i've heard that Goa is probably the only place you can thong in India (an overwhelmingly conservative and boring country) so this doesn't surprise me at all. Goa is a hippie village is it not? maybe the guy in the video isn't actually from Goa but claims to 'own it' ie. THIS IS MY VILLAGE. he's wearing a major bulge from what i can tell but for a touristy beach you should be able to get away with a bit more. i don't think it would have been any different if he was wearing a conservative speedo style thong. some people are just idiots and i think you can expect this in an overpopulated country. he will be lauded as a hero among the majority of the population though so this is one reason i wouldn't be parading up and down a beach in India and many other countries like it.

I would not even dare to wear thong bikinis on any beaches in India. Not even in Goa. Yes, India is changing and there are a few beaches where it is acceptable to wear a bikini, but it is going to take a long time for that to change.

I would visit the beaches of Goa and Kerala in the 90’s while studying in Bangalore. That’s where I saw men and women thonging together (all europeans). I wore a thong at Kovalam in Kerala. I think the general popularity of men wearing thongs has decreased everywhere. I do think you could get away with it if discreet, but be prepared for a lot of unwanted attention especially from men.
