Heh - I stop and admire at my thong tan line just about every time I walk by a mirror.

I am totally bald and make no effort to cover it up.  I dont flaunt it either, but i am at the stage of my life where I honestly dont care what random guys in a gym locker room care about my personal hygene habits.  I have not really noticed any other shaved guys in my gym.  Right now, I have a pretty intense tan line from my muscleskins MP.  I make no effort to hide that either.   If anyone would ever be inclined to make fun of it, I would probably break out a picture of my wife....LoL.  I think they would stop laughing

Stanpuppy is exactly right.  To shave or not to shave is a personal choice that need not be approved/disapproved by anyone.  Most of all some guy in the locker room who is looking a little longer than he should.  That goes for tanlines as well.  Someone might take passing notice but absolutely no one in the locker room is going to say a thing.  That stuff just dosen't happen.

I am totally shaved with no tan lines to speak of. I don't make any attempt to cover it up and have not had anyone say anything or even look askance.

I'm finding a lot more guys are shaving...  and ranging all ages.  And, in general, most make no attempt to hide it.  (Including myself.)   As I've gotten older, I've become less shy... and in fact, have gotten admiring looks for both being shaved but also for having a distinct thong tanline.   You definitely see guys checking it out!

Up here in the northeast, we must be alot more conservative.  I am in 2 different gyms 5 times a week and i have only seen one other guy shaved (in addition to me) in the past year.   Nobody has ever mentioned anything, or seems to even care....but I have not observed it as very popular amongst the rank and file.  Contrast when we go to sandy hook nude beach, it seems like many (if not most) of the guys are hairless down there.  For women, it is almost standard

that's exactly my experience (same part of the country, too).  Only instead of a nude beach we go to a nudist campground.  Incidently, the same is true at Orient Beach, St Martin as well.

At the gym where I swim, still not many are shaving below. Also noticed that some men have not trimmed at all and it looks so dirty. Not sure how their women feel about that.

I've been in the gym and pools and have no problem being the ONLY ONE clean shaven, although initially it's a bit nervous to be stared at by almost everybody. Get used to it cos they're jealous :)

 Having shaved pubic, armpit and other body areas, I just go about my business in the YMCA shower like everybody should shave, they should, sometimes some guys just look but oneone has said anything, maybe they don't waht to get caught looking, most young guys don't shower, I go to the steam room so it is almost mandatory that I do.So what if they look just tell them your wife makes it worth the trouble to keep the hair out of the way LOL

So, I was at the gym the other day when I noticed that someone was shaving their pubic hair with a Bodygroom.  I've been thinking of doing the same thing, as I go in the morning and it would be really convenient for me.

Is this "crossing the line"?

I dont think so.  I shave at the gym all the time.  I usually do it in the shower stall, but it has a frosted glass door and you can easily tell what i am doing.  Who cares...go for it

I have been smooth for over 20 years now and have been bald in the guy and at first it was a big deal, but now most guys in their 20's and 30's and even 40's are at least trimmed, and the old mountain man thing is gone with the mullet

 I have shaved my chest, stomach, and pubic area for 12 years.  Early on I was the only guy in the locker room that was shaved.  Now I have noticed quite a few others.  One thing I have noticed is that once a guy starts shaving it is very uncommon for him to let the hair grow back in.  I have also observed a 40-something father with his 20-something son both head to the showers with their bushes completely shaved.  This was in a conservative suburban LA gym.  Has anyone else noticed that shaving is crossing generations?

I observed my first pubic baldie yesterday at the gym (other than me). Funny thing was, it was not the type you would expect.  Typically you might think it would be a muscle stud type who would be shaved to impress the girls.  This guy was the exact opposite.  Totally bald, upper middle age, huge stomach, skinny arms and almost no muscle tone.  His penis was microscopic....BUT.......He was shaved.  Guess it goes to show you that you never can tell.

 Its not the 80's anymore.  I've been shaving bald since i was 16 or 17 (i'm 30 now). no odd looks or comments from anyone in locker rooms.  i swim now 3 times a week and go nude from the shower to the locker area and nobody seems to care.  it's just kinda the way it is now i guess.  I do get some looks when i put the thong on, but so far no one has said anything, to me anyway.

I've been bald from the neck down for years. Never made any attempt to hide it. I also have thong tanlines from time to time. The tanlines seem to attract more attention, but I've had positive comments on both. It does seem to attract a little more attention from the gay men, but I don't really mind the attention. In the many years I've been going to the gym, I'm the only one I've noticed completely bald.

Re:Bald at the gym

My confidence with being nude in the gym/YMCA locker room has grown in parallel with my confidence in wearing thongs to the beach and pool. With that, I regularly walk nude from my locker to the sauna, steam room and shower and don't care what other guys think of my being shaved bald 'down there.' I am a bit self conscious of my summertime thong tanlines though. I do on occasion see other guys who are shaved or trimmed tightly but rarely. I've also noticed more guys checking me out lately and blatantly staring but I guess it comes with the territory.

I`m generally waxed smooth or very close to it, depending on how many weeks its been since my last brazilian. Love the smooth look and not afraid to show it at the gym locker room/showers. Most guys tend to walk around naked in the shower arear going to the steam etc and there would be a large proportion of trimmed guys and a about say 10% fully smooth.

Hairy is not a good look in my opinion.

Also usually havea thong tan line and not worried about hiding that either. :)

I went to the hotel gym while vacationing in London.  The gym had a locker room pretty much like a regular health club.  When I was changing I couldn't help but notice that 4 of the 5 other guys that were changing when I was were shaved bald.

I think with younger guys it is getting more common, especially with the prevalence amongst younger girls.  My (female) friend has a teenage daughter, and she shared with me the fact that all of her and her friends are hairless down there.  Apparently is is almost expected amongst the 25 and below set

It has been over 3 years since I posted this question, and to date at our YMCA I have seen one other thonger and shaver but he left for a different club.  (Not that I check out every guy but I do go 5 days a week at different times depending on my work schedule, and with some construction we have been moving back and forth between two locker rooms.)

A few guys may trim but nothing real noticable.  A few guys give me a double take but outside of that I am just one of the guys, I just hoped I wouldnt be a loaner.

I have been smooth for close to 20 yrs.  I am a long time nudist as well and sport some minimal tan lines at times and totally tanned at others.  I have gotten comments about being totally tanned but never about minimal tan lines.  I am also pierced which does get a few more stares and a comment from time to time but never negative.  Only guestions like did it hurt, etc.  Again, never any negative comments about being smooth, tan lines/thongs, or piercings.  It actually surprised me that there have not been any negative comments.  I have seen a few smooth, numerous tan lines, and very few others with gentital piercings.

What?  You're joking?  Who sits in a steam room and just lets someone stroke off without saying something?  This is complete garbage and totally inappropriate behavior.  So is someone "asking" to touch your smooth shave.  Honestly, how do you hope to be taken seriously as a nudist or thonger?  Crazy.

Look folks, if you want society to accept your thonging and nudity the way to do it is to show you have some sense of reason.  Out of bounds behavior whether in the sauna, steam room, beach dunes, etc. is just not going to cut it.

 I guess I may have started early, back in 1984, while living in San Diego, California.  I used to work out at Holiday Spa (now named Bally Total Fitness).  Lots of guys there in southern California shaved their lower region.  Blacks Beach, a world famous nude beach at La Jolla, San Diego has visitors from afar.  I did what most of the other young guys were doing by shaving.  As I look back on things... not shaving is quite barbaric.  Nothing artistic in looking like a stone age male.  No statement in looking unkempt.  I often wore thongs, bikinis, and G-strings at the beaches of San Diego so not shaving and having excess hairs showing is quite gross looking.

I've been shaved clean since the mid-80s. Since I'm a swimmer I seem lots of guys who are totally shaved at my gym in Orange County.  Lot's more guys are shaving clean than just a few years ago.  Probably following the trend of girls shaving down there.

I have been completely smooth for about 10 years now and I go swimming every morning before work.  Most guys at the recreation center walk to the shower naked and I do too.  Smooth men are a distinct minority here but there are always a few guys who are smooth or trimmed and they span the age categories.

I swim every day and have been doing so for years.  I go to my local "Y" or another health club.  I am nude in the locker rooms, sauna, steam room and hot tub.  How I wish I could be nude in the pool, like the old days when I was in college!  About five years ago I started waxing on my chest and legs.  About a year ago I started shaving, and slowly started to trim the pubic area mostly because of some abreviated swim suits.  Pubic hair sticking out of the edges of a swim suit just does not make it.  One day I said the heck with it, and shaved completely.  I have gotten a couple of stares, but no comment from anyone at either facility.  Now I would not have it anyother way.

i dont think this is a taboo or unusual as it was (even a short time ago).  I think hairless is so comon with women, ( I have been told by my female friends that it is almost an expectation of women under 40) that it is now considered not uncommon for men as well.  I have no qualms about showing my hairlessness, even at my work gym.  Lots of people see it, and to date, nobody has ever said a word

Re:Bald at the gym

I found the following on the Dr.'s TV show. It seems to indicate that hair removal is beneficial, at least for women.

“As a gynecologist, I see lots of hairstyles down there,” Dr. Lisa says. “Hygienically, you’re going to decrease your risk of STDs and decrease risk of body odor that a lot of women are worried about. There are a lot of pluses to [removing pubic hair].”

She cautions that any minuses are usually due to the means in which women remove their pubic hair. Shaving can cause ingrown hairs, which can be painful, and waxing or laser treatments can cause skin irritation. “So the problems come in, health-wise, is how you’re going to do it,” she concludes.

I have to admit I'm not a lover of the bald look, I can see the reasons behind it for hygiene though, but I much prefer the will trimmed landing strip. Both I and my GF sport this style, her's is narrower than mine at about 1/4 inch wide by 2 inch high, mine being about 1 1/2 inch wide up to my belly button, with the rest off! Both trimmed down to grade 2.

I never get any overt reactions in the gym even though I am completely bald, have an obvious tan and have a rather large Lorum piercing. It is just not an issue any more. I have observed many more men (say 20%) being bald in the last ten years. There seems to be more a lot more completely trimmed guys than those with half way solutions.

I belong to the local YMCA and am also completely smoothe, have extremely distinct thong tanlines and I wear a silver ring around my genitals.  I have not had any problems showering or in the locker room.  I have been a member at this Y for years.  Sure, I get a weird look every now and then, but that's it.

I think we are to the point in society where this is almost a non-issue.  Sort of like facial hair at this point.  Mustache or no mustache is not something you discuss with other men regarding personal preference.  I belive the pubic hair is now at the same stage

Have to agree, Stanpuppy.  In fact I was surprised earlier this evening when a guy on another forum I follow asked about appropriate pubic grooming for running Bay-2-Breakers 12k road race naked.  I assured him it didn't matter a whit, just groom down there as you normally do and are comfortable with, nobody's going to care whether you're natural, trimmed or shaved, and nobody's going to ascribe any sexual connotations to your choice.  He seemed genuinely concerned about doing the right thing, but maybe that's natural when you're making plans for "running naked thru the public square" for the first time.  It is a big deal.

Re:Bald at the gym

I grew up skinny dipping and swimming naked at the Y so being naked in a change room isn't a problem.  I just laugh to myself at the trouble some "wide" men go through in trying to keep a towel wrapped around themselves.

As for the thread of being "Bald at the gym", after my swim and gym: I get naked, shave my pubics in the shower, hit the steam room, shave my face, shower and dry off, then read the paper and watch sports or news on our big screen TV in the lounge area, then I get dressed to head home.  No one's ever said anything to me about being smooth but I have noticed more men trimming and shaving recently, and others have begun to read the paper and watch TV naked in the lounge area (while sitting on towels, of course). ;)

I recently joined the local YMCA and was hesitant to shower considering I have no pubic hair and wear thong underwear.So far I don't regret it. I walk to the shower naked but wear a towel in the sauna.I am not staring but to date I have not seen any other shavers or thongers. A lot of the guys wear jocks wich is not much different.Have any of you seen other thongers or shavers at the health club?
```````````````````````````````
I TRY NOT TO LOOK (lol) at anyone else, but since it's almost summer i shave down completely now, no pubic hair at all, just so i can wear a g-string to the beach. And when i go to the gym i normally always shower too, and kinda feel like a bit of a freak when i undress, but whatever. I haven't really noticed anyone else and really don't see anyone else accidentally naked and shaved down there, but looking would be accidental.
Haven't seen any thongers at the gym either. I myself don't wear one anywhere but to the beach and maybe around in my apartment once in awhile.
flossy666 - don't be self conscious about being smooth.  If you are not aware of the whether other guys are shaved on not than chances are they won't be paying much attention to your status.  If you going to wear a gstring to the beach then your tan line may draw more attention than being smooth
I have evolved to the point where this in no longer an issue for me at all.  I am in the gym 5x a week.  I have been completely bald downstairs for about 5 years now and it is a total non-event when I am nude in the locker room.  I dont care who sees me, and nobody seems to care about the status of my pubic region.  I think this has become such a mainstream thing (for both men and women) that it is no longer an "issue"  it is simply seen as a matter of personal choice such as whether or not to have facial hair.  Tnline is right, nobody cares
