To ski696969;

You know, those signs posted about the dunes replenishing are absolutely correct and not some plot to keep you from comfortably tanning yourself.  Sand dunes on beaches are "living" things that provide significant protection against erosion and serious storms.  They're mother nature's way of providing a first line of defense against the sea.  The sea grass on the dunes stabilizes them against wind and sea erosion and allows them to "grow".

You'll notice that even in places like Fort Lauderdale, where the beach is rather narrow in certain spots, that signifcant efforts are being made to allow the dunes to grow back in.  This is also being done in Miami down South Beach way.

I understand the dunes are a way of keeping the shore line intact and the north beach has many new dunes forming infront of the old dunes.  Mother nature has a way of taking care of her self.  And the Fort Beaches are always full of sand and every year the shape of the beach changes.  The history of the Fort and us fellow thongers and nudist use the North beach for sunning enjoyment.  Attempts over the years have been made to get the North Beach semi nude.  County officials refuse and the beach signs is another way to keep us from enjoying a very small section of beach.  If they want to protect the dunes and shoreline so much, they should refuse building permits for all those condo projescts.  I'm sorry, but my little a__  laying on the dunes is not going to anywhere near the damage one condo building will do.  I agree with protecting the shoreline but lets be fair.

Tiny,

I try to make it out to the Fort at least 2-3 times a week, it depends on my work.  I am self employed and travel around the bay area, I never know when I can get to the Fort.  We should try to plan a time to meet up.  I just made a recent visit to Skinz and picked up  a few new suits and want to show them off.  I was out to the Fort the other day and there were a few other thongers and G's enjoying the sun.  Gotta Love the Fort!

What a beautiful day at the Fort!  The weather was perfect and the water temp was awesome.  I arrived around 1 pm, got a late start.  I spent about 3 1/2 hours tanning, saw about 6 other thonger and gstingers, all guys.  There were a few people every once in awhile walking the beach.  I spent most of the time laying on the waters edge sunning my buns.  At one point this well fit good looking lady came walking down the beach at she enjoyed seeing my string.  As she walked by she said hello and made a nice comment on my dark tan.  I get pretty dark!  She walked down the beach and then turned to come back, this time she walk much slower and began to look for shells in the water.  As I laid there with my cheeks on the high side she was checking me out.  I'll be back the middle of next week for some more sun!

I've been going to the Fort alot lately, lets hookup!  I just got some new suits from Skinz, I really like the Y-Back G-String, it fits well and allows for some great tan lines.  I think I was at the Fort 3 days last week and will probably be there several more times this week.  It would be fun to G-string together.  Let me know when you will be out there.  I've been going to the west beach, parking on the grass half way up from the NW beach lot, the beach is much nicer.

June 20th week sounds good!  Let me know what day you plan to be out there, I go to the West beach and then North past the roped off bird nesting area and before the fallen trees.  You say you were small g-strings, I strut around in a Y-Back G-String from Skinz and I'm out there several times a week.

Actually I will arrive in Tampa on Friday, 6/18, late in the evening.  Plan to find a motel close to Ft. Desoto and be on the beach Saturday, 6/19, by mid-morning.  I haven't been there in along time so I hope the "West" and "North" beachs are marked.  I can probably find it!  I'll probably be wearing one of Dore's very low cut g-strings (in blue).  I'm blond, 5'-10", 170 lbs.  Look forward to having someone to talk to.  Cody

I'll be over in Tampa in July.  Two questions:  Where is the Skinz store in Clearwater?  Where exactly is West Beach?  I used to live in St Pete so know Ft Desoto fairly well.  I'm assuming you turn right at the end of the park entrance road. But I'm not sure were you're parking.  Is it the grassy area along side the road with out any paved parking?  I've seen cars there before, but looks pretty far from the road to the beach.

Hope we're able to meet up at the beach some day.  Maybe I'll even be in a new Skinz Y-back.

I don't think I will be at Ft D. on that date, but as you approach north beach you will see cars parked on the left in what as been refered to as the grassy area. Go to the most northern end of that area, park, walk, enjoy!

Thanks.  That's the area I was thinking... Just since there isn't a parking lot, wasn't sure you could park on the grass.    So does anyone use the extreme north section anymore?

You can't use the north beach for much except to walk along the shoreline.  Most of the area is posted for beach rebuilding.  The area were everyone usually goes is flat but very wide open and nice to lay out at.  Enjoy walks on the shore and swimming.

Hi I am new to this forum. Don't get a chance to thong much. I don't like tan lines, and would love to thong on Fort Desoto soon. As a long time resident of Pinellas county I can't thong much without stares, jeers or some stupid homophobic remarks. I am a white heterosexual male, single and am not offended by public nudity. I am hoping to catch a ride with someone, as I don't drive.

Looking for some fun in the sun, and do some shelling, and walking on the beautiful beaches.

Only serious replies please.  Joseph

I just spent another day this week at the Fort in my Y back skinz g-string.  I love to lay out work on my tan and walk the beach.  I usually get to the beach after 12 and like the spend at least 4 or 5 hours there. I usually keep to myself at the beach and just say hello to passers by but wouldn't mind tanning with other sometime.

heya skiguy...looks like I may be in the Ft. DeSoto area for the 4th also. Will be good to see fellow thongers out and about and hopefully see some female talent also. I hate to ask for repeat directions...... but in past years I have always thonged on the North End (wading across the lagoon). I realize that I have missed out as I see the postings for the West beach. Do I park in the grassy parking area just off the main road toward North Beach and then just walk toward the beach to find the best spot? where do you park? I appreciate any info. I have not been to Florida in a couple of years and am really looking forward to it. thanks. reply here or to max77056@yahoo.com (ps. I may be on Pensacola Beach for the 4th but will head to the St. Pete area that night or the next day for at least a couple of days at the Fort....)

Max -

Go to the west grassy area north until no more cars park on the grassy, take the small walk to the beach and then turn right (north) most thongers and g-r's use that part of the beach but really anywhere you like works, the Fort is the #1 rated beach in the nation and for good reason.  SHHHH - Don't tell anyone!  I hope everyone has a great 4th of July, I plan to spend the entire weekend in my new M1R1 from Skinz, due for pickup sometime this week.  They said 3 weeks to make it.

I'm cutting and pasting directions from another post:

<<Regarding directions, as you enter the park on Route 679, you'll
be heading south. When the road tees, turn right so that you head
west. Eventually, after about a mile, this road will curve to
the right, north, with the old fort and concession stand on
your left. As you progress on this road, you will see the
bike path on your left, just beyond a drainage ditch.
When you see a clump a bushes between you and the bike path,
that is the place to park. And if you see a North Beach
concrete marker, you've gone too far.

From where you've parked, head in on the single file
path until you hit the tire tracks of a jeep trail.
Turn right, northwest, and follow this to the beach;
at the beach you'll be heading north. You will see thongers
from this point on north until the beach ends in a spit
of land. At the very tip many go nude.>>

Am I in the right spot for the West Beach?

Bill, It sounds like you have nailed it exactly........I can't say that for sure but I have been to Fort DeSoto many times. I'll be there over the 4th for a few days. What I will say is if in doubt, park and take a quick jog in the area to check out the scene. I have always gone to the north end but will be sure to check out West beach over my 4th visit. Even if the Fort is crowded over the 4th with families and kids. I'm sure I'll find a spot to "chill in".

What a day on saturday at the Fort, I got there around 11 and there were 5 or so other thongers and G-rs then some rain clouds came in off the Gulf and all but two of us left.  The rain lasted maybe 10 minutes and then the sun was out and then again another rain cloud came 10 more mins or rain and hot sun the rest of the day.  The other thongers were a young guy and sweet looking gale they both sported g-strings like myself.  I gotta tell ya the sun on Saturday was hot but the seabreeze kept it comfortable.  A few other thongers came out and as the tide went low the tourist from the north beach would stroll thru once in awhile, no big deal.  As I was laying there two rangers drove by real close, I guess because I had my skinz g-string on and you could barely see the thread  and I was on my stomach tanning my bunns.  They never stopped and even later on when I was taking my strut down the beach they drove by and waved.  You gotta love the Fort, I had such an awesome time tannning and really enjoying myself in my g-string.  I will be out to the Fort on Wednesday to keep my tan going and do I have a dark tan with one exception,  a small white line aroung my hips and a small dart in front.

See ya at the Fort!

Hey Mia

Where is Fort Desoto Park? I travel the state, and try to make as many beach plans as possible! I love the ocean and coastal atmosphere, I mainly travel from Jacksonville to Miami (east coast) However I do make my appearance known on the west coast at times (Tampa-Clearwater area) I am use to going at it alone, and would love to team up for a great sunny day sometime. I have not found alot of thong friendly beaches, and so mostly where my low cut bikini, however I do own a few thongs, but they have not seen much of the sun. How is Fort Desoto Park with thongers? I have a new Lime color thong im wanting to hit the beach with. Hope to here from you soon. Would enjoy to here from other thongers as well.  Playinghorse13@yahoo.com

We've stayed at  Tierra Verde Yacht club on 689 South of the bridge some time ago, but it seems to be run down now, may want to have some future guests stay at Isla in the future. Please Let us know what you think of  Isla Yacht &country club.

We live right on hwy 689 in Tierra Verde just out of DeSoto in the winter, can put you in touch with some great Tierra Verde rental condos just out of DeSoto if Isla Yacht and country club doesn't work out for you.

Sorry to have missed you at DeSoto- we were thonging at DeSoto 8/22, possibly talked briefly with you that day. We're back in the north countrry now.

We really enjoyed our condo rental in Tierra Verde, the accomadations at Isla del Sol are very nice, we even wore our thongs at the community pool and hot tub a few times. We'll definitely be back...see you next time.

ctmonline-Thanks for the recommendation for Isla. We're also glad to know the pool and hot tub are thong friendly or at least thong tolerant and that you have thonged there with no hassle.  Likely there weren't very many visitors. We had thonged at DeSoto most days Aug 8 to 23 and didn't have much beach company except for weekends. DeSoto is always nearly deserted weekdays until the late fall visitors arrive.

Let's try and out number the walkers this Sunday!  I think we should all try to make it out. Sunday will have a hightide around 1:00pm. This should keep the walkers from the north down.  We are hoping to see a lot of couples out enjoying the beautiful weather. We were out last Saturday but had the kids so we stayed south. Did see a lot of people up that way.  Hope it's that crowded this weekend when we get a chance to get out without the kids.
