Aimoo's recovery after their total melt down is slow, but things are finally getting fixed. The BIG issue is that the posts are not sorted by date. Once this is fixed the board will become much more readable. I am hoping they get that fixed in the next couple of days. There are still lots of other issues for administrators like me. A lot of the level of the management and control features that were in the last version of the software are not implemented in the new software. This is more of a frustration for me than you. Your side of the experience should be more or less sorted out soon. I believe that once date ordering is sorted out, we will be above water and functional. There are some issues you should be aware of: - Logging in. Make sure you are logged in and not just running as a guest user. See the login and logout buttons at the very top right of the main page.
- Joining the board, you may have to re-join the board. After you have logged in, look for a button called "join the community" on top right near login.
- We are running the standard editor on the messages. There is a more advanced one with lots of neat controls but I don't have that turned on because at this time it causes some issues.
- My unfamiliarity with this new software has caused me to make some mistakes. I have accidently deleted a couple of threads where I was just attempting to edit them. My bad. Sorry if your comments got knocked off.
Please be very careful to check you are in the right thread before posting. For years I have cleaned up the board by moving posts to the correct thread, or if people started a new thread on the same subject, by moving messages and combing threads. This involved laboriously moving the messages one by one. Unfortunately the new management software does not have a MOVE function implemented at this time. So, before posting please: - Check that there is not an existing thread on the subject. (Use the search option from the menu)
- Check for existing threads by searching a couple of different ways.
- Try to think if your message would fit as an answer to someone’s existing thread, instead of creating a new one.
On this board, with over 30,000 message posts we try to keep duplicate threads to a minimum. It helps the reader find everything in one place, helps people who subscribe to that thread keep up with the subject, and means that you don’t have to post your report on multiple threads that are all about the same subject. Right now, my only option do deal with duplicate threads is to delete them. (Sorry, moving of individual messages and combining of threads is not an option implemented at this time.)
