Glad you found the spot ok. Beach faces east so sun tends to go behind cliffs as day progresses. Heading further, past Horse Ledge, towards Luccombe well worth the effort, but watch the tides.

Lucombe has been recomended to me before as a good thonging beach , but I understand  it`s only accessable at low tides.

Managed  several beach & swim sessions this last week. By way of a change I wore my Jovana so called moderate bikini, which made me feel a little over dressed. Years ago I would have thought this suit too brief - how times change!

Re Luccombe I walked there last week - fully wrapped up in stiff NE wind. Allow about 1/2 hour from Appley steps. Tides need to be checked carefully - HW Portsmouth gives the detail. Wide open sands provide a superb beach location for g-stringing. If LW middayish stay could be several hours with sun at it's hottest. Roll on next summer!  Old steps down to Luccombe now look totally inaccessible.

I strolled along the Luccombe beach yesterday just wearing a skimpy bikini for about an hour. How about that for March - absolute bliss!

Had time for a couple of beach sessions at Shanklin this week. Water temperature superb! Wore G string one morning but reverted to thong for second, lunchtime, visit as place very busy with holiday makers. As ever no problems at all. Noticed a chap on his own sunning in a string bikini.

Can`t complain about the weather this year, but not had much time to visit beaches. Visited the far end of Yaverland ,7th of August, very busy with Holiday makers, wore a Kiniki  swim G string, water was loverly.   Noticed two nudists but no other thongers, not even speedo weares !
I think we are a dieing breed ??

Seaswimmer : " I think we are a dieing breed ?? " - hopefully not! I have continued to g/thong at Shanklin when weather cooperates. re Yaverland presumably that means parking in the council car park?Do you know whether the Rocken End car park is accessible following recent landslip on Undercliff road?

seaswimmer2007 #114

Re:Isle of Wight and nearby beaches - UK.

Date Posted:08/26/2014 05:28:56Copy HTML

As far as I know the small car park for Blackgang beach is accessable from  Niton Village end, I  visited the Buddle  Inn  back in April and the Undercliff road was closed just after St Cathrines Road.
I  have  also been informed the climb down to the beach has been remade and is now quite easy ?? But I have not been down my self , this year.
I have just not had the time, which is a shame, as we have had the best summer for some time.
But I am still determined to do some more sea swimming, wearing a thong or G string, before the summer draws in.

Thanks for the nav. advice - managed to find the car park road from "other" direction. I had several beach sessions at Shanklin at the end of September - water a good 18 c & perfectly acceptable. Weather now turned so I guess that's it until next year

More super beach sessions this last weekend. Slipped thong off in the water & swam nude. Then beach combed in the thong for a good half mile to dry off. Fantastic.

Not been in the sea this mounth, due to the teriable weather, no tan lines this year.
I did discover the beach at Whitecliff  bay , was very good for a early morning  thong  and nude swim.

Sorry to hear that. Managed quite a few sessions myself. Max worn is Snyder Kini so tan lines not much in evidence either!

Good to read about your UK sea swims this summer, gsj and seaswimmer. I didn't get to the coast myself, but swam a few times in the unheated lido in London's Brockwell Park, which was "refreshing" i.e. I felt a bit dizzy & strange as I warmed up to normal temperature afterwards(not wearing my thong but very brief rio-back bikini)

Brockwell Park, is that Tootting ? I understood that was fairly Thong friendly. Is it open to all, and worth a visit when in London ?

@Seaswimmer Brockwell Park Lido is different from Tooting. Closest station is Herne Hill.

Enjoyed first proper swim & sunbathe of the season this week. As ever wore very little & equally no one took any (obvious) notice. Sea temp ok after a few moments to climatise.

Thonged on the Beach at Brightstone, last few weeks, almost deserted, one nudist couple,  easy to park, first left a few yards past IOW Pearl, space for about 10 cars.Short walk down the path and steps. Sea bed a bit rockyMight go some were else today, Yaverland down the end possibly ?

Re:Isle of Wight and nearby beaches - UK.

hi Seaswimmer - no other end towards Luccombe. Much quieter & g-string territory! I have worn a Jovana extreme micro at Yaverland, &  Gemali thong at Compton, all without any issue. Re Brighstone - I think called Chilton Chine - presumably not a lot of beach at high water, as with Compton Beach?

Re:Isle of Wight and nearby beaches - UK.

High Tide not too bad if you pick the right spot, went down there last Wed, wore a small G String, sea was calm, so went in several times.Keep meaning to try Luccumbe,  can it only be accessed at low tide ? is it much of a walk from Hope Beach ?
gsj #136

Re:Isle of Wight and nearby beaches - UK.

Date Posted:08/29/2016 04:02:21Copy HTML

I frequent Luccombe end of Shanklin beach - plenty of groynes to set up one's pitch. Not a lot of beach at HW but that means less people & less walk to the sea. G string de rigeur.

gsj,  looks like its going to be another nice day tomorrow, Wed 31 st, I was  considering going to  Yaverland, but as you put it  Lucumber is G String de rigeur, therefore. I think I should give it a go.

Had my first IOW swim end of May - water a little bracing so more a splash around. Another session yesterday with water much warmer. Wore my Jovana extreme micro string - wunderbar! Set up near others, no one took any (obvious) notice including walking to & from the water. I find, I think like others, that having migrated to briefer attire one does not want to revert to previous wear.

gsj,  glad you  thonging, was this the usual  beach? Not been in the Sea yet,  unusual for me, usually go for a bracing dip in April. Got two new Hom swim G`s to try,  is it still easy at low tide to swim  wear you go ?
gsj #145

Re:Isle of Wight and nearby beaches - UK.

Yes, usual beach. LW just means longer walk to the wet stuff. Swam there again last week - water really warm. Also thonged at Compton Bay, was about HW so not a lot of beach.

More g string swimming this last week - now the norm for me. As ever no obvious notice by anyone - including a dog walker whose hound got its' lead round my ankles when walking back to towel.

Wearing an old Intersparta g string the other day. Elastic must be getting weak. A big wave nearly removed it. Went from near naked to naked in an instant! Managed to refit before coming ashore, modesty such as it was restored.

Managed a couple of thonged sun bathing session on the beach this week before weather turned back to winter. Didn't risk putting big toe into sea - still far too cold!

Several beach sessions  last week. Water warm enough for swimming & sun hot enough to stroll the beach to dry off. Wore my old Intersparta G string or J Snyder Kini - felt a bit overdressed  in the latter but scrunched the rear into a thong. Wonderful!
