Re:Caspersen Beach - Venice, FL

We arrived really late yesterday, almost 3:00, there was one other couple still there that left shortly after we arrived. Beautiful day, a light breeze, water is still too cold, the sand is clean and the smell is almost all gone from the bush. Quite a few MM couples to the south of us and a few single males by us, one of whom was swimming, brrr! Not a lot of textile walkers just one family of 4 that must have walked 4-5 miles, bet those kids slept good last night. We both have the day off and we are going out again today (Mon) hopefully much much earlier :-)
Happy Thonging,

What a difference a day makes, I guess I should say what a difference a weekday makes:-)We arrived early (for us) and there was a stiff breeze out of the south/southwest, we had to set up against the dunes. There is almost no smell now even deep into the bush. Watch out that you don't step on any fish skeletons though as there are still quite a few in the tide lines.  Gorgeous day, sunny and hot and it's the middle of Feb wow! I think there were more textile walkers than on Sunday, at least there were no families with children and they were all mostly gone by 3:00. We were the only couple out and there were so many single males you couldn't count them. Four were set up very close to our spot, so we just set up anyway, probably only 10 feet to the nearest one to the south and even closer to the north but we were in the dunes and the vegetation gave a semblance of privacy. They were all there first and we really don't mind. Quite a few came up to say Hi and at one point Candy found herself in a group of about six male thongers counting me. Everyone was very polite and Candy had a lot of fun with all of the attention and so did I. Most of the single males it seems are married and have wives that will not join them on the beach, so I think they were very happy to see a lady out with her husband and both in minimal swimwear. I am quite outgoing and outspoken and I think that led them to be a little more open with their questions. It never hurts to ask, as long as you respect the answer you receive. Everyone was very respectful and they were just happy and excited to see an exhibitionist couple who isn't fazed by anything. A wonderful day for everyone.
Happy Thonging!

Hi Steve and Candy!

I always look forward to your posts and can't wait to get back to Caspersen. I met Lindros on my last visit in October, and talked to a
couple that knew you, but they had not seen you in a couple of weeks. I plan to be there toward the end of February through most
of March. Hope to meet you at some point. I am a nudist and usually go pretty far south. Will also visit Haulover and Bowman's Beach.

We were able to get to the beach yesterday from about 1:00 till 5:00. It was partly cloudy but still plenty of sunshine, wind was strong out of the south, water temp is still really cold at about 62 degrees. A group of 4 ladies and 1 man were set up in our spot, all textiles. The man came over and thanked us for having made accommodations for their kayaks and he told us that he and his wife frequent a couple of the nudist clubs up in lutz, We will not be surprised to see him and his wife out without their textile guests some day soon:-)  Lot's of textile walkers until about 3:30-4:00 then they pretty much were gone. Probably a dozen single male thongers some to the north of us and most of them to the south. There used to be two couples who would regularly come on Mondays but either we arrived too late or they are waiting for it to really warm up. It really was a beautiful day for the middle of March and its only going to get better from now on. We were told that Sunday was a gorgeous day with a lot of the regulars out, we had other commitments and couldn't make it. Tsqtpie and Orlcpl we would love to meet on the beach, please let us know when you are planning to visit and we will try to make it out. Thanks.
Happy Thonging!

My wife and I will be renting a home in S Venice area for a week from April 16 to 22.  Great pool area and privacy fence, Southwest facing.

Private me if you'd like more info on open pool time each day for sunning and social, into the evening if desired.
Swimsuit optional, thongs preferred!

We can also coordinate beach times at Caspersen or elsewhere.

Yesterday (Tue) the weather turned out nice and we were out from about 2:00 until just after 5:00. Almost no other thongers on the beach, two single males and one wasn't even thonging because of the amount of textile walkers. Almost all of the textiles were m/f couples and the average age was probably 65yo. After about 4:30 we finally had the beach to ourselves, so many textile walkers it was unusual but then it is high season for a little while yet. The Gulf was a bit rough, 2-3 feet, light onshore breeze 10-12 mph, really warm day almost put up the umbrella. Gulf temperature is still a bit cold but warming up 67-68 degrees. Spring is here and summer weather is just around the corner. We didn't get to do much socializing yesterday, but soon it will be hard to just sit and relax so we were happy to enjoy the beach to ourselves.

We were able to get out to the beach early yesterday before noon and stayed till just after 5:00. It was a really breezy day, wind out of the north at about 20-25mph, Gulf was rough at 4-5 feet, the sun was shining all day, no clouds. We set up just south of the cut in the lee of a sea grape and it was hot and sunny all day. When it got too hot all we had to do was step out 2' away into the wind and you cooled off quick. Almost no textile walkers at all with the wind as it was. But we had a Father and two barely teenage kids and a dog set up the next space down from us and they stayed all day :-( They left about 4:00 and then we had the beach to ourselves :-) Only one single male thonger who reads this board, and three bushwhackers were out. We really had a great day! It would have been better without kids close by but all in all a beautiful day for one so cold and windy.
Happy Thonging,

Happy Easter! What a gorgeous day yesterday! (Sat) We arrived a little late and stayed even later :-) The Gulf was fairly calm 1-1.5' wind out of the SE at about 8-10mph, water is still too cold for us but it's warming up. We met some new people and had a great time. There was a young couple from NY, really cute kids, very nice people, down on vacation. I think they enjoyed finding a beach that suited (or rather unsuited) them :-) We are starting to see some of the regulars that we haven't seen for a while, as the weather and the Gulf warms up that will continue. There was one couple that arrived by PWC that made comments about people needing to put more clothes on, but they didn't stay long. They had arrived after all the textile walkers had gone, to each his own. We are looking forward to our next day out.
Happy Thonging,

We were out again yesterday (Tue), gorgeous day! There were much fewer textile walkers than on the weekend and only 3 single males to the south. The Gulf was nearly flat and over 70 degrees now, a light breeze NNW, probably our last day without an umbrella, it was really hot out. When we arrived about 1:00 the color of the Gulf with the sun high overhead was perfect, beautiful turquoise green water. We feel so lucky to have this beach close by. In the afternoon there were a couple of non-native bushwackers who would occasionally pop out to the beach and look both ways then go back in the bush. It is hard not to be amused by their antics :-)  Nobody bothered us at all and the beach was for the most part empty, which makes for an enjoyable c/o beach day. Soon we will be able to swim and the ice in our cooler won't last all day and all of the regulars will be back. We like having the beach to ourselves but sometimes miss the socializing aspect.
Happy Thonging!

What an awesome day yesterday! A beautiful Sunday, we arrived early for us, before noon, and stayed late. The wind was SSE about 8-10mph, Gulf was flat then grew to 1-1.5' as the afternoon breeze picked up. Water temp went down a little to 70 degrees. Light scattered clouds and a very hot day, had to put the umbrella up. We started off with a textile threesome (adult daughter and senior parents) camped right next to us. They left after a couple of hours and during that time we did most of our walking and socializing. There were quite a lot of people out, 6 other couples and about the same number of single males. Not near as many textile walkers, season is dying down for them :-) By 3:30 we pretty much had the beach to ourselves, 3 single males to the south and 2 couples to the north. Steve switched from a conservative thong to not so conservative attire after the textile 3sum left and Candy went to TnW, she prefers wraps over thongs :-) While walking we noticed an unusual pattern at the waters edge, all along the sand would jut in and out, and undulating up and down, almost like a jagged edge to the shoreline. I think nature is renourishing the beach, the difference between post TS Deby and now is probably 30 yards more beach. It seems that we now have more beach than even before the storms of last summer :-) We hope this continues. The only bad part is that there are very few sharks teeth lately and they are mostly not "keepers".  It was nice to see so many couples out and fewer textile walkers. It may be premature to say but beach season is here :-)

Was at Caspersen all day today, arriving about 9am and leaving around 4:30pm. Overall I had a nice day, the weather was great, and water temps are inching upward probably about 74 today. I set up about 150 yards south of the entry ramps wearing a g-string. In the morning there were a moderate amount of walkers but not so many in the afternoon. However the beach started to fill up with patrons laying in the sun as the day went on. The people who sat around me didn't have any issues with my swimwear choice. Was happy to have a large French family of about 7 set up right behind me but they didn't stay too long. Otherwise a mix of couples, single people and families nearby. Only bad thing was the flies were biting in the morning but by noon they left me alone.

Very interesting thing happened around mid-day. Evidently someone on the beach about 50-75 yards south of me got absolutely hammered, I'm talking about drunk big-time. The person couldn't stand up and was vomiting. I've frankly never seen anyone so drunk, and it was only lunchtime! I actually thought his life might be in jeopardy given he was out in the hot sun probably dehydrated by the alcohol. A friend of his phoned for help but it took about an hour for the ambulance to arrive surprisingly.

This was my first visit to Caspersen probably since January. The beach definitely changed, but not sure if it's for the better. The entire beach section in front of the entry ramps along the edge of the water is covered with rocks. There's no way to get in the water to go swimming or dig for sharks teeth in this section. I'm not sure what that would do to where everyone decides to set up, but I can't imagine all those big rocks just floated there naturally.

We were out for a little while yesterday (Wed), arrived about 1:00 and stayed till 3:30. The Gulf is just over 74 degrees now and a nice light breeze in the afternoon. The water quality was spectacular, very clear and probably 20' of visibility. It was a very hot and sunny day, had to set up the umbrella. About a dozen single males to the south of us, one other thong couple that we know and three textile couples all very close to us. None of the three had any issues with our attire or lack there of. Very few textile walkers, the beach ferry is closed on Wed and that may have something to do with it, it is certainly part of why the section to the south of us was so populated. No rocks on the beach down by us, other than the occasional piece of coral which is normal. One of the textile couples remembered us from last summer and they could not believe how much more sand there was at the "cut", another textile couple was set up under "observation point" (it has another nic) and were told by our thong friends that they were alternating between shouting at each other and then hugging. Not a bad place I gues to try to work out your problems :-) A beautiful day, we were happy to get out for a little while. Just an FYI for those reading, where we set up at the "cut" and the ramps where Lindros sets up is over a mile apart :-)
Happy Thonging!

Nice day at Caspersen today. Set up in my usual place, no issues with my g-string from the people who set up around me, some of whom were familiar faces. Met a nice couple that just moved to Bradenton from West Virginia so we talked a while about the area beaches, restaurants, living in the region, etc.

Water very clean and the water temperature is creeping up there, maybe in the 77-78 range. Interestingly on one of my dips in the water a large school of probably 100 stingrays drifted right next to me ... like a foot away! I just stood still. However a couple hours later there was a young boy out swimming and he started screaming for help. He wasn't drowning (he was standing still upright in the water), nobody knew what was going on and the father jumped in the water and started swimming while his son was screaming "what do I do". I didn't go in after the kid because I knew what was going on ... another school of stingrays were swimming past him and he got scared. The boy was fine after they past.

Only disappointment for today was that the flies were biting more than normal, even into the early afternoon hours which was annoying. But overall it was a great day.

We had a very nice day out yesterday (Friday), arrived late, almost 2:00 and stayed till just after 5:00. Started out cloudy and then the clouds broke up and it was very sunny for the rest of the day. Wind was out of the south, stiff breeze 12-15mph,  Gulf was 2'+, tide was coming in, Gulf temp is almost 80 degrees now :) Only two other couples out, one by us that we know casually, and one way up by the big trailhead, never made it that far to see if we knew them. 5 single males to the south and 3 to the north of us. Light textile traffic walking the beach, on one of our walks Candy hit a spot where there were a ton of teeth (keepers) and a textile threesome walking up from the south stayed right there with us mining the same spot. They didn't seem to mind the minimal swimwear at all and we were probably there 10 mins together :) Todays weather looks crappy :( Tomorrow looks better :)

Wow, great day at Caspersen. The water was crystal clear, could see my feet on the bottom. Definitely the clearest I've seen the water since moving here early 2012. The sun was shining bright and there were no clouds. The snow bird crowd is thinning out even further. There were probably only 60% of patrons compared to last Wednesday. I got there shortly after 9am, flies were not an issue this morning. By about 2:30pm I felt like I got enough sun for the day so I took a dip, showered off and left. Didn't want to over-do the sun as I have 3 straight days in Miami to enjoy next.

Another gorgeous day yesterday (Monday) took my first swim of the season :) The Gulf was a bit choppy, wind out of the south about 12-15 mph, tide was really high, water temp just over 78 degrees. Nice sunny day with some light overcast and the breeze was very nice. Almost no textile walkers:) and consequently for us no textiles needed at all  :)  We arrived about 1:30 and stayed till almost 6:30, and still didn't want to leave. We only saw one other couple, a young textile couple that we have seen and talked with before, there were about a half dozen single male thongers set up to the south of us. We had a nice chat with one that we hadn't seen since last fall. We also saw a textile single male who carries a tackle box and is a regular, the beach gossip is that he has a camera in the box and takes pics/videos of people on the beach. As it turns out it is just that, gossip, no camera, just a guy who likes to walk the beach:) I think the fishing pole and tackle box are just props to make him feel more comfortable walking the beach. We had a great day! Can't wait to get out again.

A very windy day yesterday (Sat), we had a beach day planned and we haven't been out on a Sat. for quite a while. Just as we were leaving the house it started to rain:(  We went back home and waited 20 mins then left again for the beach. We were bound and determined to go to the beach, btw we are not a BDSM couple :) We arrived about 1:30 and the wind was out of the NNW 20mph with occasional gusts, the Gulf was 2-3', Gulf temp was back down to 78 degrees. We picked a spot shielded from the wind by a big sea grape on the dunes, it was mostly sunny with occasional clouds, very hot when you were out of the wind. There are a few couples we only see on Saturdays but they were not out. There was a threesome and a couple as well as two single males to the north of us, and one single male to the south. The wind was blowing a lot of sand and it was not a good day to walk and socialize :( Almost no textile walkers for obvious reasons and the thongers who were out all packed up and left about an hour or so after we arrived. After about two hours the wind and sea picked up quite a bit, wind was steady at 25mph with the occasional gust and the Gulf grew to 4+', tide was out and started to come back in at 3:45, there were probably lots of sharks teeth but after one attempt to walk the beach we went back and just sat and enjoyed the show. We stayed until almost 5:00 and had a very nice day all things considered, we never felt another raindrop and watching the Gulf when it is rough is very enjoyable. Even tucked away out of the wind there was a light coat of sand on everything, all in all a good day, but not the one we were expecting:)

Was out at Caspersen today. Lots of sunshine made it feel much warmer than the air temperature. Water feels like around upper 70s, however with the west wind the Gulf was a bit choppy and there was a lot of seaweed. As usual no issues in my g-string setting up in my usual spot. I have tomorrow off so I'm deciding whether to return here, go to the Fort or maybe try thonging at Siesta Key for the first time.

Re:Caspersen Beach - Venice, FL

We were out yesterday (Sunday, Mother's Day), got there early, before noon. There were 3 textile couples set up 20-30 yards to the north of us when we got there and 3 thong couples 50-60 yards north of the textiles and a couple of single males to the south. Very light breeze from the NW, it felt like the heat of summer, had to be at least 90, Gulf water temp is just over 82 degrees. The Gulf was choppy and a lot of seaweed in the water and at it's edge. We took our walks to the south and never went north past the textiles to socialize. One of the thong couples took a walk south and we chatted a bit, as we were standing and talking a LE boat came up from the south going slow, we saw him use his binocs a couple of times but not on us. No one was topfree, even though it is my understanding that it is not illegal in Sarasota county for a woman to be TnT. We waved and smiled and he waved and smiled back and kept going north. After a couple of hours it looked like the textiles were getting ready to leave and we took a walk south. When we turned around it looked like someone new had set up right next to us. As we got closer we could see children playing in the water and realized they were the ones next to us. When we got back to our chairs and sat down, the new people were set up 10 feet, I mean literally 10 feet from us. This is on the most rural and wild beach in Sarasota County, 20 yards would have been a whole lot better:)  It was two adult males and three children all 10 yo or younger, 2 girls and a boy. We guessed that the mother's day present was take the kids out of the house and give Mom a break:) We stuck it out for almost another hour, if we didn't have so much stuff we would have just moved. We decided to break down our stuff head home and visit another (textile) place we frequent that is on our way. It was a nice day out but neither of us feels comfortable around young children when we are thonging, I know there are a lot of family thongers and family nudists but that is not us.

I feel a lttile tense when something like that happens.  The funny thing is kids under about age 12 don't care.  They're busy doing their own stuff.  Yet they parents get bent out because of the kids.

Great day at Caspersen today with plenty of sunshine, refreshing water & light breezes. The Gulf had hardly any seaweed at all, so that mostly all gone, and the water was clear too. Also didn't have to walk out 100 yards into the water for the water to get up to my chest, so there's been some shifting to the sand at the bottom of the Gulf. Very light crowd today, probably not more than 15-20 people between me and the entry ramps.

At around 3pm these four teens arrived, probably high-school  or young college age 16-19 and set up right next to me. There were 3 girls and 1 guy, they all wore traditional swimsuits. Two of the girls were a lesbian couple and the guy & other girl were another couple. Each couple was quite frisky, both in the water and on their beach blankets. Lots of touching, kissing, laying on top of each other, etc, even the girl-on-girl. I couldn't stay for the whole show, LOL, because I had to leave by 4pm, but it was nice seeing them so free. Plus they couldn't seem to give a hoot about my g-string, so all is good!

Another nice day at Caspersen again, almost a carbon copy of yesterday.

Only downside was that a group of four fat alcohol-induced rednecks arrived and as they were walking down the beach one of them said "so do you want to set up next to the banana hammock (an obvious mock on my suit) or farther down" and then someone else said "oh let's set up next to the banana hammock". Fortunately they only stayed an hour and as they were leaving they kept turning around to look back at me. Whatever.

However, the positive side was that two girls (probably in their early 20s or late teens) set up on the other side of me and stayed all afternoon. Being chain smokers they weren't my type but were quite cute. Anyway as I was leaving I said goodbye to them and they responded in kind, but then one of the girls said "by the way, we admire your courage wearing your swim suit". I told them thanks, much appreciated, and that they should wear thongs too. The one girl said "I don't have the guts to show off my booty". I told them that nobody really cares what you wear on that beach and that they would look smoking hot in a thong which they were happy to hear. So we each made each other's day. BTW I'm almost sure they were tourists not locals.

Gorgeous day yesterday (Sat)! Hot and sunny, the sand was HOT, light breeze NNW 4-6mph, Gulf temp just over 82 degrees, calm, still a bit of seaweed both in the water and at the edge but not tons or anything. There were a 4-5 couples out and quite a few single males, very light textile traffic, one mother and young son about 10yo, kept popping in and out of the bush, we were happy to see them finally walking out after about an hour of never knowing where they would be next. A couple of noob singles males doing the same, in and out of the bush, up and down the beach. Often single males who are new to the beach just don't ever sit still and enjoy where they are, I don't get it but and it seems that neither do they:) Late in the day we had a couple who we know from the beach come and join us, we had socialized with some of the other people we know from the beach. It was a less than minimal swimwear day for many of the couples, us included:) It was nice to have the beach back from the tourists and be able to relax and enjoy the sun. Sunday (today) will probably be a busy day for regulars, we do not have a beach day planned today:) But we will be out again soon we hope.
Happy Thonging!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to everyone! We had an awesome day out yesterday (Fri), gorgeous day, the Gulf looked beautiful, turquoise green, a little choppy and still over 82 degrees. It was hot and sunny with a stiff breeze out of the north, when the wind would shift a little and we were out of the breeze it was too hot. The water felt great, still a little bit of seaweed but otherwise perfect.

Two couples set up to the north of us and two to the south, only a few single male thongers. We did a walk by in both directions and didn't recognize any of the couples out, really with the exception of a few of the beach walkers no one we knew was out.

We have developed our own etiquette when it comes to people on the beach that we do not know. We take a lot of short walks looking for sharks teeth. When we pass someone that we do not know we wave and smile, on our way back to our chairs we wave again and if someone feels like chatting they will come down to the waters edge. Rarely will we go up to someone and start a conversation, usually only if they are thongers and set up very close to us. No one came down to the water to chat on our walks so we didn't do any socializing :(

It was a light day for textile walkers, which we always take advantage of and enjoy. Almost no bushwhackers have been out the last few times we have been on the beach.

Summer is definitely here and our new larger umbrella was needed. I am going to take a picture of our gear set up and post it to our profile, we have added some new stuff this year that is really working out well, our ipod dock is going to die soon though:( It is a harsh environment for electronics.

We probably won't get out today and will miss the Saturday crowd of regulars but we will be able to get in at least one more beach day this holiday weekend.

Happy Thonging!

Wow! Sunday was absolutely gorgeous weather, almost no breeze until about 2:00 and the Gulf was flat calm and still over 82 degrees. Still quite a bit of seaweed in the water :( There were so many people out it felt like Haulover, lol. Over a dozen couples out to the north of us and a few to the south, several single males and very light textile traffic. We haven't done that much socializing since last summer and we saw beach friends we haven't seen out for months. We arrived early and unfortunately had to leave early as well, but what a wonderful day, it was so nice to see so many thongers out. We can't wait for our next beach day:)

Yesterday (Sat) started out to be such a bad day, raining and all cloud cover, we thought we would not get any beach time in. About 11:00 the sun broke out and we decided to just go for it. It turned out to be a gorgeous day on the beach :) We arrived before noon and there was almost no wind and the Gulf was flat calm and stunningly beautiful as we came over the dunes. Almost no one out, we talked with one person we know from this board and later in the day two couples set up to the north of us. One couple we have seen before and it was nice to see them again. Very attractive young couple, both of them very fit, they walked down the beach past us, he in a speedo and she had on a thong bikini. We stayed out till almost 7:00 pm, around 2:30 the wind picked up out of the west and drove all the black flies away:) Candy found a spot where the surf was washing the shore and there were tons of sharks teeth in one small area, most of them keepers. Around 6:00 a thong couple that we know came out and we socialized a bit before leaving. A beautiful day, we got so much sun I will start getting comments from everyone in my textile life, sometimes when someone tells me "wow you are so tan" I feel like telling them where we get our tans at :) No beach for us today :( and through next week, company (textile) will be in town.
Happy Thonging!

We were out yesterday (Tue), what a gorgeous day! We arrived a little after noon and stayed until after 7:00 pm. When we arrived the Gulf was flat calm and a light breeze out of the SSW about 5-6mph, just enough to keep the bugs away. As the day went on the wind clocked around and as it changed direction it got stronger. By 3:30 the wind was out of the North at about 15-18 mph and the Gulf was starting to get a little choppy. The water temp was perfect at just over 82 degrees. The beach took a beating from TS Andrea, not as bad as TS Deby last year but we lost a lot of sand, the tide line was all the way up to the dunes.
Almost no one was out on the beach and very few textile walkers, my thong tan line is barely visible now:) There were a few single males out and two couples so far north of us we couldn't tell if they were textile or not and one thong couple that we know came out for an hours walk on the beach..
We posted a couple of pics of the beach on our profile. We love our beach and can't wait to have another beach day.
Happy Thonging!

Great day at Caspersen today (Wed). Water was like a lake in the morning but got a bit choppy in the afternoon, but zero sea weed and the perfect temperature (low 80). The sun was very strong but I took plenty of sun screen and bathed myself in it as necessary. Funny but it seems like I set up right near a sharks tooth "hot spot". There were 10 people with florida shovels digging for teeth right in front of me for like 90 minutes but I look up & down the beach didn't see anyone else scooping teeth! Coincidence?

I got to enjoy the beach today for a couple hours arriving right before noon, just one couple when I got there and about 5 single guys, a couple of bushwackers as well.  Later another couple arrived but went much farther down to set up.  The water and sun were perfect, but had to leave early.

We were out yesterday (thurs) and overall had a great day. We arrived a little after noon and left just after 7:00 pm, nice long beach day and we both got a lot of sun. There were no couples out, 5 single males set up and a couple of Bushwhackers. When we arrived there was constant thunder to the East with a very dark storm cell looming. Radar app on my phone showed that it might never reach the beach and it didn't, a few of the people out, broke down and left when it was looming close by. The Gulf was fairly calm, about 1' or less, when we arrived we went in the water a couple of times for a swim and found the water temp already feels a bit too warm, about 87 degrees. We noticed some green stuff floating in the water and by about 3:00 it was everywhere, the coral on the reef had spawned and the green slime was abundant this year. We didn't go in the water anymore at all, the good news is that it is a once a year occurrence and should be gone by Sunday, maybe even Sat. We cooled off using ice cubes from the cooler, which was fun:) We took a few walks but Candy didn't find many teeth even with an outgoing tide, she wasn't willing to get into the slime for a tooth when she did see one. We wont be able to get out at all this weekend but next week we should have a few days out.

Steve & Candy, thanks for your updates! After visiting warm mineral springs yesterday I stopped out at Manasota Beach late in the afternoon on the way back home and saw the all the green slime in the water and was wondering what that was ... pretty gross!

Hi Orlcpl, it doesn't sound like you go south far enough to see us, we are south of the "cut", probably 1.4 to 1.6 miles south of the ramps to the beach. If you go down that far and we are out you can't miss us:)

What a beautiful day yesterday (Wed)! We arrived about 12:30 with thunder booming to the east and stayed until 7:30 and only got about 10 drops of rain. When we arrived there was a nice steady 8-10mph breeze from WSW and the Gulf was flat calm, the breeze moved to the west later in the afternoon and died down a bit. The Gulf was clear and had cooled off a bit to 85 degrees, 4-5' of visibility, I snorkeled off and on all day and found some really nice teeth and bone. Very few people out, about 6-8 single males, no other couples and only a couple of bushwhackers, there were no textile walkers at all yesterday:) It clouded up around 3-4:00 and really wasn't too hot on the beach even out from under the umbrella. Judging from the tide lines the high tide from the supermom made it almost to the dunes in most places, thankfully it wasn't raining at high tide, no major erosion, the beach is maintaining itself well. We socialized a bit with a few of the single males, one of whom recognized us from this board:) A very nice quiet day, the Gulf was perfect and we mostly had the beach all to ourselves.

We were at the beach on Thursday for just a short time. The green slime was back a little bit and Mote marine reported in the newspaper that it is an algae bloom and not coral spawn. It was very light and only concentrated right on the waters edge. There was one other couple out and quite a few single males set up, the Gulf was a bit choppy 1' to 1.5' still a very nice day and glad we could get out even if only for a short time.

Yesterday (Sun) was a quiet day at the beach, I think the weather scared off many of the regulars:) We arrived just after 12:30 and left around 6:00. Only got about 10 drops of rain, it all went by us to the north. The Gulf was rough, 3-3.5' and it was too windy to set up an umbrella, wind was onshore at about 15-18mph. Lots of clouds moving fast so the sun never was full on for very long. We saw 2 other couples out and spent most of the day with one of them, 4 or 5 single males set-up and almost no bushwhackers. I did get to do some body surfing, very strong northward current and you would come out of the water with a light coat of sand. We set up a shower now, since the green slime hit us last week, which made the day so much better for everyone. We were told that Sat had been a very busy day on the beach.

Yea, I didn't even think about the beach.  I've gotten spoiled after 7 years in Pinellas.  Low chance of rain, low wind, high temp, or I don't go.  Which wasn't the case a few years ago.

Re:Caspersen Beach - Venice, FL

Spent two good days at Caspersen on the 4th & 5th. Water had lots of waves, reminded me more of the Atlantic Ocean than the Gulf, but I didn't experience any rips or undertow. While the water was a bit cloudy from all the churning, there was no sea weed and no green algae from the previous week. I also noticed there was less white sand and more black sand than usual, at least where I was at.

On the 4th I didn't arrive until late morning. Usually I like to set up early before 9am on the fringe of the main beach (100 yards south of the entry ramps), that way I would stay away from the large masses, and any other people that wander down can decide whether they want to set up next to a thonger. But by arriving late on a holiday I initially thought I'd be needing to set up much farther south to escape the masses. However as soon as I entered the beach, maybe 30 yards from the ramps, there was a family speaking French. The mother was hot wearing a rio/thong with 50-60% butt crack exposure, and her 12-13 year old daughter was topless! That is very rare for a west coast Florida beach, usually only see that in Miami that has more French tourists. So even though the beach was real crowded right there I decided WTH and just set up right there next to the French family rather than walk down another 1/2 mile to escape the masses. Had absolutely no issues, everyone else around was pretty cool.

On the 5th I arrived real early and set up in the same spot which again is closer to the entry ramps than where I usually set up. Again I didn't have any issues. A few families as they arrived I could tell once they noticed me they would head the other direction or would walk on past to keep their distance; however a number of other families & couples had no issues setting up right next to me. So it was another good day, or should I say half-day because it started raining real heavy by about 1:30pm so had to call it quits early.

Was at Caspersen today,7/6/13. Set up south just past the crowd. Later walked south. Saw about 4-5 men in thongs. 2 topless women. Another woman had on a gstring bikini. My observation was that no one seemed at all bothered by any of the minimal attire. This makes for a very enjoyable time at the beach. It was a great day.

We had such a great day out yesterday (Sat), considering our weather pattern of late I would say it was a "perfect" day weather wise:) We caught the very edge of one of the storm cells and it lasted maybe 5 minutes and that was it. We arrived just before 1:00 and left about 5:30, we set up in our usual spot and we are slowly but surely getting our beach gear fine tuned. The Gulf was about 1-1.5', the wind was light out of the SSW when we arrived, the breeze picked up a bit around 2:30-3:00, no issues with bugs, water was clear of algae, but not clear enough to snorkel, water temp is still around 82 degrees. It was a very social day for us, saw some friends we haven't seen on the beach for quite a while, talked with a couple that we have seen out on a number of occasions but we had never talked with them before and met a new couple that was there for their first time. 4-5 couples out, a number of single males to the south, no bushwackers to speak of, which has been the case for some time now. All the rain has not done much damage at all to the dunes or the beach, the beach is still growing. We did not do any toothing at all, to much socializing:) We can't wait for our next beach day.
Happy Thonging!

My man and I are new to the sun coast, having just moved from the AZ desert. I am so glad we found this board!! We felt adventurous enough to make the drive down to Venice today and it was gorgeous! We hiked about 1/4 mile south of the crowded area and were easily out of eyesight range of the masses. We stopped and chatted with another couple who indicated they hadn't seen much foot traffic, so we felt comfortable enough to set up camp. We were both able to get some sun on our bits and had enough sight-range to use discretion when a comber or two came by a-toothing. No strange vibe, no discomfort... A secluded and 'chill' atmosphere. I'm glad we went and we'll probably go back soon. (After we check out Ft. DeSoto.) Lido & Siesta are our regular haunts, but we haven't explored them enough to find the liberated nooks and crannies yet. Thanks again for the discovery of a new getaway!
