I would call myself a bikini fanatic and my collection is massive and growing weekly. I think I have everything that I want but who knows? Here's a chance for us girls to make suggestions on what fits well, what looks great, what styles and brands go the distance, and which bikinis or styles you wished your partner/husband/boyfriend/SO/girlfriend/lover would buy you.

For me, Wicked Weasel was love at first sight. After buying two suits on a starving student's salary, I quickly realised that my excitement in the purchase was rather short lived when I had to wear the suits I bought in front of my university girlfriends. I had bought the 446 in white lycra and the 403 in gold power mesh. All my friends looked at the suits and knickers, but I was the only one that bought anything. Those bikinis stayed in my bag until the second last day of the trip, when I threw on the 446 bikini and dived into the hotel pool. When I got out, all my friends started cackling, as my suit had become nearly transparent. When embarrassed, the best thing you can do is be cool and I tried my best. Six minutes of splashing around the pool later, and I had gained the best looking guy at the pool (me without paper to write his email or phone number down).

WW last for ages, and I still have the first dozen suits I have bought. I wore one of those just this year (so nearly 17 years old). In sort I can't recommend their stuff enough.

My favorite WW suit is the 449 hipster thong and limited edition 334 Bandeau in the mermaid fabric. I have it in white and green. Both when wet disappear. From a distance it looks like you're nude.

If I could bring back any suit, it would be the 313 triangle top and 494 bottoms in angel mesh or the 336 top and 475 bottoms in shiny two tone lycra. Both were sadly lost when the airline lost my luggage.

I hope this post kicks off some nice suggestions so I can expand my collection. Please keep it to women's swimwear fellas, there are literally dozens and dozens of threads talking about men's styles, I'd just like one for the girls.

I'd love to hear from you all - especially the sisterhood here!

Hi Bren,
I 100% agree with you, I love my WW suits and you're right they last ages.
I was quite lucky when I got my first as my friends went along with it too, shortly afterwards we arranged a girly trip abroad where we all wore WW suits.

My girlfriend hasn't tried WW yet.  We hear great things about the suits but haven't ordered yet.

She loves her Malibu Strings suits. My favorite on her is the tiny bottom. It's a bit much for residential/public beaches but they hold up great. The tiny bottom is super small but the strings are very strong.  She has even run it through the wash a few times. Compared to some of the other suits she has its very well-made. The only downside is they take forever to ship.

She also has a the-bikini.com micro bottom. These are also pretty well made suits and very revealing. She actually has the micro bandeau top which is literally 2" wide. Looks great on her but a bit much for most beaches. The bottom is very narrow cut and on the extreme side.

Another company she likes is SwimXotic. She has a micro g-string suit from them and it's pretty decent quality. This suit is not as narrow in the bottom. She likes this suit for more public/crowded beaches. It doesn't "floss" so she can not really worry about lying down with her legs closed.

The only disappointing brand she's tried is Bitsys's Bikinis. She wore one of the euro micro suits in Miami. The coverage of the suit was unbelievably hot.  The bottom was extremely small. Only problem is it was literally made  out of paper. She didn't even bother to wash it after one wear. Just threw it in the trash.
I would say out of all her suits the MS is the best made.

@visa - I've also got bikinis from MS and compared to WW they are similar, I would give the slight advantage to WW because if I am not not sure about sizing or sewing, I can always see for myself at the stores. Plus the in-store customer service is fabulous.
Teeny-B is also a great quality brand from the USA and I have a few of their suits. They are a little wider in the front and less chance of flossing. The sewing is first class but they are expensive, at least for Australians.
SNS is a brand that I like as well, but the sewing is just below the industry leaders. A few of my suits only lasted 3 seasons and subsequently fell apart.
Hope this helps.

@Sarah - the quality of the materials and sewing hasn't faded one bit in all my years wearing WW but I have noticed that the sizing has gotten a little smaller. I know my body and @$$ hasn't changed that much in 18 years.
I am glad there is another fan here.
What do you think of the new releases? I love the Mojito and Lemonade suits. I just wished they released the 454 micro bottoms across more fabrics. That cut is so flattering and makes feel a 100x sexier than usual.

Hi Bren,
You are 100% correct, mine are still as good as the day I bought them. I agree with the smaller feel although don't you feel that once they're on and you've been moving or in the water that they feel exactly the same as the day you first put them on? I'm a massive fan.
I haven't got the Mojito but I do like the look. I get the impression that because of the larger size of it that when it does go transparent it draws more attention than a smaller suit as it makes it blatantly obvious that it's transparent? Just my thought it may not be correct.
The last one I bought was the Rainbow 449 thong bottom and bikini top. The only reason is that it brought back so many memories of my first holy rainbow suit  probably about 15 years ago now (I can't remember exactly when).
I love the babewatch 1 piece also and it's modest enough to wear here in the UK, and I love the sheer vision suits which aren't quite suitable for the UK haha

I hope you still have that suit because the holy rainbow is one of the few missing from my WW collection. I was overseas when the released it and missed out. One day, I hope that one of the girls finds one in the vault and gives me a call, they can pretty much name their price and I'll pay it.
You are spot on when it comes to sheer suits and the amount of positivity that you get when you wear them. I have gotten much more smiles, waves and just good will when I wear a sheer suit when compared with the a micro or microminimus suit. The pixel fabric and sheer vision fabric on the mojito are crowd stoppers. I tested the Mojito in Melbourne today at Mt Martha and even though it wasn't packed there were people doing double and triple takes.
As crazy as this sounds I was more nervous about wearing a sheer one piece than I ever was wearing a sheer micro! Go figure. Now I have an excuse to buy the WW activewear. Finally some really sexy gym gear (Love Love Love the crop leggings!) but hope that they don't mess with my tan.

Hi Bren,
Yes I have still got it :) I haven't worn it for a very long time, although might dust it off for my holiday in May. That's if I haven't sold it to you for an extortionate price ;) LOL
Yeah the larger sheer stuff seems to draw a lot more attention, I think purely because it's a large surface area and it draws the eye. I may be wrong. I tend to go smaller though as it's all about the tanlines for me, my SO love them on me :)
You're so lucky living in the place you do, it's -4 degrees ish today and we've had threats of snow this week.
I've never really worn a 1 piece for an extended period as I only tan and haven't done any shoots etc. I've tried a sling for my SO but I didn't like that as it doesn't stay in place.
I haven't looked at the activewear, I'm a PT so I'm not sure it would suit for wearing to work etc. haha however let me know what it's like when you buy it.

Trying out a new bikini this Sunday from an Australian company called Moana Bikini - the Marlin top in coral and the knotted bottoms in fuchsia. A bit of a mix and match set (hopefully my OCD can handle the contrasting colours). Its a little more coverage than I am used to but since I'll be with little kids all Sunday, I don't want too many hassles.

More of a cheeky suit than a thong, but in this case it works out well.

The Moana Marlin Top and Knotted Bottoms caused absolutely zero ruckus at the beach party fundraiser on Sunday. Even surrounded by about 40 kids and maybe 100 adults, the only comments I heard were on where they could buy the suit (it's online and an Australian company), were there other colours (they're reversible which means you get two suits for the price of one) and where I got my sheer hoodie cover up (I really don't remember but it's cool right?).
Even the few times that I went without the cover up, there really wasn't any negative comments and looking at some of the pics of the day, I don't think I was rocking the smallest suit. There were more than a few ladies rocking cheeky bikinis and some string bikinis that were a Brazilian cut.

I choose to see this as progress in the move to more cheeky and brief styles with the girls. Every guy including my hubby wore board shorts. LOL

Just had a look at the Moana website, there's some lovely stuff on there and the patterns are very funky
Seems like a decent bikini/thong/cheeky range for ladies to make the step into getting their butt seen without the extremity of going to WW straight off the bat.
I just wrote that before reading your last sentence about progress Bren and now I feel silly :). Great minds though

@Sarah
I hope you get the chance to pick up something funky like the Moana styles because I can't think of a place where they would be inappropriate. I was lucky enough to grab the Sunburnt Scallop set about a month ago and it has this really funky top design that is supposed to look like seashells. I think it looks fabulous and unique. I love the fabric and it is really strong having survived a session at the Japanese Garden Spa where some of my bikinis have been damaged beyond repair.
The only downside is the crazy tanlines from the side straps. Check it out. Sadly I think they won't have your size.

My favorite suit on a female is chooks la. The different cuts and colors are awesome! Lots of girls rock them here in Hawaii. You guys should give it a try :)

Hi Lovethebeach

Thanks for the suggestion, I have a couple of Boutine suits already and they are pretty cool. I am move of a fan of printed fabrics with lots of colours but sometimes a nice two tone or monotone suit does wonders at the times when I need to make a run for the pool or beach to a nice restaurant or bar. Just throwing a maxi skirt over the one piece works best when it looks like a bodysuit and not swimwear.
I really can't tell what the differences between the Chooks LA label and the Boutine LA label from the photos on Instagram. Not sure if I want a label that says Chooks. I have the feeling that if some people see that, I am sure I'll get some comments and not about my butt.
Seriously, thank for you for the suggestion.
