Made it out to Seabright beach for the first time this year this past weekend. The weather was quite warm 80' as we were having a heat wave. I arrived around 9AM and set up closer to the lighthouse. I was wearing a turquoise thong and within a few minutes a couple set up about six feet from me. She was wearing an red thong bottem and a white top and husband or bf was wearing trunks. I did see two other men one in a thong and the other in a g string. There was one other lady by herself that wedge her bottem into a thong. I took a walk to the lighthouse and was photographed a couple of time by a group of girls. Have to wait till the weather heats up again to go back.

20897,

I too visit Santa Curz once a year at around the end of July.  We rent a cabin in Felton next to the San Lorenzo River and I have worn my thong and Speedo type bikini at small secluded river beach.  Is Seabright the only beach that is thong freindly?

luv2thong,

I usually only go to Seabright beach because the fog tends to clear in that area first. Sometimes I go to Bonny Doon. Most of the people there are nude.

I was at Seabright beach yesterday and the weather was great. It was in the mid 80's with very little wind. There were only a couple dozen people out and I was the only one wearing a thong but that didn't bother me. Took a walk to the yacht harbor lighthouse and was greeted with friendly smiles and some hellos. The only problem this time of the year is that the water is really cold.

I was at Seabright a couple weeks ago.  Laid out in my thong for a while with no issue.  I didn't see any other thongers out but it wasn't that warm either.  I've seen thonger out here in SC before but not at this time of year.  I'm hoping when the weather get warmer the sunloving thongers will come out of their hide outs.  I did see 1 girl wearing some cute little cheeky booty shorts, but that was about it.  As a former LA person, it's a little dissappointing compared to Venice, but I enjoy SC anyways.  Here's to hoping the thong population increases in Santa Cruz. :]

I too go to Seabright in g-strings without any problems.  I've been hassled by cops on the main beach asking me for ID to check if I'm a sex offender. I was WTF and told him were he could put his ID.

Occasionally there are a couple of guys and even fewer women in thongs there.

Asking your for ID without probable cause is clearly against the law.  I would write a complaint to the city and police department.

Santa Cruz is a strange place.

I graduated from UC Santa Cruz. SC county is a very liberal place. The campus for example has no dresscode which means you can wear whatever you want, or nothing at all. Women have protested in year's passed to be legally allowed to sun topless. Police refuse to arrest them 'cause then they have a legal right to speak with a judge who can overturn the local ordinance which to my knowledge it's still illegal for a woman to be topless in county beaches and although rarely enforced, some prick of a copper feels is his duty to site/harrass these women and or men who sun in a gstring. I have seen firsthand men and women topless or wearing gstrings on the boardwalk, with cops present and no one paying attention. Maybe it wasn't summer or busy weekend. Santa Cruz IS a touristy town and many outsiders get weirded out with the homeless/druggies downtown and the boardwalk and maybe new politicians are more interested in making tourists comfortable than keeping locals happy.

On the other hand, refusing to comply with a request for ID can lead to a plausible arrest or detention. A cop does not have to prove "probable cause", he can simply write in his report that you were acting "suspiciously". If you have no one to testify on your behalf then it's your word against the officer. If he says that you were touching yourself, then it's gonna be an uphill battle to prove that you were not. If you have done nothing wrong then there is nothing but the inconvenience of being accosted by an officer. The fact is, you are violating a local ordinance. He can ask you to move/cover up and site you. Cops are generally stupid people who have been trained like a dancing bear. They know how to get a rise out of you. They want to shake you to see what falls out.  Stay calm, show him your ID, smile. If he asks you to leave, leave. Don't argue. Take it to the judge. Don't argue with him! Explain yourself. Calmly. Intelligently. Local legislators are not much brighter than cops also. They don't really write local laws/ordinances. The cut and paste from some other community. They do not really have the checks and balances of the state and federal governments and if the judge says that the local ordinance is the local community moral standard then you can ask intelligently how was that determined. A city attorney or county supervisors can have an agenda different than the community's. Santa Cruz is perfect for this. The county is liberal. The local code still is in parts fascist. A lot of people over the years have chipped away at it so that it better reflects the true ethos of the community and not some righteous cop or mayor.

Hi,

I just got a few sets of WW bikinis from my husband. I lived along the Peinsula in the Bay Area and would like wear my new WW bikinis in Santa Cruz.

Can I wear a WW thong bikini on the Main Beach in Santa Cruz? They are not very sheer or anything but have a g-string back. Is it allowed? Will I be stopped by the law?

Will there be other ladies wearing thong bikinis as well on that beach?

You probably will not have any problems on the main beach but my wife and I prefer to go to Sea Bright beach. It is the next beach south of the main beach before the yacht harbor. I have been going there for years and have never had a problem with the beach patrol.

I will go to both the Main beach and the Sea Bright beach and take a look.

Do they both have the same people density and have the same crowd typically?

I have been wanting to take some time off and get some beach time in this summer.  Last week I left for a trip down the California coast.  I got a late start, so decided to make the first stop at Seabright beach in Santa Cruz.  It has probably been at least 10 years since I was there last.  Arriving in the late morning last Tuesday, the beach was overcast, cool and breezy.  Around 1:30 or so the sun finally came out, and I stayed until about 4:30. There were not many other beach goers out, which was probably to be expected, given that it was a weekday and cool.  I setup down towards the lighthouse end of the beach, and found the beach clean and comfortable.

I left Seabright in the afternoon and headed on down the coast to Venice beach.  I was hoping for warm, sunny weather in Venice over the 4th of July weekend, unfortunately it was the same or cooler than in Santa Cruz.  I spent a couple of days in Venice, and one morning when by 1:00 the sun still had not appeared, I checked the satellite picture; saw that it was sunny in Long Beach (about 45 minutes away) and decided to head down there.  It also was cool and breezy, but at least the sun was out.  Spent the next day in Long Beach, and then back to Venice.

The sun was out the next day (Sunday) in Venice, but it was still breezy and cool.  There were a lot of people out on the beach.  Unfortunately, the whole time I was in Venice and Long Beach, I saw no one else at the beach in micro swimwear (first time that’s ever happened).  I guess the weather was just not warm enough to get the locals out.  Again checked the satellite and weather maps and it looked like it was now warmer and sunnier in Santa Cruz than in Venice, so I decided to head back to Santa Cruz for my last beach day of the trip.

Arriving the next day at Seabright, the sun was out and it was hot (finally).  Again went to the lighthouse end of the beach and setup.  The beach had quite a few people by early afternoon.  I stayed from about 11:00 until 5:00, and spent the whole time in a “g” this time also.  Unfortunately, it was again a little disappointing that there was no one else there in a thong or micro-wear.  The beach patrol drove by a couple of times.  Once when I turned over, I noticed the beach patrol parked behind me with his binoculars pointed in my direction; but there were no hassles-so no worries.

All-in-all I had a really good time at Seabright.  I usually go to a Pacifica or San Francisco beach or an SF park for micro-sunning opportunities because they are a little closer, and so I don’t  have to deal with the hwy 17 beach traffic on weekends.  My son likes to surf in Santa Cruz, so I am thinking that maybe I can take him to his surfing spot in Santa Cruz on a weekend and let him surf with his friends for the day; while I head over to Seabright.  Besides, watching him wait for waves is not a good spectator sport, and he doesn’t really like having a parent watching over him all the time in front of his buddies.

Looks like Seabright is a good place to thong. It would be nice to see a few others there as well.

Went to Seabright Beach again yesterday.  The weather was perfect, not crowded and temps in the 70's.  Spent most of the afternoon and got in a good session of beach reading.  No other thongers around and one girl went topless very briefly.  I posted some more info and photos in my blog.  Have made it out about half a dozen times to beaches in the SF Bay area so far this summer, but for what ever reason the number of thongers and topless seems to be way down.

i did a little thonging on santa cruz main beach, far west of the part where it is blocked by the cliff. i searched for other thongers but couldnt find any definitive ladies wearing thongs. they were however, lying on their back so i wasnt 100% sure what they had on. i setup near some girls and got some smiles and possibly photos but that was all. i didnt stay long and due to the nature of the town, i dont think SC is the best thonging destination in CA, but it is definitely acceptable. i had police patrol by many times without issue.

Did ladies ever go topless and/or thong on the beach between the Amusement park and the pier?  Or, on the other side, I guess it would be the north side of the pier between the pier and the cliff?

We are having our first heatwave of the summer and the beach was great today in Santa Cruz. I was at my favorite spot at Sea Bright Beach for about 5 hours. The water was freezing but that is normal and the surf was pounding at 6 to 8 feet. The lifeguards had to rescue 3 people from the surf. Didn't see any one else around me wearing a thong, but that didn't bother me.

Another great day in Santa Cruz today. The surf was less than half the size of last week. Lots of sun 75-80 degrees with a nice breeze. September is my favorite month to go to the beach. The crowds are small and there is less fog.

Perfect day at Sea Bright Beach today. The sky was clear and the temp was around 75 degrees. Took a walk to the lighthouse/yacht harbor a couple of times today. I received a lot of smiles and no negative comments. One couple really like my turquoise blue thong as they both smiled and stared for 10 to 15 minutes as I was standing at the waters edge. As I was leaving, I notice a guy in a purple thong and one other that was wearing a gstring or was nude couldn't tell.

I thought i'd give an update of Santa Cruz, CA. and specifically Sea Bright Beach. Because we get a lot of fog in norcal, I always check the webcam at http://www.santacruzharbor.org/harborCams/harborMainChannel.html before driving to the beach.

I was there yesterday from 11am to 4pm and decided to set-up in the middle of the beach instead of closer to the lighthouse. I was the only one wearing a thong but that never bothers me. As the day went on, I noticed that most of the people that set-up next to me and in back of me were all women which was great. I guess they liked what they saw. Most seem to be college girls from UC Santa Cruz.

I had my photo taken 4 times that I know of and 2 women actually asked. The ones who asked really liked that my thong sparkled at the back with the rhinestone connector. I have a bunch of them posted in my profile. Like JM says, I have had my photo taken many times but have not seen any on the internet besides the ones I posted on this site.

I think today was the last day of the season around here and it was perfect. The sky was blue, the water was cool (the water is always cool all year around), and the surf big (6 to 8 feet). The best part of the day was the eye candy set up all around me. There were 3 women in thongs and one was topless most of the day. I was the only male wearing a g-string but that never bothers me. I have been going to this beach for the last 20 years and have never been hassled. Great way to end the season!!!

When school lets out Cowell's beach will be crowded.  And also the junior lifeguards start up at several beaches.   Seabright (closer to the lighthouse) is better for a little solitude.  Also there will occasionally be more people in skimpy suits or topless.  I work in Santa Cruz and occasionally go on my lunch hour.

had a wonderful day at seabright a couple of days ago. funny how oh so casually people make their way over to check out what I was wearing; in this case a mom and her kid and her girlfriend meander over back and forth until they were right in front of me talking and pretending I wasn't there. I pretended they weren't there either and minded my own business, turning back and forth to avoid sunburning. would have gone for a dip but I will next time. maybe next wed.

Some ladies in cheeky bottoms, three with thongs, myself and another guy down the beach doing our part. not a lot of days left of warm weather and beach weather comes late to central california; thinking of moving back down to So Cal.

Went to Seabright beach on Sunday.  Beautiful day, warm and sunny with a slight breeze.  I wore an Ebabee g-string towards the southern end of the beach up next to the edge of the surf zone.  There were quite a few people at the beach, but it was not as crowded as I thought it might be for such a warm day.  I got there early around 10:30 and stayed until about 4:00.  Since it was probably the last time I will be able to get to Santa Cruz this year I wanted to make the most of it.  The lifeguard patrol pickup drove by a couple of times and once they stopped about 20 feet away and a lifeguard got out and took a series of panorama shots of the bay.  It looked like she might have got me into a couple of her pics.  She was wearing a 1/4 back suit and looked great in it.  The only other thong I saw was on a girl who briefly stood up, she was in the small dunes up next to the cliff and away from everyone.  Later on, the SC Police patrol stopped and busted the couple next to me.  They were feeding the seagulls and had alcohol (beer) on the beach.  They were given a lecture and made to pour the beer out. Afterwards I decided to head to Manuel's in Rio del Mar for a couple of Margaritas.  Nice small place with some of the best salsa (their own concoction) you can find anywhere.

Got out to Cowell's beach yesterday with my new Koala Slut thong.   I set up on the right side of the pier a reasonable distance from anyone.  After about 30 minutes a German/Austrian couple and their about 12 year old son set up close by.  Typical European, he was about 50 and she was about 30 and drop dead gorgeous.   Anyway got the courage to get up to go to the water a couple of times.  There were a couple of single women that set up by me and one seemed to be looking at her phone in my direction and it looked like she was taking pictures.  The flash going off is a dead giveaway.  Was a pretty relaxing afternoon.

"Cops are generally stupid people who have been trained like a dancing bear."  "Asking for ID without probable cause is clearly against the law, you should file a complaint".    Really?  Did it ever occur to you that the reasons cops "harass" you may be because some other "stupid" citizen called the police invoking their response and the Officer was pissed off that he had to go to another stupid call that is a total waste of his time and skill.  Don't be na?ve, Police Officers don't come from some foreign planet they come from the same communities you and I do and have the same problems you and I do.  The only difference is they were not always a cop as they were not born cops so they understand what it’s like to not be a cop and what it’s like to be a cop.  The general public does not.  Cops are people just like you and me and like all professions are subject to having a diverse cross section of people represented including the stupid the smart, the physically fit, the out of shape, great communication skills, poor communication skills, etc...  Policing in this country is largely reactive in nature.  Most of the time, police contact you because of a call they received about you or someone who looks like you in the area.  Don't take it personally just act like a decent human being and MOST of the time they will treat you the same.  It’s not rocket science and this concept applies in many aspects of life, however, Cops are probably some of the most stereotyped people in the Country because they wear uniforms making them all look similar.  They are Dads, Moms, Brothers, Sisters, community volunteers, have their own hobbies just like everyone else and just because they all have the same goal  to work to make maintain the structure of our society does not they are all the same.  If you go to the doctor and he acts like a jerk are you going to say that all doctors are corrupt, fascist, etc because they make a lot of money and have knowledge you don't have, of course not.  Wake up and get outside your bubble.  You think some cop cares about thong laws?  It’s the whiny people who complain to their local or state governments (special interest groups) to enact these stupid laws and then to police are forced to enforce them when a complaint is made or face discipline for derelict of duty and a filing of a formal complaint against the officer by the caller to claims the officer did not do their job.  See, both sides of the coin, get bashed for doing your job and get bashed when you don't do it.  That's American Law Enforcement, being stuck in the middle of society's problems and opposing beliefs and taking all the crap for it.   By the way, it’s not illegal for a police officer to ask for your ID without probable cause.  You just don't have to give it to him.  But as stated above, cooperate if you are doing nothing wrong so you don't arouse suspicion and let the poor guy or gal do their job and they will leave you alone and let you get on with your day.    Learn the law.   Go on a few police ride outs to learn what the police are really about.  You cant base your opinions on one or two encounters with the police, social media blogs, incomplete videos on you tube or what you see in the movies.

Great weather this week in Santa Cruz.  I went for a swim today at the gym and there were two women in cheeky suits sunning themselves.  Hopefully this is a sign of people adopting the latest style in swimwear.   If there are enough women out there in cheeky suits I may be tempted to wear my Joe Snyder mini cheeks.  You may recall the last summer I was admonished for wearing my Joe Snyder mini cheeks at the pool because of "children" even though the swim instructor was wearing pretty much the same thing.

Made it out to Cowells beach (west of the pier today).  As I was walking through the small parking lot there were two young women (early 20's) in thongs and short t-shirt barely below the waist that exposed their thongs.  Wherever they parked they walked to the beach showing great butts.  I was only there for a couple of hours but saw several women in thongs and a couple in g-strings.  Of course I was the only guy in thong.  Red joe snyder bulge.

Hey, thongs and cheeky swimwear seem to be gaining popularity on Santa Cruz beaches! At least on social media. Can't say if these "instagram famous" people are making a dent overall. After all, NorCal beaches seem... cold! For example, I needed a wetsuit on Ocean Beach in San Francisco, 60 miles up the coast (as the crow flies). Then again, they have cheeky wetsuits now, too— a pretty damn flattering fashion trend for sporty people.

Supposed to be 103 in Santa Cruz today.  Gotta get out and into the water.  Was at Seabright beach last weekend and only saw one thong.  Might go to Cowells today or maybe Seabright.

If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly.
First paste it into notepad or other basic ascii editor so that the formatting codes are removed, then cut again. This will give you clean posts.
