Re:Do women actually like or even really wear one piece thong swimsuits?

I once saw a guy wearing a thong leotard at my local gym last year. My friend had been pressing me to go, but she never went again when she saw this guy!

"Girls workout clothes? He's got to be gay!"
" Not necessarily, he could be a dancer or something"

I gave up without a fight, its pretty hard to tell you 15 year old best friend (I was same age) what's gay and what's not. I seem to have grown up a hell of a lot quicker than all my friends on the gay isssue, partly because my mother has lesbian friends.

I really don't understand why people judge by clothing, ITS MATERIAL FOR GODS SAKE!

I managed to get a one-piece thong for the other half over the summer. It wasn't my ideal one, but they are tricky to find at reasonable prices now and I was curious to see how she'd look in one and how she would react, but wasn't prepared to pay a load for something she was likely to chuck at the back of the drawer...

It was a very reluctant modelling session and I could tell that she didn't like the pattern, the cut or the smell (some cleaning chemical smell)! I told her she looked great and it did look hot on her so I wasn't just saying it. Finally got her to try it out on the beach in August and after going swimming in it and seeing the photos I took of her in it she was won over. The main thing she liked was the comfort and the way she could run about and swim properly in it and not have her boobs pop out or anything. Going in the sea got rid of the smell too!

I don't think she'll get a lot of wear out of it to be honest - strange tan lines. But I do hope she'll wear it a few times when she's being more active or even at a swimming pool. That might take some guts, but she's quite adventurous and I've shown her that some of the female members here have worn them at their public swimming pools.

The leg cut is a bit too high to be honest, and narrow at the front. She needs to keep waxing or shaving to look neat at the front.

All in all, she's a reluctant convert who likes them and can see a use for them now. Give it a go people.

I don't think that I have ever seen a traditional one piece with a thong back on the beach. When the body suit was big, most women wore them with thong bottoms.

I have, however, seen women with slingshot thongs on a regular basis on South Beach and have started wearing them myself. They do help to solve the hip tan line problem with normal thongs or g-strings and look awesome!

I love one piece thongs.  I have a couple tank style suits that I use for hot tubbing at my apt. complex hot tub. I also have 3 slingshot style suits....not the most practical, but definitely hot!!!  I usually wear them when in vegas or somewhere similar and am just looking for shock value and attention.

1.  A female friend of my tather's was into thongs way back in the early 90's, like my dad was.  She had some pretty extreme surgery about 5 years ago, and now because of scars does not want to expose her stomach area, so a 1-piece thong is perfect.

2.  A friend of mine from high-school who recently had an emergency c-section birth was told by the doctor she would have to switch from thong bikinis to a thong one-piece swimsuit because of the scars (her thong tanline was obvious at the birth).

3.  Linda Dawber (?) the Mindy from the Mork and Mindy show stayed at a resort in Canada we stayed at and wore a 1-piece thong swimsuit.  This was the first one I actually saw, and she was allowed to wear it because (she is a celebrity and) she was not wearing a "thong or g-string style bikini" the rules specifically prohibited.

4.  I bought one -- a white one -- and occationally wear it in public, mostly for Randy.  He thinks it is very sexy, but it also is accepted some places that I don't think thong bikinis would be accepted.  I have worn it once when we went to an old city-centre health club as visitors and the club had a (stupid) rule that all women must wear one-piece swimsuits as swim caps.  Sorry folks -- it is one-piece swimsuit I pointed out.  Randy had to wear swim trunks at this place, but even though he has hair down to his waist, he didn't need a cap because the rules were established before the days of men with long hair..

It's surprising - but good to hear - that someone as recognisable as "Mindy" should wear one in a public setting. Many celebrities would try to blend in as much as possible.

How long ago was this by the way?

Re:Do women actually like or even really wear one piece thong swimsuits?

We saw "Mindy" quite a while back -- close to 10 years now.  It had probably been at least 15 years since she was on TV at the time, but she looked pretty much the same, and was a lot more fit than the  TV show would have led us to believe -- maybe she started working out?  Anyway, we knew it was her because the hotel was a buzz with talk about her coming and staying.  Her one-piece tricked the rules (although I thing they would have been bent for her anyway) which had recently been put in place by the management to prohibit thongs.  This ticked Randy and me off  -- we had been ask not to wear thongs and here she comes in and gets away with it.

The rule change came about when two men the day before had visited wearing thongs with what Randy calls tool exposure.  This was totally in-appropriate for a family resort that is not promoted as clothing optional.  We saw these men and the reactions their swimwear was causing and really can't blame the management for creating a rule, but the total ban on thong and g-string bikinis on men and women was overkill.  There had always been a tollerance towards thongers before these men came along and forced the issue.  We have been back and thonged again, but you need to either be sneaky and slip in when nobody is paying attention or ask up front if your swimwear is acceptable, and even then, the acceptability is totally up to the person at the towel desk and management reserves the right to make you cover up or leave if there are any complaints.

I saw a girl wearing one at the indoor swimming pool at East Finchley London a few years back. She looked really great and you could see the tan line of her thong bikini clearly. I could not believe I would see such an extreme swimsuit at an indoor pool in England. She swam some lengths, got out walked around, swam a few more and out again. the funny thing was she barely got a glance. Short of one guy I was the only one that noticed her.

I stopped at one of the Delaware State Park beaches and met a girl with a fantastic one piece thong that I will try and describe as best I can.  She was about 20 and had on a one piece thong back swimsuit. I would call it a 4th of July swimsuit. It was red, white and blue and covered with stars. Besides being a thong, it was low cut in the front right down to the waist and the bottom front was extremely skimpy!

It was a thong bottom with the right front side blue with white stars and the left front side red with white stars. The rear (what there was of it) was the reverse color. The top was a small piece of the same material, Blue with white stripes going up over the right breast around the neck and red with white stars coming down the left side just covering the left breast and attached to the waist band of the thong bottom.  I just posted some images to Flickr.

My wife used to have some thong leotards that she wore to work out in.  She also had some thong bodysuits that she wore with slacks.  Other than that...she (nor I) would have any interest in a suit like that.  Colleen Kelly makes some one piece suits, but they are really just pieces of thread holding together a teardrop G and pasties...so that really dosent count

I still have a couple of thong leotards that I used to wear to dance classes when I was a teenager. I always wore them over the top of bike pants or some other spandex shorts. My teacher would have freaked out if any of us wore one on its own!

I've never really been interested in one piece thong swimsuits although I do think they are sexy, ie: Katherine Heigl from My Father the Hero, so hot! I do still want a slingshot style one-piece thong though. Any suggestions?

My partner wore a great black one from www.brigite.com at a recent visit to hotel pool in Birmingham UK. Needless to say got loads of admiring looks.

Same here as far as using these in the past for a gym class. My husband thinks they're sexy for the beach too but he's just given up on that idea since micros are so much more sexy. I'd keep one handy if I had one which is why he might gift that one day, I think they are sexy in an 80s way.

It's so true that with a one piece thong your main goal is not to tan. It might be good for a cool day at the beach perhaps. A friend of mine brought up the another reason why a one piece thong would be given consideration, you might want to show off that bubble butt however your tummy might not be in the best condition to show off.

I had one from Ritchie. It was black with full coverage in the front, but the back was just a yellow g-string, not even a thong. I bought it from a bargain bin  when I was 17, but I didn't get up the nerve to wear it until three years later when I wore it to a pool-side brunch.

I LOVE womens' one-piece thongs! I agree, they're not too common at beaches & pools. However, back in the 80's & 90's, I used to see more girls wearing the one-piece thong leotards over a pair of bike shorts at the gym (damn, I miss that look!).

What I really love about the one-piece thong is that they're cut very high on the hips & are narrow in front - the way that womens' swimsuits were back in the 80's. I still think that it's a great look & hope it comes back in style sometime soon.

Now it's true that the one-piece thong isn't great for tanning - but wasn't there a company that made swimsuits out of a tan-through fabric? Damn, I would've thought that this kind of thing would have caught on like wildfire, especially with the textile crowd. But maybe people really do like having large parts of their bodies pasty white, while their arms & legs are nicely tanned. But this tan-through fabric thing is exactly what companies should be using to make their swimsuits from, especially the one-piece thongs!

My GF has one of the one-piece thongs from Brigite & it looks great! My only regret is that it's not beach weather yet, I can't wait to get out there & wear thongs again.

Piper77 - you mentioned having a Ritchie suit. I used to love their stuff back in the 80's & 90's & they even made great bikinis & thongs for guys too! I used to have one of their mens' Rio-cut suits. What happened to them? They seem to have gone the conservative route & don't even offer guys stuff anymore.

I actually still wear them for swimming and working out (although less so for working out). I feel more comfortable in one pieces because they are similar to my workout and lap swimming outfits. I especially like the style with an action back and since they are impossible to find in the stores, I now get them custom made.

I have never been hassled at the pool or at the gym for wearing them and regularly get compliments from clients (I'm a physical trainer and specialise in rehab) and other gym users both female and male. There was a move in the late 1990s where trainers were not allowed to wear thong workout clothing (one piece and separates) but luckily the places where I have worked have been relatively relaxed about clothing and I have never received a complaint (although lots of questions).

I realise that this thread is aimed at women wearing thong swimsuits.

I just want to say that I have a variaty of thong swimsuits (and bodies) and have been wearing them for approx 10 years now.  They are extremely difficult to find so when I come across one, I buy it.  I've found that eBay is a possible source for such thong swimsuits as women are clearing them out of the closet.

I've not worn a thong swimsuit on a beach. However, I do wear them around the house and for sun bathing in the garden.  My wife found it all a bit strange to start with but now she managed to live with my (so caled) strange little cothing habits.

I still have the white one-piece thong I wrote about earlier on this thread. I take it with me if there is any doubt about swimsuit needs, especially if I am traveling alone.  My suit is solid white, with a high-cut front and back.  It is simple but both elegent and sexy.  I have worn it again and again in hotel and motel pools and never had anyone in management complain.  I think it is the fact it is high class looking and looks like something a high-class woman might wear that lets me get away with it.  I'm sure these hotels and motels would be shocked to learn that I am far from high class myself.  The funny thing is that a smart women can pull off a high class look even in the cloths normally associated with trailer trash women.

Maybe I should move to a trailer park...

I LOVE one piece body suits and swimwear.

I just love seeing a gal wearing jeans and a one piece body suit thong.  Like when her jeans are a little low on the hips and you can see the tops edges of her thong sticking out.  To me, that looks great.

I agree with Traci, as I usually do, that they are a more classy look.  I think you could wear them to any hotel pool with hardly anyone raising an eyebrow.  They look sexy and conservative at the same time.

Personally, I love the look!

Yes I like them and yes I wear them.

A past boy friend started my collection about 8 years ago with a Skinz one-piece, the one with 3 metal clasps down the front, so well made I still have it. My collection has grown ever since, I must now have 25 one-piece/slingshots, by makers including Wickedtemptations, Skinz, Dubio, Nixxxe, Colleen Kelly and Tangaland24. I also have 4 by Speedo and Arena for lap swimming. My slings/one-piece's far out number my bikinis.
I wear them to be a little different, everyone has seen girls in thongs on the beach or by the pool but not so much the more daring one-piece styles, my favourite is to wear one under a slightly shorter top so as the strings show, you get a lot of looks as passers by try to work out your underwear style.

great to hear slingshot_girl, admittedly ive never seen a girl wearing a slingshot anywhere ive been to in the world. i must ask, where in the UK do you wear this? or just on holiday? i find the british to be very conservative bikini wise, and most would never wear a thong, but i guess some do on holiday. nice to hear you found this site via your bosses computer. that is hilarious :D i'd love to try a slingshot specifically made for me, but they mostly look horrible, and not really beach worthy. im thinking of getting one custom made for winter (aussie winters arent too cold) with long sleeves as an undergarment, now that would be nice :)

Conservative is not I ....... I wear them mainly on holiday, and have done so in Key West, Dom Rep, Cuba and the Maldives. I used to have access to our apartments roof, and as it was so private have worn them up there with my flat mate, sadly that is no more so I'm going to have to venture out into the parks of London or the South Coast beaches this year, no holiday planned for this year :-(:-( ..........
Stringster.... Your idea sounds......"different" to say the least. Borat ruined the male slingshot for me, they have become a standing joke over here now, which is a shame, on the right physic they can look good, thank goodness he didn't do what he did in just a thong..........

i despise the borat mankini! it looks horrible, and i also laugh at anyone that wears one. i cringe a little just thinking about it. honestly i think anything fluro is a bit 'too much' regardless of what kind of attire it is, and starts to venture into humour territory. i know my idea is a little different, but the US site pumpers.com makes custom bodysuits for men as well (dancewear company), and they have a ton of fabrics to choose from. i think a long sleeved, full back and front, regular v-neck thong bodysuit made of warm cotton lyrca would be great to wear on its own, or as an undergarment with jeans. i might order another one with supplex for jogging or cycling ;) and another a tight PVC one for those wanting to feel good moments ;)
good luck with going to the parks of london, im not sure it's that thong friendly, although i read somewhere that hyde park might be possible in a quiet area. munich's englischer garten is one of the best places, as you certainly won't be alone! ive heard your south beaches aren't very thong friendly, and not exactly the best beach destination but its all you've got so might as well :/
will invite you as a friend as i'd love to hear your experiences this summer.

I've bought my GF a good few slingshots, she has a nice collection now!!! I LOVE the style on a lass, there is nothing sexier. She has worn them on the beaches of Coz and Turkey and got some very admiring looks. No problem though.
I've only ever seen them a couple of times in public when not on my GF, once in Egypt and once in Tenerife, and both times they looked superb!!!
Borat ruined the style, that said I do have a variation of one posted in my profile, it's not the same and I quite like it, it will certainly elliminate tan lines!!! Not sure where I'll wear it though!!!
Your a brave lass to consider the parks of London in them slingshot_girl, (south coast, maybe!!) I don't think my GF would, thong bikini yes (she has done many times) slingshot!!!!! Good luck!!! Keep us posted.
Tell you what, I'll wear mine if you wear yours!!! HEHE,  You know where I'll be!!

I think the Slingshot style is sexy and looks great on women. Unfortunately I haven't seen one on the beach for several years. I agree the Borat look was bad for slingshot beachwear. Having the right physique is important for both men and women for this style and that may be why it didn't look good on him.

I have several slingshot style suits that I personally find more confortable than around the waist thongs. I had a Skinz Sparton made with 48" straps that I wear over the shoulder. One has to be a little more daring to wear these, but being daring is part of what thonging is all about.

Hey Slingshot, enough respect if you wear a slingshot on an english beach. Highly recomend Studlands, Dorset. I've tried alot of beaches in England and this is by the far the most comfortable for thong wearing.

We went to Richmond Park at the weekend and found a lovely quiet spot,  I'm going to try Banes Common this weekend if the weather is good enough, between those two that will probably be my summer, work and college commitments stop me from going on holiday or further afield this year sadly :-(

While in Barnes, check out the old Morris Minors running around, there's a shop that specializes.  Neat old car, the British VW, almost bought one here in the States, but too much in the same vein as my 1929 Model A Ford Sport Coupe, which I bought when I was 15 with paper route money, and is now in showroom condition.  By the pond in Barnes Common, with all the ducks?  That's pretty bold.  Have to get back there and check it out.

Slingshot,

Stick to calling me CMD, most do. I kept meaning to change from this to a proper name, but have had this so long I now like it. Yeah, Dorset is a bit of a haul from London, and bad luck having so many commitments.

Other than in the movies or on tv, I have never seen a women in a 1-piece thong. I know they were hugely popular back in the 80's with all the girls wearing the slingshot style in the bikini contests.  The closest i have come is a one piece thong bodysuit my wife used to own.  Nothing really special in my opinion.  Personally...I like the bikinis.

 Slingshot Girl,

Train from Waterloo to Bournemouth takes 1.5 hours where you can get an open top bus every 1/2 hr for £2.80 return direct to/from Studland... about 30 minutes. No excuse!!!

Excellent!  May try that myself during our week in London.  Wife goes shopping; I go sunning.

my girl has a couple of one piece skinz thongs & wears them out on our boat.
she likes them as they cover her tummy scars which she is very self concoius about.
