Is there a place between where thongs aren't over dressed and daisy duke's aren't look at as different?

Sunday morning I finally got the wife to go with me to Apollo. Since she still wasn't interested in my favorite spot, the nude beach at lot 5, we parked at lot 4 and I kept my thong on. The weather was about perfect with most of the clouds staying inland and enough of a surf for some minor body surfing.

Another couple set up near us (at lot 4 that means within 100 yards), the woman wearing a nice orange rio with a triangle top she removed for sunning.

By 11:30 there were maybe 25 people in view and I remarked to the Mrs. that it was getting awfully crowded. When we left shortly thereafter, though, the lot was almost full, so I guess that's about as crowded as it gets at #4.

It was a fun morning, marred only by the occasional horsefly and a dead skunk in the middle of the road.

I was vacationing in Florida in early Aug, and got out to thong only once, to Playalinda. I was staying in Kissimmee, so it was a bit of drive to get to, but to me it was worth it. The beach was magnificent. I went to the northern most lot 13, where the nude beach begins.

I immediately began walking in my thong, it felt soooo good. At 10AM, there were only 10 people there, I walked south, and the place belonged to me until the next parking lot south, where people were fishing. After I returned to the nude beach area, it wasn't long before I stripped off, laid out in the sun. A steady stream of nude sun worhsippers began setting up in my general area, it was actually getting busy by 11AM. Most people tended to be older couples or single men.

I highly recommend this place for a thonging experience. The beach goes on forever, the water is warm and great for bodysurfing. Locals told me north of lot 13, the nudity law is unenforced, despite the few signs you will see as you enter Canaveral national seashore. Sure enough, rangers on ATVs rolled right by us, not scrutinizing at all.

My highlight was when a young couple set up right near me. A gorgeous brunette quickly stripped down to only a g string. I made a few trips into the water, going naked and wearing my Dore low pushup, so she couldn't help but see me. It was an exhilerating experience knowing an audience was there, as I bodysurfed in the waves.

I will definitely return to this beach one day, as it has already made a lasting impression on me.

We are going to be at Playalinda Beach the last week in March and I had a few questions.  How long does it take to get to the beach from Titusville?  I am a male and I wanting to wear a speedo and/or thong and this will be my first time doing this since we live in the midwest and I was wondering what parking lot area that I need to go to wear those suits and we are looking for privacy (and not the nude beach past lot 13)?  We want to go to a slot that doesn't have a lot of people so that we can wear small suits and aren't bothered by people looking at us.  We are new to small suits in public and being our first time doing it, we want to be relaxed and not worry about being looked at.  Will the rangers be against me wearing a speedo or thong?  I would like any other info that you can give me to help our stay on the beach be the best that it can be.  Thanks.

If you go to apollo beach any of the beaches are all right in a thong and lots 2, 3, & 4 are pretty private.  I am also from the midwest and will be heading down with my wife to apollo the first week of april.  Need to get out of all this snow. Have fun you get to go before me

I would stick to Apollo beach since Brevard county is once again on their kick about nudists and skimpy attire. Big problem with playalinda is you can’t tell from day to day when they will harass and/or arrest beachgoers. Nothing less than full coverage speedos are technically legal in Brevard county. I would also suggest to drop a note to Brevard county tourism (playalinda area) and tell them that you and all your friends will not spend one dime in their area because of their idiot county laws being presently enforced on federal lands. To make matters worst, right now House Bill 801 proposes changes to the wording of 800.03 that could jeopardize the protection for naturists and thongers alike afforded by current judicial rulings. Moreover, the bill seeks to add increased penalties under 800.03 in certain locations and during certain times of day. Nudity within 1,000 feet of a "state, county, or municipal park" or "a public beach" would be an automatic felony at any time. The legislation poses an obvious and severe threat to naturists at clothing-optional Florida beaches like Haulover, which is a public beach located within a county park. Other such Florida sites would be at similar risk. It seems that theses control freaks will not be happy with anyone wearing less than board shorts. I am going to Playalinda beach later on this week and I was wanting some information about it.  I am planning on wearing my new suits that i just received from muscleskins, i have a mp rio back and a mpx thong.  I don't want to go past lot 13 to the nude area, i would like to be on one the beach at one of the other lots where there won't be very many other people.  Can i lay out in my thong and/or rio without getting in trouble by the rangers?  Which lots will be better to go to that not very many people will be there and where i can wear my thong?  I am new to this and i want to work on my tan, i will only be there a couple of days and want to enjoy myself.  I have heard that the officals were cracking down on things at Playalinda some this year, what about that?

you should not have any problem with a thong or rio back at Playalinda.  They have been cracking down on nudity right at lot 13.  Most nudist have moved a little more north away from the parking lot.

I just got back from visiting Playalinda and Apollo Beaches last week.  This was the first time that I had worn a thong on the beach and it was great.  I went to Playalinda on Sat and Sunday and it was a little cold with the clouds and the wind but it felt great laying out in the sun in my muscleskins mpx thong.  We were at lot 9 at Playalinda and there weren't that many people there, maybe 15 and half of them were fishermen.  I covered up whenever someone walked by, I just didn't want to offend anyone.  Towards the end of the day on Sunday we had 2 girls and a guy set up close to me and I didn't cover up and one of the girls kept looking my way and it felt great getting some attention.  On Wed I went to Playalinda by myself and the beach was closed due to the shuttle coming back down from space so I drove around to Apollo and went to lot 5 but it was full so I went to Lot 2 and I was there with about only 6 fishermen.  So I laid out in my thong all the time and even went into the water with it on and not putting my swimtrunks on.  After a couple of hours i went to Lot 5 and got lucky and found a parking spot and went to south to the nude section of Lot 5.  I found a spot and took off my swimtrunks and then my thong and laid out nude and it felt great.  I even went on a walk up the beach nude like some of the other people were doing and it felt natural.  On thursday my wife and I went back to Playalinda to lot 8 and I laid out in my mpx thong again and didn't cover up as much and I even went into the ocean with it on.  This week being my first time going to the beach in my thong was great and i hope that i get to do it many times more.  Being from the missouri i don't get the chance to go to the beach very much.  My wife was a little upset with me for 'displaying' myself but i actually did more than i thought she would let me get away with.  Besides that, i got a very dark tan all over.

Sounds like you had a great time, and glad you enjoyed your first time thonging on the beach. What a way to start, with an MPX, no less! Was your wife's concern with your 'displaying' yourself your time wearing the thong or your nude time at Apollo? My wife is okay with me in moderate thongs, but doesn't think so favorably of my tiny  g-strings, and would surely have a problem with my Muscleskins MP thong or one-sided thong. As for the nude thing, she knows I do it on occassion when she's not with me, but her worry seems to be mostly that I'll get in trouble, as we have no nude beaches anywhere around here. I assure her I'm very careful. As you say, it just feels so natural. Sure hope to visit Playalinda and Apollo sometime when we're driving south toward Miami, I've heard so much good stuff about them here on the board and elsewhere.

By the way, did your wife thong, too?

SlidingG,  my wife was concerned about me 'displaying' myself in my mpx thong.  She wasn't with me when i went to the nude section of Apollo.  She is a very conservative person, so i was darn lucky that she put up with me wearing my thong.  I walked into the ocean with just my thong on at Playalinda with people about 40 yds away and she didn't stop me.  I wish that i lived closer to a beach so i could go do it again more often but here in Missouri there isn't anyplace that i can go in a thong.

I would really like an update on these beaches.  I was at Apollo beach this past week, drove to parking area 5 and found that the "legal nude beach" sign was gone.  There were still a number of people way to the south that were sunbathing in the nude from the parking area but is it still legal to do so without the signage?  Additionally, I went to Playalinda a few months ago and was ordered by a ranger to move to the nude section while in a conservative thong.  Not very friendly there.  I was able to bathe in a thong without any issues at Apollo.

I have not heard of any changes of the laws for Apollo recently so hopefully the sign missing is temporary. For the latest just call the park office for Apollo. Playalinda on the other hand is in a different county than Apollo, is a mess with the county laws being enforced at random. Playalinda is federal land so county law should not even be a factor but that’s not the case. Brevard county laws not only ban nudity but exposure of buttocks as well as the showing of any genitals in a “turgid state” so that’s why you can’t wear a thong anywhere in the county including at playalinda except the extreme north end where they are “tolerating” such suits for now. These control freaks are even hassling some people for wearing speedos, which are still legal, in other parts of the county. Everyone should contact the tourism board and the association of hotels for Brevard county and make it clear that they as well as everyone you know will be spending NO money in the county until such idiot laws are changed. Sadly from the grapevine info i'm hearing the controls over our lives  these nuts have planned for use is going to get a lot worst.

Was at Playalinda today, gorgeous day!  Was able to lay out in a Skinz thong all day from 10am-4pm in lot 10-- short of the nude beach area at lot 13.  If you walk north of lot 10 there is quite a bit of space before lot 11 on the beach to stay away from kids.  I was able to lay out near the access to the beach from the parking lot without any issues since there wasn't anyone there initially.  A group of 4 (3 ladies and 1 lucky guy) laid down next to me and one of the ladies actually had a thong on too (I think they were of Brazillian descent).  More importantly, a ranger rode by twice on his ATV and didn't even stop to tell us to cover up our thongs (they're ok on the weekdays with fewer people I guess).  I've been told to move to the nude area because of my thong before on a Saturday once.  Funny, huh?  Not tolerating a thong, but tolerating the nudists at lot 13.

I was there yesterday.  My second thonging trip ever was a fantastic one.  The nude section seemed quite busy when I got there around 12:30.  My roommate and I decided to lay out in an completely empty just south of the nude area in lot 12.  I was there for 3.5-4hrs and only saw 2 other g-stringer men walking around.  I was the third person in a g-string.  While I was there, I did happen to notice that there seemed to be a fair amount of people in the nude section this time wearing regular swimsuits and dork shorts from the first time I went there.  I wish I had gotten more sun, but those fierce afternoon storms came rolling in :(

I would like to walk further south on the beach to get a longer walk in, but would like to know if anyone has a "safe" point on the beach to turn around at before reaching the more family populated areas.  Or should I limit myself to staying somewhat north as possible?

I was at Apollo beach on Tuesday May 23rd.  I got to the parking lot 5 just after 8:00 am, there were about 10 cars already there.  There is only 23 parking spaces at lot 5.  I walked south from the beach access, I am not sure how far I went, I just walked until I saw naked people.  I spent the next 5 1/2 hours naked on the beach, no problems with other people, never saw a park ranger. Once bit of advice, bring bug repellant, damn horse flys!

I have an e-mail contact that goes to Playalinda on a regular basis. She says there is no problems with nude sunbathing north of parking area 13 unless you go into the dunes.

Check the NASA launch schedule, the Canaveral National Seashore is closed for a couple of days prior to launches.

I think the reason rangers want to keep nude people out of the dunes is becuse that's where the problems occur.  When some people are nude and percieve some privacy they often ignore the fact they are out on public land and engauge in the sort of behavior that gets all nudits and thongers a bad name.

blah99, if youre going to be wearing a gstring or be nude you should stay as north as possible.  there are families even in lot 12 and while you may think nudity is no big deal, not every parent wants their little kids seeing a naked person.  a lot of adults dont like seeing naked people either.  its guys like that (being nude/gstring south of lot 13) that gets people all upset and ask for nudity to be banned.  so please dont ruin it for the rest of us!  i like having a tanned butt LOL  :)

Re:Playalinda / Apollo beaches, Canaveral National Seashore in Volusia and Brevard County FL

Well folks... Despite all the signs driving in to the Park (Playalinda Beach) saying "NO NUDE sunbathing" and even as soon as you walk in on the beach - there they were.... over a 100 naked people enjoying the beach.

I was the only one in a thong that I could see.  Maybe one or two other woman were in a thong as NUDE ws the Norm here for sure. I kept my thong on the entire day and walked a bit off down South of the Nude beach close to Parking Lot 12. Was just good to get away from the Nude beach crowd for a bit as walking on the beach near Lot 13 is limited.

Parking Lot 13 is important to remember as this is where the NUDE beach is and is the very last lot.  There is only about 30 spaces if that...  The walk from Lot 12 is not too bad, just more or an inconvenience with few spaces there too. So the KEY here is GET there early to get a good space on the weekends.

Once on the beach - as soon as you go over the cross over and go to the left the Nude beach starts. It stretches for about a mile (if that). I was told that they shortened the stretch due to people distrubing the Dunes and some story about Some Girl Scouts getting lost. ( I highly doubt that story).

NOTE:  If you want to continue walking further down the beach, be sure to get a "PERMIT" when you check in at the Park. I didn't know this... and wish I did... but it was my first visit. So if you enjoy long long walks on a beautiful beach - get the permit. If you walk past the area that says DO NOT pass this area without a permit.. YOu could be subject to a $500.00 fine.

If your looking for a place where other thongers will be..this isn't it.  I didn't see much as stated... but it is a thong friendly beach as everyone is accepting - as do all Nude beaches. As long as it's an Adult beach and thongs are acceptable... it was good beach in general. Hope this opinion was helpful to future visitors. The water and the Sand there is great. Parking was only $3.00 bucks. But get the permit to walk further if you like to walk further down (where I couldn't go - because I never knew about this until I got to the beach.)

I dont know which one I was at last week, it was the one in titusville near kennedy space center - playalinda maybe?  I always get the 2 confused.  I had a white gstring swimsuit on and was laying out in the lot 1 beach at the very front when the rangers drove by within a few feet on their 4x4s - they didnt say anything to me, but they said something to a guy in a bright blue speedo that was wedged up his butt to make it look like a thong.  He was just coming off the wooden stairs and walking towards the water when they passed me and stopped at him.  I dont know what they said, but he left and came back with board shorts on.  He was prob 40-50?, overweight and not very easy on the eyes......   Maybe he stuck out more than I did, or maybe because I look 14 they didnt say anything but it just seemed weird.  I always thought the beach police were the ones that had that power not the rangers on the 4x4s.  Just something I thought Id share!

Billy - no worries - Apollo Beach is still nude south of Lot #5.

My GF & I have gone nude there once each of the last 2 years - we were last there in March of '09. We also like to wear thongs when walking to the beach from our car, so we get to partake in both nude sunbathing & thonging. :-)

Just be sure to get to Lot #5 early & you'll be fine - have a great time!

I was at playalinda today....i think its the same beach as apollo just a little south (theyre both part of cape canaveral seashore).

It was beautiful!  It was 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, just warm enough to lay out.  The water was ice cold, but its not a big deal if you only use it to cool down or get the sand off.

I noticed it's mostly retired people fully dressed with binoculars and cameras visiting.  They're there collecting shells, looking for whales/dolphins, and just walking up and down the beach.  I actually felt kind of awkward laying out in the sun while they were all dressed in jackets and hats LOL.

But then again I didn't go north of lot 12 where all the nudists and thongers are.....Im sure it was a different scene up there.  I think its lot 5 at apollo.  But yeah, really nice day.  :)

Hey Guys, went to the Canaveral Seashore today only to find out only #1 was open, they were doing some controled burning. So managed to find a parking space and head over the walk way, there was a strong breeze coming in off the water, why did I leave the wind break at home, found a spot down the shore, the beach was closed from the first observatory to the south including all the rest 2,3,4,5. Well it was warm enough to handle the breeze however the debris from the fire was somehing else, ashes and soot keep drifting across the sand and the air. Only found one other thonger guy there were a few women. I had worn my new M/S white thong only to have it turn greay from all the ashes setteling on the blanket. In all a good day but not the best I have had the pleasure of finer days over there.

i live in titusville n go 2 playalinda 2x or more a week.  i *never* see anyone in a thong before lot 12.  well, i take that back, i did see a older guy try to wear one at the eddy creek lot once and someone called the ranger/law enforcement.  the problem is, playalinda is in brevard county and brevard is super strict about thongs and skimpy swimwear in public, they'll def give u a ticket.  so even tho u can prob get away with it, all it takes is 1 complaint from a prude (there are lots in brevard its sr. citizen capital of the world i think) and it ruins the fun.  the locals know the far end is reserved for  the nudes and get very angry when they see people nekkid or in thongs outside of that area, in their mind its like..."omg these people must be tourists and dont know, let me teach them a lesson".  honestly, its just reallllly old people and families w/ little kids in teh lower lots so ne-1 w/ common sense would avoid thonging there ne-wayz.  so my advice is always go past lot 12 to be on the safe side and ur around people that dont mind that sorta thing.  :)

And if you don't park in an actual spot, do you get a ticket or towed?  If its a ticket, how much is it? Because really, if it's  just a parking ticket, it might be worth it to lay out nude than to park at lot 4 and trek with a cooler, etc to the nude section.

Thanks.

My wife and I was there a few years ago.  We had gone out there just looking around and when we got to the end of the road, we parked and got out.  We looked around the parking lot and saw a police officer sitting in his cruiser.  We walked over to the beach and looked around for only a few minutes.  We didn't stay very long as it was cool and very windy.  A tropical storm was in the area, but is beside the point.  In the brief time we were there, my wife spotted a guy getting nude and was surprised by it.  When we got back to our car, we noticed the police officer sneaking around behind the bushes looking at the beach.  Seriously, he was sneaking and hiding while looking at the beach.

The only thing we could think that he would be looking for is some sort of sexual activity?  He was very deliberate to be hiding from the beach goers as we could clearly see him from the parking lot.

Any idea what he was looking for?

Canaveral National Seashore operating hours are:  6am - 6pm (winter hours), 6am - 8pm summer hours). Those park rangers can be real pains in the ass. I consider them to be 'cowboys.'  Pervs in other words.

Back to subject.  Canaveral National Seashore is south of New Smyrna Beach, FL.  In other words, it is on a sand barrier island who's eastern beach is the Atlantic Ocean.  When the park opens its gates be there and drive the speed limit all the way south to the end of the road.  There is a parking lot that has a very limited amount to parking spaces.  You need to get there early only because the fishermen who use the boat ramp or go fishing on either the east beach side or west... the channel side come early and don't give up their parking spaces till they leave.  Often past noon or later!  There is healthy competition for those few parking spaces.  That southern most parking lot has restrooms/change rooms located in a concrete block house that has a wooden ramp and staircase that leads down about 8 feet to the level of the sand beach.  You need to walk about 50 or so feet south to encounter a sign that says... Nude bathing permitted beyond this point.  At the point you are at Apollo Beach.

Please don't be stupid and do anything lewd.  The rangers are on a mission from what ever God they listen to in their hyper active testosterone driven 'Rony Rightous' heads and sneak around in the vegetation on the higher sand dunes a few yards to the west of the shore line.  They are real creeps and sometimes wear camo gear and slither like snakes through the plants just to 'perv' on beach goers.  They will issue citations for any imagined or real lewd conduct.

Oh... parking...  Don't you dare park anywhere but in available parking spaces and not in handicapped spaces!  If you arrive late you may have to drive around the circular end of the road and head back up north to the next parking lot about 1/2 mile away.  If you strike out you may have to drive even further north to the third or fourth from the end of the beach.

Don't bring any glass containers to the beach, you will be cited if you are seen with them on the beach. Don't get drunk and act stupid.  You will be cited and possibly arrested.

Try to live by the rules and have some fun, but remember the 'pervs on patrol' (rabid rangers) are sneaking around.  Good luck and have a memorable day at Apollo Beach.

So let me get this straight  OS?  Drive 50 miles north then through a condo forest and then still worry about rednecks AND Rangers?

Can't you wear thongs and not go nude anywhere on Apollo beach?   Haven't been there for maybe 10 years now but remember the small parking lot- thought it was better at the south end entering thru to Playa Linda.

Thongs don't seem to be a problem anywhere at Apollo - I've worn them several places outside the traditional nude area.  Seen topless and nakedness as well.  The sign has been gone for some time, tho most of us keep south of lot 5 for nudity to avoid potential complications.

I was laying out in a gstring at lot 12 at Playalinda from 9-11 this morning.  A park officer approached me (first time ever in my gazillion times visiting) and my heart nearly beat out of my chest as he got closer.  I've never been arrested or got a citation for anything and was worried I was going to be cited for breaking a Brevard county nudity ordinance (thongs are illegal in Brevard).  He walked up and said, "hey how are you this afternoon, don't mean to disturb you, I was just curious where you bought your thong? they're hard to find around here".  I just wanted to laugh out of relief!  He was really polite and said I wasn't breaking any laws, he was just curious because he spends time catching some rays on his days off.  Wow.....I wasn't expecting that LOL.

That is a funny story!  I know exactly what you mean by how your nerves kick in when a police officer singles you out and approaches to talk to you, even when you don't think you are doing anything wrong.

I was at Playalinda about a year ago and was disappointed to find that you cannot walk down the beach north of lot 13 anymore without a backcountry permit?  Is that still the case?  Is there anyway around this?  I take it this is still a nude beach north of lot 13?

That is correct.  A permit is required to proceed north of the sign requiring it.  There is a hefty fine to be north of the sign without said permit.  I've found that thonging between the beach access ramps in parking lots 8 and north to be acceptable-- staying away from kids and families is most prudent.

I have been to all the lots at apollo and have never had a problem wearing a thong or walking the beach.  Did have a few young people make a commit one time at the north side of 5 but I could not here them.

My wife and I wanted to get away for a couple days so we went over to Cocoa Beach. While looking at the local map I noticed we were not that far from Playalinda so we took a drive up there. Being a week day there were not many cars at any of the parking areas. The ones we stopped at were mostly guys fishing. We got all the way to the end of the road where the nude beach is and took a look. There were maybe thirty people out on the beach most of them nude and a few women topless. Unfortunately the skies opened up 10 minutes after we arrived and everyone left the beach. The weather continued to be rainy so we never got back up there but I will go back at a later date.

Playalinda update:  Was there today and was able to thong all day at lot 11.  I believe if you thong in lots 10-13 you can stay away from not only the crowds but also the kiddos.  Use your discretion, don't set up next to families and you should be fine.   I also walk a ways down from the crossover.  I also saw several women in thongs and one was topless, although down aways from the crossover.   Great couple of days for tanning as the tropical storm moves east and keeps FL dry.

I haven't seen anything posted recently about Smyrna Beach. We're going to be staying at one of the timeshares in November- what should we expect regarding our choice of swimwear?
