I've been wearing short shorts with inseams 2" or less and split seams for over 60 years and have had few negative comments in all those years, most comments are positive.  All it takes as a positive attitude and confidence that you are the one who is dressed properly.  I have dressed in them everywhere, whether it be the supermarket, hardware store, university classes or anywhere else I please.  During all those years and the places I have lived I had no problems whether it be in Minnesota, Arizona, South Carolina or the UK, Australia, Saudi Arabia or other states and countries.  Of course in the Middle East it was in compounds and not on the streets - I'm confident but not crazy.  I get really tired of men thinking that a 5" inseam is short and that shorts below the knee are stylish.  The only way that real short shorts will become the norm again is when men with a positive attitude and reasonably good body's start to wear them with confidence and ignore the possible comments from narrow minded fashion followers or teenagers frightened of their bodies.  I even work in my yard and go to the community mailbox in a Dore Reo or similar swimsuit.  At home and while hiking the Oregon high desert I wear a thong or nothing at all.  Come on guys, show your confidence and short shorts, don't just talk about it.

I added some new pairs of shorts to my collection this spring that I wear for running in and/or as beach cover-ups. No one has mentioned them on  here but I ordered the Aussiebum Rugby shorts for pool and beachwear. They are 2" inseam w/o a mesh liner - perfect to wear over your bikini or thong suit. I also bought another pair of the Roadrunner Sports 5" compression short. They are great to run in, barely ride up and fit nice and snug; probably more like a 4" inseam. I wear these shorts on nearly all my runs. I have 4 pairs now.

My never ending search for new running shorts also includes checking out women's shorts and I hit the jackpot finding the Saucony Women's Performance Short. They are a loose fit, paper thin running short with a 3" inseam and inner liner. I've worn them on runs and they fit great, ride up just enough and really show off my bulge nicely yet discreetly. I wish they came in more colors than black.

I too have been wearing short shirts, pretty much all my life.  If  you look back 30 or 40 years most shorts for men would now be considered short.  I just never stopped wearing them.  I have found them to have become increasingly difficult to find.  I just discovered, however, that EastBay has a very large selection of fairly short running shorts, many with 2" inseams.  I received three pairs of them last week and love them.

I have tons of stuff from BodyAware and love their stuff. I have a pair of the Booty shorts and in the bright yellow color and the other day I decided to mow the yard in them and I gotta tell you it felt great. It was the shortest pair I have ever worn outside for an extended period of time. Now I just need to get up the nerve to wear my Skinz cover up split shorts.

Re:Short Shorts

Date Posted:05/11/2012 02:55:32Copy HTML

If I can't go about in my string (or naked) I wear these very short running shorts (not even  2" inseams) with split sides all the way up, no lining, nothing inside to support or cover the goodies. Turns me on, especially the slightly see through ones. Love to see how people ogle at me and especially when I can pick up they are discussing if my shorts are transparent or what one might see through the split sides. When you hear OMG you know they've got it.
I also got a pair of fairly long camo bermuda shorts, right over the knee. Before concluding these must be awful dork shorts you should know they are ultra low rise, pubes and some crack showing, even if I don't bend over. In fact, if I carry things in my pockets the base of my dick will show. Very nice to wear with a T that gets down just to the top of the shorts. With every movement I flash some skin. As an extra enigma I like to wear my camo thongs underneath, showing a slight wail tale. This leads to quite some speculation as to whether I'm wearing a thong as it tends to blend with the pattern of the bermuda.

While on vacation in FIji earlier this year, I came across these rugby shorts made by "Koo-GA".They are great, they go about a third the way up from the knees. These type of shorts are extremely hard to find in the U.S.When I go to local sporting goods stores all they seem to have are those god awful knee length or longer"shorts".These rugby shorts aregreat because they are masculine looking and have 2 front pockets and no lining. If anyone has seen anything similar available in the U.S. please let me know.

I have purchased several booty shorts from Bodayaware.  They make some that have a zipper down the side which my wife loves to unzip when we are in bed.  Skinzwear has some great cover up shorts that have a high slit side.  They are very comfortable when lounging around the house.

I bought some Joe Snyder bulge boxers recently, not the cheek shorts, and I wore them to 24 Hour fitness this morning. There weren't many people there so I really didn't get any stares. It was fun though, because I pulled them up a little and let some cheek hang out. I think I will start doing that more often.

Can anyone recommend a version of something like these, but built for a man's anatomy

I love the way these make the booty look, but there is obviously no room in the front.

I know about the joe snyder mini cheek, but are there any other men's styles that approach the above examples?

I have a pair of Booty2 shorts. They are nice :)

I don't own any Joe Snyder mini cheek boxers,
so I decided to buy some, since they were on sale.
Got one of each color:

They are $20.25 - the cheapest price I have ever seen for mini cheeks.
So I bought 3. I am excited to try them out at the beach.

I was coming out of a C-Store after paying for gas and there was a black lady standing beside her Dodge Magnum visibly upset. She was pointing the remote at it pushing the button and shaking the remote. As I walked by she asked if I could help her and that her remote would not work.
I suggested just opening the door with the key. She told me “the key be in the caw and this one don’t work”. I took the remote and saw the GM keys and asked her what the keys were for. She told me her Tahoe. I looked in the Dodge and saw the keys in the ignition with the remote. I explained to her that the remote for her Tahoe would not work on her Dodge. She replied “well they show look the same”. I asked if she had any spare keys and she told me they were at home. I told her she should call and have somebody bring her the spare keys and she said her phone was in the car. I offered her my phone and she called for someone to bring her keys. She handed me back my phone and thanked me.
As I started to leave she asked “can I say sump’m”? I told her yes and she said “who’s booty shotes is them” pointing to my low rise cut offs. These cut offs have less than a one inch inseam and are very short for guys standards but is how almost all of my cut offs are. I told her they were mine. She said “well I just thought we em be in sho shote, they might be yo wifes or daughters or sump’m”. I reassured her they were mine and that my wife cuts them off this short so I just wear them. She then said “well I ain’t used to seein no man in booty shotes but with those legs and that tan they show look good on you, I wish I had my phone cuz I’d take a pitcher”.
She is right in I seldom see guys in shorts much shorter than just above the knee. But much like wearing very small bikini swimwear (as I have shared in the Enjoying the Arizona Sun posting in the Personal Experiences section of this board) I wear short shorts without a second thought. All of my shorts are 1 inch or less inseam and most just barely cover my buns (some not quite). These are what I wear out and about to stores restaurants, and so forth.  I often hear comments about it. I figure it your shorts are below the knee, what’s the point?

Funny that this thread has popped up lately. Today I had a customer, a guy in his fifties come in wearing cut off jeans. They were cut off pretty short, but covered his ass and maybe 4 inches longer. Not short by our friend azcraig's standards. His legs were really long and very tan, maybe that is why they looked so short, anyway very short compared to knee length jean shorts of today.

All of my fellow workers took turns coming into the showroom so they could look and see him and then make fun and laugh after he left. I wanted to start a conversation with him about his choice of shorts, but I never had a chance because I had to wait on other customers. Another customer also made  a comment. Most applying that he must be sweet and asking if he asked me out on a date.

I couldn't keep my  mouth shut. I reminded them that in the late 60's and 70's all the guys wore cut offs that short or shorter including myself saying mine were even shorter. Reminding them just because fashion changes some people perfer the styles they grew up wearing and just because he was wearing something different and didn't mind being his own person meant it had to do anything with his sexual persuation. I told them it takes a lot of confidence and balls to go again current fashion and that I admired that very much. They weren't laughing anymore when I finished my little speach, but I don't know if I changed their opinions, but at least they knew mine. I only wished I could have made the same speach to the customer that was making fun. I hate you can lose your job if you speak your mind to customers and have to always be politically correct in the corporate world.

Watched the movie "Heartbreak Ridge" last night. Made in 1986.  The shorts that the marines were wearing in the movie were all short and tight.  The shorts looked like they probably had a 2" inseam or less.

Yesterday, while driving in suburban Philadelphia, I saw a young man wearing short shorts on a motorcycle. I couldn't tell how short because he was sitting down, but the bottom of his shorts were obscured by his jacket. Every time he stopped in traffic, I got a great view of his legs. He was clearly enjoying his ride.

I wear the 2" inseam shorts that I buy in the women's section of Target--Mossimo Supply.  At $17.95, they are a bargain and it makes me happy to wear them.

I do get some strange looks from people here in Houston.  I won't tie them to any particular group, but I do seem to think that these strange looks and snickering are from people who don't seem to be very smart--not that their reaction to my shorts makes me think that they are dumb, but the dull looks in their eyes makes me think that.

I have decided that I will wear the short shorts as much as possible to change the world's attitude about men wearing short shorts and to encourage the wearing of the my men.  Temperature wise, they are so much cooler than the standard men's skirt looking shorts so popular today.  I like the short shorts very much.

Sipper those target shorts are not swim shorts are they? Find old navy perfect khaki 5" or similar style fit well. Sort of not to short nor to long but what grandma would approve of. Lol...Own 1/2" inseam womans running split shorts which is my shortest athletic loose shorts i wear on public street, when heading to the beach. I have tan thru swimwear boxer briefs that are tight fitting which i wear walking from one beach to another on public street. Felt it wasn't to unusual seeing that I was close to the beach and some females wear bikini's crossing the road to a supermarket.

As for people looking dim witted towards you it just maybe puzzled confused stare. Doubt it has anything with inteligence. No need to label others but try to push forward through the pressure people bring on us wearing whatever we want.

While in a local Fry’s supermarket in about 1” inseam cut off denim shorts, a woman said to me “I had those shorts on earlier and put them in the wash just before I came here.” I told her that she didn’t have these shorts on because I had been wearing them all day. She agreed that she didn’t have those but some just like it. As I stood there we talked for a bit. Her: Well most men don’t cut their shorts off that short but with legs that nice and a tan like yours, I see why you are wearing them.
Me: My wife is the one that cuts these off so that is what I wear.
Her: Your wife cuts them off like that? So those are her shorts then?
Me: No these are mine she just cuts them off this short
Her: Well good for her. You can tell her to keep your shorts short because they look good on you
Me; Thank you, I will convey that message to her
Her: Yeah, most men wear their shorts down below their knees so to see someone in short shorts is refreshing…..Well you have a nice day. And she walked away wearing a short denim mini skirt and pink tank top. Then as I was standing in line waiting to check out the guy right behind me said “Well somebody is dressed for this heat”. As I turned around his wife said in a very complimentary tone, those are some nice shorts, they are probably the shortest ones you have. I thought for a moment and said “mmmm I am not sure, maybe not. She responded,  Really! Wow. The guy said well they scream self confidence. Daisy Duke would be jealous. I just smiled and started check out.As I approached my truck my daughter (that was in town visiting) told me that the girls in the car next to us when we pulled on were all taking pictures as I walked into the store. She then showed me some pictures she had taken with her phone. I put some of them in my images

I wear my very short shorts, about 1" inseam or less, everywhere, including Walmart, grocery stores, Home Depot etc and never a bad comment.  The younger people and illegals sometimes give me strange looks but older people never seem to care.  I'm 71 and in great shape.  Around my yard and to the post box across the street often wear a mini string bikini and only one neighbor has stopped talking to me.  Two teenager boys down the street have made disparaging comments but I just ignore them for now.  Next time they do I will go talk to them about respect for their elders and the shame they have for their body's with their below the knee fashionable "girls peddle pushers".  Remember them from the 50's & 60's?

The Goodwill store is a fine place to find short shorts, normally in the women's short section.  There has been a trend for young women to wear army colored short shorts, army green or sand colors, with webbing belts and more masculine styling. (Not pink and bows).  Since teen girls grow fast and go through cloths fast castoffs of this style are now popping up in the thrift stores.  While a man may have felt very out of place browsing the shelves of a teen girls store in the shopping mall, at a thrift store you can normally browse and try on any shorts you like and the only reaction is likely to be a raised eye brow or two.  Sizing is all over the place so you have to try them on.  Get them while you can before while the 'army' style short shorts are still plentiful.

I've got several pairs of those old "Aussie Rower" shorts from International Male that I purchased over 10 years ago.  Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore.  They cover a little more than a speedo and are about like those bunhuggers that female college and professional runners wear, but not as tight.  They're actually great for running.  Around here, I only wear them when trail running, usually with an old, worn out swim brief underneath them as underwear.  I would not ever be comfortable wearing them to my gym and when I'm on vacation in a place like Florida, I run the beach in a speedo or thong, so I don't need them there.

Onionsikin shorts were very light, floaty nylon rip-stop, the same fabric that is used to make small sailboat light air spinnakers.
The linked shorts are heavier, a dense poly knit, which is good because they fall back down in place.

As a shorter guy (5'6"), I wish shorter inseams would come back in fashion.  I hate having to alter my shorts so that they hit at or above the knee instead of at my upper calf.  As a boy in the 70's and 80's I remember virtually all men wearing short shorts.  Yet another way men have been desexualized by modern fashion.

I am looking for some shorts that look like the top of running tights, that are low cut to just around the pubic area and that are tight but a little stretchy and have a 4"-6" inseam.  I haven't been able to find anything that I am looking for.  I want to have a variety of colors too.  N2N has some tights that are similar to what I would want but they are longer than what i want.

Re:Short Shorts

My Desoto Carrera low rise tri-shorts almost fit your criteria, but they only come in a couple colors (royal blue and black; once offered in gray) and they have a compression fit.  They're relatively stretchy, but I'd guess not stretchy like you want.  In fact, I doubt the overall fit is what you want.  I'd say they're about as low as the N2N offerings, but they are a serious performance short, so they have a modest front and the padding for cycling - even as thin as it is -a adds to the modesty in the front and rear.  I absolutely love them though.

The Skinzwear M62U is the closest I'm aware off.  The length is too long, but they can change that.  Unfortunately, I was told they don't do customizations until Sept through early October.  They have a wide variety of colors and fabric to choose from.  I bought the M62U with the standard black nylon tricot (6407) and am happy with the fit.  They're the lowest cut shorts or pants I own; perhaps too low for my liking as far as gym use, but I'll get plenty of use out of them for running and such.

A 4 to 6 inch inseam low cut and stretchy sounds like exercise shorts made for women. Most mens shorts are 6" or longer. Most women's are 6" or less. Try searching the net for "low cut" or "low rise" women's exercise shorts. If you want a real short inseam but don't mind a high waist look at the Nike Bump shorts. You may also want to browse the women's exercise shorts on ebay to get an idea of what brand and style you want.

Re:Short Shorts

Date Posted:04/25/2013 11:04:38Copy HTML

Women's workout shorts like Nike's Bump shorts or UA's Booty shorts don't work with guys because the leg openings will not match your hip/thigh ratio. Generally guys have very straight legs from waist, hip and thigh, while women have smaller waists and wider hips but narrower thighs.
Depending on how muscular you are, your thighs are going to get choked by the leg holes if you get women's shorts that fit your hips. That's why you'll see more muscular women rolling their shorts down to get that optimal low cut, short legged look.
I suggest you get MMA style trunks or get shorts custom made. Super short mens compression shorts only come in black, white and skin tone.

Re:Short Shorts

Date Posted:04/26/2013 05:40:00Copy HTML

I guess my legs are just not well developed, but most of my better fitting bike and tri shorts were marketed for women.
I have some DeSoto tri shorts with light weight padds, like ShadowT above, and a pair of very comfortable Canondale that were marked women's but fit me better than the men's shorts on sale that day.  I also have some older short Zoot shorts that work good, both with pad and without. They are all shorter than the normal long bike shorts marked to American men. I don't remember if they were all marketed as women's shorts, but I know some were.

Maybe it is that American women have fatter legs so the women's shorts over here don't have very skinny leg openings. Or maybe it is these shorts are comparatively light weight and so don't have tight leg grippers.

I have tried some bike shorts, and even have some that I don't use much, where the elasticated leg grippers at the bottom of the shorts are too wide, about an inch, and too tight and to raw. I also don't like raw elastic on my skin. This tends to be a problem with some of the longer men's bike shorts where they sew on strong wide elastic round the leg openings to stop them riding up.

On the other hand I find many of the shorter women's shorts don't have such strong elastic around the legs, and if not made for bicycling often have none at all, just a finishing hem with the sort of edging elastic you would find in the edge of a swimsuit. Then again, I don't do a lot of time in on the saddle. If I did serious miles each week these lighter weight shorts would disintegrate fast.

I have an English ex-girlfriend who still comes to visit once in a while.  She is about the same build and will borrow from my closet if she needs bike shorts, which is every time she comes because she schedules visits when there is a fitness conference she wants to do. If she can she will aso get get in a good Olympic distance tri or 1/2. She wears her tri suits for racing but often borrows my wetsuits. For some strange reason my Orca wetsuit and better fitting "farmer john" style wetsuit are now both hang in her closet in England. Something about her needing them more because the water over there is a lot colder. In South Florida we have races where the race has to take the water temperature before the race to see if it is too warm for wetsuits, on the theory that we will overheat and die, so she decided she needed them more and they disappeared to England. As to the fit of my shorts, her thighs are quite well developed, many hours teaching spinning, where she gives it rocks.

I've tried various brands of women's compression shorts and none of them fit right. While they are short as I prefer, they are either too tight in the crotch or bulky around the hip area or come up too high on the waist.

My favorite is a 5" inseam compression short for men from roadrunnersports.com. It fits me as a runner perfectly. It comes in 3 colors http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/RRM1069/ I'm taller then the model on the website so they look a bit shorter on me.
