Was out on Bird Island over the weekend.  Ran into Bird Island Guy and CK wanderer.   Not too many male thongs or nude.  I did see several ladies walking out to the mailbox or from the inlet wearing cheeky suits or thongs, but I saw a surprising amount of ladies wearing VERY cheeky or  true thongs both on the inlet beach and boats and  on Sunset Beach proper between 40th and the actual reserve!  I do not know how it was further east near the pier as I cross to main at 40th with my bike.

I was able to get out on the beach three times this last week in between work and all the storms. Two days I got out there storms hit while on the beach in cleared out almost everybody for a period time. That gave me the opportunity for a clear beach to walk up and down and giving a great sense of freedom and oneness with nature. I saw dolphins an lots of hermit crabs along the way. I certainly took advantage of my me time. I seemed to be the only person wearing in the minimal other than running into Martylouie one day. See you next time!

I was out last week too....a ton of people down past the mailbox, set up for the day. I was the only one in a thong. Even threat of rain and distant thunder didn’t scare anyone off. Hoping to make it 1 or 2 days this week once the rain stops!

I got out there today. Tons of people. By the time I got to the rocks I had had enough sun and only laid out for 30min, if that, and headed back. Way too many people for me but it’s a weekend, I expected it. Mostly beer bellies and board shorts. Saw one guy with square cuts and one guy in a speedo. Also a few guys and gals that hiked up their shorts/ bikini as far as they could. That act baffles me. Honestly though, it was a pretty laid back crowd. Maybe head back when my wife is in town if I don’t find somewhere else.

I may have been the guy in the speedo. If there had been fewer walkers, there would not have been a speedo. We were set up under the little dead pine tree past the mailbox.  The one that looks like the one that Charlie Brown brings back

Was there on Friday. Great weather and the foot and bike traffic wasn't too bad considering it's the height of tourist season. I was the only one there thonging all day. Walked the beach some and fished. Got a few double takes and was photographed at least once, but most were indifferent as to my attire. Saw a few beach patrols including 2 town police SUV's, but they didn't venture past the mailbox. Hope to get back again before Labor Day.

Near perfect day Tuesday. Foot traffic was minimal in the afternoon, breeze kept the temperature down, sunny all day. Stayed from about 12-5. Can’t wait to go again Thursday.

Where was everyone Thursday afternoon? It was empty. On my way out to Bird Island I think I saw a guy in a minimalist suit out past 40th but still in town limits.

Nobody but my wife & I settling down on the far west side of Bird Island. It has been hot, humid and windy with blowing sand. At least there were no biting insects. Yesterday near where we normally settle a youngish couple had put down a couple of towels. I walked over to ask if they minded my going nude if the walkers ever stopped. They said that was why they were there. I went back to my spot and started setting up. That’s when the parade starts, that and a young Asian girl settling down nearby. My wife arrives and we go for a dip. We get back to our chairs and I remove my suit. After a little bit, the young couple leaves never having gotten nude. For the record the best time to go naked is after lunch and high tide. Also good is late afternoon.

Went to Bird Island today before noon and just wasn’t feeling it. Steady stream of walkers plus a strong, sandy wind. I went back to the hotel, got some nude laps in the pool, and that was enough for me.

Thongalactic- were the biting flies out? I’m told when wind is out of the east, they can be unbearable.

Re:Bird Island, NC (near Sunset Beach)

Date Posted:08/24/2018 09:23:07Copy HTML

Thongalactic:  I'm curious which hotel were you at where you did nude laps in the pool? Appreciate if you could share. Bird Island does have a steady stream of clothed walkers typically until late morning, but they usually don't bother anyone who are in thongs. By early afternoon they're mostly gone so  you can go for long walks without running into any of them. I was going to head to Bird Island yesterday myself but saw the wind was out of the northeast, parallel to shoreline, and you end up getting sand-blasted & covered in sand. Best wind direction is out of the southeast off the water which is the usual wind in summer (yesterday was unusual). if the wind is out of the west/northwest then the flies over the dunes come out to the beach and bite. Usually in summer the sea breeze kicks in late morning and continues all afternoon keeping the flies at bay. But in the  morning if the wind is calm or out of the west/northwest then the flies can really bite till about 10-11am.

Re:Bird Island, NC (near Sunset Beach)

Date Posted:08/25/2018 12:23:57Copy HTML

If the wind direction has an “N” in it (ENE - WNW) you’re going to have flies. I too want to know what pool was nude. One thing to be careful of is blowing sand. I must have caught a lung full last week. I’m still having asthma like symptoms. The reason I think it was sand is because the phlegm felt gritty for several days after

Re:Bird Island, NC (near Sunset Beach)

Lindros—that's exactly what happened. Wind was parallel to the shore and I got sandblasted. It made me pine for the cool blue, chlorinated waters of an indoor pool, where I later swam some nude laps. I was staying in the Myrtle Beach area. I waited until it was about dinner time (5-6pm) and the indoor pool was empty. Just as I left the pool to go to dinner myself, I saw a family walking towards the pool. Yikes. Cut that one a little close maybe.

Sunday afternoon was beautiful on BI. There was a light breeze from the south, so no flies. Even though low tide was mid afternoon, there was only the occasional walker. I was there from 1 to 7 pm. For the first hour, it was just me and a few seagulls enjoying the beach. As the afternoon progressed, a few more came to soak up the sun. By the end of the day, there were 5 of us there. I had not seen 2 of the guys there before. They were friendly and we had a nice conversation. Now that school has started, I expect the beach to be less crowded and fewer walkers. I believe the days after Labor Day is the best time for enjoying BI.

Found the wife and I at Bird Island this afternoon.

As she doesn't walk much I left her at crosswalk 38 which was the closest I could park and I made the walk down to the good end.

I saw a few checky bikinis and a true thong on some young women before I passed crossover 40 at Sunset Beach.

I made the walk shortly after noon and only encountered a few walkers.

The wind was blowing up the beach so no flies and strong enough for a nice breeze but not enough to kick up the sand.

The beach was nearly empty with the exception of a couple fellow thongers/nudists.

I got several hours of sun and only covered with my g-string a few times as needed

Just a couple of bicycle riders and they seemed to be peddling hard  to make the trip to the end to return out of our area.

A nice day at Birds Island!

Hope to return soon!

Nice day today. I saw 2 ladies in thongs. Both were at the 40th crossover. That was it. While walking along the Little River Inlet an overloaded RIB motored up an past me. I could hear a young woman (wouldn’t call her a lady) was trying to figure out if I was male or female because I was wearing a HIS bikini. I turned to face her and she saw my beard. That answered that question. As they went by she screamed “He is wearing a banana hammock!” So I waved and gave a thumbs up.

Lol. Nice one. So far this morning it's been quite nice out here on the beach. Little bit of foot traffic which is to be expected that the tide was coming in so it started to thin out and I had about 20 minutes of nobody in either direction which gave me some time to head out into the water naked to cool off and then walk along the beach for about a hundred yards in one direction towards the jetty and then actually all the way naked on the bench at the Kindred Spirits mailbox. It's now about noon and nobody else out here yet. So if any of these Sunset Beach locals are reading this right now, get your butts out here!

Lindros, Bird Island Guy, Painter, and all the rest, I hope you all stay safe. I’m at my main home and up until @ 2:00 am it looked to be in bigger trouble than our Sunset place. Right now it looks like the Southern Brunswick beaches have the bullseye on them. I saw on a Facebook post that the mailbox has been taken off the beach to an undisclosed location for it’s safety. Look to see you all after the storm in the fall

I'm at bird island right now. No major damage. Dunes are still there, maybe not as high as before and looks like a few new cuts through them, but again no significant damage. I'm the only one out here right now, no textiles walking by either. Got the place to myself so no need to wear anything.

Been here nearby in North Myrtle Beach since Friday afternoon. Saturday had the daughter and grandkids also.  Sunday I was able to slip over to Bird Island and make the walk down. Tide is out in the afternoon so there is a lot of beach. Sat up past the mailbox and saw maybe a dozen cyclist and walkers. Only a couple of other guys and they were not tanned so I guess not regulars.

Monday I was the only one sitting on the beach but a major bit of traffic! I bet a least 30 bicycles and a dozen couples. I did wear my g-string all day while tanning so I got my share of stares.

Tuesday I headed down around noon and as I was arriving the bottom broke out and poured down. I waited it out and it looked like it might blow over.

I made the walk and found after I past the reserve sign I was the only one in sight. I stripped down and made the walk all the way to the end and over the jetties and back to near the begining before I encountered another person. I put my string on and hung out near the begining of the reserve as the weather still looked iffy.  The sun came out and I headed back a ways into the reserve and layed out.

Or I thought I was going to lay out. The rain quit and the wind died down and the damn flies came out!

I found out they are no fun!

I might head back today. We'll see how the wife thinks about me leaving her again.

Later,

How's the water? Is it still brown? Also, are the mosquitoes bad? I read they are getting bad due to the flooding but was thinking that might be a problem more north. Trying to go out there in a couple days just want to make sure it's worth it...

Re:Bird Island, NC (near Sunset Beach)

Last time I was out was Sunday. Julie's may be open only on weekends, if I get a chance I'll swing by. The water was kind of foamy last Sunday. The water in the inlet was the color of McDonald's coffee, but that didn't stop boaters and fishermen. I noticed one pontoon boat that had several women in skimpy to thong bikinis. Oddly enough, there was a group of girls that walked by my house while I was working and a couple of them had very cheeky to thong bottoms on. Last Thursday was probably the nicest beach day for socializing. @ six of us were nude including 1 female. She and her boyfriend were taking photos of each other and I also took some of the two of them. One of the other guys (new regular) turned out to be a retired professional photographer and he started giving us pointers. Unfortunately a lone female walker coming back from the jetty caused us all to go back and cover up. She came up to me and said that there was no need to cover up, and explained that she used to go to Isle d'Levant when she lived in France. If only we had known about that on her way OUT to the jetty. I'm not the quickest, I probably should of asked if she wanted to join us.

Today is all normal for water color/foam on the North side of Myrtle Beach. I hope all is normal on the NC side. I will be hanging out on Bird Island on Friday late morning and several hours. Hope to see familiar and new “thongers” out and about. I will be in one my smaller G strings (or other various suits) and walking the beach and getting some great fall sun.

Not sure what happned to my other profile but i had to start a new one. Stopped up at BI yesterday. Flies were a mother forker!!!! Got there about 9:30, a couple of people arrived shortly after but didnt go topless or nude, same couple as the last time i was there that coaxed me to move away from them so i could go thong/nude. Later about 1pm a couple of other guys showed up, sisnt go nude or thong, i had seen one of them a couple of times before. 2 other guys showed up also, both were willing to go nude, one sat on top of the dunes to avoid the flies with some wind, didnt help much. The other guy was also suffering the fly treatment. I.decided to get a break from the biting burgers (the flies) and walk naked back thru the dunes and marsh area. Stopped at an unoccupied beach house and stole a quicky shower with shampoo and headed back home. Love BI but the flies kill it for me. I even took 2 bits on "the boys"!!

The last time I was out there, some guy was sitting on top of the dunes trying to get a little bit of Breeze to combat the biting fly problem. I ended up walking back in the dunes and the sand Flats while naked and he kept taking his shorts off and also walking around naked behind the bins, I guess expecting some sort of action. Which I did not oblige him.
