Does anyone know the name of the group of women that are doing martial arts early morning  (530am) at Scarborough Beach? Very intimidating and not friendly at all.

Headed to the beach today for a few hours in the morning before it gets really crowded. The tides are ideal for getting some walking in and checking out the scene. I will give a full report later. Hope to not be the only one out there today.

Great day at the beach at pinepoint today. Was not the only thonger today. Some girls were very close by that were in skimpy string bikinis. Went swimming twice to cool off and got a nice little beach walk in. Weather looks to be good again on Monday, the weekend crowd is too much. Posted some picks to this years album.

Another good day at the beach here at Pine point. I was at my usual spot with the tide rising late morning to early afternoon. A lot of people walking by and seeing me in my pink MS poser. I took a couple of swims in the warm for Maine ocean and had a great time. A couple of families arrived without any issue and we all enjoyed the beach together but separate. Ran into another board member who was with his wife. We talked a little about the scene and then made our ways. Overall a good day. I am going to get waxed tomorrow and expect to have some comments on my well developed tanlines. Excited to get back out after some long awaited grooming.

Got lucky with some parking this morning at pine point beach. The beach was pretty well populated so made my down to the high rise condos where it was empty to start. Gradually lots of folks set near and around me with little care. I can't stay long but the day was nice and sunny. We won't see sun here for a couple of days. Week days are better. Looks like Tuesday will be the next opportunity.

Southern Maine got a weather gift this morning. Skies cleared about 10 am for a great beach day at pine point. It would appear to be the at the height of vacation season. The beach is crowded and it doesn't help that tide is rising. Oh well. I did make my way down towards the condo buildings again to leave some of the crowds. I got a lot of double takes but otherwise people just kept to themselves and walked right by. I believe some photos were taken,  it always seems to be dudes taking the photo.

Third day in a row that I have made it to the beach. A little earlier this time so more sand, but the flies are here. The crowds are starting to build and the tide is coming in. Should be interesting. I had a young French Canadian families set up about 15 yards from me. Could not be bothered by me. Lots of people walking the beach. Except for the flies a great day in a thong. Posted some new pics.

I guess I went to the wrong beach. I was at Scarborough State Park Beach on Friday. I didn't see any other thongers. It was nice. Nobody bothers you, and there is a secluded area where you can change into different thongs. It was a little change up form Ogunquit.

Flies were out in droves yesterday. Drove me away from the beach to get bug spray that barely made a dent. I tried for some relief by swimming, the water is nice but the flies tipped the scale for leaving and returning another day.

With the forecast for southern New England cloudy until mid-afternoon, I headed north where there was bright sunshine all day.  I arrived around 10:30 am, parked on E. Grand Ave near 9th street, and set up on the beach there in a navy blue g-string with a narrow, semi-sheer pouch whose red color gives the illusion of being opaque.  As the morning wore on, the beach filled up.  The people in my immediate vicinity were mostly middle-aged women who seemed to be oblivious to my presence.

I took two long walks north to the jetty at the river - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  I also walked about halfway to the pier at Old Orchard Beach.  I saw several cellphone cameras pointed my way during my walks, exchanged hellos with a few women walking in the opposite direction, and stopped once for a photo session with a couple of women in their late twenties.

The overwhelming majority of beachgoers were middle-aged or older, so there weren't too many cheeky bikinis to be seen.  I saw no thong swimsuits, male or female.  Also, topless is legal on this beach, and I've seen topless women here before, but none on this day.

The air temp was about 85 F and the water was warm but filled with seaweed except for a small area near the jetty.  There was also a lot of seaweed on the beach.  Nowhere near ideal, but not offensive.

I was on the beach all day and never heard any remark that could be construed as negative regarding my swimsuit.  It was a very pleasant day.  My experience demonstrates that you can be very comfortable, physically and psychologically, in the tiniest of g-strings as long as they cover the genitals and are, or appear to be, opaque.

I was here on Saturday for a couple of hours late in day. Had a nice time as summer comes to an end. I think that a photo of  islandguy found its way in to Instagram. Great to see and here from other people wearing thongs on this stretch of sand. Looks pretty good next week. Look forward to hearing about other experiences. Would like to thank Joelpool and islandguy for adding to this great stretch of sand in MAINE.

I have hoping for a day like today. Sadly I think it is the last of the season. Forecast though sunny cools off in the coming weeks. Today however was gorgeous. With it being almost late September, hardly anyone on the beach. I went for a 40 minute walk down towards old orchard and casually walked by people the entire time. I was totally excited about the freedom and carefree attitude. I saw one other thonger. It was the older gentlemen that I often see in the summer. I imagine he was thinking of this as the last hurrah for 2016.

Is any of that on-street parking free near Clambake Restaurant or on Grand Ave ?
I'm going to try and make a trip up this summer with my fat tire bike ,So if you see a guy on the beach in a thong and a FTB it might be me !

Yes, all of the parking on the street by the clambake restaurant and on the right side going towards OOB is free. It usually fills up before 10 in the morning on weekdays and earlier on weekends. The bike will be quite a show. Have fun.

Short windows wntoday with the threat of storms all afternoon. I was able to catch some rays on a beach that is going to become jam packed this weekend. I am getting more and more comfortable with my body and not concerned with opinions or judgement. People overall on the this stretch of beach seem to just walk on by. The other day a trio of young ladies set up between myself and another thonger. After their initial response of surprise at not just one but two, they settled in and could care less about us. Seems like if I don't not make a big deal, they don't make a big deal. Over all good days here in southern Maine.

I made it to the beach for a little while today.   it was a little foggy at first, but then it turned off.  As I typically do, I  wore one of my Jovana 4D thongs.  they are very revealing.  I am in pretty good shape and  completely smooth,  so I think I wear it well.   I do walk the beach and go in the water.  I have only received  complementary looks and gestures at Pine point.   I did spot and another gentleman as I was leaving. He had a beard and wore a white hat.   I had seen him there before.  I wanted to say hello and sit for a few minutes, but my time had run out.   I was just thinking it might be nice to say hello and tell him that  I also enjoy wearing a thong at the beach.  I was apprehensive and did not want to be considered creapy and weird.  I usually go to the 11th St. area.  I'm going to try and make it back out there Friday morning.

Made it to the beach early this morning to get some sun. The tide was coming in and the tractor was racking the sea weed. Took a about twenty minutes to finally get settled. The older bearded gentleman arrIved shortly after at the area just north of holiday house. No other thongers present. For the couple of hours that I was there. The water is warming up nicely and I got a few rinses and swims in.  Had a great interaction with an older woman who was walking. I had just toweled off after a swim and was re applying sun screen while standing. She offered to do my back, I gladly accepted but she walked on. At least it was fun and good natured. Maybe she will grow bold enough to follow through with her offer in the future.

A couple of days ago, sitting in my usual spot north of the State Park, wearing one of my usual Skinz M1R2s adjusted about as micro as it could go, and engrossed in my book of the moment, I failed to notice some people coming up the beach and heading towards the path up to the road, until I realized they were waving at me and calling out something I couldn't quite make out over the sound of the surf.  It was a male-female couple of maybe forty, and a boy I'm guessing was their son.  It all looked friendly, but I still couldn't make out what they were saying, so I got up and took a few steps closer, holding a hand up to my ear.  "What's your name?" the woman called.  Without thinking, I  blurted out my first name.  She came over and shook my hand.  "We've been looking for you," she said.  "We look for you every time, and we hadn't seen you, so we were afraid you weren't coming this year."  They looked dimly familiar, but I couldn't place them, and my confusion must have been apparent.  She explained that they were friends of a neighbor who let them use his beach-access, and they'd seen me from time to time since 2013,  when I broke the local style-barrier and started this thread (see above).  "We've always called you 'Banana-Hammock Man', and we always hope you'll be here," she said, "but that seemed rude, so we thought we'd introduce ourselves and say hello."  So after we'd all shaken hands and exchanged names, she made the classic muscle-man pose at me and said, "Lookin' good!"  Now, I am anything but a muscle-man, but I do a lot of yard-work, so what little there is is toned pretty well.  Still, I was a little flustered, and I said the first thing that came to mind:  "Well, I'm flattered, and thank you.  At my age, that's good to hear."  "How old are you?" "I just turned seventy."  Jaws dropped, which was even more flattering, and she came over and gave me a big hug.  Then off they went, with lots of waves and good wishes.  So there you are: Scarborough Beach has a new, nearly-naked local character, and I have a small fan-club.  Pretty nice!

Was able to get to the beach for a couple of hours today. Parking was surprisingly easy near 9th street. Older gentlemen was in his yellow string . I decided to wander a little further down just past holiday house. There was another board member that I had not met in person, and still don't know their handle. Anyway gave him the card I have and he recognized my posts. It was good to make a contact. Anyway, the beach was right does with the soft and smelly reddish seaweed. Not good from swimming as it clings to everything. Nice breeze keeping the green heads at bay. All in all a good day in Maine.

Yeah, that was me. Was on the board under a different handle for quite few years in the past, then took a break. Usually I go to Ogunquit ( or South Beach, FL ) but back to Pine Point after my previous run-in with the CSO. It's great, but it's a much longer drive for me. 1st time I've encountered that weird pink seaweed. The parking was a bit easier today because when I arrived in the morning, most of the spaces were coned off for lines painting. I wouldn't expect that again anytime soon.

Re:Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine

So I made the trip up again today. Being a beautiful Sunday I arrived early, and it was already getting busy. High tide came about 10:45 so the beach was narrow. I was only on the sand about 30 minutes before I was completely surrounded by other people. Mostly families, heard a lot of french being spoken. Very chill vibe, the other beach goers were pretty cool.

What was not cool was all the freaking seaweed...! It's so thick the crashing surf appears totally brown, and after a swim I was completely caked with the stuff. It's impossible to get it all off, and I even heard other people complaining too. It dried on my clothes on my ride home leaving a pretty foul smell. ( No nearby showers like Ogunquit )
I've never seen it this bad in years past, is it like that all the time now??? Hopefully it's just temporary phenomena...

The red seaweed has been cleaned up! Beach was relatively quiet today. The racking crew was out cleaning up the beach at low tide so the place was clean and there was lots of beach to choose from. Made my way down about 7-8 minutes towards OOB from 9th Street entrance. I am trying out my new muscleskins poser in purple with a +1 for the pouch. Looks sharp will post some photos later. Good to see more activity here from other board members, hope that he clean up encourages it to continue.

A pristine day at pine point today. The tide was super low when I got here@ noon. Lots of sand to choose from in my normal spot where the older g sting gentleman had als set up. A couple that I recognized from Tuesday was also there in there traditional swimwear. The sun was s super hot, but the breeze is nice. Beach must have been racked in the morning because there is little to no seaweed. It must come in at high tide.

Re:Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine

Date Posted:08/17/2017 05:34:44Copy HTML

The problem ( for me ) is not the seaweed that ends up on the beach, that gets cleaned up everyday. The problem is all of the seaweed in the water. It's so thick you can't swim with out getting covered, I would describe it much like being caked with wet tissue paper.

The real damage is being done to local businesses. I also happen to be a bit of a surfer, and Pine Point has one of the best beach breaks around. I visited one of the local surf shops, and they explained it's something that got bad a few years ago. It's some kind of species that somehow made it's way over from Japan, highly invasive and destructive to the other marine life because it blocks out so much sunlight, and survives over winter. A lot of "regular" visitors who used to stay in the OOB area year after year have stopped coming, and I can see why.

What good is the beach if you can't go swimming....?

The seaweed that we are seeing seems to be an annual cycle that rolls in about august unfortunately. It does make for swimming and overall enjoyment of the beach a problem. It seems august is the height. I have seen some articles in local press addressing the issue and where it originated from. We have defined messed up our environment. I am still going to wear my thong on this beach. The crowd is respectful as am I. I hope that minimal swimwear fans continue to use the beach for enjoyment. September doesn't seem to have this seaweed problem. I will do my best to keep a running report.

Third day this week I have made it to pinepoint. Gorgeous day at the beach. Lots of available parking and sand to choose from. Made my way down to the start of the condos (@5 min walk from 9th Street). Earlier this week I had a young couple set up between myself and the older gentleman. She was in a pretty cheeky suit, he in board shorts. Must of been more comfortable for her. The couldn't have been twenty feet from me on one side and the same for the other g string/thonger. They look to be wrapping up the beach racking for the day so it should be nice and quiet. I will update this at end of day if anything of note should come up.

Re:Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine

I was at Pine Point on Labor Day.  I set up near the Beach Street path (where the house with the green Tyvek is). Two young women in thong bikinis set up right next to me along with the boyfriend of one of them.  He was wearing board shorts that came about half way down the thigh.  They recruited me to join them playing bocce.  A very cheeky time was had by all.

I walked the beach for about 20 minutes south towards Old Orchard Beach.  I saw several women in cheeky swimsuits, including two in thongs.  On the way back, thongerinME handed me his card.  We didn't really chat - perhaps due to the embarrassment of wearing very similar thongs (featuring an American flag motif).

I was also in the area on Tuesday.  There was a very strong, cold wind on the beach at Pine Point, and hardly a soul there.  Surprisingly, conditions at OOB only about 2 miles away were fairly nice.  I set up in front of the amusement park just south of the pier.  There was one hot woman in a thong bikini with her husband, as well as a few women in very cheeky bikinis.  No guys wore anything briefer than regular board shorts.  I walked north covering the ground that I didn't cover the day before.  Got some nice smiles and requests for pictures.

There was a huge difference in vibe after Labor Day.  Lots of businesses were closed.  Parking on the street was free.  The number of people around was drastically lower.  Weather permitting, I'll try to get back again sometime in September.

I have made it out to the beach one more time. There was another thonger...a young lady. I used the fact that she was taking selfies of her butt to introduce myself. Gave her my card quickly and asked if I could help with the photos. Quick intro, I did not want to creep on her, wanted to appear helpful. Anyway if you read this it is great to have some females on the beach with such confidence. Maybe a beach buddy in the future, someone not judgmental and only supportive. Tide was just high when I got here so there was a lot of passers by.

Re:Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine

Sunny skies and temps in the mid 70s made for great conditions on Monday and Tuesday.  I set up on the beach just south of the Holiday House Inn, wearing a g-string with an American flag motif and a USA hat.  I walked all the way north to the river and for about a mile south towards OOB.

There weren’t many people on the beach.  No thongs, and only a few cheeky bikinis on young mothers with their toddlers.  A number of women took photos as I walked past.  Most used cell phones; one used a tablet!

One man complimented me and said he wished he were bold enough to wear a thong.  Another man asked where he could get a similar suit.

On Tuesday, a bocce tournament was being held on the beach in front of the Royal Anchor Resort.  The participants were all older people – no young women in thong bikinis as I had encountered the previous week.

Overall, I had a relaxing time.  As I tell people who comment on my swimsuit:  It’s comfortable, practical, legal, and fun to wear, so why not just do it!
