Hey, Michthong, thanks for the comments.  How wide are the sides on the regular Joe Snyder thong.....the rio sides are about 3/4 inch.  It's hard to tell from the websites, but they look quite a bit wider.

I have 5 Joe Snyder swimsuits. 3 Tanga thongs, 1 Rio thong, and 1 Capri bikini. All are excellent quality, fit and feel. Although, the Rio thong is a bit small in front for me. It does make for great underwear, whereas the Tangas are fine for outdoor beach use. All of them were purchased via ebay at a real good price. I highly reccomend giving them a try for yourself.

Hey dennis at thongbeach they measure 3/4 inch on the sides but when worn they are about 1/2 inch, other than the dore low cut they are my favorite tanning suit.  Fits like a glove but very comfortable to wear.  Hope this helps

Hey Michthong, thanks for the helpful advice.  I ordered three regular thongs and I agree with you, the fit is very good and I like them a lot.  Surprisingly though, the yellow one has slightly wider straps--must have come from a different batch than the other two.  i'll definitely be taking them with me to the TX beach next week.

As info, I also thought I would try one of the Joe Snyder g-strings.  I am always reluctant to buy anything that says "one size fits all" because usually one size fits nobody well!  Well, my instincts were correct.  I would recommend this suit for NO ONE!  The straps are far too long to fit tight, if you have a small waist, and the pouch is worthless.  It's too narrow at the bottom,  too wide at the top, and just plain does NOT fit well.

Thanks again, though for the recommendation on the regular thongs.  Great suits!

Hey Dennis at thong beach thanks for the info on the g-strings, I was actually considering one until now.  I am surprised that the yellow JS has wider straps than the other, I have one of each color and they are all the same, if anything the yellow might even be a bit smaller than the others.

Michthong....yea I checked the lables real closely and can tell that the label is slightly different on the yellow one, so my guess is that it is a slightly older suit.  Just happened to get it.  I definitely will be wearing these at the beach next week.

As far as the JS g-string, DEFINITELY do not waste your money.  The 'string' is actually an elastic band that is as almost as wide as the regular thong straps and the fit is worthless.  If you have a tight waist, the elastic is FAR too long.  Too bad, because, like you, I like the fit of the regular thongs.

I've actually been wearing  JS thongs to the beach for some time now. I wished they had more colors, but I like the fit of the tanga thongs.  Skinz cutaways have been my long time favorite but the JS are a nicer fit. If I'm going to the beach with friends I'll wear a Skinz since they are not so contour and forming I might have to liquidate some Skinz to make room for some more JSs. I did find out while at the beach in the water, that the white is total transparent.

I have to agree about the JS thongs.  They are a great fit and are very comfortable.  Also agree with the G-string.  I purchased one in Mexico last June and once I tried it on... Yuk!  They look cheap and don't feel or fit as good as the thongs.  For a coverup, you guys might want to look at the JS boxer shorts.  They're made of the same nylon and fit very nicely over your thong.  Great way to cover up if you can't walk from the beach or pool in a thong.

I recently received a blue JS rio thong. It's a great thong, with a great fit. I specially like the way it shapes my equipment and the back of the suit is also well proportioned.

Yesterday I received my order from Joe Snyder and Skinz.

I ordered capri bikini from JS,  fitted rio and skinny side rio from Skinz.

I would like to say about the size of them. I usually wear "M" size underwear so I ordered medium size from Skinz  but "L" size from JS.

I think "L" size from JS is equal to "M" size from Skinz. The quality of them is very good. they fit very well. I hope I will enjoy by wearing them to the pool.

The difference between them is that Skinz products have a very thin strap on the sides but front side is a little conservative. Back side of them is similar.

Bye.

I've got two JS Rio thongs in Med since I usually wear a small Skinz. The Rio thong is pretty small, but the material is remarkably stretchy. Still if you are well endowed or even just above average, the the Rio thong will barely cover what you have. I'm about the national average for "equipment" size and the suit fits very snug. I probably would have been more comfortable in a Large, but if you like the minimalist look, the Rio thong is a good choice.

Ok, I am confused now.  I am interested in ordering a capri bikini from JS and am curious about the sizing and the cut in the back.  I typically wear a size L and have a 36" waist.  Should I go with the JS capri in a size L?  Their pictures on their website aren't the best in the world as far as showing the cut in the back.  I have a capri from Prevail Sport, and am curious as to how the JS cut compares in the back to the Prevail Sport suit?  I also have a Skinz skinny side rio on order (hopefully delivering today).  How will the JS compare in the back with the Skinz?

Thanks

NC, Joe Snyder does run a little smaller so you're gonna' want to definately opt for the large.  As for cut, you won't be disappointed.  The cut of the JS Capri is remarkably similar to that of the Prevail Sport Capri and the Skinz Skinny side Rio.

I got my JS thongs from eBay. When I placed the order, the seller promptly emailed me warning the JS line does run smaller than advertised and strongly suggested a med or large. I'm not a very big guy and the JS thongs are SNUG.

Just to quickly add my thoughts having received my own Joe Snyder rio thong and capri bikini today. The fit is great, the quality is great and the price very reasonable. They are cut small but I like my suits that way. I also like them unlined, which is as the JS suits come naturally. The thong is a great cut - narrow but very complementary - and the same can be said for the capri - narrower at the back than I expected but I like it! In fact I like them both so much I'll probably get another of each in a different colour! Great suits! Now I just need to find some place to wear them! *starts considering next vacation*

Just received my order of JS Capri bikinis today.  I LOVE the cut in the rear.  By far, the narrowest cut in the back so far.  They do run a bit smaller overall.  I am a 36" waist and opted for the L.  Borderline too small, kind of wished I got the XL.  Just a good reason to order some more in different colors!

I love the Joe Snyder suits, both the bikini and the thong.  I agree with some of the other writers:  I generally wear a medium, but with the JS wear a small for thongs and a large for bikinis.  All of their suits have proved very durable.  I wore my red thong almost exclusively at Riis park in Queens NY this summer and it shows little sings of deterioration.

The suits are unlined and the very lgiht-weight feeling is sexy to me.  The light blue and red colors show just a hint of anatony when wet, but not to a great degree.  Perfect

It would appear that the JS stuff generally runs on the small side, but tomnyc5000 has me confused. He Said he normaly wears a medium yet he got  a small JS thong and a larger bakini ? . I myself wear a Large in the Speedo thong , 36 in the Speedo Solar 1" suit, and a Medium in my Jockey and IM Thongs, but wear a 32 in my Levi's or Wrangler jeans.  SO the World doesn't use the same tape measure.   To Those of you who have JS Thongs ( I'm intrested in the RIO cut thong) what size do you reccomend I go with S/M/or L ??

I'm a size 36 in jeans and pants. I bought a large JS rio thong and it covers everything but it needs a little work and fine tunning after you put it on for it to do that. This is the only JS suit i have so I cannot tell if the suit came smaller or larger compared to other js products.

hope this helps.....

I have several JS suits 2 capris, 3 thongs, 1 clip bikini. The only one that has faded was the orange thong and that was because I liked wearing it to the tanning booth. I like my thong tanlines.  It faded from neon orange to a nice pastel orange. It faded well!  The others are just fine without the UV abuse.  The material feels good against my skin.  I'm 6'3" 190lbs and wear the large.

nicely made, but i've found the pouches to be almost un-wearably small, at least with the thongs. if the pouch was just a bit deeper or the fabric was a little stretchier it would be ok.

I have a problem with my two Joe Snyder suits (a Capri bikini and Rio thong) that I wondered if anyone else has experienced... the thread/sewing at the waist seam is coming undone. I don't know why - the suits are the right size and I've not done anything that could have damaged the suits and I always wash them by hand and leave them to hang dry. It's happening to both suits so I wondered whether it was a common problem with JS suits... especially as I'd like to order some more. I just don't want to spend money on suits that are going to be faulty. Has anyone else encountered this problem with Joe Snyder? Thanks - Nic

i've actually gotten used to the JS thongs now to the point where I fit in them ok...just barely. :-) it took a little while to figure out how to get everything tucked in to that little pouch. they don't leave much to the imagination. looking forward to wearing these at Ft Desoto instead of just my back yard once the weather warms up enough.

Having the same challange as many of you! The pouch is to smal and the sizing isn't standardized. I have ordered Rios and thongs in my usual size but all are very smal. If anybody wants to order, I really recomend to order one size bigger than you normally do!

joe snyder make some very good thongs. they are very comfortable. the front pouch does stretch a bit to fit larger equipment into, but at times i feel its a little small for my needs. the white ones are especially to be avoided if using a public pool or beach, well, unless you dont mind see through swimwear that is.

Hey Guys!

I found the most awesome thongs from a new company (or at least I think they're new).  The brand is JOE SNYDER.  They make several different bikinis/shorts/boxers/thongs, but I bought two of their thongs the regular one, style # 03 and the Rio thong, style #11.  The Rio is more narrow.

Anyways, the fit is incredible.  It's made of Lycra Spandex and Nylon and they completely hug your bulge.  I'm going to be wearing these to the beach next weekend here in S. Florida.

I bought mine on www.underwearstation.com, but noticed that there are several other websites that sell them as well.

Happy thonging!

I to am havign a minior issur with the stitching in the waistband. Ok for now, but will have to think about it befoe I buy another one.  If you wan't a Thong to Tan in this ones will work great.    Just Order big and you won't be disapointed.

i always wear it down. it won't fit any other way.

my ritual for fitting into a JS suit is: 1. tuck the balls into it with the penis pointing up. 2. slide the penis down into it. 3. tug on each side of the pouch a few times until everything is covered.

usually works!

my wife loves my JS rio Thong in white.  She likes the way it fits in the back and also likes the sheer when wet look.  I like the clip bikini the best for cut.  The other bikini withhout the clip is too narrow in back.

I have not had a problem with bleeding in chlorine but do take care to wash/rinse them thouroughly after chlorine use.

Just bought myself a Joe Snyder bikini, capri and thong and used them during my holiday in Boracay. Been very satisfied with it and the unlined pouch fells and looks great. I tried to follow the instructions when washing it, use mild soap and warm water, what I notice afterwards was that some of the color was washed out. My suit may have faded a bit but hopefully the fit would remain as is.

I have a few JS bikinis and thongs with more on the way from a friend visiting Mexico. I really love the thongs and they are great for outdoor tanning, but with everything else, special care should be taken to insure the that garments last longer. I do have one older bikini that has deteriorated somewhat, but I am sure that was because of extensive pool use.

I too have a few Joe Snyder swimsuits. Four thongs and one capri. The capri has the smallest pouch of the styles i have tried, though it does fit better then the pouch on the Rio thong. The tanga thong has a larger pouch ensuring coverage.

All of their styles are unlined and provide an great fit and feel. But, I would be hesitant to wear my Rio thong in publicas I said it is a bit harder to fit into the narrow front at times. The color selection is fantastic. I have red, black and yellow. The yellow is great when it gets wet. It become see-through in a very sexy, teasing way. Well, thats my view on the suit's transparency. Pick one up and give it a try. If you don't like it for swimwear, it does make excellent underwear, and is great for tanning either indoors or out.

Re:Joe Snyder suits

I have 3 Joe Snyder suits.  I prefer using them as swimwear as they dont breath very well for underwear (nylon, lucra mix). I have a white rio thong and it is see-thru when wet for about 5-10 minutes.  I have a black clip bikini and it fits the best.  I also have a black capri bikini which is really small in the rear.  For me, it turns into a thong VERY easily.

For any Joe Snyder, consider buying up a size.

The Rio thong is pretty narrow up front.  It will require a bit of tucking every now and then.  The bikinis and the normal thong (dont have one but will soon) are cut very well in the front.

I have heard other members on this board get some Joe Snyders at Gigante in mexico (department store) for about $6.  I paid about $13 each for mine (ebay).

I own several pairs and find it no problem to use them as both underware and swimwear.  I think that most of the light colored suits to tend to become transparent when they become wet.  But as it was stated earlier, I would order a size bigger.  Sometimes I have a hard time keeping the back from turning into a thong.  If I wanted a thong, I would order one.

Hmmm - I'm not sure I'd agree with redraider on the "see-thru" part - both the orange and the light blue are quite see-thru when wet. I hvan't got a bikini back but I'd agree that the Capri back is great - but. as you'll see on may threads round here - order a size up for the capri - the front is cut a tad too small for the waist size.
