Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:04/29/2018 01:43:28Copy HTML Since nudity is permitted at Little Beach, thongs are of course ok also. Being at a clothes free area is about acceptance no matter who you are or what you look like. It's the only place on Maui that's well known to take it all off without risking a citation.

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:08/30/2018 06:59:38Copy HTML I also can say when we were there we both went nude and wore our g-strings back to the car when we left the first day and the second day my wife just wore a sheer pattern sarong to and from the car her only issue was climbing over the rocks in a sarong didn’t really cover anything but anyone climbing the rocks were going to Little Beach anyway.

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:08/31/2018 01:06:06Copy HTML Big Island, Maui, Oahu, and Kauai are all extraordinarily thong-tolerant— and they have been for years. Away from the tourist beaches, thongs and cheeky bottoms are pretty much standard attire for locals. They are accepted everywhere. The only thing is that this only really applies for women. For men, yeah, it's gonna be long board shorts. :/

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:11/27/2018 12:42:14Copy HTML Thongalastic, you’re correct about thong tolerance away from tourists locations but even some tourists spots are thong friendly but living there we got to know lots of locals and after they knew us they never gave us a problem wearing even some of our most revealing stuff and even would warn us of cops when we were nude. Actually being nude was probably more acceptable to them

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:03/11/2019 02:16:24Copy HTML My wife and I were in Maui in Dec. We visited both sides of the island (Hana and all along the West side) and thonged at various beaches for the trip. We wore thongs to nearly every beach we visited and did snorkeleing and sunbathing in thongs nearly everyday. We saw plenty of other women in thongs but other than myself no other men other than a few speedos. Locals nor tourists bothered us. This was our 2nd trip to Maui and in both cases we had no issues wearing thongs.

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:11/20/2020 06:40:42Copy HTML My girlfriend and I just got back from Mauii and they were very thong friendly. For nine days I wore a thong to the pool, walked around freely went to my room on the second floor in a thong with no cover up.
Each day we walked the beach. Some days we both wore thongs, others just I wore one. We met so many people and never once had a rude remark. I did get several compliments and lots of smiles from the ladies. We snorkeled at several beaches around the island and were always treated very nicely by the locals. One day we went out on redline rafting snorkel trip which I highly recommend. I spent the whole trip in a thong. Live your best life. If thonging makes you happy be confident and friendly, then people will easily accept you. |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:07/15/2022 04:35:53Copy HTML Little Beach is no longer a nude beach. Unfortunately some people thought that because they were nude they could also engage in sexual acts. As a result Little Beach is no longer the worlds premier nude beach. When nudity is possible, please don't engage in sexual acts or make advances suggesting hookups to others. The beach is not a gay bathhouse and it makes other people uncomfortable. This is also true for thong friendly beaches. Please don't assume people in thongs are open to advances, don't flash your junk, don't use Viagra or constricting rings under your thong to gain an erection for peacocking around. The story of how the traditional acceptance of nudity at Little Beach on Hawaii came to an end is here >> |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:07/16/2022 12:51:07Copy HTML Thank you for posting the article on the closure of Little Beach jm_runs. I am so sad to hear that they are enforcing nudity violations. Little Beach was a very special place. I have spent many days there over the years. One of the most friendly and casual beaches I have ever visited. This is what happens when people push the limits and act inappropriately.

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:07/16/2022 12:55:20Copy HTML That beach was on Karen's radar for years now--- in 2020 people were not wearing masks and big gatherings were deemed a health hazard to others. They had raves and drum circles that tic'd off a lot of people ! Like a lot of things the pendulum of freedom can swing too far! |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:07/17/2022 11:29:25Copy HTML I went to Little Beach with the GF way back in 2013. I went nude while she went topless and it was a blast. While there was lots of nudity I saw no sexual behavior or acts. Just a few pot smokers and even then they tried to be discreet about it. I also noticed that some locals acted as unofficial beach keepers, warning people about dangerous tides and currents. That's why I'm surprised to hear about openly obscene activity. I wonder if that's just a convenient excuse to clamp down on the nudity and noise. |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:07/29/2022 04:32:23Copy HTML Little Beach is still open they just cracked down on the "Sunday Drum Circles." It's partially due to Hawaii's overly strict COVID policies and lots of "cruising." A lot of people forget that Hawaii does NOT allow public nudity. Women can tan topless on any public beach but full exposure of genitalia is technically against the law. Little Beach, often known as one of the best nude beaches in the world, is not a "nude beach." They just tolerate it. It's not a Gunnison, Haulover, Blacks Beach, etc.
We spoke to locals while we were there. The police will often show up on Little Beach and Paia Secret Beach and just make sure everyone is behaving. If they aren't, they start asking people to put their suits on. It has to be pretty extreme to get ticketed. If you read my report in this sub forum, my wife and I tanned nude on Paia Secret Beach no problem. It was mostly nude, more our age (30's-40's), but just like Little Beach, there were normal tourists who were clothed who also went. My wife even swam nude in one of the waterfalls, in front of normal tourists, and there was no issue.
We didn't go to Little Beach for several reasons: 1) We wanted a more heterosexual crowd (no judgement on people's lifestyles) 2) We wanted a more mixed crowd, LB can be mostly male 3) it was rumored to still be closed due to COVID.
If you read my report, Paia Secret Beach in my opinion, is a much better experience. |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:08/13/2023 07:15:32Copy HTML I just returned today from Maui, original return date was, 8.9, found a flight on 8.12, cost $1100 each. Front street is completely gone in Lahania. Ka napali no electricity, the hotels and timeshares are housing residents. Unless you stay in Kihei or east side around Paia. Me, along with my partner, spent two nights sleeping in a rental car. Not a hotel to be found.

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:08/14/2023 01:47:14Copy HTML Kanapaali looks to be in good shape, I respect the decision not to go BUT… the island and people live on tourism and need your business as long as they are not using all of the hotels as shelters. You could also volunteer a bit of your time there, just a suggestion.

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:08/18/2023 06:13:59Copy HTML When taking aid, find out what is needed and take ONE or TWO types of aid. Mixed aid needs sorting before distribution.
When taking personal luggage think of something that packs a lot of aid into a small space.
Clothing or paper towels are a poor choice.
Worse, clothing needs to be sorted, washed and fitted to the right size person. Also it is hot there, so they don't need your old winter cloths.
Things much apricated:
- Multi-port charging stations for evacuation centers so people can charge their devices.
- Portable USB battery charging packs, for individuals returning to zones where the electric has not yet been resorted.
- Plastic sheet holders so people can keep their relief paperwork together.
- Funds, cash for relief centers so they can purchase what they need locally.
Take directly to an aid center.
- Unless the entire island is wiped out don't assume they don't have stuff in local stores and warehouses. Stuff they could get if you just gave them the funds. They know best what they need next.
- If you want to give something tangible, like liquid soap or face masks buy locally after landing. Help the local economy.
- Give a lot of ONE thing, not a mixture of items. Don't make more work for locals by mixing stuff up that then needs to be sorted.
- Don't take books. Tourists buy books to read on vacation and leave them behind. Tourist destinations are awash with books.
- Tip Well. That goes right back into the local economy.
- The only exception to the no-cloths rule is sneakers. If you leave behind a couple of pairs of good clean sneakers in new, or near new condition someone will wear them. When evacuating they probably lost all but the shoes they were wearing. Locals will be giving spare cloths and housing but useful universal shoes are rare donations.
Returning to, and walking through burnt ground turns shoes black. So if you take a couple of pairs of sneakers or light weight hiking boots on vacation, it does no harm to leave a pair or two behind, at an aid center. (Write the shoe size on the bottom in felt pen.) |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:08/24/2023 06:57:47Copy HTML Here's a plea for visitors from Brian Schatz, who's one of two US senators from Hawaii:
"Maui update. South Maui resorts (Lahaina is West Maui) NEED visitors. Furloughs and layoffs starting because people think the whole island is closed. It is not. If you are planning a trip to Wailea or Kihei, don’t cancel. If you want to come to Hawaii pls consider South Maui." |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:09/10/2023 10:43:42Copy HTML I’m glad you decided to go GuestGuest! People on the mainland seem to believe that the whole island was destroyed but most of south Maui is intact. Unfortunately because of the assumption a lot of people who work the resorts are being furloughed due to severe drop in tourists. |

Re:Maui Hawaii Date Posted:02/26/2024 01:46:58Copy HTML Nice.... When I went I didn't bother with little beach.....I looked at it but felt big beach was more inviting and I did post up near the walkway to little beach.... I noticed 95% of people going to little beach were creepy old gay dudes so my lady and I chilled at big beach. |
