The ice has been broken at Scarborough Beach, Maine, the next significant beach up the coast from Old Orchard, and a short drive north of Ogunquit.

Weather permitting, I have been on the beach virtually all day, every day, for the last week, wearing either a thong or a g-string, sitting around with family in our usual spot, swimming, and walking the length of the beach at least once a day.  As far as I know, this is a first for Scarborough Beach, and as far as I can tell, there is no problem whatsoever.

Neighbors have taken it in stride; if anything, they seem chattier than usual, and more apt to pull up a beach-chair and sit down for a spell.

Scarborough Beach is privately owned, except for a state park near the southern end.  The state park provides parking, lifeguard protection, and a small concession stand.  Visitors are free to set up wherever they like within the state park, and are welcome to walk the entire beach—a mile-and-a-half of uninterrupted sand.

Maine public-nudity law reads like a recipe for thongs:  as long as the organs of reproduction are covered, everything else is a style-decision. Consequently, I have worn Skinz M14, M1R, and M1R2 several times each, and I have an M55 on order, so I’m going about as skimpy as it comes without losing the straps, but always in fabrics that are completely opaque.  Anything that smacks of display would probably run afoul of the second part of the law, which forbids “knowingly expos[ing the] genitals under circumstances that in fact are likely to cause affront or alarm;” this would be the case especially in the state park, which naturally attracts many families with children and groups of adolescents.

Admittedly, there have been a few flutters of adolescent giggling and elbowing, and two unsettling incidents where adults sent children to check me out (I think the guy in the g-string holds the moral high-road on this one), but on the whole nothing to break stride over.

A lovely time on a lovely beach, and New England live-and-let-live its best.  So precious, I’m almost afraid to talk about it.

I have thonged on that beach several years ago. I found that by traveling to the left of the entrance and heading down to where the surfers hang there is less congestion. I have seen some of the more dedicated female surfers change out of their wetsuits into their smallish bikinis often time exposing all of their very tanned and beautiful bums. I have not been in years and am glad that there is activity. Have a great vacation.

A recent poster in the Old Orchard Beach, in Maine thread said that he was actually on the beach in Scarborough.  Can you determine from his description exactly what part of  the beach he was on in relation to where you were?

I'm just trying to help connect the dots here.  Ogunquit is a long enough drive for me.  I've had no problems wearing a g-string there in past years, as I've reported in the ME / NH / MA coastal thong or nude beaches? thread.

Different beach. The OOB was part of Grand beach. Scarborough beach is further up rte 1. Then down towards prouts neck. Ferry beach is also a good beach. Lots of moms as you enter beach but turn left an walk about five minutes.

I happen to be in Maine this weekend and was planning to hit the beach tomorrow. Now im not sure if I should go to OOB or the subject of this thread! For future reference,  does anyone have any experience with the beaches around Bar Harbor?

Scarborough Maine is fairly quiet. The thong area they are talking about is between OOB and Pine Point. I will be there this summer thonging or in the all new C-String. No side straps.

Can someone please update.... Has a law or local rule been passed that makes wearing a thong or g string in Maine a violation?

Re:Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine

Researching the Town Ordinances in Scarborough Maine, there was this
5. Disorderly conduct prohibited No person shall engage in loud, boisterous, threatening, abusive, insulting or indecent language, or engage in disorderly conduct or behavior constituting a breach of the peace in any Park facility. No man shall expose his genitals or buttocks; or woman, her genitals, buttocks or breasts any time in a Park.

Definition of "Park"

Means an area of land, whether in a natural state or developed, having facilities for rest and/or recreational use or providing open space for leisure activities, and customarily used by the general public for such uses and activities. The term park includes, but is not limited to, playgrounds, school grounds, athletic playing fields, beaches, walkways, trails and parking areas serving such facilities. [Amended 04/20/2011]

It appears that there were no updates to these ordinances since 4/11.  In Old Orchard Beach, the only reference I could find was the obsenity ordinance.  Under the first section entitled "General", it only referenced state law [Indecent conduct, 17-A M.R.S.A. § 851 et seq], which must be an error as that is a solid waste regulaton.  Maine State Law entitled "Indecent Conduct" is here. which mentions only genitals.
http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/statutes/17-a/title17-asec854.html

Getting back to Old Orchard, they do have a another section under the obsenity ordinance referring to exhibitions that do mention buttocks:  "lewd exhibition of the human male or female genitals, pubic area, buttocks or the female breast below the top of the nipple"

Bottom line is probably how the local PD interperts and enforces these laws.  Of course, a complaint to the PD will likely result in at least a warning.  Perhaps board members closer to the area will have additional information.

This is all very good information. I have never personally seen the police on the beach. I imagine that we in Maine are under exposed to thongs on the beach and it is likely that people are less inclined to make a complaint. I imagine that the number of complaints could go up if there were feelings of disrespect. The other thongers I have seen on the beach do so with respect and confidence and attitude that we are enjoying the beach for the recreation of the sun and swimming just like everyone else. We get left alone. If the purpose is to expose yourself, and potentially be interrupted that way through ones actions, well, that might ruin it for the rest of us.

Re:Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine

No I would never want to do anything that could be offending. That is why I am very concerned about a complaint. I want no trouble with anyone or the law enforcement office that patrols that area. It is now getting very close to the summer season. I looked at some Main laws online. It does appear that there have been some updates. It says revised but it appears that because it is so new the revisions have not been posted yet. I wonder if someone in the Scarborough area can make contact with whoever patrols that area and get a clarification. Let me know if that can happen.

Beautiful day at pinepoint today. Set up today right at 9th street entrance. Just had public safety drive by without even stopping. There are a lot of families and single women setting up by me. It is quite a day. There seems to be some general acceptance as I set up by the dune and let them have all of the rest of the beach. Lots of roped off area for the nesting birds. I think that there were some pics taken if me in my camouflage thong from dore. Good day

Great day at pinepoint. A beautiful day with enough wind to keep bugs away. Made my way down the beach and into the water. I heard some comments, but not really bothered by them . I am at my usual spot by the 9 th street pathway. Weather looks promising for another go of it tomorrow.  Happy summer to all.

Another good day at beach. A little quieter as the holiday crowd thinned. I came across the gentlemen that was the originator of the "thong section" a little ways down the beach. I politely asked him if I could pull up in the vacinity to make a new section. It is about 3-5 minutes from the 9th street entrance if you turn left upon entering the beach. Nice day but a little too windy. Sand is blowing everywhere. I took a walk to the shore and had to rinse it all the sand off. The thongbiker suit I am wearing is sufficiently solid when wet. The other guy is wearing a very tiny gstring, it looks like it could be skinz spartan style. Anyway lots of people walking by and talking quietly to selves or nothing at all.

Just pulled into my new spot. A couple of minutes down from entrance on 9th street. Tide is coming in so there is not a lot of beach that I have to cross to get to water. Beach has been raked so sand is nice and soft. Bird ending signs are still up so we are sharing beach with a lot more users on this day a this time. I will report out later if there is any other thong activity.

It is raining today and probably for tomorrow as well. I was able to get out yesterday. Had to travel a little further down the beach as the birds were being tended to by rangers and public safety. They walked right by me after I was finally settled. A family playing bocce was back and forth I front of me. I could here them having fun as they were tempted to throw the little ball closer and closer to me. I decided to walk and take dip in the ocean that is pretty refreshing. They moved on down the beach. I got some nice looks from a mom who was walking her child in a stroller. I was in my pink muscleskins thong that is a little sheer when wet. Overall a great summer tanlines are really developing nicely. My wife loves these results!

I am at the beach right now and what a day. Left work a little early and hit the sand for tanning. Not twenty minutes a group of teens showed up and planted themselves not twenty feet away. Well within ear shot. I heard a lot about my bright pink thong and whatever.

The girls were all in bikinis. The one that made the least talk pointed her toes right at me in the sand as she was tanning. She adjusted her suit to make it smaller in the back side. It was improved when the more obvious comment makers left and she was able to sun on her own.

I saw one other guy. The one who wears a g string. I have developed a business card that has a picture and info about the board. Haven't had an opportunity to promote yet. But thinking about it.

ThongerinME, Sounds like a good day at the beach!  I think it is a sign of approval and interest when a group of girls sets up nearby, after all, if they don't like they could have setup somewhere else.  It is also good when one sees a women, who upon seeing a man in a thong, is encouraged to be more bold and scrunch her bikini into a thong.

While FreeStud may feel timid and need to be ignored, I rather like the conversations resulting from my wearing a thong. Some in a group may not like it but often others tell them they do, or to just grow up.

Telling others about the board is always a good thing, but managing to tell strangers without coming across creepy or like you are hitting on them is difficult, so your idea of a card you can give them is excellent.

Essentially it is old orchard. It is just the Scarborough end which actually become pine point. I usually park on street by ninth street. None of the side streets leading to beach allow parking. If you get there by 10 am there is typically parking that is free all day. I am here 1-2 times a week. Weekends are hardly worth the trip.

Was at Scarborough Beach today.  Great Day.  Walked out on Eleventh Street, then walked down a bit towards some condos.  I had on my navy blue wetlook Thongbiker XD thong.  It's really small and shows a great bulge.  A small group of young ladies couldn't stop looking in my direction.  I made sure that if it was me, they got a great view of my tanned body.  Another group of woman from the condos came out and sat on a bench not far from me.  I heard some approving banter.  When I got up to leave I walked closer to them so they could take a nice close look at the tiny suit suit I had on and how completely full the pouch on my suit is, especially with my cockring.  I heard one of the ladies say,  "OMG, he's totally smooth and think he's wearing a cockring.  So, I'd say it was a good day, no issues.  I guess technically the part of  beach I was on is close to the Old Orchard line.

I think that this thread should be retitled as "Pine Point, Scarborough Maine" most of the messages are about this beach and not the actual Scarborough beach further up the coast. Pine point is a beach in Scarborough that connects to old orchard beach. All the descriptions of entering and where to go are for Pine Point.

Re:Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine

My wife and I took an overnight trip to the Holiday House Inn earlier in the week.  It's at a great location right on the beach just north of Old Orchard Beach.  On the first day I wore a black Skinz M1R2 g-string swimsuit and on the second day a black US34 teardrop tricot matte g-string swimsuit from US4Men.  I posted a few pictures in the US4Men G-Strings album in my Images section.

I set up on the beach in front of the hotel and took long walks each day.  I went as far south as the pier on Old Orchard Beach and as far north as the Nonesuch River.  The walk south was almost two miles, and the walk north a little over a mile.

Most of the people on the beach were older and wearing conservative swimsuits, but there were people in thongs and g-strings as well as a few topless women.  All of the interesting swimsuits were on people from the hotel area northward.  Each day there was a man by himself in a g-string just north of the hotel and a young woman by herself in a thong bikini just south.

Additionally, each day there were two or three single women sunbathing in thong bikinis or g-string bikinis further up the beach towards the condos.  The topless women were in the same general area.  One was in a group of three women, one was by herself, and one was with another woman. The women's bikini bottoms were moderately cheeky.

In the condo area I elicited a wolf whistle apparently from a group of four women who waited until a had walked past them a bit before expressing their feelings.  On Old Orchard Beach when I stopped by the pier to take pictures with the ferris wheel in the background, a couple of women unabashedly took pictures of me.  Otherwise, people seemed to mind their own business.

What previous posters have said is true: the Pine Point beach area in Scarborough provides a comfortable environment for men and women to wear thong or g-string swimsuits and for women to sunbathe topless.

She must have been in her twenties. Nice little pink gstring. I thought I might try to introduce the board with the card I developed. We will see if it makes sense and doesn't weird her out. Would be nice to have a contact on the beach that is a female.*************** update!!!! I gave her the card and told her about the board. May be she will check us out.

Went to the beach on Thursday and what a day. Beautiful spring weather this weekend and weekend. I was made a tour of the beach before settling in my normal spot by the 11th street entrance. There were a couple of the regulars, including the gstring guy, and a group of girls that I wish would just get it over and buy thongs. All the fabric up there but when they pull them in to sun there buns has got to be uncomfortable. Took a couple of walks and eventually moved a little further down when some board shorts blocked my view of the ladies. Saw one other guy in a skinny side suit on the way out by 9th street entrance. Looks to be beautiful this weekend. Enjoy Memorial day everyone

It was a beautiful summer-like day on Tuesday.  I set up between 9th and 10th streets.  A little way to the south I saw a guy in a red thong by himself and a guy in a yellow teardrop g-string also by himself.  To the north there were several young women wearing very cheeky bikinis and two in thong bikinis, each with her boyfriend.  I didn't see any women sunbathing topless.

I wore a navy blue g-string with a semi-sheer narrow red pouch.  I walked the beach for 10 minutes in the Old Orchard Beach direction (south) and all the way north to the Nonesuch River.  On one of my walks, I stopped for pictures with a couple of young women in fairly cheeky bikinis.

I didn't hear any comments about my swimsuit, but did notice several women looking intently at me as I walked by.  It was a very pleasant and relaxing day.

Best place to park is on the street. I believe it is grand ave.. The other streets leading to beach are generally no parking or private to cars. In the summer it does fill up fast, usually by 10am. There is some parking on pinepoint rd by the clam bake restaurant. Weekdays are usually easier than weekends. I have seen people wearing thongs in either direction from the 9 th street exit for about 5-10 min walk. It gets a little family forward further down towards  the point. The oob direction(walking to the south) stays sparse for longer stretch. It is why more of have migrated that way upon enter the beach.
