First sheer panels, then rear cut to fit between the cheeks, then pubic hugging/camel toe, now butt cleavage. Wow! Can leggings/tights get any more revealing?? Still men's styles proceed at a glacial pace.

Just plain gross on so many levels! I'm no prude but I do have some sense of fashion. Where do I start to explain that these are so very wrong... Shocking and attention-grabbing - yes. Good looking - NO! Overweight models - yes. Best way to market a product - NO! Will we see them coming to a city near us - sadly, probably. Revealing beachwear is one thing, but walking around the mall, grocery store, or State Fair showing off your pooper is another. Ladies (and gentlemen too) for the love of aesthetics, just don't do it!

Fashion sense -- Fashions come and go. The most popular stay. The best looking either stay or come back. The worst tend to eventually go away. As a thonger, I have seen this in thonging. The ups and downs of the popularity of thongs, expecially on men. Thongs came and went, practially disappearing for a while. Now they are quite common on the ladies. I remember the Madona cone-bra style. I hated it and thought it was just dumb. 95 perenct of my friends thought was to die for. Board shorts down to knees or ever lower are another thing I hate, and there seems to be some movement away from them. The droopy pants look -- Gangsta pants -- caught on went mostly went away, but now I am seeing more and more young men in them. This started as a show of your boxer tops and as things got baggier and baggier, the look just ot more and more stupid in my mind. Jeans in general have come and gone many times. Cut offs seem to go through a love-hate cycle too. With them, distressing seems to be getting more common as the shorts get shorter. I generally agree that these "things" may be fine for the bedroom, but totally inappropriate for other places. If you want to show skin, show skin, not a bunch of frilly stuff. I ran into a lady at a gas station convience store who was wearing an open mesh t-shirt. It was one of the hotest days of the summer and somehow it seemed quite approriate. Wearing the same outfit at a mall just before Thanksgiving would have seemed quite out of place. One point to remember -- the same rules should apply to heavy and thin people both men and women. If a lady can show her butt-crack then a man should be able to show his too. It is only fair to call people people. Another fact to remember is that as more and more people (usually women) wear more and more skimpy outfits, the acceptance of those outfits can go up quite a bit.This can lead to an acceptance of showing more and more skin. So while these outfits might be crazy, inappropriate or otherwise offensive to some -- including thongers -- they might be the catalyst for the thonging community to get to wear more revealing outfits in more places or eventually go to total nudity in some situations and/or places. If this look is not all that popular, it will fade away eventually. I see a lot of 1980s style running/sport shorts on women and leggings too. Men might claim they are "bike pants" or "running shorts" but face it, they really are just a form of legging. When I was about 15 these shorts and leggings were popular on both women and men, but many men skipped the look. Today I see them on both sexes and many more on men. There also is a wider acceptance of leggings in many places. Open side shirts for men have changed from something that were worn by home framers, roofers, gardeners, and other labor intensive outdoor workers. Now they are common in many places that surprise me -- not that I am complaining or have an issue with them in other environments. Guys wear these quite confidently most any place a traditional t-shirt would be accepted. I seem to see less and less on the construction worker types who have moved to usually white tank tops, but at the same time I see more in the stores and restaurants in the area. For me this is a cool look and I guess is quite normally accepted most places (at least in the mid West) so I assume that a guy can now show the sides of his upper body and even his nipples in places where more coverage was expected and so this is an example of a fashion permitting more skin exposure. (Of course men could go shirtless at the beach and in most out-door places, but society generally expected men to wear a shirt with more coverage than an open side shirt has inside most public buildings. Today, open side shirts that normally show some nipple are acceptable most of these places.) Back cleavage outfits might not make it as a popular fashion but they might lead to more options in minimal swimwear.

You might want to consider that area also gets hot and needs ventilation. Anyone who has worn a jock strap knows this. Now Rihanna also has additional items that are crotchless meant for wearing outside. I believe that when I see it.

Mary: Overall well said. One person's fashion forward is another person's repulsion. :-) I disagree somewhat on the men's fashion aspect though. At least where I live, with regard to men's fashion being more revealing, there's still a *big* push-back for men. (and yes, I live in a major, supposedly world-class metropolitan blue-state area) Still there's a "nobody wants to see that" attitude. *Except* for the pants hanging down a guys butt and showing his boxers. Guess that's supposed to show he's bad@$$ or something. Still don't see many men in bikinis let alone thongs at the pools, beach, or water parks.

I don't hate these things, but I don't find any sex appeal in them either. If you want to be sexy at the gym, just go with short shorts and crop tops / sports bras, but at the same time, realize people may just wear those things because they're comfortable to wear working out. More generally speaking, this type of style has the potential to create a nasty "conservative" type of backlash with new rules laws being written that would inevitably have wider consequences, so it's not a good idea for most people in most parts of the country to wear these to their local gym.

Might be more for a nightclub/danceclub night on the town where you go to "see and be seen". ;-)

Looks like women are wearing the skin tight leggings commonly - everywhere on the street- not just nightclubs in S Fla. They have incredible "crackage" with no fabric bridging down the ass! Had a funny thing happen the other day. In a certain very affluent town I'm creeping along in traffic in my car and there's a hot 20's girl walking in very skin tight leggings and a crop top in heels going the same way on the side walk. Since traffic was moving at her speed I was enjoying the rear view out the windshield. Because I thought I could probably see everything I thought "what are the chances she's wearing underwear--ZERO!" Right after I thought that she steps just off the sidewalk as the cars were stopped. She raises her phone and snaps a selfie of herself standing in front of my car! ( don't know if that caught my surprised expression thru the windshield) She steps back on the sidewalk and walks ahead and around the corner.
