Re:Caspersen Beach - Venice, FL

Date Posted:08/31/2012 10:56:18Copy HTML

I started working on a blog about "bushwackers", "vinnies" and "wallies", it will be a while before I have the time to finish it. But I do think that the parking lot continegent is another breed entirely :-) They would oogle anyone, man or woman, who was showering off in a thong. Anonymous sexers is just too long a term, but I think "aggresive gays" is a bit of a misnomer. Many of the couples on Caspersen assume when they see a single male thonger that he is Gay even though they know that is not always the case. Be that as it may, the Asexers (what do you think?) have the same preconcieved idea that if your in a thong, male and by yourself you are either gay, cruising or both. I have had Asexers actually reach out and touch (or attemt to) my *ock on a number of occasions when I was by myself, away from Candy. I let them know they had crossed a boundary, some more politely than others. But here's the thing for me, I enjoy being oogled, period. Yes I would probably prefer to be oogled by women but since I am not looking for any outcome either way, the sex of the person oogling doesn't really matter to me. I am only speaking for myself here, but I don't feel the least bit threatened by any of that. Candy has been approached as well, but they are much less brazen, and actually polite in many cases with women thongers. I guess some think asking is worth a try, she has to say no one time and they don't ask again, I am of course not talking about"vinnies". Again it goes back to people having such preconcieved ideas, born i guess from our f*cked up cultural programing. Thonging single male=gay, thonging single female=sl*t, thonging couple=swin*ers, this unfortunately is the society we live in.

I agree with Lindros about Midnight Pass/Palmer Point, if you want to be left alone to thong in peace, this is the beach for our area. Lot's of boaters on the weekend pulled up on the Jim Neville side, but I can't recall ever seeing a bushwacker there. I would go a little further south, past Steve King's house. Siesta beach would not be a good place imo, lot's of low-life homophobic ner-do-wells go there and if you looking to have your b*lls busted they are the most likely people to feel it nessesary to do for their own percieved manlyness. Lido is bushwacker central, as bad as the Skyway beaches. Out of our area my pick is Ft Desoto, nicer beach than Siesta for sand, water ect. Or as nice. Candy and I like the social part of Caspersen, we want other people both couples and singles, and yes bushwackers too :-)

Please take all of our comments for what they are, just our two cents.

What a gorgeous day today! The gulf was flat calm, a beautiful sunny day with lots of people. Water quality was poor :-( Lots of little worm like sea creatures. When you got out of the water they would dry out on your skin and feel like sand. Water temp is still perfect. Probably more than a dozen couples out today. Everyone we talked to agreed that Isaac left more sand on the beach than we had before. The slope of the beach is now bettter and the seaweed is gone. There are dead shellfish washed up against the dunes that smell really bad but hopefully they won't be there long. Candy had a great time today, found lots of sharks teeth and it was nice not being the only woman out there. We did so much socializing that she never even read a single page of her book! If we had clear, green gulf water, it would have been a perfect day.

I was at Caspersen too today (Sunday), but only stayed about an hour. The stench from the dead shellfish was too much to take and the no-see-ums were eating me alive so it was a very short day. Now that the water has calmed down it's more obvious the beach is indeed better than before. Monday I may try the Fort for the first time, hopefully the smell will disappear quickly.

After spending the morning at Manasota Key Beach, I decided to finish the afternoon at Caspersen as a big rain shower was bearing down at Manasota.

Caspersen Beach still had a bad stench of dead shellfish. Worse yet I think it was attracting plenty of flies. Despite a nice off-shore breeze, it would tough to keep the pesky flies from biting my legs. Other than that, the afternoon was fine. There were not too many people on the beach, and the water looked rougher than how it felt when swimming. Because of the stench, I think I'll be spending more time at Fort DeSoto and Manasota Beaches in the next month.

We spent about 5 hours out yesterday, got there under a rain cloud and later on we sat through about 20 mins of rain. The rest of the day was beautiful! I noticed that the ghost crabs had eaten most of the shellfish and we didn't smell anything or see any flies down where we set up. The little worm things were gone from the Gulf and Candy found some awesome sharks teeth. For most of the day we were the only people on the beach. After the rain stopped, beginning around 1:00 other people started to show up, 5 or 6 single male thongers and 1 nudist couple. The couple was set up a ways up the beach from us and we did a walk by. We usually go past someone about 10-20 yards and then turn around and head back, with this couple we recieved no response when we walked back by, so we never met them :-( The only socializing yesterday if you want to call it that was to finally get through to someone we often see that Steve is not bi and has no interest in him :-) Some people don't take a hint too well and have to be told straight out. Next time we talk to our source of gossip from the gay side it will be interesting to hear how that conversation was replayed :-) We still have not had a good day to take more pictures for our profile of Steve in various thongs, yesterday he wore a black whaleback. Caspersen does have a unique appeal for us and that is why we like it so much, we know it's not the same for everyone.

We went out yesterday and had an awesome day! The Gulf was flat calm, weather sunny and hot with an east wind. The starfish sperm/eggs were in the water again :( We found that if you rub down and rinse off before getting out you would barely have any that would dry out on your skin. A lot of people out, 4 other couples and a lot of single male thongers down our way. We met some new people and everyone had a good time together. Around 1:30 2 ranger vehicles started down the beach, the quads were full of Firefighters and Lifegaurds. The 2 quads went all the way down to the steps at the beach ferry.  About 10 of us were standing at the waters edge, or in the water when they went by. About 30-40 mins later 3 quads come back north and 1 of them had a woman in a pink bathing suit aboard, who must have called 911. The beach ferry is closed on Wed. The 3rd quad ended up going back south alone with one Lifegaurd aboard and must have come all the up from Blind Pass. When we saw the vehicles on the beach headed south all of the women had put tops on and we were all standing there in thongs. All of the emergency vehicle's occupants smiled and waved to us. Nobody knows what happed but maybe it will be in the Venice paper on Sat. All in all we had a great day and we wished we could have stayed till sunset, it looked like it was going to be a beautiful one.

Today (Friday) I went to Caspersen Beach. Weather was great, but did begin to cloud up by mid-afternoon. The breeze from the east kept the Gulf water like a lake but did bring in some no-see-ums from the forest in the early morning. By late morning the wind shifted just enough so that they weren't a problem the rest of the day. You can tell the water is starting to get just a bit of chill compared to last month as the days get shorter. The sand now is so soft and of much better quality than from just a few weeks ago. It's surprising that a beach could actually get better after a tropical storm passes by. No issues wearing a g-string today. I set up about 100 yards south of the entry ramps. Beach traffic was very light.

Not sure where I'll go tomorrow ... Caspersen, Fort DeSoto, Manasota Key or one of the Disney waterparks. Too many good choices!!

So, I started going to caspersen beach and still love it, Now how far do we go down now, is it pass the old road they shut down 25 years ago? and are the authorities still writing tickets or are they looking the other way now? Old Florida 37 years ago we did what we wanted, no problem mon. They even sold ice cream and hot dogs to topless thong women and men at North Lido Beach area. No big deal.
Thank you in advance. Beachboy

Beautiful day yesterday! We got there late and left just before the rain. Gulf was flat calm and 82 degrees. Almost nobody out, one couple and one single male thonger. We had textile friends with us who had an awesome time, two of them had never been topfree on a beach and all three enjoyed the freedom and that we had the beach to ourselves with no worries. There were small clear jellyfish that you could only see while snorkeling, not the biting kind, visibility was low maybe 3' tops but the water was a nice color. Lots of shells for our visitors and sharks teeth. If felt like the weather has changed and summer is winding down, we are going to be out every chance we get while it's still warm and nice beach weather.

Sunday was awesome at Caspersen. Weather couldn't be any better. I arrived real early 8:30am but unfortunately had to leave early 2pm, I wish I could have stayed until sunset. Water was calm and crystal clear, no problem seeing my feet in 4-5 feet of water.

Beachboy:  Legally you can wear a thong or g-string anywhere on Caspersen beach. I usually set up about 100 yards south of the entry ramps near the fringe of the family area. On most days I'm the only one wearing a thong in this area but have not gotten hassled here yet and I also don't get hit on by the gay contingent that often frequents the beach farther down. If you want to be alone away from the textiles or hang out with other thongers then walk anywhere from 0.5 to 1.5 miles south of the entry ramps. In terms of the authorities, they are more interested in catching the pervs behaving in a lewd manner and/or looking for sex along the wooded trails. In the past couple years under-cover detectives working the trails have made over a dozen arrests in this regard. However, they do not care about people wearing a thong sunbathing & swimming on the beach. In fact, in the past year going there I have only once seen a uniformed police officer on a buggy. Evidently I think someone thought I was totally nude and called it in (I was wearing a g-string). The officer drove just past me to have a look and then left. Hope this helps. So bottom line is enjoy the thong anywhere you feel comfortable and don't engage in lewd behavior.

We made it out early yesterday (Monday) and stayed until about 4:30. Overcast but still warm, hot when the sun would peek out from the cloud cover. Gulf was flat, less than 1' and poor visibility, under 2', water temp around 81, weather has certainly changed. Not much breeze but just enough to keep the bugs away. Other than a few sets of walkers and a few single male thongers to the south we had the whole beach to ourselves. We had a very quiet and relaxing day.

Wow! What a gorgeous day yesterday (Sat)! We arrived with some dark clouds to the east but they went away and the day was just beautiful. A lot of people out, couples, single males and even a single female :)

We spent so much time socializing that Candy didn't even find a single sharks tooth!

Gulf was beautiful, calm, about 1.5', water temp is back up a bit 82-83 degrees and water quality was good, 4-5' of visibility. I didn't get a chance to snorkel at all, but I'm not complaining.

Just after we arrived I was getting ready to change out of my dork shorts when I realized I had forgotten to bring a thong, oops, and way too many people to go sans. A friend gave me one of his extra thongs that he carries in his pack, thank you again. We arrived after 1:00 and some of our friends were already getting ready to leave.

There was one couple that we have seen a number of times but nobody we know had ever met or talked to them. Candy and I did a walk by, neither of us received any eye contact, nods or waves so we went back towards our chairs and stopped and sat and talked with friends.
Everyone was saying how they never acknowledge anyone or wave or smile. The consensus was that this couple is "anti-social" which I couldn't agree with seeing as they are at a thong beach and wearing thongs.
I think thongers and nudists are typically very friendly and social, so I took it as a challenge and walked back to them (by myself) and asked if they would mind if I came up and introduced myself, he said no of course not. I ended up chatting with them about 20 minutes.  They were really nice people, friendly, interesting and not the least bit "anti-social" :)

We are looking forward to the next time we see them out now that I have broken the ice. The way the beach grapevine is the next time they are out I'll bet they get a wave and a smile from everyone they pass. That thought makes me happy :)

By the end of our day we had the beach to ourselves, we love it both ways lots of people and no people. We left around 6:00 happy and smiling looking forward to our next day at the beach.

I was at Caspersen today (Friday). The water was cloudy, probably the result of the strong storms the last couple days, and there was some seaweed accumulated on the sand in spots. However, the bigger item of interest is that by afternoon I observed literally hundreds of dead fish floating in the water and washing up on shore. [Edit:  I called up the DOH and there is a red tide bloom, so that explains the fish kills]. You may want to check the news for any further reports on what's going on there before venturing to this beach.

Otherwise, the weather was good. I set up in my usual place about 75-100 yards south of the last entry ramp. Despite the very light crowd I had a French family set up right next to me which was cool. Too bad they didn't stay that long or wear minimal swimwear. However they didn't blink an eye at my fashion.

Interestingly a green police buggy came rolling down the beach around noon-ish. They drove past me twice, once I was buttocks up and once buttocks down but they couldn't care less about me. They spent most of their time trolling in the wooded trails behind the beach. I'm not sure if they caught anybody, you can hear the vehicle approaching from 200 yards away!

We were out yesterday (Friday) as well and the red tide was bad down by the "cut" where we set up. We are probably close to 2 miles south of where Lindros sets up by the ramps.  We arrived about 1:00 and didn't even stay an hour, Candy started coughing and then I could feel it as well. The bloom may still be south of Blind Pass but it's effects were visible all the way to the Jettys. We packed up and went all the way north up to Midnight Pass, I kept my thong on the whole way. The new pic is from Midnight Pass. Candy wasn't comfortable there topfree until all of the textiles pretty much left, and then about 5:30 or so a new group of four older women arrived. We were ready to leave at that point and packed everything up. No one had any issues with my attire, I was wearing my most conservative thong. There will be even more textiles at Midnight Pass today so we will probably go to Ft DeSoto, or down south to Sanibel or Lovers Key. Not many beach days left for this year so we want to enjoy as many as we can.

There's a good web site below which updates red tide and water conditions on area beaches twice per day from lifeguards:
http://coolgate.mote.org/beachconditions/

Right now Venice Beach is getting slammed with dead fish. Everything from Nokomis Beach and north still looks fine. Also it appears that Manasota Beach has started to clear up. Manasota Key Beach is a good alternate beach to use for thonging in that area after Caspersen if you don't feel like driving all the way to Fort DeSoto.

Now it looks like the red tide area has expanded with dead fish reported from Manasota Key beach to Nokomis beach. This was the first day Nokomis has observed dead fish. Siesta and Lido beaches are still OK for now.

Re:Caspersen Beach - Venice, FL

I was at Caspersen Beach today (Friday). Good news is that everything is back to normal regarding the red tide. There were no dead fish floating in the water or washing up on shore, the water was clean and there was no foul stench in the air either. The county did a great job of cleaning up.

Weather was also perfect. I set up about 50-75 yards south of the last entry ramp today and surprisingly there was a decent crowd that built up by early afternoon. I thought the recent red tide would scare people away but I guess good news travels fast.

Interestingly a pretty young lady wearing a tiny g-string bottom set up right smack in the "family" section even with the last entry ramp but along the shore line. It was also interesting watching her leave today. She was with her infant child, and the first thing she did was carry her child up to the exit ramp about 40 yards away from where she was, put the baby in a stroller, and then just left her there while she went back to gather the rest of her stuff at the shore-line!! There was about 10-15 minutes that her baby was all alone, and during most of that time she wasn't even keeping an eye on her baby while trying to take down her umbrella and pack the rest of her stuff! Any nut job walking back from the trails could have snatched her baby and ran off no problem. In fact, every time someone entered the beach at that ramp they would stop for a minute and look around wondering where the parents were. Amazing.

We were down at the cut for a little while yesterday (Sat) and unfortunatly the county cleanup did not go anywhere near that far south. Lots of dead fish, seaweed and red-tide smell. We walked quite a ways north but the conditions were still bad. Candy was coughing and I started a little bit myself. Gulf was clear and cool and there were a lot of people out. We did a little bit of socializing with friends who were out and then we left and went up to Midnight Pass. Beautiful conditions there and a lot of people, all textiles:( We took a walk south and when we turned around there was a large family with young children playing right around where we had set up. We were both in legal attire but I was wearing a very small thong and didn't feel comfortable until I sat down and finally all the kids left. The Gulf felt wonderful and we had a nice afternoon. The highlight of my day was when two couples, who looked to be on vacation, wanted to take pictures. The two women were smiling big and snapped a few pics on their phones, I was happy to give them something to bring back home:) We still would have rather have spent the day on Caspersen and hope it clears up before next weekend, not too many days left for the beach.
Happy Thonging,

Yeah, sorry about my last report. I don't venture out very far south of the main beach when I go to Caspersen, so when I arrived on Friday I just based conditions on what I saw on that main section of beach.

This morning (Sunday) I arrived early (8:30am) and decided to take a little walk before setting up shop for the day. Frankly I was appalled. Any more than 150 yards south of the entry ramps there are piles of dead fish still rotting along the shoreline and the stench was pretty bad. So it looks like the county only cleaned up the main beach section. While that works out fine for me since this is where I hang out, other thongers who like to go farther south will have unpleasant conditions for a while. Good news at least is that the water is clear.

Steve & Candy ... you're more than welcome to join me on the main section. I had couples & families all around me today with kids, nobody cares. Friday there was a woman with a g-string there and nobody cared either. BTW, where exactly is Midnight Pass beach and how do you get there? Is that the beach just south of Turtle Beach past the condos?

Okay I am now confused - lindros do you set up at the end of the road just right by the ramps or do you stop by the restaurant / pier before getting to Casepersen?  I wanted to head out there tomorrow (Monday) but would like to be by other thongers and not by dead fish.
lindros #223

Re:Caspersen Beach - Venice, FL

Date Posted:10/15/2012 01:38:00Copy HTML

By restaurant I think you mean Sharkey's by the pier? I drive way past that all the way to the end of Harbour Road and park the car. At that point I enter the beach via the entry ramps and I walk south of the last entry ramp. Depending on the day of the week and where other people are located I usually set up generally 75-100 yards south of the southern-most entry ramp. The beach is still clean here. I usually get there early (before 9am) and often have the beach to myself and can pick any place. Today, however, there was a couple already fishing where I usually set up, so given the fish stench farther south I actually set up closer to the ramps, probably only about 30-40 yards south of the last ramp and had no issues with the couples & families that were around me.
While I have seen other thongers (besides myself) in this section, it is a rarity, probably only 1 in 10 visits will I see another thonger on the main stretch of beach at Caspersen. To be with other thongers you'll need to walk about 0.5 to 1.5 miles farther south. Unfortunately, right now they didn't clean up this section of the beach, so there are thousands of dead fish still rotting here and it'll be a while before the stench clears. However, the main stretch of beach I described above has been cleaned but you'll be hanging out with non-thongers. If you want to be with other thongers I'd stick with Fort DeSoto until the dead fish are fully decayed.

looks to me like this is a price to pay for having a natural beach...  can't have the beach groomed without constant patrols from authorities.  I've seen the same thing happen elsewhere with storm damage, trees littering the beach or mounds of seaweed for a while.

Thank you Lindros for the invite. Everything should be clearing up well by this coming weekend and if not we will continue to go to Midnight Pass. Yes to drive there park at Turtle beach and walk south, past the red tile roof house up against the Gulf (next to Syd Soloman's old house). We usually go past Palmer Point and basically in front of Steven King's house, it's the one with the curved copper roof set way back. In some ways it is a nicer beach than Caspersen but overall we much prefer the "cut" at Caspersen. We hope this weekend turns out nice we'd like to get in as many beach days as we can at this point.

Just a quick note regarding conditions at caspersen. We were out last weekend and almost no dead fish left or smell and the water was beautiful, the Gulf has cooled off a bit around 80 a tad under or over. There were a lot of people out on Sat more people to the south but several couples as well.
We leave on Friday for a vacation so we won't be out for a while. We plan to do some thonging aboard the cruise ship, won't be our first time :)

We returned from our trip and went out to Caspersen on Friday. We have really bad news :( Hurricane Sandy took all of the sand left after TS Isaac and then some from the beach. The water never got as high as during TS Deby so the dunes were not affected but the beach sure was. At the cut the water's edge is 40-50' from the dunes, that means the key is only 40-50 yards wide from waters edge to waters edge at the "cut", scary skinny. And there is negative slope to the beach again and a big shelf cut, that at times is 2' high. We just have to hope and pray that conditions will renourish the beach again.
On a lighter note we had a great day yesterday! Lots of sun and a nice breeze, no umbrella needed as the weather and water have cooled. Gulf temp is just under 70 degrees burrr! The sun and sand were wonderfull. We returned from our trip with some new minimal beachwear, new pics are posted. Only saw one other thong couple out and a number of single male thongers. Lots of textile walkers, saw two older couples walking where the male was thonging but the female was textile, both smiled and waved. Bushwackers have all but dissappeared the last few times we have been out. We actually feel more comfortable when they are around and about, less chance of LE when they are around it seems. Kinda like a canary in a coal mine:) We saw some friends and socialized a little, going out again today or maybe just tomorrow. Our beach days are now numbered. We have already started visiting winter venues, no swimwear required:)
Happy Thonging,

Gorgeous day yesterday at Caspersen! All the big sharks teeth uncovered from the storm seem to have been already found:( Candy found a couple of nice ones and so did a couple of our friends, nothing spectacular, but then living in Venice we are a bit jaded when it comes to sharks teeth:) Lots of people out, 8-10 couples and too many singles to count. We saw one of the same older couples walking where he was thonging and she was not, I have a feeling the next time we see them they will stop and talk. Yesterday we were socializing with two other couples when they walked by, they gave a little more than just a wave. We like seeing a couple like them, it gives us hope for the future:) So many of the older single guys have wives that won't come out because they think they are too old or they are unhappy with their bodies, or both. It is a shame that women get so culturally pressured about their body shape in our society. If any of you are reading this please realize that many men (and women) do enjoy seeing women in their 60s, 70s and 80s topfree and thonging. With luck we are all going to grow old some day and it is nice to be reminded that life doesn't end when the effects of gravity become more noticeable. Bushwackers were back, most of the regulars anyway. Now all that is missing at Caspersen is a few million yards of sand that Sandy took with her:(

I was at Caspersen today ... first time in a while. Steve & Candy are correct about what Hurricane Sandy did to the beach ... definitely made it worse with a big chunk of sand gone leaving a 2' drop about a third of the way between the water line & the dune line. What's also worse is the quality of sand was degraded. Before Sandy there was actually soft powder sand all the way back to the dunes. Now that sand is mixed with a lot of shells and small rocks. That may be good for beachcombers, but not for people looking to throw a blanket on the sand and lay down in a thong. Water was shockingly cold at first, but after a minute I got used to it and could last about 10 minutes before starting to shiver. Weather was good to start but an annoying number of clouds blocked the sun in the afternoon.

We went out to caspersen on Sunday and it was a gorgeous day. Wind was out of the east, Gulf was flat and cold at about 67 degrees. It looks like we have been getting some sand back but still a long way to go. It seems like the negative slope actually helps the beach retain sand. Not many thongers out at all, we were the only mf couple and there were a ton of textile walkers. Seems like we never had a moment when there were not textiles coming our way from one or both directions. Gorgeous day none the less, hard to believe it's the middle of Novemeber and I still had to put up an umbrella :) Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Thonging!

After three weeks of not getting to the beach we finally made it out yesterday. Weather was cloudy 3 1/2 hours on the beach and we only had about 1/2 hour of direct sunshine :( The water temp is in the mid to low 60s still and the air temp wasn't really cold out but.... Not a lot of people out but then it was Wed. season has changed. Only a few textile walkers, two other couples and a few single male thongers. The beach has recieved a lot of sand and is getting built back up after Hurricane Sandy. Probably gained about 30 yards of sand at the "cut" area :) All in all a very nice day and we were happy to be able to get onto the beach!

Had a great day today at Caspersen. Set up in my usual spot 100 yds south of the ramps. Not too many people laying out but there were quite a few taking walks and digging for sharks teeth. No issues in my g-string, I saw many of the same faces and I'm sure they're used to me too. Water temp I think "warmed" up a few degrees the last couple days, probably upper-60s right now. I took a few 15-minute dips to cool off. The sun was shining brightly and was actually sweating a bit by noontime. Half-way between the tree line and the shore line is a "cut" in the sand with about a 3-4' drop off leftover from Sandy.

A gorgeous day yesterday! Gulf has warmed up to about 70, sunny with a light breeze, almost put up the umbrella and it's December :) The sand is definatly coming back to the beach, the step up close to the dunes is about half as high as it was and the waters edge has moved seaward at least 20 yards. There were quite a few people out on Sunday including textile walkers, bushwackers must be out of season now as we haven't seen any in quite a while. Most of the textile walkers are senior couples and they all smile and wave back when they walk by us. Either they like minimal swimwear or they are just used to it, or both :) We had a great day and hope the wonderful weather continues.

Another gorgeous Sunday at the beach! If it wasn't for the light breeze it would have been too hot, Gulf is still too cold for us but there were people in the water. A few couples were out, lot's of single males to the south and plenty of textile walkers. It was short day for us, a lot of Christmas stuff still to do. Next time out should be a full day for us.

Steve and Candy.......I could have written the same report about my day at Ft. Desoto on Saturday.  This is fantastic for the middle of December.  I was amazed at how few people were there.  I guess people are busy with Christmas and maybe assume it can't be beach weather in Dec.  I love it!

We were really happy we could make it to the beach Thursday before the cold front moved in. Gorgeous day! Just a little too much breeze out of the south, but it was sunny and nice. We had the beach mostly to ourselves and there were very few textile walkers. A few bushwackers, no other couples, and a few male thongers to the south. Water temp was 72 degrees now I think it would be 68 or less with the cold front we just recieved. We had a great day! Next warm day in Jan and we will try to get out again. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

First day of the year was gorgeous weather, almost no breeze and really hot. If the Gulf wasn't in the 60s we would have been in the water :) Lot's of people out, mostly textile walkers, but there were a few couples and several single males and the bushwackers were back. A lot of the sand has come back but still quite a ways to go. Looking forward to our next day out, tourist season is officially here.
Happy New Year and Happy Thonging,

I was out on the beach on the 1st.
Maybe I saw you SteveandCandy.
I was wearing black short shorts a la here
https://bodyaware.com/product/view/Q014
I wasn't brave enough to walk around in my Dore VLC string.

Caspersen seems like a pretty nice beach.
A few too many beach walkers and treasure hunters than I would like though.

I was visiting west Fla from Baltimore.
Got a chance to check out Ft De Soto and Siesta Key as well.

Ft De Soto definitely had a group of thong people despite the overcast
weather. Though not as many as Caspersen on the 1st.
No women in thongs that I saw. Just men.

I should've introduced myself.
I guess there is no safe/secluded place to be naked on the beach.
I was hoping there would be. There were just too many "textile walkers"
as you call them. Oh well.

You should have said hello and mentioned the thong board. We were with a friend sitting down by the cut. That far down we don't worry too much about the textile walkers, I try to sit down as they pass and Candy will sometimes cover her boobs, but the only time we get really concerned is when they have children with then. Then we both cover, other than that, the beach has been c/o for a very long time and many of the textile walkers are regulars and not bothered at all by nudity or partial nudity. Takes some getting used to. It is now season and there are sometime tourists that ask to take a picture, I like that :)

We went out yesterday, or tried to anyway. Had gotten reports of red tide starting on Sun afternoon but we wanted to see for ourselves. Bad news first, lots of little dead fish, and both of us were coughing. Good news is that the fish kill was not that large and wind and tide could clear the beach in a matter of a couple of days of the right weather. Water temp was just over 71 degrees and the sand keeps piling up. I would say that from the worst point which was just post TS Deby we have gained 25 yards of beach back maybe a little more. Almost to pre-Deby conditions. No couples out yesterday and only a few single male thongers, we only stayed about 10 minutes and didn't even bring our gear out let alone set up. Spent the rest of the day at Midnight Pass, clean clear water, no red tide, but no other thongers:( Gorgeous day though and it is the middle of Jan. can't complain on that level. As nice as Midnight is, we much prefer the freedom and social scene at Caspersen.

ORLCPL:  Doesn't look like the weather Thursday will be conducive to beach weather anyway. Latest forecast has only a high of 72 with a 30% chance of precip and breezy conditions. You'll have better weather if you head to Miami on Thursday.

Talked to a friend who was at Caspersen today and the red tide was pushed south by the wind, no coughing. Still the dead little fish but he said it really wasn't too bad a smell, only a wiff every once in a while. Sunday was the day, lot's of couples out and many sans thong :) We don't pay much attention to the textile walkers when we are out on a busy day with a lot of couples. We are way down at the cut so by the time they get to us they have already run the gauntlet :) Young children are our only concern and if the parents walk them down that far they must be cool with minimal (or no) attire.

What a gorgeous Sunday yesterday! No dead fish on the beach, sunny and warm, gulf was calm with a light breeze, water temp was 66 degrees. The intracoastel from Lemon Bay all the way north to Roberts Bay is full of dead fish :( but no red-tide. The bush area at Caspersen smells really bad, two of the couples out yesterday who normally set up right against the dunes were out in the middle of the beach because of the occasional whiff from the bush. Not a good day for the "bushwhackers", and not a lot of textile walkers. One FF textile couple with a young girl of maybe 8-9 yo walked all the way down past the gay section and back. That was really the only time anyone had to be discreet. Not a lot of thongers out for such a nice day, 4 couples and several single males. We had a great day, we've really been missing the beach. One new face and the rest were all people we knew. Might get a little more time in today.

Another gorgeous day yesterday (Monday) it's hard to believe it's the end of January. If the Gulf was warmer we would have gone swimming it was so hot. We had one of our friends sit with us most of the day, almost no one out. Near the end of the day a beautiful young newbie couple came down the beach and set up near us. We chatted a bit when they were on their way out and I think they will be out again :-) It's that time of year, season is here and new faces almost every day. We both got a lot of sun and had a lot of fun, we love our beach!

It was a breezy day yesterday (Sunday), we got a couple of hours on the beach before going back home to get ready for the SuperBowl. We had to set up back against the dunes because of the wind and didn't walk and socialize much at all, it was too cold walking in the breeze. We arrived about 2:00 and there was only one other couple, set up quite a ways to the north of us. Three single male thongers were set up very close to our spot, but it is the spot we have chosen so we just set up regardless of who is there before us, everyone had a great day I think. I know we did. The smell from the bush is slowly going away and you really can't tell when your on the beach. Even yesterday when we were set up against the dunes you couldn't smell a thing. I hope we have good weather next weekend, not that we are complaining:-)

Well the weather was nice, but hardly any other thongers.  I set up near the dunes but the smell and flies got annoying quickly.  The fish skeletons were all over and I just wasnt feeling it.  I only stayed for a hour and the clouds came in right after I was leaving.  Maybe next trip will be better.
