The Thong Wearers Message Board The place for people who wear a thong or a g-string at the beach.

THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER. Threads and messages appear to be back in sequence and we can post messages.
Some things still do not work correctly. Please cutback on starting new threads and try to post messages as a reply to existing threads.
If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly. First paste it into notepad or other basic ascii editor so that the formatting codes are removed, then cut again.

I only made a few posts over the last few days, all on-topic, free of spam, abuse, profanity, etc., even some with on-topic pictures. For whatever reasons, thread "consolidation", whatever, they end up buried in a heap of 2-year old posts that nobody reads. The proces of moving the post does not carry the date stamp over the new thread where it is located, so it ends up buried and no one knows a post was added to that old thread unless they happen find it by some method other than looking at the most recent posts. For those of us who have something useful to contribute in the way of pictures, links, directions to a beach, etc., this sort of policy is a great deterrent to further postings. I post for people to see it, not to have it tossed in some 2-year old archive that is only found with the search engine. I understand the arguments for consolidation, but I think it takes away more value than it adds. If I want to find something new about Miami Beach, I look in the new threads about Miami Beach. If I want to find something old, I look in the old ones. It's just that simple. Lumping them all together into one multi page-thread doesn't help me much.

Reply to  Nordic_god,

I see you are an inexperienced poster, and I think perhaps that you are under a misapprehension about the way this board works.

If you post a message in an existing thread, the thread date will be updated and it will come back to the top of the list.

If a moderator moves the post to the existing thread, then the thread date will not be updated and the thread date will be the last prior post.

So post in existing thread and the thread date will take care of the rest:  The thread will return to active duty.

We consolidate the treads for several different reasons:

1) It makes it easer to read and find the information on a subject. It is simpler to read one or two threads that contain all the comments on a place or topic, than to hunt down the same information scattered across many different threads.

2) It cuts down on cross posting. If there are twenty threads on a location then a person with news about it feels that they have to cross post on each of the threads.

3) It allows for people to read the posts in more or less chronological order.

4) Many people, on reading the prior postings find their questions already answered.

5) Having the thread consolidated tends to stimulate discussion among people of similar interests. If the posts were disbursed across many threads it would be like having a party but only two people in each room.

6) Some people monitor threads they are interested in. So if you post in the existing thread and people are monitoring it you often get prompt followups.

While, dear Nordic_GOD, I do understand that you "post for people to see it, not to have it tossed in some 2-year old archive", you should understand that if you post to that existing thread it will bring the thread back to the top of the list, and people who are interested in the subject will read it to see what words of wisdom you have added.

So post in the existing thread, and be read.   If you start another new thread for an existing subject, the moderator is going to do one of three things:

a) Move your post to an existing thread.
(This first option takes LOTS of work, quite a bit of time and is a real bother. Not easy!)

b) Kill the thread and type up a personal message to you politely asking you to repost your question or comment in the existing thread. (If feeling real nice I might even find it for you.)

c) Just kill the thread. (This one is easy and takes least time.)

So, my advice is to search diligently for an existing thread before thinking about starting a new one..... (This advice applies to all mortal men and lesser gods)

I don't think it is unreasonable to consolidate posts, especially when some one starts a new thread that is identical to the existing thread.

People sometimes 'subscribe' to threads so they get emails of new items that interest them.

  • When a thread gets hijacked by some one starting a new thread and the new posts on the subject get split between multiple threads  the person no longer gets email updates on the subject.

  • When a thread gets hijacked by going way off subject, then the person gets emails about posts that are, well, just way off subject.

Thread consolidation helps keep things organized. If people post in the existing thread, where they should do, then the thread does pop back up to the top of the category.

Now I did not write the board software, and I don't own it, and there are many things I would like to see improved.  It is an extraordinary hassle for me to move messages from one thread to another. So some times, when its a regular offender who should know better, I send them a PM asking them to repost the message on the existing thread, and kill the new thread.

  • I also edit some messages:
    Some times to take out un-necessary blank lines;

  • or fix font formating problems;

  • or remove language that is inappropriate to the board or the subject;

  • or to prevent the thread getting way off topic;

  • or fix common problems with readability:  Like capitalizing the word 'I' or the first letters of sentences;

  • or just to fix garbled English.

The goal is readability!  So I try to keep subjects in one thread, keep requests to meet up in the contacts section etc.   I have created a new section for links to pictures and videos, because recently a lot of links to pictures were starting to pop up in threads and readers found them distracting and often off topic.

New threads also get deleted when a new poster starts a question like "Has any one worn a thong in St Martin."  DUH, when we have extensive existing threads on the subject.  People need to read before posting, and that includes using the search function, then they may find that their  'new' question has already been answered dozens of times.

This is not a sight for flashing, or for gays trolling for twinkles in tighty whites, or for showing off photos of ones bulge.  There are plenty of sites on the web for that.  This is a site for people who wear thongs to the beach, and for them to write about the places they can wear thongs in public and their experiences and issues.

One last note:  There is no age limit for this board.  You can thong at any age, young or old, so I try to keep the content more or less PG.   We are also restricted by the Aimoo terms of service to keeping things PG.   For some people the thought of thongs and sex is interwoven in such a way that they seem unable to write about thongs with out writing about their sexual escapades.  These people end up with the most editing, or in some case deletion of the posts.

I have just done a big consolidation on the Key West threads. We are now down to just a few, one on Cloths optional restorts like Atlantic Shores, one on Fort Zack, one on key west beaches.

If you cant find your post, try a search, with either 'Key West' in the title, in all threads, from the bignnning,

OR

Do a search for all posts by 'insert you username here'.

Maybe you are looking for

Key West - Beaches

OR maybe you are looking for

Key West - Clothing Optional or thongs required ? ( Atlantic Shores Resort )

OR Just search for Key West !!
