Beach events are by there very nature co-ed. That is Saturday beach breakfast / lunch and Sunday at Haulover Nude Beach. Cheston House, the host motel, is a traditionally gay men's venue, although when taken over for SunSplash there are a good number of straight men. We don't normally see women at the hotel so if she doesn't mind being the only women in a group of men I don't think it would be a problem, but check with Ed on the current situation for day passes and women.

Thanks to all who came out to the Saturday Breakfast / Brunch on the beach. We had a good crowed. Difficult to put a number on it as people came and went, but I would guess, between the people in the sea and the people laying out on the sand we had 30 to 40 for most of the time. I think we will do that again next year. I liked using that bit of beach at the South end of Bonnet House. Although it is a five block walk from the hotel there is more space and no crowding from the beach chair concessions. I had a good time at Sunsplash. Thanks to Ed and Mike who put in a tremendous amount of work.

The SunSplash weekend is now history. I think I can speak for everyone there, and tell you all that is was a great weekend! Everyone seem to have had a wonderful time. I must give a big "Thanks" to JM_runs, our thong board moderator, for the beach party brunch that he provided on Saturday morning. He had a huge selection of food and drink for everyone to enjoy. Many of the "locals" turned out for this gathering, along with those attending SunSplash. It was a great way for the locals to socialize with those who had come from all across the U.S., and other countries too. Thank YOU JM! We all appreciate your generosity for being an awesome beach host! Over the weekend we enjoyed so many things. From the "SunSplash Safari" Welcome Mixer, to the fashion shows by Mensuas and Audace, the evening pool-side meals, the time visiting around the pool, going to the Ft Lauderdale Beach and Haulover Beach, and so much more, it was a great time and place to meet and socialize with our fellow thongers. Of course, forming new friendships was something we all probably enjoyed the most. To all of you who were there, THANK YOU for coming! I will treasure the memories of our time together for a long time to come!

Is there any way to post the dates earlier?  I have to get my vacation days requested for the next year before the end of the current year.  For example, to schedule a day or week (or whatever) off in 2019, I have to have the dates turned in by December 31, 2018.  The company I work for has hundreds of employees, and they are good about giving you the day you want off since they fiddle around with everyone's schedules to make sure we are covered.  There are also a few people who's job is to cover anytime an emergency happens -- like an illness or death in the family or an employee or their spouse having a baby.  These people cover sometimes for non-emergency situations if they are not needed otherwise.  You have to wait until the day before you want to take a day off to ask.  Like if I wanted to go to a concert in Chicago and drive there on Friday, I could request that Friday off on Thursday and if they had people who cover for you available they will let you take the day off.  But they can only do this one-day at a time.  If I got Wednesday off and wanted to take Thursday off too, then I would have to call in between about 3:30 and 4:30 on Wednesday and ask to take Thursday of.  If they say no, then I have to rush home so I cat get to work Thursday morning. If I tried to take a day off as a sick day immediately after a vacation day, I need a doctor to write that I need the day off. All this seems like overkill and very restrictive, but at the same time, we get 10 "free" days (the ones covered by the emergency people) a year which we can take off whenever we want, or we can bank unused days for up to two years, or ask for bonus pay for days we don.t use.  This is great for those days when you have to be home for a delivery or yth cable guy..  This is how I got so much time on my Canadian trip -- I saved as many extra days from the "free" days for two years, had 16 days saved, that equaled more than 3 weeks.  I also got my normal 2 weeks off, and the Forth of July holiday.   I also got an additional week off when they had a break in production and gave everyone the option to take the week off at 80% pay.  This I did not plan on, but it gave us up to 6 weeks and 2 days for our trip. Another benefit is that when we do business travel, we can take a friend of spouse as long as we pay for any plane or train tickets to get to where we are going.  The company spends so much for business travel that they get really good deals on air and train tickets, and so we often pay half or even less of the published ticket prices.  If the trip is international (even Canada) they pay for the extra fare 100%.   If we take overnight trips on the train, they get us some type of room, and Amtrak will let you have friends use extra beds since you are renting the room.  They also give you extra meals -- as many as the number of people in your room.  So if you have a 2-person room, and are traveling alone, you can invite another person on the train to share your room or you can give someone else free meals since you have meal tickets for two and only use one.  Randy has been all over the place with me thanks to the various travel benefits.  The company pays or extra hotel/motel charges, entertainment (up to $35 per day per person) which can pay for movies, museums, and some sporting events, and also pays for meals for the spouse in addition at the same rates they pay the employees.  If we are going to meet someone for business purposes, then whatever the costs are, they are  for the spouse/friend at full cost.  The company actually encourages people to take their spouses to dinners and sports events with clients/suppliers so it gives the company a more family oriented image, and there is less of a chance of someone coming on to a person who's husband or boyfriend is with them. But going to the Sunsplash is almost impossible for Randy and me unless I know when it will be before the end of the previous year, and then sometimes things come up (one year I was pregnant and was too close to the expected delivery day to go.  Last summer, we had the big "once in a lifetime" adventure in the Canadian Rockies with our new trailer. I think you need to set up women-friendly things so we can have some time to ourselves.  I understand that the motels you use are gay and women are not permitted.  An alternate hotel very close by might appeal to some people, even some of the men who might be homophobic.  You could try to get special rates for event goers who could not go to the gay hotel or would not be comfortable there.

Curiousfun………How neat to know that you will be attending SunSplash this year. It is set for July 26-28 this year. Yes, there are rooms available. Just call the Cheston House and they will tell you what's available and the room rates. There is a three night minimum stay. Should you want a roommate, I'm sure there will be others looking for a roommate in the near future. Before long I will be making a post about this year's event. Many want to plan ahead even though we are several months away from our 9th Annual SunSplash weekend. The photographer that was there last year is Pablo. He is one excellent photographer! Plus, he is a very nice guy, and very personable. I hope you get with him for a photo shoot. You will be thrilled with the results. You can contact Pablo at: privateflasher@yahoo.com

Wondering if there is another event like the Sunplash but for straight people ? I've seen all the pictures of the previous Sunplash events and is pretty obvious that is a 101% gay event (ZERO females shown in pictures ! ! ) Just to be clear : I am not an homophobic and I totally respect gay people However it would be so nice to have a similar event in South Florida for male and female members (or at least a few male and female beach goers to hang out with) An event just for heterosexual friendly male and female members that wear plain thongs or minimal swimwear at "normal" beaches without hiding (Guys : No need to be an exhibitionist with "pistol" or "torpedo" suits ) Hope to get some feedback Thanks

BienDotado, for your information, there are always straight guys who attend SunSplash each and every year. I don't know how you can look at pictures and decide that they all are gay. This is absolutely not true and not the case! Females are more than welcome to attend. They have always been welcome from the beginning of the event nine years ago. No females ever attend, but they would be more than welcome. The problem is that we only have a couple of women who frequent this board to even know about SunSplash. Should you want to organize a thongers event for strictly heterosexual men and women, then I would say "go for it". I wish you the very best of luck.

Re:SUNSPLASH VIII (8th Annual Thonger's Weekend), July 27-29, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Sunsplash is held at a small gay friendly hotel, because that's where they first found space and thaught men would not be ostrsised or laughted at for wearing thongs. While the crowed at the host hotel tends to be only men, I know a number of straight guys who go, including me. As far as hotels, right next door is the W where you will find more of a mixed crowed.

However the best place to meet women is ON THE BEACH. I encourage everyone who attends to spend as much time on the beach as possible, and to take a walk or run along to meet other people. To this end I have started hosting a free breakfast/brunch on the beach to get people out beyond the walls of the hotel and out onto the beach early, when the sun is still out and not too hot. (During the summer the mid-day can get rather hot, and later it often clouds over a bit with light showers.)

BeinDotado, - Organizing what you call a "straight people" event is near impossible, because the only people who want to go are the guys. The guys are the shy ones needing an "event".  The "straight" women just put on a thong and go to the beach, either with a guy, or girlfriends, or just with family and friends. They don't need to travel to join a special mutual support group.

We had a few women come out to the Saturday beach brunch, but I guess people were having fun and nobody was taking pictures. Best not to take cameras and valuables to the beach where there is a lot of sand and salt water.  Back at the hotel is another story, because there is a fresh water pool, no sand, tables and chairs, and a security fence.

If your goal is to meet straight women, then put on a thong and go to the beach. Works for me, even at my age.  I don't go to Sunsplash to pickup chicks, I go to talk with fellow thongers, and have a few drinks and see some unusual thongs. The Sunspash crowed is diverse, and when you get to know them some of the people are rather interesting.

I also go to support the shy thongers: To help give them the courage to walk the block to the beach, and wear a thong in public. You may want to attend one or two Sunsplash events before starting a new one, just to see what works and what does not, and ask the folk involved how it could be improved.

Humm...  I relize that none of you on the thong board are friends of mine on facebook... So you did not see the pictures of the boat load of women who kidnapped me last year and took me to Boca-Bash.... And at the moment the Aimoo personal picture album system is still broken, so I can't upload any pictures to my profile for you to see.

However, if I could show you the pictures from last years Boca Bash, the 4th of July parties, or just my neigours regular pool parties, they would show how most of the cute women in small swimsuits get invites to the fancy homes, fancy pool parties and fancy yachts, and don't need to sign up and pay, for a special event, just to meet men.

Even if they don't get invited to the weekend parties and boat rides, in this town half the beach bars will give them free drinks just for hanging out. There is no stigma for a women wearing a thong or other sexy suit, just apprication for their curves and style. Half the boys on the beach want to play frisbee with them. So why, other than curiosty, would women want to come to a thong swimsuit gathering?

Having said that, a few women came to my beach brunch last year, and more want to this year. (Maybe it is the free food and drink, and that I am a nice guy.)

Thanks for the quick feedback JM_Runs & luvnmythong Yes generally speaking women do not need to be "invited" to events to meet guys And in regards thonghing like JM says they'd just show up in a thong in any beach or pool without worrying about "support" And even though you guys say that the Sunplash event involve also straight guys still doesn't look like it...but I may check it out. Also important to mention : I am not into wearing thong swimsuits or underwear (I've never been ! ) However I do love to wear very skimpy swimsuits to the beach and pools (wear them almost all the time) I wear mostly rio back bikinis with very small coverage in the front & back (with about an inch on the sides) Usually I go to "normal" beaches in the South Florida area....no need to hide ! Funny how people react sometimes...a lot of them think they'll see a thong when they turn their heads ! I have lots of swimsuits and I am so happy that a skimpy non thong bikini style swimsuit is enough for me (no need to hide like most of you guys...ha ha ! ) I only have one thong swimsuit (Fits me well ,only bought it out of curiosity about 10 years ago....never wore it in public and most likely I never will ) I joined this forum because it's the closest forum I found to wearing my swimwear of choice. There are speedo forums out there but I prefer this one.Members are very supportive...Kudos for this forum ! Generally speaking it sucks to see most guys in dork shorts and all the double standards This forum is very useful ,telling us what beaches are best to go for minimal swimwear wearing And yes I have met a few females on the beach wearing only my swimsuit ! I encourage all thongers in the Miami / Ft Lauderdale area to wear their thongs at "normal" beaches without hiding.South FLA is very tolerant with skimpy swimsuits And if you are too shy to wear your thong just do what I do : wear a skimpy rio bikini without hiding ! (at any beach) I even wore them at Venetian pool in Miami several times in crowded days (last time about a week ago...read my post : Search it by typing "Venetian" ) Looking forward to JM's Breakfast Brunch ! Cheers

I'm not gay and I would love to go, but unfortunately, I always have conflicts in my schedule during the time it is held. It does not bother me if some or most of the guys going are gay. I have many gay friends whose friendship I value. Still don't see how someone can look at pictures and say all the guys are gay, especially if no sex acts are pictured. If you saw me in a thong or g-string you might say the same thing and you would be very wrong.

I truly apologize if I offended some people when I posted my comments in regards the Sunsplash events. However I still think a lot of the guys that go there are gay and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Easy to tell by just looking at the pictures: they are exhibitionists that wear special thongs that enhance their penises and bulges (we all know the names : "pistol thong " ,"torpedo thong ",etc) Unfortunately exhibitionists like these give the rest of thong wearers and minimal swimwear wearers a bad reputation ! (I am not the only one that says it....others in this forum have said the very same thing .As an example read the Naples article recently written ! ) Plenty of straight guys at Sunsplash too Why can just every guy wear a "plain" thong and be happy with it without being an exhibitionist ? (regardless of their sexual orientation) Peace everybody !

Now I'm really confused... it's "easy to tell" someon's sexual orientation based on what they're wearing? And there's "nothing wrong with" being gay, but you apprently need to continue to point it out...? I don't disagree with the point that certain exhibitionist-type suits do more harm then good when it comes to overall acceptance, but the pictures you're citing are taken from a private event in a closed resort full of like-minded people. Seems to me like a good opportunity to wear the stuff that wouldn't go over so well in the everyday situations, if one is so inclined. So, maybe not the best example to use. To put it simply, it is what it is. If you're not interested you're not interested, but I don't get the need to over-analyze/judge those who are.

Seriously? : 'The "straight" women just put on a thong and go to the beach, either with a guy, or girlfriends, or just with family and friends.'....??? Really? Its it that simple for a woman? I'm guessing no woman on this board, has seen fit yet to comment on how easy it is to just throw on a thong and go to the beach with family and friends... As, to the style of a man's thong defining his sexuality... No, I don't think so either. It seems likely from this board and limited personal experience, that gay men are just as apprehensive about wearing thongs at public locations as straight men. I think it may be natural for non-thongers (or at least those who have not been exposed to many men in thongs, or pictures of them) to think that a suit that emphasizes a guy's junk, particularly bulge or torpedo suits, might assume they are gay... but only because as a 'straight man', I was predisposed to do so when I first saw them years ago... After many years I see 'them' i.e. male genital hugging/shaped/shaping/'enhancing' suits, as a statement of masculinity and confidence, a welcome balance to the minimal contour hugging female beach attire that many 'straight' men appreciate seeing. They are also a loud 'fuck you' to our society's attempts to make us confirm to its 'norms' - what ever they happen to be at the moment... Why do people insist of blending in with the crowd? Why would you not want to be remembered for who you are and as opposed to forgotten for how you conformed? How many chances at 'living' do you really think you will have? If not now, when? JP

You ask if it is true that "The 'straight' women just put on a thong and go to the beach, either with a guy, or girlfriends, or just with family and friends. Really? Its it that simple for a woman?" I don't know if you were trying to be sarcastic, but my answer is YES. YES it is that simple for women, at least in a beach town where I live now, and for tourists in the Islands where I lived before. On the beach I have met thousands of women who wear very cheeky bikinis or thongs, and I have women friends who go to the beach. I don't even need to go to the beach to see women in thongs, because many are friends on facebook. It is the weekend and the sun is out, so by nightfall some will have posted pictures of themselves happily thonging on the beach.

MyBareAs... I concur. Wearing what best expresses my vibe on a given visit to beach, pool, or resort is what I subscribe to. Be it bulge, tiny, daring, it's all good. If I lived in fear I would cower to the invisible preceived dictates of the morality police and wear dork shorts. As things are... I've been wearing Speedos and substantially less since 1961. I wear what can accommodate my open water swimming challenges since then. For those of you who have never had to struggle with huge waves, strong storm currents, or bad storm weather, or better had to tread water for great distances and ocean conditions. FYI Olympic swimmers never wear board shorts. They know from many years of living in pools that too much material may well fatigue a swimmer who must stay afloat or swim many miles to rescue himself from maritime disaster. For prudish idiots who don't understand the reality of open water survival wearing less constitutes less drag and less expenditure of essential calories to survive a potential death by drowning. Wake up. I had had to save a few lives of weak swimmers. I was wearing appropriate (small) swimwear. I'm an extremely strong swimmer. Many years of ocean swimming. If what I wear may not be acceptable to observers, I don't care. If I have to save you are drowning you will have few complaints about what I wear to pull your stupid butt out of certain death.  FIN
