Any reports on this summer's thonging at Sandy Point? I haven't had much opportunity to get out there this summer, but did go a couple times and saw no other thongers. I'd like to hear of others' experiences.

Anybody have any experience with see-thru thongs at Sand Point, either mesh or fishnet?  I'm going to push the envelope this summer - but not too far - with a fairly modest, but see-thru fishnet from Body Aware.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

I think you just need to use a little common sense. Some parts of the beach are heavily populated with school and camp children. I wouldn't go parading around. There are times you could go nude, due to the lack of people on the northern most beach, but I have heard the rangers use binoculars to police the area. I'm not sure how people on the main beach would handle a see-thru. Just remember Sandy Point is only thong tolerant, as long as you're not breaking any indecency laws. displaying the jewels is considered indecent in Maryland.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

Thanks, S_G.  I stay on the northern part, try to avoid crowded areas and so far have never had a problem.  Children are to be avoided especially and I don't parade around.  Interesting about the binoculars - easier and less intrusive than driving around.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

But they still do drive around. Everyone gets along ok there. Never personally had any probs, but did witness a verbal altercation with a thonger and a group of camp kids. He just picked up his phone and the rangers handled it from there...See this summer

I plan on wearing a few mesh-type suits this Summer too.  East beach starts out real sparse with people until around 11-12 so I usually wear suits that take the most bravery before too many arrive.  I used North beach just a couple times towards the end of last summer and found it sparse enough to lay out nude.

The warnings about binoculars are true.  I was nude on east beach, keeping an eye out, but before I could react, a lifeguard on a 4-wheeler drove right up to me and told me to put my suit back on.  He was flying around the corner of the beach at full speed, obvious to me that he already knew I was nude.  Damn, those binoculars and radios!!  He was stern, but I didn't get into any real trouble.

Weather will be perfect for the next few days.  Hope to see other thongers or nudist there too.

I think you were lucky, considering what could have happened.  Tomorrow and Friday look good, weatherwise.  Hope to make it out to SPSP, providing that the wind is off the bay (from the East), to keep the flies away.  Maybe too early in the season for flies, who knows?

As I mention on my post to the contacts thread on SPSP, I also have worn see-thru thongs there, but try to be careful not to alienate anybody, particularly a ranger. I'd hate to spoil the "thongs are acceptable" rule by abusing the privilege and spoiling things for other thongers.

Today was perfect at Sandy Point!  Breezy and not too hot.  I laid out in a few of my favorite thongs from HEswimwear.  North beach was quiet enough for me to take the thong off and tan nude for a couple 30-minute periods.  I pulled on a thong when someone would walk past.  Last Summer I wore a blue Pocket Thong every time for a very well-defined tan which is still visible.  This year I intend to get rid of the lines for an all-over tan so I look good in any thong I wear.  I really love walking around in a thong, but nothing compares to the feel of the sun on every inch of my bod.

I didn't see any other thongers today.  Sunday seems to be a slow day for thongers anyway, but if they're looking for a little more privacy or space on the beach, I find Sunday is best.

 Hi,
I am visiting Annapolis in June and I'm looking for thongable beaches in that area. I don't know that area at all, so I would be grateful for precise directions to the beaches at SPSP where skimpy swimwear is tolerated. Are there any other beaches at reasonable driving distance (<70mi) where thongers are tolerated.
Thanks for the help

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

Date Posted:05/13/2010 04:54:47Copy HTML

There are basically two beaches at Sandy Point: South Beach and East Beach.  Most people go to South Beach, which is directly ahead when you drive in and where the big parking lots are.  This beach faces the Bay Bridge.  Most thongers, though, use East Beach, which is much less crowded.  To get there, drive to and park by South Beach.  Walk out to near the beach, then turn left.  Follow for a few minutes until you reach the squared-off point of land, then turn left and follow this stretch of beach northward until you pass the long stone jetty where the fishermen usually hang out.  This is East Beach.  There is car access to East Beach, but it is only available to those who rent a pavilion in that area.  Most thongers hang out just north of the jetty.  Total walk time is less than 10 minutes.

If you go to Sandy Point on a Saturday morning, there will be heavy traffic heading across the Bay Bridge. To avoid this traffic, exit Route 50 a few miles early at Cape St. Claire Rd.  Cross the bridge to the north side of 50, then turn right on East College Parkway.  This road parallels 50, but with no traffic, and it ends right at the park entrance.

I stopped at Sandy Point for the first time today, to see what it was like. I was in Salisbury and I stopped on my way back around 4 o'clock. I went straight to the end parking area and walk straight out to the beach by the volleyball nets. What a great view of the Bay Bridge, really nice. I walked up the beach to the left and past some families that were fishing and swimming. I kept going I guess to the jetty you were writing about and there were some fisherman out at the end. Then the beach openned up to the pavillion area but there is a sign that says private area or restricted area? and there wasn't anyone on that beach. Is this the one you are writing about? I didn't end up there but I did lay out before the jetty but I arrived kind of late.

Bunnyboy:

If you don't mind stretching your 70 miles just a bit, the beaches of Ocean City are great.  (Disclaimer:  I am partial to ocean beaches because I like waves and surf, so maybe this isn't your cup of tea.  I also think the ocean is way cleaner than the bay, and the sand is much nicer.)  It is 100 miles from the Bay Bridge (take Rt. 50 to its end), so a bit more from Annapolis, but it would not be an unreasonable day trip.  Weekend summer traffic will be bad, so either go on a weekday, or leave very early (but June may be somewhat pre-season, depending on when).  There are other threads here on Ocean City, but briefly, the beaches are thong tolerant, so you should be fine.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

Date Posted:05/19/2010 12:14:42Copy HTML

To Thongjockey:  yes, you found the right place.  The "restricted" sign simply means that the pavilions in that area are only available to those who have paid rental fees.  The road that goes to this area (which is a left turn off of the main road halfway through the park) comes with its own check-in booth so they can limit parking at East Beach to those who have rented a pavilion.  But the beach itself is open to anyone who walks over there.  In fact, most people who rent the beachside pavilions don't actually bother going on to the sand, which makes East Beach even easier for us to use.

Laid out  for a couple of hours today at Sandy Point.  Temps were in the low 80's, few clouds, winds from the east (off the bay), so no flies, uncrowded conditions, and no entry fee (go figure?).  Set up on the area to the left of the parking but before the jetty.  Saw several patrols, including one staffed by females, and had no problems with unwanted attention.  Tried out my new Body Aware fishnet g-string (see profile photos).

dj, I usually go to what is called the East beach. (not sure why, it is the northern most beach there. It may be because it faces more Easterly than anything?)

I usually bring a chair, couple of towels and bug repellant just in case. There are showers in two locations. Fair warning!!! watch your speed on the main road after you pay to get in. It is patrolled. I think it is $4.00 for Md and $5.00 for out of state folks. May just see you there.

I was there on the 5th, hung out on east beach in a g string. Two young ladies sat directly in front of me. We chatted a bit and everything was good until the ignorant inner city camp kids walked toward the jetty of East beach. I know there have been issues in the past but I have never experienced them. I can't wait until school starts back! There were not many people there at all. It was cloudy with some peeks of sun but all in all it was good outing. I do not let people discourage me but I have a short fuse so I left when the ignorance arrived. The young ladies stayed.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

Date Posted:08/11/2010 11:00:20Copy HTML

Interesting day at Sandy Point - Showed up at around 1230 and quickly saw an older lady in a very nice G-string on the main beach.  So I setup about 15 feet away thinking strength and numbers (plus better scenery).  Well, laid out that way for about an hour - and got thirsty.  So I walked the 100 or so ft to the water fountain in my JS Rio thong.  Did this twice, got several looks as expected.  After that, I decided to head down to the bridge area where it's less crowded (only a small handful of fishers) and waded out into the water up to the bottom of my butt - just stood there and relaxed for about 15 minutes with the fully packed bridge behind me.  Went back to my towel and, unfortunately, the G-string lady was gone.  This is when stupid stuff started happening - I continued to lay out and it wasn't 5 more minutes when a very overweight lady in a bathing suit she shouldn't have been wearing came over and politely asked me to cover my "backside" because she had a 13 year old daughter.  Since she was nice about it, I obliged and put my shorts on - thinking I would probably move anyway now that the G-string lady was gone.  Well, about 5 minutes after that, a pickup truck labeled "park security" drove up and two gentlemen got out.  One of them approached me and told me they had received "complaints" about my thong.  He said they were perfectly legal and I was in my right to wear them, and that a lot of men do.  But he said there's a lot of beach and most men usually go to more obscure areas.  I told them it was alright, that I was going to be leaving soon, and that I'm not anything to worry about.  He said "Ok" and left.  I packed up, and walked to east beach.  On east beach there was almost no-one.  There was a gentleman on an inflatable raft it what looked to be a skimpy suit of some sort (String_guy?).  Anyway, there were two ladies, one of which was in a rather conservative red thong bikini.  They looked to be having fun taking pictures - so I just stood at the shore line for about 10-15 minutes in my JS Rio thong, enjoyed the sun, relaxed (meditated a little) and took in the nice view.  They didn't say anything to me - so I dunno if the approved of my suit...but I liked the one girls thong.

Long story short - East beach ok, main beach not fully (unless there's women in thongs already there).  Of course, the main beach might be more agreeable if I had covered up going to/from the fountain and all...next time I'll do that and see if there are still complaints.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

Date Posted:08/12/2010 12:29:20Copy HTML

When I go to a place like that wearing a thong, I make it a point to get there early and stay close to the ramp, walkway, etc. near the parking.  That approach allows the people likely to complain to see before they've set up, and hopefully they walk in another direction or just leave the area completely.  That's the good thing about east coast beaches -- they are big, flat, open places where you can see who're approaching well ahead of time.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

Maybe the fat lady thinks you moved on because she complained, ado so she thinks she won.  Next time, after the rangers tell you a thong is ok, walk over to the fat lady and tell her the ranger says I am fine, have a good day.

After that the daughter will probably put an end to any future complaints, telling her mother not to make a scene.  Parents embarrass teenagers far more than a strange man in a tong would.

Under MD law, a guy only has to cover his penis and balls.  99% of the public doesn't know this. The "park security" guys are only trying to make their own lives easier.  Sandy Point has a reputation for people who are too poor to go to Ocean City (red necks), that is why I like my backyard pool.

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

Date Posted:08/12/2010 03:22:10Copy HTML

cyberluc waling around in a thong may have been a tactical error.  Laying out is fine, flaunting is not.

You obliged her by putting on shorts.  Wrong response.  If you were there first, she and her daughter should move on.  If not, and you are legal, tell her politely to take a long hike on a short pier.  A little pushback would have been in order here.

From your narrative, it's hard to tell what park security wanted, i.e., they are legal, why should you move?  They were kind of self-contradicting.  They of course will protect the identity of the complainer.  Be careful that you don't commit the Post Hoc Fallacy: because one thing follows another, then the one thing caused the other.  Maybe the fat lady just complained to you, not the rangers and their complaint came from elsewhere.  You just never know.

Too bad a bunch of assholes spoiled your day, given that you did nothing illegal.  Still there are taboos about bare male buttocks that do not apply to the bare female buttocks, and discretion is still the order of the day.

Cyberluc, I hope this does not discourage you from using Sandy Pt. It is much closer than the 2 1/2 hour drive to OC and not all of us have a pool. Unfortunately it was not me on the raft. I seldom go in the water, especially now with the many bacteria warnings about. I mostly stay on East beach and sometimes in the pine tree line near the backstops by the bridge. I have never been approached by the rangers or other beach goers and asked to cover up. I also believe that each situation is different. I am not sure how I would have handled your experience. Though I agree with the other gentlemen oin this thread, covering up means she won. I may stand my ground on this issue and not let one of the many rednecks flex any fat. Your comfort level is also at play, a strange place or strange circumstances may have effected your confidence enough to not put up a fight. We need to stick together for the future of thonging at Sandy Pt. Don't let them push us around! We have the right to be there too!

What a beautiful day on Sandy Pt. today. Spent some time on the East beach until the cell phone ruined it for me. Someone remind not to answer a call from work while on the beach! Encountered two other thongers, neither were very social. East beach was deserted other then us three men. I wish more people with simalar interests would use that side of Sandy Pt. Now that summer is over for the camp kids it seems to be much quieter and private over there. I will be there very early tomorrow around 7 or so. Hopefully Earl doesn't get in the way!

Another beautiful morning on Sandy Pt beaches. Was there for about 2 1/2 hours today. Got a very early start. Visited East Beach for a little while then went to South beach past the back stops. An interesting story..... As my confidence builds so also does my nerve, I have made it a habit to walk to and from the car in a 1" side "speedo" type of suit. Today I felt a little more adventurous and thought I would walk to the car wearing my Koala Shaved Fury, tie side, drop pouch. I was approached by a man asking me if that was legal here. He was wearing dork shorts. I think he may have been sunning in the nude, concealed by the arms of his chair. Not positive. I was taken a little off guard. I then explained to him what I know of the exposure laws of Maryland. That I have seen topless women before and it is legal. Hopefully I have unleashed a new thonger on Sandy Pt.

Went to Sandy Point yesterday, 9/20, was there from 3:00 thru 4:30 or so.  The weather was nice with a light breeze.  I was the only one i could find in a thong.  This was my first time there, went to the East beach that I've heard mentioned here, but there were signs saying it was closed and there was no one on it.  Walked down to the beach near the softball fields and the Bay Bridge and shed my clothes there, i was hoping to see more folks in a thong, planning to try again on Friday and possibly Assateague on Saturday if the weather works out.

I did make it over to sandy point for a couple of delightful hours of thonging. Weather was perfect, all sun, light breeze off the bay, temp about 90.

I did see some new no swimming signs (figure of swimmer, with line crossed through) that I hadn't noticed before, but they seemed to demarcate no swimming areas. When I inquired at park hdq they said those signs were only to preserve certain areas for fishing.

The beach is wide open for thonging. I saw only one other thonger on the beach today. I had the place (East Beach) virtually to myself.

By the way, if you, like me, are age-eligible for the State golden age pass (free entry), you can get in for free during periods when the gate is monitored by a human. In the off-season (now) you can still get in for free, but  you need to stop at park hdq and get a single use permit (free) which can be inserted in the gate money slot and will open the gate.

Went back to Sandy Point late this afternoon, spent some time again on the beach by the backstops as it was pretty much vacant; couldn't find anyone on the main beach in a thong.  Later went for a run around the park and saw one guy, in a very minimal bikini but not a thong, on the East beach so after my run i decided to strip back down to my thong and cool off in the water for a while at the East beach.  Can't wait for Friday as I plan to be back that afternoon.

Today was a spectacular day in the DC area so I managed to get out to Sandy Point for a couple of hours. Spent the first hour in a turquoise Joe Snyder thong, then switched to a more 'expandable' Muscleskins 1/2" poser thong for the rest of the time.

I was on East Beach the whole time. I laid on the grassy area since the sand was covered in flies. There were a number of fully clothed passersby who went about their business without bothering me. I didn't see any other thongers while I was there.

NoVA, That's great that you got out there. I wish I could've gone for one last bask in the sun. Most of the locals who go are aware of the breezes and take repelant. I have laid in the grass before with no problems. Where you further north near the tree? The flies were terrible last time I went. I couldn't stay because I ran out of OFF. They get real bad on calm days. I think I'm done for the season, any days warm enough will be spent on the deck at home. Oh well, another summer gone. It must be quite a hike from No. VA..... I'm spoiled, only a 20 min ride for me.... Take care

Re:Maryland - Sandy Point

The sand at East Beach is very good. by almost any beach standards.  Don't be discouraged by the sand at South Beach, which is gritty with small pebbles.  It is a miracle that nearly everyone who goes to Sandy Point ends up at South Beach (it's bigger, and that's where the road ends), leaving us thongers, a few pavilion-renters and very few others to enjoy East Beach to ourselves.  I guess most people would rather plant themselves close to their cars than walk for 5 or 6 minutes to get to better sand.

To get to East Beach without having to rent a pavilion, drive to the big South Beach parking lots, then turn left at the beach edge, follow it to the point, then turn left again and continue until you reach the long jetty (the second of two jetties), where there are usually fishermen positioned out on the far end.  East Beach begins here, though you could equally use the beach on either side of the jetty.

It's always packed during Memorial Day Weekend so I usually avoid that weekend.  I've been out a few times already; though it's sometimes cool, the sun still works on my skin.  Really prefer laying out near the bridge so I can take my thong off and TAN IT ALL.  I even dozed off a couple times while people must have passed me.  Nothing said.  I love how laid back Sandy Point is.  But, it's really great to be able to walk around in a thong or G-string without getting hassled.

Maybe I'll head out anyway...
