The Richmond and Z Ocean look like fantastic laces to stay, but PRICEY! Any suggestions for getting some decent rates at those places?

I stayed at the National last summer, and wore a Skinz Adj Micro G-String at the pool no issues. Some cute giggling teen girls made some comments, I  just made sure they then got a good view...lol. Ass up right near them.

Staff was no problem, drank at pool bar in the g-string and bartender was friendly.

The Z-Ocean is indeed expensive. However the Richmond is usually budget priced from Sunday to Thursday, and is almost always cheaper than the National, South Seas or the Z-Ocean for that matter.

If you're visiting around Memorial Day weekend the decision is clear- You can't find a SouthBeach hotel because of the Urban Beach takeover that weekend.  If you have a car or take the bus try 66th st and Collins Hotel. (see other mid/north beach posts)  Thong tolerant pool, and TNT beach. They have a parking lot if you have a car and you can get from either end easily.  Buses run up and down Collins/ A1A to either beach.

Tony, you'll need to clarify what time in may and what your budget is. Also whether you want a thong tolerant pool that stays open late.

recently stayed at the Cong   -ress Hotel on southbeach again.Got up to the pool early in the morning for some sun.  Only a few people around.  Wore a baggie string untied sometimes, or baggie with a shoulder strap.  Once wore a single sided thong.  Wore the single sided thong and was alone up there much of the time in the bright sunshine.  I walked around and over to the edge of the stairs.  I was looking around at people on Ocean Drive and coming from the beach.  I saw these there stunning ladies walking down the street.  They didn't seem to be looking up when they crossed the street, but one did glance up.  So about 10 min later here they come off the elevator.  They go over to the front steps that overlook the beach, and start taking pictures of one another with me laying in the background. One afternoon had  a short time to catch some sun so put on a baggie and shoulder to crotch strap, headed to the 5th floor sundeck and got some sun for about an hour.  A couple of people wandered in without saying anything.  It's a good semi private spot, but sheltered from the breeze so it gets hot there!
The pool deck seemed to be open more than ever in the early morning, late night hours. No evening bar hours so most often no one around. Elevator still on lock out but 5th floor back stair access still open.  The pool lights were off--so was my suit!  All those cameras they have up there--no one's looking at them!

Any ideas on how to get a SoBe hotel in February for cheaper?  Would like to do the National hotel, (or one like it), but there and other places are almost $300 with taxes and fees, a night! Is that what the hotels cost there now? Wanted to spend like a week there relaxing in tiny swimwear, but that will be very expensive. I was hoping it would cost under $200 a night. Any suggestions? Thanks

Joel:  Stay somewhere far enough away from SoBe to get a decent room rate and then drive to SoBe.  There is a public parking lot at 21st St. that has an adjoining bathroom and it's right on the beach.  If you get there before, e.g., 10:00, you should be able to get a parking place and you pay by credit card.  You can walk all of SoBe from there or you can rent a lounge chair on the beach right there.  Bring drinks and you'd be in exactly the same situation as if you stayed in the $300 hotel but about 1/4 the price.  If you look at the Google Beach View, there's even a guy in a g-string on the beach just a couple hundred feet north of that parking lot.  Maybe it's not as "cool" as staying there "at" SoBe but for 1/4 the price I feel more "cool" having money in the bank.

The Richmond hotel on 18th & Collins is normally 70-75% of the price of the National, and has a pool & hot tub open till midnight. February can be a tricky month to find a good deal as it's high season. The previous poster had a good idea of staying in North Miami Beach and parking at south beach. Two affordable but decent hotels up north are the Deauville and the Collins hotels. FYI that area is just as thong friendly as SOBE.
If you do stay up north and drive to south beach, you'll be better off parking at the 15th street garage on Collins or the one on  17th street that's a few blocks inland from the beach. The public lot on 21st is 3 hours max, so you have to go back and keep feeding the meter.

Thanks for the help. What a difference going farther north. The Collins hotel is $144, and they have a real nice pool which I would think would be good for thongs and g strings?  It's only a block from the beach.  I think for the price we'd be happy there or some place in that area. Are all the hotel pools in that area thong friendly?Actually I got my previous post wrong, the National was $300 a night for January; it's 495 plus taxes and fees a night for February!  As you said, high season. Thanks again!

If you want a newly renovated clean hotel in the middle of South Beach where you don't need a car try the Haddon Hall. It is on Collins @ 15th St and just a block from the beach and walking distance from a huge collection of restaurants and bars. I have seen many folks, mostly women but some men walk from the Hall to the beach and back in thongs or g-strings. The local, inexpensive restaurants nearby include Lost Weekend on Espanola, Tequila Chicas and Finnegans on Ocean Drive, and Puerta Sagua on Collins. Let me know if you want recommendations on higher end restaurants.

Joel, the Collins hotel is very gstring friendly. Been there a dozen times and I've never had a problem there. One time I tried to sunbathe nude as I was the only one at the pool. Within 10 minutes the leader of the maid crew asked me to put on a suit so I put on a gstring and had no further issue that day. The Deauville is also gstring friendly.

I second that- there's another thread somewhere with a lot of info on "mid beach" hotels from the 40's up.  I've worn baggies and straps there at the pool- so I just don't look completely nude.
I haven't tried it but there are frequent buses on Collins that could get you down to 23rd or south in a few minutes then you don't have to worry about parking.  Collins has it's own parking lot.I've wanted to try to walk from the 60's to the 20's all the way on the beach or "board walk" sidewalk the whole way in a thong.  You could make a whole day of the trip.  It'd be cool for a group to do and especially women walking topless- why not make a video blog of it!  It would be cool to swing and jiggle all the way down the beach.

I stayed next door to that Days Inn @ 21st st, at the Ocean Surf.  It was one of the cheapest on the beach (it's got a little access road to cross, and then you're at the ocean walk).  The place is really old, and you can tell they aren't putting any more money into it than they have to.  Staff was great, and everything was very clean, just worn out.  I wore a thong from my room to the beach and back several times, so it was all good!

So we ended up deciding to go in April to Miami and booked a week at the Collins Hotel.  Looking forward to the pool and beach in tiny swimwear. Planning on taking only thongs, g strings and baggies for my swimwear. I understand they have day passes for a gym close by since there is nothing at their property.  I will work out and lift weights in the morning, so looking forward to trying that gym out. One thing I’d like to do if I could, would be to do my cardio after weights on the beach. I would love to do my run (around 8 in the morning) on the beach in a muscleskins thong. I’ve never done this before, so a few questions to those who have: Collins is a block off the beach; what is the best way to get there, with just shorts on? Do you jog with sneakers on, or barefoot? If no shoes what do you do with your stuff once on the beach as carrying it would be difficult? Would this be a possibility on this part of Miami beach? Thanks for the help.

To get to the beach from CH you go out on the Collins Ave sidewalk turn right, down to 65th St light and across- there may be breaks in traffic enough to cross in the middle of the block - but it's usually non stop.  Then go through the little park by the city parking lot and there's the beach.  The "boardwalk" which was a sidewalk got partially torn up by the last hurricane, probably repaired by April.  You could jog on there in a thong with running shoes it parallels the beach.  On the beach it's up to you- barefoot , running shoes or with barefoot running sandals??   The sand varies from real soft to packed depending on tide etc. While on Collins Ave I wear a larger swimsuit or small shorts- in this area you don't see thongs out on Collins Ave- that's only on Southbeach.  As far as your stuff?  you will have to carry it or have someone watch it- you can't leave stuff there- someone will steal it or assume it's abandoned- this is a city like NYC!

I regularly run in the surf on Miami Beach. You get more exercise for a shorter run! Wear onion skin shorts or similar and light thongs and run with them. I regularly leave my stuff (cheap shorts and thong footwear) under a cheap towel and have had something stolen only once in over 20 years.

Ok, a reverse question. You all are telling where to stay and I am headed to Miami first week of June. Where NOT to stay? Looking at package deals with Expedia and a lot of places in my price range, but places I do not see anyone talking about. Seems thongs are allowed just about everywhere. Just want to know hotels to stay away from because they make it unpleasant to wear thongs.

Re:HOTELS in South Beach , Miami Beach, SOBE

Well the good news is that thongs should be OK at most every hotel in the Miami area unless there is a big group of kids etc.  Almost every beach in the area should be good for thongs- it's just given the choices we seem to head to South Beach , Mid Beach or Haulover.     We haven't really gotten any reports of places where thongs aren't allowed, though some extreme suits might get some push back at a few hotels such as reports on baggies, see thru, etc.

Thongs fine on any section of beach, but you may be more comfortable north of 13th street or south of 5th. Crowd tends to be more urban between 5th and 10th.
Only hotel I wouldn't thong at is Loews. Lots of kids there so may not be as comfy as other hotels.

The morning is a great time to jog the beach. It isn't blistering hot and there are plenty of active people out and about. I will usually wear shorts and a tee to the beach along with flip flops and I wrap sunblock and my phone in a towel. I will layout my towel in a good spot for catching rays afterward. Placing my flip flops and clothes on the towel then strip down and apply sun screen. This makes it look like I am swimming nearby. I have never had an issue with anyone taking anything.

The sun can get intense quickly so I always be sure to lather up 1st. I place my room key and valuables in a locker at the hotel so I never have to worry about that. I figure if anyone takes my stuff, all I would need to do is grab another towel and go back to the hotel.

I usually set up around 14th and jog to the port to the south then check on my stuff as I job back North and continue on the same distance to the north. I've never had a problem except for the wind sometimes nearly covering my towel in sand but that's if I'm gone for over an hour.

Here now at the Collins hotel in Miami. Lots of families poolside haven’t been able to thong there yet. The beach is not too busy; a number of ladies in thongs, but no guys. I’m the only one wearing a thong. And in a muscleskin poser I’m wearing the smallest swimsuit on the beach!  Here till next Tuesday; we’ll see how it goes.

Must say I’m disappointed with the thonging here in Miami at the Collins hotel. Went to Haulover yesterday (which was good), but I’m finding thongs just not that frequent here on this section of the beach especially on guys - none!  Anyway I’m here so I decided to wear today a tiny g string from ebabee at the beach at 65th street. While definitely no problem (set up 20 yards from the lifeguard station); I didn’t feel all that comfortable either. Sunbathed for 2 hours there, but did not feel like I could walk around.  Don’t know if or what anyone said since no one speaks English. Maybe I have to go down to south beach to be more comfortable? Don’t feel like I can thong at the hotel pool either it’s just been so busy.

@joelpool thanks for the report. Unfortunately male thongers are pretty rare even on SB. I be seen maybe 2 or 3 during my 25-20 trips there. However it seems totally acceptable just not common.

The Collins Hotel and beach is discussed on another thread somewhere on here called Miami Beach or Mid Beach.  My previous posts explain I've seen one or two men in thongs on the beach there at one time- I think I was there in Feb.  Then I've experienced a thong explosion on one visit when a South American  high school group of girls in town for dance squad competitions stayed at the Deauville and were outside on the beach for two day- that I realized then was not going to happen again- at least for a while.( I didn't check lately to see if that hotel has reopened- it had a small fire in July '17damaged  the whole electrical system- it was still closed I saw in Oct '17)
Was able to hit South Beach for three days this month.  I'd say I saw between one and three other guys in real thongs each day.  Most days I'd walk up and down the beach so if I said I sat in one place I'd probably not see any.  Throughout time that's been the way it is.  Now women that's another story.  In April I'd say 85% of women were in cheeky bikini or smaller- and 45% in true thongs.  For a G string fan like me- well maybe I'd see 2-3 per day.  topless this month was less than ever.  I'd sometimes see less than 6 a day!So for the TIV factor  (thongs in view) I experienced 2-30 each day!

Is it safe to say that gstrings and thongs one wears on the beach are OK on your hotel balcony or terrace?  I'll be at the Congress and have a balcony room reserved.

Sorry about the rain. Poor weather will probably keep locals of the beach.
Today the only people you are likely to see on the sand work there or are other tourists.

I wore a g-string no problem at the Riviera rooftop pool; however the pool on the ground level was closed at the time so I couldn't try that one.
