Spent the day at Apollo Beach. What an awesomely cool  place. To hell with the thong, just went nude the whole day Wish there was more parking at lot 5 , but that's how it goes. Some spring breakers came down and some people going to the back country/ Klondike Beach to camp.

I booked a car and 4 nights at the Best Western Space Shuttle Inn. It was the cheapest namebrand place around with reasonable reviews and it's right near the Ramada. Looks like it has a decent pool. I plan on a couple days at Playalinda and/or Apollo, and a day at the space center. I'll have to see how it goes at the hotel with a thong - I doubt I will, but I will for sure wear my JS Bulge Bikini (with a JS Bulge thong underneath just in case.

Just poking around on tripadvisor and now there is a post saying Apollo lot 5 is closed for maintenance.

I'm having terrible luck. Anybody know more about this? How far is lot 4 from lot 5? Is it walkable, or should I just skip it and go to Playalinda?

Two mile walk from 4 to 5.  Have walked it many times, but then another approx. 1/2 mile walk to the C/O area.

I LOVE Playalinda. Used to live in Florida (years ago) and went to Playalinda a few times. Was my first and only experience on a totally nude beach, and of course I was totally nude the whole time. So much fun and I would love to go back!

No I would say with the 5 lot down you'll see the nudies between 4 and 5 until 5 reopens!  Remember the lots are closer together at Playalinda- about 1/4- 1/2 mile.

Got to Apollo around 3 today. checked out the visitor center, then down to lot 4. Still a half dozen parking spots. walked down to the beach, then south, past about a dozen people, mostly older folks, mostly men, a couple of 30-40-something MF couples, a MM couple. I walked past them all, then set up and laid out nude for a couple hours about a half mile south of lot 4, plus a little walk looking for shells. Had a couple friendly nods from a couple guys that walked past. 90% of people were nude. Walked almost all the way back to the parking lot in my muscleskins poser, past a few people - I was almost the last to leave. nobody seemed to care. It was a really nice change of pace - great attitude. I'm looking forward to going again, maybe with more people - hopefully to get a parking space, but have other like-minded people around. I really liked it. Now I'm trying to decide which day to go the space center, and which to go to the beach. I saw no signs whatsoever about c/o. Are they down at lot 5?

It's been a year or so since I've been to Apollo, but the signs were long gone then.  When they came down nudity didn't end at lot 5 but spread to the other lots to a small degree, with no hassle from rangers or anyone else.  Most nudists have kept to 5, not wanting to ruin a good thing by offending bathers elsewhere, though I'm not sure it would be a problem. I would bet that when construction is done, there will continue to be plenty of nudity anywhere south of 4.

When I've been at a lot other than 5, it's generally been in a thong and I've never had a problem in 20 years or so.

I went to Playalinda today and spent the whole day there. Hopefully I put on enough sunscreen. :)Had a chill day Just hanging out sunning, reading, swimming. Was nude 95% of the time. Set up almost at the backcountry sign. Walked down the beach in my black stuffit. Then back nude. I sort of stood out in the crowd in that gstring, but screw it. It got fairly crowded mid-day.  95% of people nude. Mostly  men, mostly older, but some couples and some women. around. Headed back tomorrow.

What a fantastic day at Playalinda yesterday, May 2.  Got there about 7:30 until about 2 or so, set up my stuff down by the Back Country sign.  Spent an hour or so in my Navy blue Muscleskins thong and then shed the thong and spent the rest of the day nude or in my bunng.  Weather was perfect, a little cool at first and then warmed up to about 80 degrees.  Tried to meet a fellow Thonger (lcp84047) but somehow our timing was off and we weren't able to hook up.  Hopefully next time!

Fill a couple empty gallon water jugs to pour over yourself.  Also pack an old washcloth to scrub the grime off after the first rinse, and after the second rinse you're clean and ready to go to town.  I used to do this after a day at East Beach in RI for a comfortable ride home, which usually included a stop at Salem Dairy ice cream stand, where I was more presentable than most other returnees from after their day at the beach.

If you leave Playalinda and go straight (due west) at the traffic light, you will pass Parrish Park.  It's on the right, just before the high aspect bridge over the river.  i know they have rest rooms, i don't know if they have showers.

http://www.brevardcounty.us/ParksRecreation/North/Parrish-Titusville

Just over the bridge, again on your right is Sand Point Park.  It also has rest rooms.

http://www.brevardcounty.us/ParksRecreation/North/SandPoint/Home

i always take a few quart sized bottles of drinking water or powerade with me when i go the the beach.  once they are empty, i fill a couple with sea water to rinse off my feet at the car.

can someone who knows for sure post if showers are available at either of those parks?  thanks.

No, no showers nearby or by the bridge.
I just take a couple of gal milk bottles full of water.
I put them in the sun in the car and when I return to my car, I have a nice warm shower.
A small bottle of soapy water can be great too, before the clear water.
Watchout though, the water can get really hot if you're at the beach a long time.

I spent all day Saturday on Playalinda, 95% of it nude. I got there about 7:15 and set up halfway between lot 13 and the backcountry sign. After I set up, I took a walk to the sign and back. It was pretty windy, so I took a nap in my beach tent for a while, then got out and got some sun.

Around noon, I walked nude down to lot 13, then put on my Joe Snyder Bulge Bikini to walk down among the clothed all the way to Lot 10.  I saw nude people all the way to halfway to lot 12. Hardly anybody at all between lot 12 and 11. Then people again halfway to lot 10.

For the most part, nobody paid attention to me on my walk, except I'm pretty sure one late 20s guy walking with his wife/girlfriend got a laugh out of my bikini.

It was a lot more crowded Saturday than Friday, as expected, but not overly so. People just did their own thing, 90% of them were nude. Nobody cared. I didn't really talk to anyone, except briefly when I was setting up. Not sure if I'm just anti-social, or if that's just the way people are there.

I left about 4PM. It was a great day, and I was sad to go. I had to fly home Sunday and am back to reality - hence the delay in my post.

I just spent a couple of hours at Apollo Beach on Friday (5/8). I was not aware that the road was closed after lot 4, and there were no parking spots available in lot 4. I was a little upset because I near Playalinda, and I was going to try the nude beach there for the first time. I drove back up to lot 3 and decided I would just wear my adjustable front g string instead of laying out nude. I was still a little nervous about this because I did not want to run into any families to be offended. I wrapped a towel around me and headed to the beach. I just happened to run into a couple leaving and she was wearing a thong. I asked her if it was cool to wear a thong down at this end, and she said yeah no problems, she even added go nude if you want. I took off my towel and headed down. I walked just a little north of the crossover to a nice spot. I just laid out in the g string, but after a while I just got nude and no problems!! I love wearing my thongs, but when you want to go lay out nude and can't, it's very disappointing!!!

Went to playalinda this past Thursday. I laid out at pier 10 in my black muscleskinz black thong. There were quite a few nudists here, i guess the rangers dont care anymore if they stray down that far south of pier 13. I was there from about 2 to 415, next to a group of 3 20's-looking girls, 2 of them in thongs. i made two trips past them into the water, didnt seem like it fazed them. two girls on the other side of me as well, one topless, the other fully nude. water was beautiful and clear, what a great day.

That's Apollo lot 5.  Since they're in the same park they ought to name them like airport gates, maybe  A5 and P 13.  It's good to see that the rangers are allowing a "range" of nude use rather than strictly north of P13, south of A5.  These other places I guess would be considered "clothing optional", I think it's cool to have a group of people with some in suits including thongs and one or two nude, rather than the strictly nudist beach.  This also allows some to ease into nude easier and others to wear clothes with nude friends.

Re:Playalinda / Apollo beaches, Canaveral National Seashore in Volusia and Brevard County FL

Apollo and Playalinda are both part of the Canaveral National Seashore, a National Park.  As I understand it, the National Park Service does not want to declare any area "nude permitted" or "nude forbidden."  The rangers are there to enforce park rules (against say: entering the dunes or disturbing sea turtle nests or having glass on the beach.)  They are NOT interested in determining what beach goers must wear.

In Volusia County (New Smyrna, Daytona, Apollo) thongs are legal.  In Brevard County (Titusville, Melbourne, Cocoa Beach and Playalinda) thongs are illegal (since about 1996) and this can be enforced at Playalinda by Brevard Sheriff's Office.  (But hasn't been in several years.)

Signs would help, but the NPS doesn't want to put any up.

Recently got to spend three days during a week on Playalinda beach.  One day the weather- clouds and wind kept a lot of people away from the beach. The other weekend days there were quite a few people though one day I was able to still find a parking spot at 13 at about 11 am.The crowd of course was almost all nude though saw some walk thrus fully clothed .  The natural scenery is great.  Got a back country pass and walked for over an hour north- only saw a handful of guys out walking nude too.  The place is unique because I don't think there's another place in the USA where you can walk on the beach nude for hours legally.  I had my back country pass in a clear pouch on my back pack.  When a female ranger came along in the back country she veered over toward me, saw the pass and just said "thank you" and accelerated away. The human scenery wasn't so great to say the least.  Women made up maybe 10% and most were over 50 years old.  Most all looked at least 9 months pregnant but they weren't.  The guys were just as obese!  I've never seen so many obese naked people! As I've observed at Haulover the hottest women on the beach are TNT or TNG.  There was a near 60 year old gray headed lady with a well preserved body (with natural tits) and a cool G string.  There were a few younger couples one day who were up between 12 and 13, him naked, her topless n Thong or bikini. While on the beach I spend a lot of time nude but also wore some string only exposure suits which got quite a few inquiries about where I got them.  I wore the Good Devil Mini thong, a Dubio Strangler and a suit I made myself from elastic bands that's a slingshot two strings in front, one in back with metal C ring around the CandB and a glans ring that points me straight up.  This one undid the bit of untanned skin from the Strangler at the underside of the base and the waistline string tanline.  Saw a few guys wearing thongs, nothing very interesting- mine were the only exposure suits I saw.So I'd say it's a unique place but not as fun at Haulover.  You can wear what you want- or not.  Just don't expect to see any hotties!

Week days are the best to visit if you want to avoid the crowd or park at Lot 13.  On weekends, even in November/December, Lot 13 fills up pretty early.

"The crowd of course was almost all nude though saw some walk thrus fully clothed."
some people like to walk from the crossover to their chosen spot fully clothed, then strip down as they set up chair and towels.  The same thing happens at Haulover, it's just seems different due to the linear nature of Playalinda (a long, narrow strip of beach) verses the beach park style of wide sandy beach at Haulover.

"The natural scenery is great."
amen.  Playalinda and Apollo are beautiful, pristine beaches that, (other than a few launch pads to the south and a tracking telescope domed building near lot 13) looks like the sort of place that Ponce de Leon might have landed.

"Got a back country pass and walked for over an hour north- only saw a handful of guys out walking nude too.  The place is unique because I don't think there's another place in the USA where you can walk on the beach nude for hours legally.  I had my back country pass in a clear pouch on my back pack.  When a female ranger came along in the back country she veered over toward me, saw the pass and just said "thank you" and accelerated away."
Thanks for bringing this up.  The back country passes are a bargain at $2.00 per person per day.  If you want a huge section of beach to yourself, THESE are great.  It's almost surprising how short a distance it is from the lot 13 dune crossover to the "no access beyond this point" sign.  I've used the passes a few times, and it's really nice to set up a towel and know that you have the beach to yourself (and the raccoons and the crabs and the seagulls.)

"The human scenery wasn't so great to say the least.  Women made up maybe 10% and most were over 50 years old.  Most all looked at least 9 months pregnant but they weren't.  The guys were just as obese!  I've never seen so many obese naked people!"
Yup.  When you're on Playalinda, you're not in Kansas (or Miami) anymore!

Thanks for your observations.  I love Playalinda, and try to get there a couple times a month.  But I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Haulover, and try to get there a couple times a year.

Playalinda is OUTSTANDING. It is our favorite beach ever and we have vacationed in the area because we want to be able to go. Certainly thong friendly along its entire length, and no thong needed at lot 13 and off north into the "back country" area. We almost always take the time to have a delightful walk about a mile north (well past the back country line) and end up with the beach essentially to ourselves. We have had hours and hours without seeing a person and time for relaxing, swimming, and some sexy fun.The area directly by the crossover can be busy sometimes and we have seen all types, and mostly nude. As for eye candy, well that all depends. If we are there then you will have some :-) But it's humanity in all shapes and sizes. For the record I have seen a few amazing bodies there. So it can happy, if that's what you are looking for.

Had a great day at Playalinda today. Got there about 830 so I had to park in 12 and walk down. Good mix of people. Saw one guy by himself in a zebra print thong. Easily one of the fittest guys on the beach. If you're on the biard, sorry I didn't have the guts to say hello-Teo solo guys on the nude beach, I didn't want to be mistaken for cruising. I'll be there the next couple days. Stop by if you're there. I'm in the green and grey Coleman beach tent, and with the blue and green beach blanket.

To be short and stay with facts instead of opinion, Playlinda has a longer beach area from lot 1 all the way north till lot 13.

That means more opportunities to select the spot best for you.  Also there are more parking spots available.

The nude section is designated at lot 13 and running north to the back country area, but as the crowd grows it has a tendency to expand southward on occasion even as far as lot 10.

Please refer to earlier post to verify my comments.  On the con side, there are no bathroom facilities or showers in the Playlinda area.

As compared to very limited parking at Apollo lot 1 (north) to lot 5 (south end - clothing optional , south of the access point, but there natural bathrooms (think brick outhouse)  and a single ,very simple, shower at lot 1.

My choice also depends on where I'm coming from or staying.  From I-95 in Titusville Apollo is probably a 40 min longer drive, but if you're already north of Titusville then Apollo is closer.  If you're coming in from Orlando Playalinda is about 40 min closer, and a very doable commute, Apollo is a longer haul and a pain to arrive early for parking.  During the winter/fall I've found even on weekends you can find a parking spot at 12, sometimes back at 11.  The bigger the crowd, and more nudists parking at 11 and 12, the further south the nude use.  I've been walking nude just south of 12 with nude people around when I saw the ranger on a 4 wheeler coming from the south, I thought they might be mad and want me to cover up, but they just kept going.  They didn't seem to mind 12 or 11.5 nudity...with July 4th crowds it might stretch to 10 for all I know. I've seen a lot of people drive up to 13 circle and unload then go back to 12 or 11 to park.  Too bad they don't have a simple shared shuttle plan, so if you're parked at 11 or 12, those unloading at 13, and driving back to park there don't give you a ride to your car, then you drive them back to 13 to join their party at the beach before departing, or maybe also giving a new 11 arrival a ride to 13 .

Re:  "On the con side, there are no bathroom facilities or showers in the Playlinda area."  Actually, there is a bathroom facility at 13 at Playalinda.  Just no shower.  Not exactly the Ritz, it's primitive but relatively clean, and it serves its purpose.

C
I've never been bothered by rangers at either section of Cape Canaveral National Seashore that is designated as c/o (clothing optional). I walk the beach nude (if you don't count sunglasses and sometimes a hat).   The c/o sections are at the ends of the roads. If I remember correctly, the parking lotsfor the c/o sections are  6 (north or New Smyrna beach end) and 13 (south or Titusville end) - in any event just go as far as the road will take you.

After a nice afternoon thonging in Flagler playing on the boogie board in the surf on Friday, I decided to check out Apollo Beach on Saturday. Left early but as usual, no parking at lot 5. I brought my bike so I dropped the gear at five and parked at 4. I ost my shorts, at that point and wore my CM enhance porch. I got on the bike and rode from lot 4 to lot 5, about 2 miles. The feel of biking only in a thong is always refreshing. Locked up the bike and went down the ramp to the beach. Layed out for about 2 hours nude. Then went for a walk from the end of 5 into 4 about 1/8 mile. No problem being nude in 4. Then put my thong back on and biked back to 4. Finished out in Flagler for the afternoon in a JS rio. Sunday went to Jax beach and thonged for a couple hours. Not to much in the way of thongs. A couple cheekys and two borderline thongs. A very nice weekend doing what I love to do. Finishing off by the pool and grilling. Here comes Monday??
