Was in Raleigh 2 weeks ago on business.  Went to the fitness connection (North Hills) to work out 4 times.  They have a small nice sundeck off their pool visible only to people in the pool area.  It was sunny and in low 70's, 2 of the days, (warm enough for me) so I asked if I could lay out, sunbathe, in a thong swimsuit.  The front desk guy said "sure, guys wear speedos out there all the time."  So I laid out 2 afternoons for over an hour in my muscleskins poser thong.  No problems, several people saw me, nobody seemed to be bothered at all.  great fun!

nice!  I may have to go check them out.  I'm not currently a gym member anywhere.  I was at planet fitness, but left several months ago.

Joel, I know the very sundeck you speak of and I have tanned there in a speedo bikini as well! Awesome.

Jordan Lake...Parkers Creek, across from Seaforth...has a long beach, seldom crowded, not always accessable by car (since it's primarily a campground), but always by boat. Great for thonging.  Occasional topless ladies too.  I realize it's late in the season, but check it out next spring.

I need to correct the previous post...it's not Parkers,  it's Poplar Point (I knew it started with a P).  It IS across the water from the known Seaforth Beach.  What makes Poplar very good for thonging....it has a long, more than 100 yards of beach, which extends north from the 'official' swimming and sunning area. If you walk past the yellow tubes that define the swimming area, there is a fantastic beach area/length there, that does NOT have the typical families with kids.  Sometimes there are boats there, but the families seldom go there, so you can sun and swim in whatever you want to wear (other than nude).  The sand and water are great, no hazards in the water.  Enjoy (next spring now).   With our unseasonably warm day today...I was there today, and had it to myself. Could have gone nude, but why chance a report.  Doesn't get any better than that.
I'd like to add, that Ebenezer is good too.   The beach towards the bridge (again, beyond the normal swimming/sunning area, is not bad...away from the main one.  Also, behind and north, is a small bay area, not visible from the main picnic and bathing area, and you can thong there with no hassles.

I've already been out to Jordan Lake, Ebenezer beaches a few times this spring. It's actually quite a nice place to tan and swim. I have been wearing thong swimwear each time and had no issues with other folks including several rangers I chatted with. NC state parks have no laws against thong swimwear, display of the buttocks. They just don't want any nudity, lewd behavior and I would assume blatantly sheer swimwear is a considered a no go as well.

I made it out to Jordan Lake today. Only a couple of hours 4:30 - 6:30. I was the only one there in minimal swimwear. A few people taking photos, nothing major. Beautiful mid 80's temp, water was a bit chilly. Overall, good afternoon.

I drove through Seaforth and Ebenezer yesterday between 4-430pm. Lots of kids and I didn't see anyone wearing minimal swimwear. tan_lines, which beach were you at?

I was up at Jordan Lake this past Wednesday through Saturday. Got a few hours each day nude or thonging on the boat. The lake level was well above normal so there weren't many beach options. Even a couple of islands the wife and I frequent were flooded. The water level is receding and hopefully the shoreline will be closer to normal soon. I hope to get back there by Memorial Day.

Just spent the past few days sunning at Jordan Lake. The only beach available was Seaforth, everything else is covered by water due to Hurricane Matthew dropping so much rain. Thonged all three days in a modest neon yellow thong. Had a couple of women, who had been paddle boarding, who spoke Spanish (European) come nearby to snap phone photos with me in the background. Chatted with other beach goers & a couple of park rangers. Walked to the outdoor shower a couple of times with just a towel in my hand. Overall, a very pleasant time with temps in the low to mid 80's.

Yesterday was a nice 80 degrees & I thonged for a few hours at Jordan Lake. Lots of people on the beach, as the weather was unnaturally warm for February. Had several younger teens walking by, having a smile or laugh. Several others walked by, not batting an eye. It was great to get out for the first time since last summer.

Are you trying to post them on the message board or under your Aimoo profile here? Maybe make them smaller because sometimes Aimoo may limit the size of the picture being uploaded. Also I believe there are 2 different ways to upload pictures. If I recall, one didn't work for me and the other did. Keep trying because I would love to see a fellow NorthCarolinian in a thong.

I have tried uploading to the images section a couple different ways. Also, I have changed my profile pic to one of me in a suit, but it doesn't show up anywhere other than the edit section. If I login from a different browser I can see it, but not on the thongboard forum. My aimoo profile shows me in a thong but the forum still shows a picture of the beach. Where are you in NC?

I visited the aloft hotel in chapel hill again this weekend and was able to spend a couple of hours out by the pool and in the sun. I went back and forth between laying out in the sun on an outdoor lounger and going to their indoor pool. The sundeck is right on a busy street so I'm certain people could see me from their cars. Also, while I was out, a young lady came back from a run and couldn't get the door open so I helped her and opened the door with my card.  I walked up right past her wearing my thong and opened the door and she acted like it was totally normal. I guess confidence is everything. I wore my blue joe Snyder bulge thong and had no issues, from laying on the lounger, to walking around the sundeck, to swimming in the pool. I wish that I had more time to spend here!

Looking forward to having a warm afternoon to go back to Jordan Lake. I tried it in October and it went okay, not a lot of people at that time but it was very muddy, about ruined my flip flops. Still hoping to go back and enjoy some leisure time in the sun soon.

I went to Jordan Lake in late February, when it was in the 80's!  Enjoyed some time in a bright yellow Daniel Alexander Protude Pouch Thong. There was lots of activity on the beach since it was so warm out. Was located at Seaforth, where the boats can pull up near the beach. Wonderful preseason sunning.

I had planned to take the boat up today but have some issues with the trailer that I need to take care of. I usually launch at Fearrington Point and find a secluded spot past the bridge to sun and swim. Maybe next week weather permitting.

Does anyone know what pools or gyms in the Raleigh area are suitable (heh) for wearing minimal swimwear, or that have a culture of casual nudity in the locker rooms? I don't assume I'll probably get away with thonging in a lap pool but I would assume brief-style swimwear would be somewhat common among those who swim for exercise so that pushing that a little further would be possible.

I was at Jordan Lake last week at Ebenezer and it was very nice. Water is warm and slopes gently away from shore though there were plenty of boats about so couldn't swim too far out. I wore a yellow Andrew Christian almost naked g string. Passed an older man and his wife on the way down the beach and chatted briefly about the condition of the shore. Set up a towel and alternated reading/swimming for a bit. Weren't many folks on the beach. A younger couple showed up to watch the sunset and as I passed back by them on my way out I got the impression he maybe wasn't thrilled with my clothing choice but nothing happened (his girl seemed okay about it) - I just smiled and said hello and walked by. I've been favoring the ebenezer beach off the picnic areas as they're not crowded and this side of the lake gets the sun in the evenings. I've also laid out on the crowded little sandy area at the point.

I stayed at the hampton inn Southpoint in Durham this weekend. They have an indoor pool attached to a small outdoor patio. I spent a few hours alternating between laying on the lounger and swimming in the pool on Friday in a joe Snyder Bulge tanga. There was a lady in the pool swimming that I spoke with for a while who was a flight attendant on a layover. She seemed to have zero issues with my swimwear choices!

How are the beaches at Jordan Lake with all the rain you all have had there (plus more coming)? Are they open? Will be there next week and wondered if the beaches would be useable if the weather is nice. Also, any thoughts on Life Time Fitness in Cary? I'm staying real close to that location. I called and was told $25 for a 24 hr. guest pass - ouch! Wondering if it was worth it? When I called the employee told me the outdoor pool was open for ages 16 and up. Sounds good for sunbathing too.

Re:Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill - Triangle area of North Carolina, NC

I don't know if anyone has tried any of the Raleigh pools. And not that I would expect them to be good places to thong. But I can pretty well guess that Millbrook Pool would not put up with it. I almost got removed from the pool for wearing a normal swim brief. I decided to swim laps after work and the only suit I brought was my white speedo-style suit. I thought that while the majority of patrons probably wear board shorts or jammers, surely it's not *that* unusual for someone swimming for exercise to wear a small suit. Anyway I walked out, got in the water, swam my first two lengths and came up to see a pool attendant standing in front of me. He was holding one of those wet floor signs so I thought he was going to tell me the lane was closed and I needed to move. Instead he said that they have a dress code and people have to wear swimwear. I said I am wearing swimwear. He said one of his coworkers told him I was wearing underwear (my speedo is white). I said well it's a swimsuit. He said is it a Speedo? I said it's not Speedo brand, it's an italian brand, but essentially yes. He walked off and I saw him talking to the lifeguard but he never came back to talk to me again so I just did my swimming and left. But all that to say I think they're touchy about it so I would certainly not want to try anything more extreme than a brief. If I go back I'll wear my blue briefs and see if that's more obvious what I'm doing. But I feel like wearing anything with more coverage would just be giving in :)

I think that is a case of people being touchy about guys swimming in cotton tighty-whities than the size of your suit. Many pools don't let you swim in your sweaty underwear. This is especially in the South, where the rule was used to exclude a certain poorer demographic.

Also, cotton fibers can clog pool filters.
