Has anyone purchased a rio bikini from them like this one,
http://www.skinzwear.com/shoppingcart/product_detail.cfm?item__code=M54L-3002
Im looking at purchasing it, but want to know how the fit is, and if there sizing is correct.

I bought mine a couple years ago, but I think the skinz rio runs a bit small for the size. It's not small enough to worry about. There's a nice white cutaway rio on the sale page that I might have to purchase.

Glad to know the tie side is still available. I haven't found it yet, but I will....

Skinz, love that product!!! I have over 30, from the Banded Rio to the M1R. Love them all. Anyhow, I've been to the Dunes several times, taken many photos, but seemed that I was the only one there. That would have been about 8 years back. I do plan to make another trip to there and it would be so much better to run into others with the same intrests.

Question is, what area is best now for Thongers to hang out at, and how would I find it? Does anyone wear strings also ?

I am from Uk and quite fancy some of the rio/bikini style gear on Skinzwear site. Yes I agree it can be difficult to navigate this site! I like the look of M18, M53(cutaway) and M27 (skinnyside). Some nice colours and fabrics. Not so sure about sizing though. I am about 32/33 waist and not sure whether to go for medium or large. (Hip size is probably more relevant as these styles are all so low the waist size is less important.

Shipping costs are horrendous- about 5 times true value!!!!!

Sheer1delight, I'm a 34" waist, and always opt for small when buying suits from Skinzwear, just looks and feels better than medium, I've found.

Thanks SlidingG. I am worried about needing to go up to a large size but you reckon small will do!!!!!!!

According to Skinzwear site small is waist 26-?. Are you wearing thongs, rios or bikinis?

I've ordered mostly their M1 cutaway string thongs, which to me are more like a sliding g-string, but also their classic thong, whose waist and pouch work fine for me in their small.  Can't say how a bikini or rio back would do over my butt -- I would very much dislike the rear of a suit being too tight, as it digs into the flesh and looks terrible.  Perhaps you ought to try a medium first, just to be safe.  But no way do you need a large, in my opinion, unless your butt is larger than normal.  Good luck!

Re:SkinzWear.com - Skinz Wear - Florida

32 - 33 Would be a medium in most of their suits.  Any smaller and it will cut you in two.

You are near enough my size.  I have quite a few of the Skinz mediums.  I also have some of the large, of which some I have had to addjust down to fit, and some of the small, but they normaly need the waist band streaching for a few months before they fit right.

So I think medium will probably be about right for you most of the time.

Jack,  I bought one of the Stuffit Thongs and thought it was pretty good...for Skinz.  It has a little more coverage than Dore's very low cut thong, but the pouch is well tailored and holds and supports well, rather than smashing and flattening like most of Skinz' suits.  However, without a special order, it is only available in one color (now two) which is a baby blue in a sort of smooth fabric.  Unfortunately, neither the color or fabric appeals to me.

Re:SkinzWear.com - Skinz Wear - Florida

I just bought a Stuffit Thong and is my favorite thong of the 50 or so I own. The pouch is very small and very low, but it does indeed hold everything. Not only that, it gives you a superb shape.

It's like wearing almost nothing, but having that 'nothing' accentuate every part it covers. It's almost more like jewelry than clothing.

Quality is typical Skinz, which is to say excellent (though not cheap). I've not liked some of Skinz's styling through the years, but this one is really a breakthrough.

RE: The Skinz Spartan thong: - Lots of sellers have this type gstring. I see no need for suspending the nice narrow pouch from a string, why not just connect the belt string to the pouch directly and wear your belt string lower. The Skinz Roman which I like much better covers a portion of the pubic area meeting some laws if you need but can be worn much lower to just barely cover.

beachfolks...thanks.  I took a look at the Roman Thong as well, but I was concerned about the fit, considering the Roman Thong's front is seamless.  It kind of reminds me of their Banded Thong they used to make, which was really hard to keep in place.  The Spartan's front pouch looks more formed, so I'm hoping for a better fit with even less coverage.

I stopped by Skinz retail store in Clearwater yesterday afternoon.  Locals should know that they are having a December sale. 2-for-1 and I was surprised to learn that this even applied to the sale racks. I got 2 suits for $14.   The selection is still a little slim - too many wierd styles, efeminate colors, but I managed to find a few.sarasotajt

BTW. Skinz has migrated over to their 2008 site... -- I also received their newest catalog in the last couple days. Seems to have a little wider selection this year... lots of options... Plus I've never had a lot of problems with their suits.  Usually a very nice product.  Their prices have gone up a bit though.

In the new 2008 catalog, Skinz has a new style called the sunseeker.  It is a string style with a very narrow back and a front pouch that might be similar to a Muscleskins Pro pouch.  That back may be so narrow as to slip into one's crack when active, swimming or walking around.  I don't know and I'm wondering about trying this style.  Any body else noticed this style?  Anybody have one yet?

They said mesh (see-thru) is a popular custom fabric for both men and women.  Thought it was interesting they had that in the story.

I recently ordered and received the men's adjustable micro g string big bang fire M1R2U-8104 and got to wear it at Cocoa Beach the other day.  A group of women stopped me and wanted some pictures of me with some of them.  Tammy got the photo she wanted.  One of the ladies told me that I was very brave to wear that suit on the beach and I told her you just have to be comfortable in your own skinz.  Had a great time that day.

Hey there, I have 2 Sunseekers-one in black rubber look and one pink hibiscus. The
pouch is definately very narrow but deep enough to be accommodating. I have a muscleskins pro-v and the pouch is definately narrower but a bit more contoured-possibly closest to micro-poser. Top of the pouch is maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the
shaft so I'd recommend shaving smooth. As for the back it depends a bit on the material and how you wear it. The regular spandex slides on the skin a bit so there is some creep in but not bad. Wearing the straps low on or just below the hips (basically showing a bit of butt cleavage) keeps it in place. Pulling the straps up brings it more in as a thong, which actually can be handy. The black "rubber" actually stays in place a bit better because it doesn't slide so easily but overall it's a tighter fit. Hope this helps....

"550 Blocked" means the IP address with which your computer or e-mail server is associated appears on a "black list".  The Skinzwear mail server (and lots of others) will not accept e-mail from you.  This is an issue for you to take up with your internet service provider.

Checking the internet DNS records, skinzwear.com's mail exchanger resolves to two IP addresses, both of which are active.  I tried to send an e-mail and it went through.

Nadathing, glad I could help. I like the rubber look fabrics for their shine and feel. I have one or two other styles in rubber look so I'd recommend it for any style you like. Do keep in mind it isn't as durable since it is a laminate fabric and it is tighter than regular spandex for a given size. I like the tighter feel so I get the same size as usual, but if you want the same feel as a regular fabric I'd go up one size...

I am from the UK and have just received my first delivery of Skinzwear gear.M54, skinny side rio and a low cut rio.I am very impressed though mail costs very high plus I had to pay £15 fee £7 customs duty and £8 Royal Mail charge. They are all very comfortable and stylish- yes the low cut rio is low! but materials all very nice - a wet lok blue. a blue rubber and a metallic tiger on mesh.

They have a huge range of materials but unfortunately for anything other than the standard colours on the website/catalogue you have to pay $8 extra to get it custom made. While this is OK if you want a different fabric it does make buying them somewhat more expensive. So I can get a wetlook item in blue for $26  but to get it in black will be$34!

That said I hope to buy some more standard items. I quite like the look of the sunseeker in wet look turquoise though  it looks a bit brief for use at a public pool.It looks smaller than a muscleskins string rio that I would occasionally wear to the pool.

I note your comments showcheek. Where do you wear yours?

i agree that Skinzwear suits work out to be very expensive once postage and customs fees factored in. I have a couple but too much fabric on some  make the fit look at bit bag. I use Dore, KOala and recentlyfound and bought 3 suits from www.Alphamoda.com  Based inGreece so postage lower and I paid no customs dues as values were lower.

Maxin.
I find Koala too extreme. I haven't bought of Dore though it can vary from mild to extreme wear too. and not too sure about ordering process I have tried alphamoda. Indeed very reasonable and being within EU no customs charge to UK. It would be great if they expanded their range of swimwear fabrics in menswear to include metallics, wet look , meshes, prints etc. Their ranges are simple and easy to understand. The choice of faric might add to the cost but would still be much cheaper I think than skinzwear!

hey sheerdelight,
I wear them where ever I can! lol  I wear mine to the shore (beach for non New Jersians)
or out on my boat. I'm tempted to email the management at my gym (New York Sports Club) about their policy on thong wear in the pool.
To help with your thoughts on public pool I think the best way to look at it is this: the
sunseeker is a rio mainly in name...thong and micro bikini fans will recognize it as not totally a thong, but any guy in capris (isn't that the name for shorts that go just below the knee? aka board shorts nudge nudge, wink wink) will think its a thong.

Showcheek. Thanks for your views. I think that during my next purchases from skinzwear that I will go for a sunseeker in wet look turquoise or wet look black. Even if I find it too extreme for pool or other public wearing it looks good as underwear! Might even try a packman rio as well.

Re:SkinzWear.com - Skinz Wear - Florida

Date Posted:05/13/2008 07:15:54Copy HTML

Just received my second delivery of Skinzwear. Thank goodness no charge by customs this time! I got a blue rubber ruched and fitted bottom, turquoise cutaway, wet look turquoise sunseeker and a wet look titanium packman. The sunseeker rear is smaller than my muscleskins rio and would take courage to wear to the public pool. The Packman pouch is very small and the elasticated rear makes a very tight back. For some reason the titanium front is lined whereas most of the others in this style do not appear to be normally lined. I am not sure if the lining has an advantage - apart from trying to convince someone it is a proper swimsuit being so lined. (Its tinyness suggests otherwise!). However I think the lining might reduce stretchiness of the front pouch which to be honest just about covers things.I consider myself to be average down there but it really was a squeeze trying to fit things in and another more extreme shave was needed to tidy up appearances.I had considered the black vinyl but I doubt if coverage from that fabric would be sufficient to cover that part of the anatomy at all! I am not even sure if large would be a better fit/coverage as medium fits perfectly for their other suits.Anyone out there sport  a packman to the beach or pool and what about reactions to it? Can you manage to cover up your equipment?.

I think I have got an example now of every skinzwear rio back I would be tempted to wear.

Overall I like the styles but more especially the variety of fabrics though apart from those pictured one has to pay extra for the privilege. As a great muscleskins fan these are an attractive alternative.

Nadathing. I agree with showcheek. Expect reduced life of gear made from metallic rubber. However it is great to wear having just purchased items in blue and turquoise.

I have sunseeker in wet look turquoise. The rear is small! While it doesn't do a wedgie it definitely follows ones rear into the crack rather than straight across the crack. It is only marginally smaller than muscleskins rio back over which I tried it - yet wearing it on its own it does look a lot smaller!

If you wear a size other than large there is usually a good selection of suits on the 9.99 sale rack.

The new suits are usually limited in color selection and size which is a gimic (IMHO) to get you to pay the extra custom fee. I have told them a number of times that I will not pay that fee. I am lucky enough that I live only a mile from the store so I stop in often.

In any case I think it would be worth the trip over to check it out.
