G'day Aussie Folks,I'm headingonto Cairns and Port Douglas for a week holiday within a couple of weeks; just me, my wife and two kids. I was wondering if anyone has any thonging experiences at these beaches, and how thong friendly could it be this part of north Queensland..John Howard

Hi

Haven't been to NQ for a while but those areas were pretty easy going. There's some really nice beaches, I just forget their names. The best thing I remember was that most of the time we'd have a whole beach to ourselves. Too many good spots to mention. Didn't see much of Port Douglas though. Well worth checking out the reef and some of the islands if you can. Highly recommend the Cape Tribulation region also.

Have a good holiday.

hi there,

Ive been thonging in Port Douglas.

I didn't have any one bother me, few girls gave a smile as well .
I went thonging on the south end of 4-mile beach. If you go down Barrier street as your going into Port douglas (2nd on right from memory) follow it all the way to the end there is a beach access.

Have fun

G-bro

I know this will sound vague, but i have been a couple of years since I've been up that way. About half way from cairns to Port Douglas the road becomes quite windey and surrounded by vegetation/rainforest, there is a particular dogleg from which you can see a small secluded beach (for interest sake, this is where those XXXX Gold ads were filmed). Anyway, if you want seclusion, this is a great beach... Enjoy!

The 4 Mile Beach at Pt Douglas is a great place for thonging. Both my wife and myself during our honeymoon wore our smallest g-strings (her in a sheer 457 WW, myself in a Dore). No problem at the resort pool either.

Most of the beaches north of Cairns are OK, whenever I go (about 4 times a year - after all it is only 340km away) I always go to Trinity Beach and when sunning in a g-string have never had a problem. There is a bikini shop on the road to the beach and they will make swimmers to your own designs - that's where I've had all mine made for the past few years.

I have never had the courage to go in a g-string to Cairns lagoon though - maybe one day I'll feel brave enough.

Have a nice holiday.

I went to Cairns two years ago and wore a gstring at the Hilton Hotel pool without a problem.  I also went scuba diving on the Nimrod live aboard boat in a gstring without a problem.

Well I'm off to Cairns in a week or two.  Probably sporting a N2N Champion G or various Joe Snyder suits.

No problem anywhere! I live in Townsville and go to Cairns about 3-4 times a year. The beaches I usually go to are Trinity beach and Yorkeys Knob beach. I have worn g-strings at both beaches, and gone for a long beach walk at Yorkeys (beautiful long flat beach, ideal for walks) in just a g-string.I do not go much to the other beaches (Ellis, Palm Cove, Kerrawa, etc) but they should be all fine. I have gone shopping in Palm Cove wearing just my usual small bikini with 3mm sides, without t-shirt or other coverage. Women usually smile at me, even police women; other blokes just look the other way - that's their problem. And if you go mid year, there will be not problems with jelly fish, sea wasp, and other nasties. Just watch out for the occasional croc!Enjoy your stay in the North.

Is trinity beach good for sunbathing & possibly swimming or snorkelling. I have a spare 4 hours between flights. Or is there a better spot closer to the airport ???

Holloways beach is the closest to the Cairns airport, sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling are all possible. Have fun!
