I just finished setting up a free-weight gym in my basement and have been working out in a Skinz skinny-side thong. What a difference it makes in my routine. Even though I've always worn thongs under my tights at my regular gym, the sense of freedom and movement is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Not only am I more strict in performing reps, but I'm able to see how my body really responds to each exercise. Does anyone else work out at home in a thong? I can't imagine there are gyms that would permit thongs to be worn as one's only gym gear, but perhaps I'm wrong.

I have a key to the locak gym thats owned by a good friend of mine and me and thr girls either do a thong workout, or a nude workout quite often after hours of course.

I just got back from the gym wearing only a thong and lycra shirt.  Although this is a coed gym, no one really cared.

I workout at a local gay gym in a g-string or naked usually every morning.  Usually just wear my gym shoes, my watch and a c-ring.   I get the best results naked or almost naked.

i work out in lycra cycle stlye shorts with a thong underneath, mostly with a t-shirt on aswell.

i have worked out at home in just a thong before though. i wouldnt be able to work out with others around in just a thong or the nude, id like to, but would never go through with it. tried working out with a thong on with a built in c-ring under my lycra shorts. very comfortalble at first but then the 2 materials rubbing together kinda put a strange sitution in place ad would never be able to do it again, glad no-one could see. embarrasing

I have a power rack and full weight set in the basement and often work out in just a thong if I know the kids are not going to come down.  (They know I wear them but I don't need any extra questions.)  I usually work out when they are sleeping so I enjoy the freedom and watching myself in the mirrors in a thong.  Once in awhile I will lift nude depending on what program I am on and everyone else is gone.

My normal workout gear is a pair of onionskin "short" running shorts with the liner cut out so it is very comfortable.  It is short enough my cheeks peak out when bending over.   I also wear this style for my normal hang around the yard or house in the summer shorts without a thong.  It is as reveling as my wife will tolerate.

Like SlidingG, thong-only at my gym is also not an option. I am wondering though, abczyxabczyx, you said you worked out in just a shirt and thong. How is it that you were able do that without anything being said? I can see getting with that at a gay gym or in the privacy of a friend's gym after hours as others have done, but during regular hours of a co-ed gym? Hmmm ... I'm really curious. Are there really places as such?

BTW, I usually wear a Y-back thong under my workout shorts and you should see some of the funny looks I get from the other men in the locker room while I am changing. Most of the time, I am not really noticed because from the front, it almost appears that I am wearing a jock strap which some of the older guys still wear and I don't intentionally try to be noticed.

I do, however, wear a dark colored lycra tights over my thong for Yoga class because it gets very cold in the activity room. One evening just recently, there was one lady who was slowly inching her mat closer to mine and during one of the stretching exercise, she actually "accidently" rubbed across my rear. I guess she wanted to comfirm the outline that she saw. She never said anything, but she did smile at me a couple times and I later noticed that she too was wearing a thong under her tights. Only one other time I can recall another lady that was watching me fairly closely as we were doing our stretching, but her looks appeared to be more of a disapproving one. She never said anything either, but I seem to remember that she was wearing bikini panties under her spandex tights.

I can't claim to exclusive workout in thongs but, given I also workout in the privacy of my own home, thongs are definitely my preferred choice. Optimum support and freedom combined. I love it! If anyone else is around or it's particularly cold I may choose to wear a low-rise speedo or low-rise swim jammers instead but most of the time, yes, I workout at home in a thong.

My gym is trying to compete with Bally's Total Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness by attracting their clients.  They offer working out in minimal outfits.  In fact, many major channels such as ABC, CBS, NBC, etc. have done documentaries where the gym does a strip aerobics (sown to the thong) class.

While at the gym I don't have the option to work out in only a thong, however, at home it do.  I'll frequently run on my treadmill wearing a thong and my running shoes.  I love it because I have complete freedom of motion.  After I'm done with the run I'll usually do some push-ups and sit-ups, but that's about it.  I do all my weight lifting at the gym.

I've been wearing thongs when working out for a long time. At the gym I wear a thong underneath some cycle shorts but at home it's just a thong. I converted a spare room in my house to a gym with a bench and some free weights. My next door neighbour can look into this room from their house both her and her husband have seen me training in a thong but don't bat an eyelid. I must admit that training in only a thong really does work wonders. You seem to focus more on the reps and work harder.

I thought I was the only one !!! Ha.

I too have a full gym in the basement, and I tend to work out at 530am, when all the family is asleep. Since when I awake, I usually have a thong on, I grab a pair of shorts and my sneaks and head down stairs.

The shorts get thrown over a chair and usually stay there. (Unless I hear the kids wondering around). I find it very sexy and more interesting to see my body react in the mirrors as I run, pedal or bench.

Thanks, now I feel NoRmAl AgAiN !!!!

When the weather gets warm enough, I lift weights in a thong or nude in my garage or backyard.  The less clothes I wear inspires me to lift more and work out harder.  I love the sense of accomplishment watching my muscles develop. Every workout  I write down in my logbook.  With my bodyweight and listing my bicep measurement at the start of the workout , and after each arm exercise to measure how my biceps responds to each exercise.   If I have the time I also like to check my progress by taking digital shots or video taping my work out.  You can see the results in my profile and more pictures in the Yahoo group exercisenaked in the photo section "Garden workout".  I've lost 20 lbs. with 20 more lbs. to go.

With my kids out of the nest, my wife and I are never in a hurry to dress.  We've set up our treadmill in front of our large windows viewing the river, and that's pretty private and public at the same time, because there's a public walk going by my deck, between my house and the riverbank.  Very close!  Since that walk is used every day by neighbors, I have to be careful about jogging nude.  I often do it in a thong, and I don't worry if people look in my window.  I'm walking on the treadmill every day just about 12" from the glass.

Yes, I feel a lot of excitement, a lot of energy when working out in a thong or g-string in that window, and so I usually get a good workout!  My wife likes to watch, too.  So far, no neighbor complaints.  I can't decide which is better for this, a tight-package g-string or one that lets my equipment bounce around when I walk.  Both work great!  My wife is not an exhibitionist, but get this:  She admits that she is an exhibitionist through me.  She enjoys watching me show my body and loves to see people watching.  Lots of fun for both of us!

The gym that I go to is wear what ever you want. Both men and women wear every thing from t-shirt and pants to nude. The nude men used to out number the gals 3:1. Now it's women to men at a ratio of 3:2 >The more fit the members are the more skin thew show. The showers are also co-ed.

I just finished my weekend workout and while I was on the treadmill I realised that I could hardly imagine working out in anything other than a thong. Now, very occasionally I do wear a very low slung speedo rather than a thong or - VERY rarely - I'll slip some short running shorts on over my thong, but a very low cut thong with 1/4" sides is always my preference. A thong makes sense (a) because it's shape is perfectly suited to the human form, (b) it provides the support necessary when working out, (c) it keeps you cool when you don't have the privilege of air conditioning and you're working up a sweat, (d) it's non-restricting, giving complete freedom of movement, (e) it allows you to see your progress and see how your muscles are responding to the exercise, and (f) it reduces the amount of washing you need to do afterwards! I guess a thong-friendly gym makes sense given these reasons but I doubt it would be a very good business proposition.

Every year more and more people are getting into yoga. I've seen people rushing, stressed out trying to get to their yoga class or stressed out during their class 'cause they're crowded in or the place isn't a quiet, tranquil place.
Yoga masters always teach that yoga is a meditation. It should be done in silence, not in a loud gym with a trainer's voice piped in through a P.A. system. It should be done early in the day. Out in the elements or with the windows, doors wide open. Ideally in the sunshine next to a body of water.
As such I like to practice yoga and have been doing so for years, even before it became popular. Obviously I like to practice it as it has been done for years, whenever possible in the nude, poolside. Most of the time however I practice yoga in a g-string or minimal thong.
The only time I was not able to focus was the couple of times a girlfriend (friend that is) of mine wanted to get started with yoga. I gave her a couple of books and described the beginning stages of yoga, various positions and even after I warned her about the ideal attire for yoga she did not show any hesitation to join me a couple of mornings. I thought I could handle it. She showed up and slipped into a rio bikini. Her only difficulty she told me was with her top holding her in which kept distracting her. The next time she donned a g-string and no top. This was very nice but highly distracting to me and although she claimed no other motive other than yoga I still had my doubts. As a married man I have no other alternative but to look (or not look). She continues to practice yoga, in her own house; we continue to see each other, but not for yoga. Yoga should be about relaxing and focusing. With her, what I was focusing on was not yoga!

I very much agree with the above comments about Yoga. It should be done nude preferably and I'm somewhat surprised that in UK there does not seem to be anywhere that it is done nude. I recently posted on a naturist newsgroup about me being willing to set up a local nude yoga session on a weekly basis with a nude yoga tutor but was met by a deafening lack of response. Perhaps sometime in the future?

I always workout in a thong but only in my home gym. I did try it a few times at a "clothing optional gym" which, although I'm not homophobic, turned out to be a gay happy hunting ground! I quite liked the attention but convincing the clientele that I was a happily married man was getting difficult! There's only one exercise that I find slightly uncomfortable and that's the inclined sit-ups but that's because I like my thongs tight. Wearing thongs and minimal swimwear is a great incentive to keep trim so if I'm going to wear them on a public beach I like to look good.

Most gyms I've been to(mainly in Australia)seem to have some kind of a dress code and the minimum being shorts and a tank top. However most hardcore competition bodybuilders like to strut their stuff (why not) and part way through their workout tend to loose the top then the shorts and end up in only their posing trunks which worries the management a little. The gym I frequented decided to introduce sessions when it was allowed i.e. "clothing optional" but not nude. Of course us thongers pushed it to the limit and mine was a black low-cut thong.

I've not been to any gym where stripping down to my thong would be an option, but I never work out in boxers if I can at all avoid it. When exercising at home, it's inevitably a thong or g-string - no sweaty clothing to get trapped in.

I will occasionally work out in our bedroom in just a thong and sneakers. It does give a sense of freedom w/ support. My wife once walked in on me while I was on the elliptical trainer in just a thong and had that silly smurk on her face. She thought it was strange but has kind of gotten used to it.

When working out at home with weights I never wear more than a snug fitting swim G string,  usally a Kiniki Troy one size down I find this the most comfy and gives pleanty of support, more than a Jock and without the wide elastic , when visiting my local athority run Gym I wear unlined brief running shorts with a Thong underneath, I have noticed a trend lately for other people to wear track suite bottoms or those long shorts.
On one or two occasions when its been empty I have worn my Kiniki Brazil swim brief and a T shirt.

At Club Orient on St Martin there is a small fitness center with a treadmill, elliptical machine, free weights and combination (home gym) machine - all very good quality.  Being a clothing optional resort the dress code or lack therof extends to the fitness center as well.  The few people who do workout there wear whatever is comfortable for them: shorts, t-shirts and sneakers; bikini bottoms/thongs and sneakers or simply naked.  The feeling of freedom working out nude or in a thong with others doing the same is something to be experienced.

Also the resort is networked by packed beach sand roads perfect for jogging, again in whatever one feels comfortable wearing.

Re:Does anyone work out just wearing a thong?

(Sorry if this post it too long but I’ve expounded the detail.)

At the gym (in the UK) no. It's in their "etiquette guide" that a shirt has to be worn.

I had some aggravation last year with one instructor who unofficially complained to me about "my knob being too obvious" under my Nike cycle shorts in spite of me wearing them for 4 years and then with a jockstrap or thong underneath for support. I took the matter to the management who totally backed me up as being within reason. I lost the instructor as a friend over this sadly but I put it down to her being a man-hater and nothing personal.

In note of her objections, I now wear Orca Trishorts instead which are shorter (twice as) and more form hugging but cover my loins with a little less anatomical detail when I’m thonged. They have a white stripe on the sides and you can see my panty line if you really wanted. Some nights I a wear a jockstrap and the lines are quite obvious. But by precedent most people have some VPL and it’s part of the course of serious training.

I’ve had a few specialist “hard-core” “HITS” or High Intensity Training sessions where the classes are smaller and we are highly focused and where the instructor has given a dispensation for shirts off. This is very rare and outside of the norm though and not for the average. These are not just bring a towel sessions, more like bring a mop.

In the swimming pool, I do laps and I’ve been wearing Muscleskins 1 inch classic with lean seat. These are very flattering on me. More importantly, they pass the “stand on the pool side and have a chat with the lads” test. Once people know you are a fit serious swimmer, people accept it and there does not seem to be stigma. A few ladies (and I suppose gentlemen) check out my package! The 1 inch Muscleskins pass the normality test, just.

I have not yet thonged in the pool although I would like to. The only time I see this as possible will be the Monday 2100 late night adult swim. Eventually this may happen but it is risky and the gain may not meet the cost. If it does happen, it will be a case of walking straight in, jumping in, and heading for the central swim lane without delay leaving little opportunity for the teenage lifeguards to freak out.

One instructor has chatted with me about the two of us swimming in thongs one night. I’m game especially with the company. She says she wants me to wear some sparkly thong! Ummm, it sounds fun!

Cycling is now a different matter. On the public road, one can lawfully wear a thong and one is not under “club” or any British sports body rules. I’ve done 3 World Naked Bike Rides and this week did 15KM at night around my town in a thong, utility belt and helmet. At the speed I travelled of +24KM/H average, contact with other people is not really a problem.   I am now tempted to say that on any occasion where the temperature is plus 22C, I’d be happy to cycle in a thong now.

I’m also quite openly cycling around my local roads in a Speedo in warm weather.

At home I do my DIY, gardening, bike servicing and top up weights session in my thong or jockstrap.

Running: For plus 16C, I usually run with my shirt off for my personal training. With the club, it’s convention to wear a shirt. Like with swimming, it’s probably not worth trying to go against the group convention unless there was a massive performance advantage for doing so. Still I came 7th out of a group of more than 50 this week which earns one some respect. ;-)

A statement of the obvious: There is no point in bringing this up with "normals". Average types are not in to this kind of exhibitionism or body celebration. The lads around me in my club wear knee length shorts in the water, actually longer than they wear in the same running club. Until they themselves turn up in Speedos or something more modest, or you see them running outside shirtless, you can assume that "our kind" of mentality is way different from theirs. They would not understand. You won't push them this way. They have to make the move because they want to. And we have to understand and respect that difference of thinking. If they ask about my clothing choice, I'd be glad to talk about it!

With all the above, the thing is to focus on the training and self-performance. If you are concentrating on the pace and reaching the target, pushing one’s body beyond the comfort zone, orange or red-lining one’s heart rate, super-loading the lung capacity, catching then beating the person in front, accelerating hard and maintaining that velocity, and drenched with sweat, it’s irrelevant what wider society think.   If you work to be fit, and fitness is not found on a sofa or given to one in a chocolate box, and you are paying the price of fitness, then you’ve earned the privilege of wearing a thong in your own relative space.

Most people are not fit. Most people resent their bodies.

Fitness thongers celebrate our bodies, our human freedom, and the potential that everyone has.

The future: I’d like to do some thong cycling, running, H.I.T., and weights. Please contact me if you are like minded.

I’ve been thinking all this week of doing a 10KM in either a Speedo, Muscleskins, or Thong. So long as I have minimal contact with other people, I'd be comfortable.

When I'm home I almost always do yoga in a thong, sometimes totally nude. With all the twisting and posing involved in yoga, I usually take off my shirt and soon found that also removing my shorts made it much easier to practice. Clothes just get in the way.

As for more strenuous exercises, I've found that a thong alone does not work for me, but I always wear one under my shorts when running or lifting weights. But yoga? Yeah, always thong or nude, depending on who is home/awake.

Usually nude, sometimes in a thong, for my home-based 25-minute abs/lower back routine every other day.  If at my health club, then in a bikini by the edge of the pool.

For running, both around the neighborhood and at the club, if in loose shorts, it's a thong under the short ones, commando under the longer ones.

At the gym however its under my workout clothes and would be extremely awkward to have a trainer stripped down to a thong.  That and its not allowed.

I wouldn't like to train just wearing a thong.I need support when exercising, and also for hygienic reasons, I sweat more than a lot and would leave all the equipment wet.
Besides I doubt there is a gym where people are allowed to train just wearing a thong, not a serious gym at least.
Compression pants and tops work for me;  they are warm in winter and become very cool in hot weather.  Once I sweat and the spandex material becomes wet, it automatically cools down the body.   And also it evaporates very quickly, much faster than conventional cotton that becomes wet and soggy.

Working out at home is more satisfying than a gym. At a gym I have to vary my routine if others are using the equipment.  I can't stay on the equipment for too long. At the gym I can't wear the clothing I want. At home I can choose what to wear or not to wear.  Working out in a thong or nude is a real charge. I use my various thongs to get me more inspired. I mounted mirrors on my garage walls. I can seee how each thong looks on my body while I go through my various exercises. I can change thongs between sets. I have 300 lbs. of weights with three different bars and dumbells. Working out at home allows me to be more inventive and I have achieved better results.

I wear much skimpier outfits working out at home than when in the gym (example....gym= string tank and board shorts.  Home= shirtless and spandex muscle shorts or just a wrestling singlet.)   When i work out, however, I am pretty serious about it, and would never wear just a thong.  It would not be supportive enough for the lifting that I do.  I do however (both at the gym and at home, wear thong underwear under whatever pants i am wearing).   FYI....my home gym is pretty bad ass.  I have 1100 lbs of olympic plates and all of my equipment is commercial grade (cybex).   I cant see pushing 600 lbs on my leg press maching wearing just a thong!!!!

I do... love the feel and look of it. When I am doing a serious set i dont even notice a difference...
Have worked out at a  gay gym in thongs and loved every minute of it...

Would love to work out in a coed environment in just a thong!

Has anyone done yoga or tai chi in a thong at a public park?  Trying to decide if I want to go for this or not.
