I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be as comfortable thonging in Battersea Park this year as I have been in past years.  Stick to the area mentioned in my earliest post on this thread (fourth position) to avoid being too in-your-face with passers-by who are walking along the main paths.

I prefer to avoid the sunniest/hottest days as it gets a little bit too full with sunbathers on the grassy banks for my liking - I like to have a bit of a 'private zone' around me.  But then, I always do when I sunbathe, thongs or not!

I wasn't around for the sunny spell a few weeks ago, but if the sun returns, then I'll be returning to the Park!

Thanks the lord, the first decent days weather for about a month!

Had a nice run through Hyde Park this morning and have spent the rest of the day sunning in the garden having a cold beer or two.  I really hope this weather lasts for a few days, it's been so crap here recently.

Hoping I've topped up my thong tan lines, been wearing a light blue HOM Ussac swim string, leaves a great shaped set of lines.

I finally had the oppertunity to go into London yesterday so I thought I would drop in to Parliament Hill Lido for the first time this year.

I am pleased to report two women in thongs and one in a nearly thong plus me in a HOM ressac thong.

I did hear some comments, which happens about 1 in 5 times I go there, and I think I upset a couple of women who were chatting and swimming, they noticed only when I had been swimming widths for over 10 minutes. I over heard one say they would have words and I saw them swim towards the lifegaurds. The lifegaurds didn't even look over in my direction, nor did the ones walking round the pool who could plainly see what people are wearing, and neither did the the two police officers who were also doing their rounds.

I think they could hardly say anything to me when there were women blatently walking around and all I did was lie in the sun and walk directly to the pool and back.

Over all a good afternoon and hopefully I'll get another chance to go before the end of the season.

My wife and I just spent two nights in the Jumeriah Lowndes Hotel for our anniversary.  This is a beautiful hotel just near to Harrods and Harvey Nicholls and close to Sloane St so ideal for shopping fans (my wife cost me a small fortune! lol). There is no pool etc at the hotel but you are offered complimentry access to the gym, spa etc at the sister hotel around the corner, literally a 2 minute walk.  The other hotel is the Jumeriah Carlton Tower and it stunning inside. We thonged in the pool and hot tub and both had massages whilst wearing thongs although treatments are seperate. Both hotels were extremely friendly and welcoming and I'd recommend either for a special break.

Looks like I am staying in west London at the end of June. Assuming we get the weather, are there any places for a girl to thong safely nearby? Quiet corner of Hyde or Holland Park maybe?

I am visiting my parents next to Wimbledon Park tomorrow and we are expecting to take our children to the water area.

Presently I plan to wear my short rugby shorts with my thong underneath, and I'll also bring my Speedo Endurance brief.

If it is discrete, I may lay out in my thong.

Having discussed it with her-indoors / she who must be obeyed reckons thonging in Wimbledon Park would probably not be welcome where as on a South Coast beach like Brighton it would be fine.

I'm going to play it by ear tomorrow.

I may thong. I may hoist my Speedo over my thong and do a Britney instead. I may just thong discretely on the ground and wear Speedo's when standing up. We will see and try not to frighten the natives or cause my 70 year old father "anxiety".

Hi publicgirluk in answer to your question you shouldn't have any trouble thonging in Hyde Park - I've seen girls thonging without any hassle (even on the strip of grass alongside the Serpentine where you can hire deck-chairs - it gets quite busy when the weather's good).
There's plenty of places where not so many people congregate as well so you should be ok if you want a bit of peace (have a look at the Hyde Park thread further on this topic for more info).
I'm just round the corner and I've thonged a couple of times myself in the morning but it was a bit daunting as a bloke, so if you fancy some company let me know as I'd be grateful for the moral support of a fellow thonger.
PS - I was going to post on the Hyde Park thread to see if anyone out there was interested in going this Saturday but it looks like the weather's going to be pants for the time being :(

I worked near Hyde Park a few years ago and used to pop in there at luchtime and after work during summer to sunbathe. I found a quiet area ( to the south of the area between Clarendon and Victoria Gate) and initially wore only a g-string but the place is so out of the way that I sunbathed nude several times. I saw other nudists on a couple of occasions. The area was covered in rough grass which provided cover when lying down or sitting however I do not know what it is like now.

 Hi Publicgirl
You mention Hyde or Holland Parks for thonging. I regularly run in Holland Park, and I did once see a young woman sunbathing in a thong (or very brief rio-back bikini) there, with some friends - might be more of a challenge on your own, as the open grassed areas are relatively small and get crowded on fine days. On the other hand, the park seems very popular with the French population of Kensington, so most of the people there are likely to be thong-tolerant! But I would have thought Hyde Park is a better option, because there is so much space that you can find a quiet spot -  or you could go by the Serpentine where lots of people will be in swimwear at least.

Thong report: Brockwell lido may be viable but not sure it is actually "friendly". A couple of thongs and topless last week. On the negative side there seems to be a more learly/ladish culture with intimidating groups.

I have often visited the Lido in Hyde Park by the Serpentine. It is not uncommon to find guys and ladies in just g-strings or bikini bottoms. No-one has batted an eyelid when I've worn the tiniest of g-strings, even the life guards.  Sometimes when it's quiet I have even worn my very tight sheer black g-string, which leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination ! One day I saw a guy go swimming in the Serpentine absolutely naked, but I have not yet got up the courage to do this yet.  You have to pay to go into the Lido area, but it's certainly worth it to go almost nude.  This is one of the very few areas in London where you can do this as far as I know. It's certainly worth trying.

Re:London UK - Parks / Pools / Sunbathing Areas

Just been to the Lido this morning, but unfortunately no other guys or girls in thongs.  It was very quiet  and mostly mums with their children. Nevertheless I put the tiniest non-sheer g-string I've got which is a red teardrop pouch.  Sometimes when there are only adults about I wear my tiny black g-string.

It costs £4 to get in, but closes very soon, September 12th I believe.

I should say that 50% of the time I've met guys (and girls) in thongs and often ladies topless around the entrance.
Well worth a visit for the freedom of wearing the minimum, probably next year now.  I prefer nude but this is the next best thing.

I am still feeling knackered from my sterling performance at a Triathlon this weekend, and yes it was nippy being out bare feet, wet, with no shirt on.

Friends, what I need is a spa or pool party, in my thong, with a glass of wine and I'll invite at least 2 lady friends to chill out with.

Anyone got any ideas for a venue please?

Isn't it awful once the Sun is gone.

We'll be in London this summer for a week, longer than usual.  Hyde Park sounds great for a picnic, like from Harrods Food Court, then catch some rays in the process.  Got to give those tired, tourist feet a rest now and then.  But we'll need to see others in thongs so the wife doesn't give me grief.  Best play it by ear and hope for the best.

Are there quiet spots in Hampstead Heath good for tanning?  Our B&B is in Hampstead Garden City, but I've never noted any thongers while crossing the heath to Golder's Green tube station.  Maybe heading out jogging would be a good way to go, ready to sun in my thong if I come across others soaking it up.  Don't want to offend people or get in trouble, just need to know it's okay.

Hey SlidingG

Hyde Park or Hampstead Heath or come to that, any of the London parks, you will have no problems "resting those tired tourist feet" catching a few rays in a thong. I have tanned in many of the London parks over the years and NEVER had any problems, I've not even had a negative comment to date, the worst was "modest"
I love the London parks, there is always a great selection of people out, and I've found if you keep yourself to yourself in maybe a quiet corner and do not flaunt yourself you get no hassle, as for getting into trouble, as long as everything is covered, London is very conservative and you will be fine. I've worn some pretty small stuff in the last couple of years and NEVER had a problem, I've also seen some pretty small stuff worn by others, and again no problems,  Enjoy your trip, and I hope you get some good weather for it.

Thanks, Paul, encouraging words.  I'm often the only thonger/stringer on the beach -- and I'm okay with that -- so it sounds like I may get to sun my buns on this trip after all.  Where and when, I'll play it by ear, always have a thong on.  May be best when off running thru the Heath -- what the wife doesn't know she can't disapprove of.

Northern Scotland will likely be too cold mid-June for sunning, though I'm apt to pose for a photo on Dunnet Bay Beach near John O'Groats, then go in, just to say I did.  Like in Cornwall once, I'll just 'happen' to have my thong on underneath, so no other option.

Our jaunt thru Ireland with a tour group of old fogies will demand I be on my best behavior.  Little chance to thong then, I'm sure.  But our last five days before heading home is still up for grabs.  More Ireland on our own?  East Anglia?  Dorset?  We need some castles and gardens for her, some beaches for me.  Hmmm . . . a National Trust cottage on the Coastal Path in Cornwall might do the trick, I've had some happy thonging there.  She likes natural scenery, and is patient while I take a swim if we're at a nice beach.

Corfe Castle is a long walk away from the beach in Studland! Fantastic pub for lunch and real ale next to the castle too. Actually it would be too far to walk, but the same bus I mentioned before goes to Corfe and back every half hour. I would take the bus even if you have a hire car, because the bus doesn't have to wait for the ferry and the que gets silly in the summer. Or stay the night in Corfe or nearby.

As a London boy myself it has been a very dipapointing summer weather wise, what time I have spent here in the capital I've seen very few thongs in the London parks which is very disheartening, gone are the views of 10 years ago when thongs were a common site, I can remember going to hyde park back then and if you didn't see at least 30 thong clad guys and girls it was a bad day, when I went this summer I think it was 3!!!!! Certainly in London, times are changing!!!! And not for the better!!!
I'm lucky to have spent quite a bit of time in Ibiza this summer working, and can only say I think all the London thongers must be out there!!!! At only 2 1/2 hours away it's almost worth a weekend trip just for the views!!!

We have had some great weather this week, and i found myself in hyde Park.

Quite a few ladies in bikinis, usually skimpy.  saw one topless girl, making no attempt to cover herself.  Nice small tits, 32B I would say.
A couple of girls were wearing thongs, alos one g string, might even have been a WW, very tiny at the front.
'Star of the day' for me was a girl, mid twenties I would say who was just in skimpy white bra and pants, clearly underwear.  Bra was white, very lacy, did litlle to support or cover her tits, nipples were clearly visible through the lace.  With this she was wearing a matching lacy g string, very lacy, everything was visible through it, completely shaved.  She was clearly comfortable and was making no effort at all to cover herself.  In fact i first came across her in the queue for the ice cream stall, then she walked back across to the grass area to sunbathe.  It was really good to see a girl totally comofortable with her body, clearly knowing that the fine lace of her skimpy underwear (not a bikini) was not covering her, and absolutely everything was on show.

Agree with Kiwi Thonger that the good weather shoud have been this weekend instead of last weekend.  No chance to get a tan this weekend, not even in the garden!! Hyde Park would be full of tourists and people enjoying the Jubilee celebrations. But could have been fun to be seen in public in a gstring or a thong though.  Here's hoping we get some more good weather in the coming weeks.

re: Hyde Park, there is an area where the grass is kept long that's usually quite quiet, that's between Lancaster gate and the road that crosses the Serpentine.
I've been there before and it was pretty quiet (although it was in the morning).
It probably depends when you're going aerodyne - even the area used as sports fields in the afternoon (south of the Serpentine, Knightsbridge side) seems pretty quiet early morning.
I wouldn't be able to get there till about 5 on Friday (and only then for a quick visit) but can pop by to say hello if you're interested.

An endearing and perhaps encouraging moment last weekend when we visited this park in a well-to-do part of the city - hardly thong country, I might add.
Lying at a discreet distance from the few scattered sunbathers was an attractive thirtysomething middle-class lady with neat, short blonde hair, looking somewhat "out of her comfort zone" in a black bikini with what we on TWMB might call a "conservative thong" bottom (how I love that term). She was on her back, reading a newspaper and clearly getting to the stage where it would be comfortable to turn over, but unable to pluck up the courage. I've been there in the early days - as perhaps have many members of this board - and I know exactly what it feels like.
Anyway, rude to stare, so we went off and fed the ducks, had coffee, soothed our toddler's grazed knees and generally enjoyed the morning. On the way back to the car, though, I noticed she was still there, shifting around in discomfort, not quite at the "oh, to hell with it, I'm turning over" point. We left without witnessing the resolution. I hope she worked up the courage and flipped. I bet she did, as in my experience the urge to show one's buns to the sun is all-conquering, and the buzz of that first flip kind of unforgettable.
