Randy made this observation the other day at Cowan lake, but said it was a general observation which worked most places.  There were probably 15 young women in cheeky swimsuits, and he pointed out that they took time to adjust their swimwear two different ways.  First, some women did the traditional downward tugs on the material covering their buns.  This is the motion that most of us women have been taught to use when traditional bikini or even one-piece swimwear bottoms ride up the buttocks.  The other motion is the pull the swimwear up into the ass crack. Thonging women have done this as needed to insure their buns were fully exposed.

Now with the cheeky look, you can tell which way the lady wants to go, even if her suit of friends with her will not let her go all the way into the thong look.  When a lady takes her cover-up shorts off, and maybe a few other times while at the beach, she will use one or the other move.  A pull down means that her suit is near or at the coverage she wants, and she won't be showing any more ass.  A pull up will indicate that she really wants to be in a thong, or at least show off more, if not most of her behind.   We watch about a half dozen women tug on their cheeky bottoms, and his observations seemed to be true.  We also noticed an almost envy in some of the women when Randy or I would go past them or engage them in a conversation, since we were already undressed as far as we would go before they came.  At least two of these women were easy to talk into tucking their cheeky bottoms into their ass crack even more to produce a more thong like, or even a true thong like look.  One lady went back to her car after doing this and came back much to her boyfriend's delight in a high-waisted true thong.  It doesn't seem to matter how many women are wearing true thongs -- men just love to see them on women.  Women are getting more vocal about liking men who wear thongs too.

Saw this today.  There were three women.  One kept her short and T-shirt on.  The other two had very similar "cheeky" swimwear.  One pulletd up on the waste band of the bottom, creating almost a thong.  The other pulled down, maintaining the cheeky look  In some ways, we seem to be living in more and more exciting times -- times when cheeky swimsuits and thongs may become more common place.

I think with the high waisted style of clothing you'll see more pulling up so the waist band is above the hips than you would have in the past. Also I think you'll see it more frequently being done with women with wider hips who find having the waist band high more comfortable and more flattering.

Oh yeah- there are three types  1.  Constantly pulling apart/ out of the crack for more coverage  2.  Letting "crack happen"  3. Pulling up and in- we call it "imping" for improvising a full thong!  Saw something interesting this weekend when I had to go to a conservative LI family beach.  There was a mom and dad and a 5 year old daughter.   The parents had 2 beach chairs set up next to one another and the girl was playing in the sand around them.  The mom was wearing a cheeky.  She gets up grabs a towel and walks maybe 20 feet away down the beach, spreads it then lays on her stomach and imps---was she "hiding from her daughter?  at request of the husband?

"She gets up grabs a towel and walks maybe 20 feet away ...."

Don't read too much into this, Sailor. Most of us who've had children realise that five year olds aren't that careful when it comes to controlling where the sand they're playing with goes. Mum probably just wanted a little bit of peace and quite while sunning.

Wife is now is only wearing thongs to beaches and pools for about 2 years now  although she is comfortable wearing them in any situation she still has the instinct to pull down on the sides for no reason. She doesn't even know she's doing it - I point it out to her that she's doing it.  Her thongs are all high cut and meant to be over the hip bone - she knows this but its hard to undo years of her instinct to pull down.

CATS89 -- It may be partly instinct, and an older woman (one with a child) probably is more likely to hide things as part of years of doing it over and over (repetition).  But in many cases, the original issue is not instinct but training.  I was in the 4-H and Girl Scouts, and both places we did some swimming.  We were told over and over again to cover up.  It was like every time we stepped out of the water, we were expected to check our coverage by adjusting our suits, even if there was no real coverage issues.  My folks didn't care about coverage, but many of my friends parents were.  At the camps, I pulled for coverage (to keep the counselors happy) everywhere else I didn't bother, or only did something if things were way out of control and I felt things were not right.  The friends who pulled every time they moved continued to do this for years.  Some still do.

SAILOR -- as far as the lady laying 20 feet away, I don't think this is a really big deal.  I rarely sit right next to the chairs for several reasons.  First, the sand up close to the chairs is often messed up from being walked on a lot and will stick more quickly.  Some beaches have hard sand, and here people might seek out a place that is softer.  Of course there might be shells, rocks, bird poop or other things that make a person not want to set up in a specific spot.  I also have had issues with shadows.  Close to the chairs, you can get shadows from the chairs, from people getting in and out of the chairs, etc.  A few feet away, there are no shadows messing up a tan from the chairs or the people in them.

Third, if you want to get some rest and maybe even sleep, then radios, conversations, and even other noises from the people in the chairs might bother you and being a bit further from the chairs will make things a bit quieter.

There also is the line of site of the person who moved.  Maybe they want to watch a specific person or boat or something, and will get a better view from a slightly different position.  In my case, I might move to give some cute guy a better view of me.

Having raised two sons, I think Grabeach has It right. The mom just wanted some “me” time.  It was a a signal to dad that it was his turn to be on kid duty.

Yeah wife loves wearing high waisted  thongs now - we actually tossed every suit that wasn't a full thong - I'm proud of her. Doesn't matter the location or company - she's in a thong now. Just have to get her to break habit of pulling sides down a bit- she doesn't mind it being way between her cheeks but she has bad habit of pulling side straps down a bit. We'll get there:)
