It once was a sailboat party after the days race, before a sailing race back to Miami. Over the years the power boats have taken over. Last years I was there for the duration. A friend invited me to join his group on his large motor yacht. I skipped it this year, too busy. The pictures are a good idea of what it is like. Just imagine adding heat, sunshine, cold bear and music. We had some double canoes like the one in the first picture, except ours were yellow not green. Both days I had topless / and or thong women in my canoe with me. I could get two women in with me, if they were slim, but it capsized with three. At one point I had one in the canoe and two being towed behind on a surf board. We spent the days either canoeing around the anchored flotilla, or partying on our yacht, or partying on other peoples boats, or taking the large RIB around to see the show. Like all such events, it is best to take women with you, and not be the dirty old men who bring nothing to the party other than their own beer and cameras. So a guy who picks up some topless thonged skank at the 7-11 parking lot and spends his time leering at others and strutting around while wearing a "C" ring while touching himself isn't a Dirty Old Man. Nice to know, single = Dirty Old Man and has a date = not a Dirty Old Man. It sounds almost like you're trying to justify your pervy behavior by including a date at these events. Thats just my opinion of the above statement that you insulted most of us with. |

I don't go every year but have gone now and again during the last 30 years. Once it was a sailboat party, with the same values and aesthetics, now it is more of a young red-neck power boat party with loud music and much beer. In my youth the anchorage got quieter as dark fell, now the party goes on late into the night. In the old days I think there more real enjoyment and less men driving around with cameras and video.
Digital cameras are wonderful because pictures are free and you don't have to carefully select your shots. The down side is so many people spend most of their time taking pictures, instead of having fun, and some women are reluctant to just be part of that spectacle. If you do go, then I recommend having a canoe so you can paddle in and out of the closely anchored boats. A dingy with a motor is a liability because a lot of the dancing girls are out on the bows of the boats but the anchor ropes make a spiders web in the water. A floating raft works but is a lot less maneuverable and the boats are spread out over a large area so you want something like a canoe. It helps to have a comfortable 'yacht' to retreat too. Unless you want to spend your weekend gawking, I strongly suggest you take some women with you. Ask and invite. If you have several people going on a boat women are more likely to feel comfortable accepting. South Floridians like a good party. Be part of the fun, not just a gawker. (Gawk, look it up). |
