Do any other guys on this board shave their legs? Also, what do women think about guys with shaved legs?

I or shave in the summer time.  Usually use clippers on no-guard, or a 1.  Never gotten complaints from women. I used to race bikes, so would shave back then as well.

I generally shave my legs in summer, and am considering making it a year round look. I use my body hair trimmer, so it's not 100% smooth, but definitely shaved. Can't speak to women's opinions, since I am Gay, but my last boyfriend certainly didn't have a problem with it

String_guy, your wife might hate it because shaving becomes prickly and it's the opposite of smooth...If you waxed the difference would be dramatic and perhaps she changes her opinion.
If she hates it just because of your looks, well, then just let her have it.

I shave from "nose to toes".  I've had nothing but complements about my shaved, tanned legs.  I usually wear shorts with a 2" to 3" inseam.

One of the reason I stopped shaving my legs is that prickly feeling I get the day after. Would waxing help prevent this from happening?

If we are going to rule our lives and decisions on what women think and their approval, we would probably become like a Barbie doll with a package. The reality is that a man who shaves his legs and does it just because he likes it and he wants it, shows that he is different and doesn't live his life based on the approval of others.
Many women might say "I don't like a man who shaves his legs..... but I must admit he has personality"...
And if you look around, a lot of women who usually praise the men who do what women like or want, end up with alpha males who don't give a damn about that and just do what they want.I know this example is out of the topic, but a bit similar to what happens when you were young and asked the girl permission to kiss her.....  so romantic, and respectful, and boring to her..If you just kiss her, she would probably slap you, call you a pig, but secretly adore you.

I shave everything from the neck down, year round.  My wife loves me being smooth.  We love the feel of our bodies rubbing together when we're both completely smooth.  If you haven't tried that, you should.  I, like Wacymac, wear short shorts very frequently.  I'm aware that I "look" different than most guys with hairy legs (well, the calves anyhow, since that's all you will ever see on most guys in today's shorts).  But the truth is I like being different, and smooth legs in short shorts is my thing.  I enjoy going back (in my mid-thigh workout shorts) to the lady who trims my hair and refers to me as "the guy with the perfect legs".  The comments are sometimes directly to me, other times I hear them behind my back, mostly good ones, occasional cut downs from guys who obviously think they are better than me, or young teens.  I have no problem being the only guy in the crowd with smooth legs.  Whatever style you choose, just wear it with confidence.  Some will like it and others won't.  This works the same if you decide to shave your legs.

I shave from the neck down too and have been for about 10 years now.  Wife isnt thrilled with it but I love it for cycling, swimming and it is much easier to put oil on when sunning.  No one has every made a negative comment in the locker room or any where, but then again I am 6'5" tall so most people probably wouldnt say anything negaitve to me.

I raced mtn bikes for several years and was an avid road cyclist so I always kept my legs smooth. Got busy with life and out of the saddle so I let my hair grow back out. A couple weeks ago I shaved it all again and have found time to get in the saddle. I never really had anyone say anything derogatory and I wear shorts almost all the time. I did have a female friend comment on them and she said the hair was hiding my great legs (which I don't have much hair anyway). The other thing I've started to do is paint my toenails. Nothing flashy, usually a clear with some pearl or a light pink. I'm more self-conscious about the painted toes than I am about the shaved legs. I guess because I can explain the shaved legs as a cycling thing. I've only had a couple people ask about my toes and I just say I felt like doing it to see what people's reactions would be.

I shave my legs and everything else except my forearms and head. After staying smooth all over for the past 10-12 years, it's become completely natural and doesn't seem like a lot of work. It's neater, cleaner, more comfortable and definitely looks better. My wife likes it and the only comment I've heard was from our family doctor......a very pleasant young woman who's seen pretty much all of me at one time or another: "nice tan, use sunscreen and wear a hat".

I get my legs, glutes and thighs waxed every 6 weeks: I'm a cyclist, runner, swimmer, triathelete and try to look hot naked. Everything else gets shaved regularly too.

Being hair free also helps with cooling, injury treatment, massage, and a small aerodynamic and hydrodynamic benefit too.

Yes, I shave my legs, arms and everything else from the neck down. I mostly use an epilator. Painful the first time but not bad later, as long as you keep after it. Some of the hairs break, I have it a lot around my knees. I wear shorts to work all summer and only once has anyone asked or noticed. A young male co-worked asked if I shaved my legs. While I wasn't sure if there was a good answer, I said "yes'. He said "Nothing wrong with it, I just wondered" Don't know if he was interested in it himself or what. He didn't last long anyway. I wear a short sleaved shirt to work and only a tank top when I go shopping etc. I'm sure lots of people have seen my bare pits, just as all my neighbors have seem my bare butt. We worry too much about this stuff.

I like everything shaved or waxed. I wear shorts a lot of the time as I'm a runner & cyclist, as well as coaching a rugby team and I do my legs and arms regularly. Nobody I know seems to mind or ask any awkward questions, although many of them must have noticed. Don't feel comfortable hairy any more.

I shave most of my body back, neck, face, stomach, legs, bum, testicles, shaft, and trimmed runway for low rise skimpy swimsuits.. Most women don't really like it they find it way to feminine and gross (there words not mine). Carmen Electra once was asked what type of guy she was attracted to. They said was it a chippendale dancer, she couldn't be more disgusted with those guys. Nobody really gonna directly say it to you if you shave your legs but many detest it for a man. Some woman have fun with there boyfriend stroking there hairy leg while smiling at them when i'm standing nearby. They both don't need to say anything but smile at each other when i'm around them both knowing what they are thinking about me.
Some women are shocked when they see a guy with hairless legs they sometimes ask someone else if they are seeing it or just imagining it. Women's dogma is always men have hairy bodies so they shouldn't groom themselves like women do.  Just as a guy got pedicure and his toes were colored in nail polish. Or had press on nails in clear color. Those things women find really weird and stay away from any stranger who they don't know who take part in shaving.
What i've observed myself from many gals is they may find it threatening to look as smooth and clear complexion with flawless looking toned legs which they envy so much. Some can't believe it and said to others that my legs look good. Others have countered back saying, "ya they look good only if he is was girl". Laughter erupts making them feel better about themselves.
As for getting rid of red bumps. Exfoliate or clean your skin before you shave because the bacteria unclean skin goes under the skin pores while you shave and later on comes back in red bumps. Learn how to shave with a clean sharp razor and don't shave everyday.
Looking maybe possibly shaving my chest what do people think of that?

Re:Shaved legs

ask your girlfriend or partner;  my wife used to do it for me when I used to shave.
That's another of the advantages of waxing.    Apart from saving time (it used to take me 40 minutes to shave my whole body, twice a week), there is no more itching and prickle when the hair grows back in (only) 2 days, no more cutting and pimples, and no more having to ask her to shave my back;  she was sometimes busy, and obviously I used to stay with a hairy back after we had a fight.
I'm lately pinching my wife's waxing strips to keep the brazilian area hair free;  my beautician does a great job but that area grows quite faster.  Using the waxing strips is great for maintenance.
After embracing waxing, it is great to feel completely independent.

You can tape a razor to a stick (like a back scratcher). Every now and then I work up a rig with my epilator and a metal yard stick.

FYI- I didn't go from furry to smooth overnight. About 3 years ago I bought a trimmer and cut 75% of the hair of my arms and legs. I still had hair but only 1/4 inch (maybe less) long. Nobody seemed to notice so after a month of the nasty hot humid weather we get in MD, I took it all off. Just like you don't HAVE to go from dork shorts to a g-sting, you don't have to go smooth all at once.

Used to wax from the neck down.  Started with shaving.  Now I am in the middle of laser hair removal.  After three treatments there are EXTREMELY noticeable results.  I go to Ideal Image.  They are a chain mostly in the SE US.  Six more treatments to go and I am confident that I will be happy with the end results.  Right now I only get regrowth from fine hairs and light colored hairs (blond and gray).  The blond and gray will never go away.  Is a cost effective method the earlier in life you get it done and the more body parts that you do at the same time.  Also, you will have fewer gray hairs when you are younger.  ;)

@tguy - yes, from the neck down.  If there is hair below the neck it is getting lasered.  Everything, including bikini and genitals.  The only place that I have been blessed without hair is my back.  The facility prescribed me a numbing cream that I use in various places, otherwise, yes it would be a little painful.  The ironic thing is that the more painful places are the spots right on bone or hard cartilage such as the Adam's apple.  That hurts a lot.

I love the hairless feeling.  Originally I started out getting Brazilian waxes and started thinking "OK, so if you get a Brazilian, you may as well shave your legs."  Then it progressed to my chest, and then I thought "If you shave your chest, you may as well do the same with your arms."  Presto, I'm set with the hairless look.  Nobody has commented about the lack of leg hair really, but a couple of women have told me my legs looked better shaved and they wished other guys would do it.

The best look...Shaved all over with a thong tanline!

It took me a long time to get the guts to shave my legs and the rest of my body, but once I did it I couldn't stop. It just felt so good! I found that living the fantasy is much better than imagining it. Sure I hear a few nagative comments now and then, but I've heard a lot more positive ones, mostly from guys who wish they could do it. I feel and look better totally smooth. Going to the beach wearing a micro g-string totally shaved is a wonderful experience.

I was about 27 when I was totally comfortable shaved year round, and 29 when I started shaving my armpits (from demand of my then fiance , now my wife!). So, now I shave EVERYTHING smooth from neck to toe :)

I've been shaving my pubes, my ass and the area around my navel for the last few months. Somehow, I came to thinking that a mostly bare upper body would look quite silly with hairy legs, especially at the beach, where the most I want to wear is a speedo. So before going to the beach, I shaved my legs: the feeling is wonderful! I think I'll stay smooth, at least during the summer.

Last summer I began shaving my arms, chest and stomach.  Then I took the plunge and purchased an epilator from local Target store.  Hurt like a mother but the results were amazing.  The first 24 hrs after epilation there is some irritation but after that I am silky smooth for a couple weeks.  I then began using the epilator on my pubic region with the same excellent results.  Then I moved to my upper thighs with hopes of one day getting the nerve to do my legs completely.  Last November, I took the plunge and epilated my entire body from my neck down.  Love the look and feel of being smooth.  The epilator does an excellent job but misses some of the finer hair.  My method is to epilate one day.  Shave with razor in shower entire body the next day.  Silky smooth to the touch for 7-10 days.  After 7-10 days, you can feel a little bit of stubble but you still look totally smooth.  After 3 weeks there is some regrowth but you still look completely smooth.  At week 3 or 4 I usually go over my body again with the epilator and being the process again.  My wife thinks I am crazy (she is right) but I  think she is warming up to the idea of me being smooth all over.  She seems to enjoy rubbing her legs against mine in bed.  Always the beginning of a great evening!  You can see my smooth body pics on Flickr.  I am ncthonger on Flickr as well.  If you aren't my friend already, request to be my friend and I will gladly add you.

I use a Phillips Body Groomer regularly, on my chest, butt, thighs and legs and as far round my back as I can reach. For the genital areas I use a multiblade wet razor, Gillette or similar with shaving foam and a little hair conditioner to reduce any razor bumps. All works well for me and produces a smooth appearance from neck to toes, looks great with a **** ring, micro thong or G and a little application of sun-screen. All I need now is some sunshine.

I have a Phillips body groomer but the stubble you feel the same day after using is what everyone is trying to avoid.  I got a tip on using my epilator from a guy on Flickr that said NOT to use a razor after epilation but to keep using the epilator every few days to get the hairs that were missed the first time.  Sometimes the epilator breaks the hair off rather than pulling it out from the root.  These 'breaks' are what grows back and creates the stubble.  By using this method, I have noticed a big difference in my smoothness and the regrowth is a lot less.  Nothing better than mingling my smooth legs against my wife's smooth legs in bed.

Last November marked 12 months of my body being smooth from my neck to my toes.  In late Nov. 2013, I purchased a Tria home laser hair removal device from www.triabeauty.com  I used it quite often for about 2 months and then got lazy over the winter. I can say, that the laser has most definitely reduced and slowed the hair regrowth on my body.  The areas of my body that I have gone over at least 5 times with the laser shows very little regrowth at all and what does regrow, is much thinner and hardly noticeable to the eye.  If I shave my legs now, after about 2 days, you can feel a little stubble, but then after about 4 days the stubble feel goes away and I feel and look smooth.  I can go a full 2 weeks without shaving and I still look smooth, but if you look real close, you can see some thin hair regrowth.  I highly recommend this device if you want to be hair free forever!  I will get back to using it more this spring and summer to achieve being 100% hair free with ZERO regrowth.  Nothing better than the feeling of legs after they have been shaved silky smooth. I desire to feel that year round without the hassle of shaving or waxing.
