Okay now you confused me a little, where are the parking lots?  I saw one large parking lot with concessions and info booth, did I not drive down far enough?  Can you please explain where 6-8 is compared to where I was today, I was right off of beach road. Thanks

Drive a bit further to the north. There are a series of smaller lots.

On Siesta public beach access points are numbered, increasing as you go south.

I live on Siesta and prefer the area south of Turtle beach. It is a little more secluded and I am more confortable wearing minimal swimwear. The sand is different than the white powdery sand on Siesta's main beach. Shelling however is much better than the main beach.

Thanks - drove back there yesterday and it was crowded but no other thongs.  Although there was no sun it was a very nice day at the beach. Maybe I can get out there again during the week and have some females join me.

Today was a banner day weather-wise so I spent three hours at Siesta public beach in my Skinz sliding G. I arrived before noon and picked a thin spot in the crowd between the two northern-most life guard stations. Nearby was an older man and his wife wearing brief bikinis, but I saw no other thongs today. It was quite uncrowded for such a beautiful day.

Was at south Tutle Beach today from 10:30 to 1:30.  It is a shame that that area hasn't become a popular thonging area.  It would be ideal in many ways.  I saw maybe 5 or 6 walkers and shellers.  It is peaceful and quiet.  There are a few negatives like the sand is hot and soft and a bit hard to walk in.  But I'm sure that isn't the reason our thonging friends aren't there.  Of course, this was a week day and some had to work, but from what I have read on here, there never are many, if any, thongers.  Maybe if some of us agreed to enjoy that spot together at a certain time, it would catch on.

I agree that South Turtle would make a great thonging area. It offers enough seclusion to reduce non-thonger complaints almost completely. I visit this area nearly every Sunday morning to mid afternoon and have never experienced any negative reaction. Like most other beaches in the area, other thongers are not all that popular. I guess this is the trend all over.

Re:Siesta Key, FL

I got some sun this afternoon at Siesta Beach.
I walked from car to restroom to water fountain and straight out to the beach all in my thong with a towel over one shoulder.
Once on the sand I looked for an opening in the crowd and found one between the two northernmost lifeguard towers. I set up closer to the more southerly one, ate my lunch and started reading a book. Nearby were some towels, shoes and stuff from other beachgoers. Eventually, they came out of the ocean and walked back to their stuff. It was two men, probably in their 30s. I think they were upset that I was laying out there and although they never said anything they picked up their things and left the beach. Next, the life guard shift switch occurred and a female guard replaced the male who was manning the nearby tower. He had never said a word to me. She, on the other hand, exchanged frustrated looks with a third man who walked by and evidently had an "eeewwww gross" grimace on his face when he walked right behind me. I heard her say to him that she couldn't believe I would lay out like that in the middle of a "family beach" - "north or south of here, fine, but not on the family beach". I didn't say a word but kept on reading. She never said anything directly to me but I did hear her discussing me on her 2-way radio with another lifeguard.
Now, all this despite the fact that two ladies on the other side of the life guard tower were wearing brazillians, if not thongs, and they were walking about freely. (Their husbands/boyfriends were wearing board shorts of course.) Also another hottie walked down the beach wearing a scrunchie brazillian bottom - the ones with the elastic in the cleft.
Once I finished the chapter I was reading, I decided to be graceful rather than confrontational and picked up my stuff and walked to the northern edge of the crowd. Here, the crowd was sparse and I was left in peace - even switched to a g-string when swimming in the Gulf so as to minimize tan lines.
Overall a good day, but just pisses me off when I hear the double standard in operation.

With regard to your closing comment, sadly double standards are in evidence in a lot of places when it comes to guys in thongs.
If I get challenged in an English speaking country I will always fight my cause, but when abroad sometimes and there is a language barrier so I just cover up or move on, it's not worth the hassle.
I can remember being in Venezuela and asked to cover up, it was more by sign language than anything else, I wouldn't have minded but my GF and two girls close by all had very small thongs on!!!! I was picked out coz I was a guy, try arguing  that in sign language!!!!! On another occasion at my local lido again with my GF in a thong, I was asked to cover up, I asked to see the manager and pointed out the girls in thongs and everything was sorted out to my satisfaction. Depends where you are and if you speak the lingo!!!!!! But always fight your corner I say!

I enjoyed three hours of sun today  at siesta beach as the cool breezes of fall approach even this central Florida destination. I set up in front of the condominium (undergoing renovations) just south of the public beach pavilion where there were wide open spaces. I was wearing my "conservative" black Skinz thong and, after applying sunscreen, I walked the beach south to point-of-rocks and back. During this hour plus walk I passed many people and occasionally heard some snickers behind me after I walked past. Only once did I hear some sarcastic taunting from a board short dude saying "oooh baby, don't you look fine" sort of stuff. Otherwise my walk was uneventful. I saw no other thongs, but did see a few girls in rio-back suits. I returned to my towel and laid out for another hour or so. I didn't bother to cover up until I got back to my car in the parking lot.

That's a long walk you had. To me southbound is less crowded with people for some reason. I suppose all the mini hotels are farther away from the water for anyone seeing walking in a thong. When I walked along the shoreline barefoot found the hard packed sand gave me blisters and a bum ankle. Gotta give it to ya. Being the only guy in a thong is brave of you in a beach full of prudes. Don't get down from the snickering or comments made towards you. At least some people are polite enough to not talk trash behind your back at least waiting to you get out of range to hear?It will always wearing a thong be a shock to anyone you pass along your shoreline trek.As long your happy at the end of your day not second guessing yourself for wearing a thong is all that matters.Worst thing that can happen is wearing a speedo or dork shorts and feeling miserable seeing someone else wearing a thong enjoying themselves. Then you get awful tan lines from modest clothing on the beach Then the evening you hate yourself looking in the mirror why you did what you do wearing dork shorts for who's benefit.
By the by do you leave your stuff laying out on the beach when walking for hour? I would feel paranoid that someone not liking my attire would toss my stuff in the garbage towel, car keys etc.. Always paranoid at my local nude beach when I go for a five minute walk. They can take my clothes my money but can't be without my iPod touch. Do you at least walk with some sort of music earbuds canceling the snickers and negative commentary? If not I wear it but feel I can hear some people attempting to speak to me. Such as a drunken girl being loud and asking questions to anyone who can hear her. Sometimes it's best to have an excuse not being able to hear.

I've been on the wrong coast (Seattle area) for far too long.  I'm looking forward to heading out to the white sands of Siesta with my infant daughter next month.  She's never seen the ocean!  Has anything disastrous happened in the Siesta Key area since about a year ago?  Or are things pretty much the same?

Just got back from Siesta Key - my wife was in her NVR g-string and I was wearing a Marcuse 'Arrest Me' bikini.  fantastic beach.  the sand feels likes powdered sugar!  there was a bit of seaweed floating in the water on account of an offshore storm, but other than that, it truly is one of the best beaches around.

Bikinicouple:  Which area did you set up? Was it the main beach or did you go north to around area 7? Did your wife receive any negative reaction wearing her g-string? Did you see anyone else in thongs?

I just moved to the area but am too intimidated by the large crowds to wear a g-string at Siesta, so I've been going to Caspersen instead.

We were at the main part where there is a huge parking area, with lots of grills, picnic tables and volleyball nets.  Wife did not receive any negative comments whatsoever.  We overheard some guys telling their girlfriends they want them to wear strings too!  And spied some people clandestinely snapping photos with their iphones.  When we got up and asked another couple to take our picture, they asked if they could use their camera too!  So overall, eventhough it's crowded people are cool and sexy.

Tropical storm Debbie caused quite a bit of erosion at Turtle Beach. Very little beach area remains in front of Fisherman's Cove and Fisherman's Warf condos. The area to the south (good for thongs) did not get much erosion. The last house before Palmer Point is now just a few feet from The Gulf of Mexico and the swimming pool is completely full with sand.

Re:Siesta Key, FL

Yeah, I thonged at Palmer Point one day last week. Had the whole beach to myself, took a nice long walk in a g-string too. I still don't have the nerve to thong at Siesta Key. Before going to Turtle/Palmer, I walked Siesta and didn't see anyone in anything close to minimal swimwear.

Even though Turtle Beach had erosion, it fared much better than Caspersen Beach. Once you get just past the entry ramps there is no soft sand left at all, just like laying on hard dirt. There was also damage to a couple of the staircases leading to the boardwalk that got roped off. Siesta Key seemed to do OK as I didn't notice much erosion.

Interesting is I stopped at Manasota Beach on Friday and they had the most European contingent I've seen at any area beach. I saw a couple of thongs, a couple rios, a number of speedos, an old woman topless and a 10-12 yo girl topless.

We went yesterday (Fri) to Midnight Pass/Palmer Point with textile family and wanted to give a beach report. Several couples out but only one young woman walking the beach that had minimal swimwear, she also had some nice body art. The sand is so soft unless you are right up against the dunes. A steep slope going down to the gulf, it was still rough and choppy after TS Andrea's passing by. Gulf water temp has dropped to 78 degrees, over all a very nice day out our family with us had a great day. Hoping to get out to "our" regular beach sometime this week.
Happy Thonging,

Re:Siesta Key, FL

Thongs are very rare on Siesta. Seems like whenever I go there to take a walk, 75% of the time I see no thongs, the other 25% I may see one or two at the most. When I do see someone in a thong there was not one specific section of the beach they were located, so there is no "thonging section" like you'd find at Caspersen or DeSoto.

Re:Siesta Key, FL

The only area we know of on Siesta that sees "regular" thonging is Palmer Point, it is quite a walk south of Turtle beach. Weekends a lot of boating people are on the beach there, but the thong area is south of them and up against the dunes. There is a steep slope to the beach so when you are up against the dunes none of the people walking the beach can even see you let alone see what type of swimwear you have on. It is a beach that rarely sees red tide and we often go there when the red tide is everywhere else.
Happy Thonging!

Bandm:  I think you misunderstood the prior post from Steve & Candy. They were not recommending hiding in the dunes at Palmer Point. Rather if you're on the beach but far back from the water (close to where the dunes begin but still very much on the beach) then nobody can see you as they walk along the water because of the steep slope of the beach near the water line.

BTW, I agree with your point that hanging out in the dunes gives the impression of bad intentions.

Spent several hours yesterday on Turtle Beach just north of the parking area in a Skinz thong.  No rude comments, everyone seemed to be accepting of it, did have several older women smile and take extended looks while walking past.  Later in the afternoon I walked south to find the Palmer Point area.  All told I counted 3 skimpy backed bikinis in women, no true thongs and no guys in anything smaller than a Speedo.

I was at Turtle Beach on Sunday, wearing a Skinz sun seeker rio, but made it work as a thong. I was in the north part of the beach and didn't hear any comments from anyone, but most people were farther south anyways. I did try to reach Palmer Point, but the water was too far up at the rocks to make it south. I didn't see anyone else in a thong or similar.

I am new here so I do not know if I should ask here or not. I will ask anyway.I am brazilian and I've been living in NYC for a while. However it is the first time I am going to the beach in clearwater and Siesta, FL. Is legal to wear brazilian bikini there? I do want to wear my bikini because It is part pf my culture and it's how I feel comfortable. I do not want to be "invited" to live though.Anyone can help me?

I can't speak to Clearwater but thongs are legal on Siesta Key.  You will not see many. On a typical weekend, I'm lucky if I see 3 or 4 others, but that does not stop me.  Nobody ever gives it a second look as far as I can tell.  There are lots of very small cheeky bottoms though that are not much more than a thong.

I was in siesta key yesterday and saw lots of women in little tiny bikinis that almost looks like thongs. From where I was sitting, there are about 15 girls who were wearing an actual thong, walking, tanning, playing volleyball. There was 1 young girl, with an awesome tan, wearing a little tiny g-string chilling with her grandma or mom. It was a great day and the weather was perfect (forecast says 40% chance of rain, but there was none). It was the 4th time I visited siesta key and this is actually the first time I saw women in thong.
If anyone is wondering....there were no guys wearing bikinis or thongs.

I parked at 948 beach road. Took me almost an hour  to find a parking spot. I even saw some women in thong while driving around the parking lot. One of them waved and pointed towards where she parked so I can take her spot....took her about 10 minutes to clean and change and pack but its totally worth it :-)

I've been there a few times this summer.  I usually see a lot of very young girls in cheeky suits that probably would have been considered thongs 15 years ago.  I usually see 2 or 3 other girls in true thongs or strings (which is what I wear).  I see a few guys in small speedo type suits but I have never seen a male in a thong.  They are legal though.

So I'm staying in a condo just south of siesta key beach, and I've been to the beach 3 times now in my Joe Snyder bulge thongs (usually stick to black, but wore a white one once, which was totally transparent when wet!). Always start with some tanning, and then a quick swim in the ocean. Have not seen anyone else in anything remotely close to a thong, male or female. Definitely get some odd looks from the old folks as I make my way in and out of the water. It's thrilling to do it, but I wish it far more tolerated. No one bothers me as I tan, and the sun feels amazing on my cheeks ?
One older lady was clearly filming me with her phone as I was coming out of the water. Enjoy the shotw, sweetheart!
The beach is amazing, and quite vast, so it's easy to pick a spot and have some relative privacy. Here for a few more days if any thongers want to meet up. Would love to walk the beach....
