Our vacation is already booked, and we're more than ready for Florida.   We'll be in Orlando for one week from March 10 .   I don't think we'll be wearing our thongs in Orlando too much.    From what I've heard, Orlando is VERY conservative, so we'll be driving to whichever coast we feel like visiting that particular day.    Our kids like the ocean side and my wife and I prefer the gulf coast.     I don't know if we will meet since you'll be at South Beach (my 13 year old son might enjoy SB just too much, lol).     All I do know is whenever we're on a beach we'll be in our thongs, maybe even my red sparkly thong from Skinz (if they have any left in stock) (my old one has died a premature death).

Time for another SoBe report! I saw that it was going to be 84 and mostly sunny today, so I had to go. Locals were out - I would say overall 25% thongs or tiny rio's. I originally setup near 5th street, but moved to 2nd street when I saw how many thongers were down there - nearly 50% of the women were in thongs around 2nd street. I arrived at 10:30 - changed into my thong in my car and didn't put on any other covering until 5:45pm! That's over 7 hours of solid thonging (I used various levels on sun screen upto a strong 35spf). As you may have read in my previous posts, I always like to move around. I've gotten progressively bolder each time I go to SoBe. So to top last time, I decided I wanted to shop in a thong. I walked around for probably 3 of the 7 hours. I walked virtually the entire length of the beach on the shore. I also walked the boardwalk along collins ave from 2nd street to 19th street. I then walked back along collins at rush hourfrom 19th street to 16th street! Yes, I received several comments - but for the most part mainly hoots and honks. I fullfilled my shopping desire by walking around Excess and Wings near 16th street. I bought a new thong (not the m1 string thong I was wearing from skinz, but a nice one that I want to wear at Wet n'Wild this summer). Overall, a pretty crazy day. I don't know how I can top that next time...perhaps shopping on Washington Ave?

Quite an adventure cyberluc! I haven't had the nerve to go shopping at South Beach yet, but have done so on Hollywood Beach in an M-1.

A wonderful day on the beach today! Went to SoBe and initially laid out around 16th St (the Loews). Wore a Dore very low ring slingshot (you can see me in it on page 6 of Dore's customer site).  Walked up to 30th street along the surf and down to 10th. Didn't get down to the single digits. I was on the boardwalk for a while and used the showers along the boardwalk.  Didn't have the nerve to go west of the boardwalk.

I moved up to about 19th street and laid out a little later in the day. I was there about half an hour, went into the water, and then walked to the showers to rinse off. When I passed the lifeguard stand, the guard called me over in a pleasant way and told me that he had received a complaint. He told me that he had told the person complaining that I was not in violation of any law but that the person was concerned for his kids. While he did not ask me directly, I could tell that the lifeguard wanted to make everyone happy and that if I moved, he would not have any more problems. I told the lifeguard that I did not want to offend anyone and that I would move. I picked up (without putting anything more on) and moved a few blocks. I must comment that I found the behavior of the lifeguard to be very courteous and respectful.

bmicro, I would have politely told the lifeguard that if that person is offended then maybe they should move. Why let others have a say in how you can enjoy a day at the beach. If your not doing anything illegal or immoral then its someone elses problem.

I agree with your point, but honey attracts more bees than lemon. If there were a legal point to be made, I would have made it. Just as I will try to be courteous and turn down my stereo if it offends a neighbor, it is easier for me to move than to create any bitterness. I move around a lot anyway, so it is just not an issue for me.

Got to spend some time recently on South Beach and it's as good as ever for thong wearing and watching.  The scenery is spectacular!

I thought I'd try a little experiment one day since I noticed a lot of thongs on women in front of the Delano.  I came out about noon and set up my stuff between their loungers and the water but off to one side.  They had about 7 rows of chairs across and about 6 deep.  Only one in the middle of the oceanside row was taken by a couple, she wearing a micro thong TNT.  Then over the next hour people started to arrive.  Most were couples, a few females together 2-3 girls.  Well after about an hour I stood up and looked and the quarter of the field of chairs where I bordered were completely occupied and only two others in the other quarters and they were toward the ocean.  Now understand that most all of the women were now topless and the guys were mostly wearing boy short or speedo type suits.  I got a lot of long looks from several of the women and a few were sneaking pictures of my Dore Very Low Thong G string.

Then the last lounge to be taken at the far end of the ocean row was four girls 19-25 years old.  They turned out to be Italians and all went topless, one with a  yellow micro thong, two bikinis and one--the best looking in a black WW  micro g string! (looked like a 455 to me).  The G string girl had long black hair neatly put up, dangling earrings, full makeup and took great care with her sun cream--not a tanline on her breasts.  She spent the afternoon with a very expensive Digital SLR camera set up taking pictures of shore birds and kids playing in the surf. Wow- I think if she would be up to it I could have won her the WW contest with that camera that afternoon.

Well that's what South Beach is like!

The weather in miami was realy nice this weakend and the beach was full of locals, and south american people, I enjoyed this visit to south beach, I can remember some thongs incidents, around 8 st. a girl was playing voleyball with her BF and she was wearing a blue thong, the funny thing was that a guy was with his camcorder filming all the game and she didnt noticed... I Love south beach.

Also I forgot to thank you Sailor for the pics, all of them are fantastic.  About Bmicro I dont see why the people complain because if you go to south beach you know that one of the things that you are going to see are thongs and if you think that are inmoral you shoud go to ther place, but for none one is a secret that thongs are part of SoBe. And mrever-ready I think that your kid is going to have a lot of fun at SoBe. At his 13 this will be a blast for him.

Yes, for Orlando to South Beach, a about 240 miles, and around 4 hours sounds right, if the road is clear.  It's not an easy day trip.   Most people who come down from Orlando try to stay at least one or two nights.

Drive time depends on where in Orlando you start, time of day (Rush hours and such), how many times you stop at the rest stops, and how badly you get lost.  My guess, 4 hours 15 minutes, if you get the timing right and you have no rush hour at each end.

I have been driving that route in reverse.  I try to drive very early in the morning, or late at night, before the heat of the day and the rush hours, or after its all over.  Traffic is OK for most of it, but rush hours in Orlando, or the southern tri counties,  can mess things up a lot.  (For example, I95 North is stopped dead between 4PM and 7PM.   Doing 10 miles, from Miami to Golden Glades, could take you more than an hour in rush hour.)

If you want to do both Miami and South Beach in one trip, you may do better to fly into Miami airport,  take a shuttle to the beach, and stay there.  Everything is within walking distance, or the 25c loop buss, or a quick cab ride.  Then book one of the Orlando buss and park packages they sell.  You get driven, on a comfortable buss, and they work a deal on the buss fare, park entry tickets and low cost hotels into a one, two, three or four day jaunt.  Since the parks have defined opening times, closing times, single entrances, etc.  That end makes for a better group package trip.

People under estimate the length of Florida.  I get messages from people wanting to stay in Orlando and drive down to Key West for a visit.  I have to  point out, it would involve less driving if they were to go the other way, head north out of Florida, drive through Georgia and visit Charleston South Carolina.  Key west is about an all day, 400 mile drive from Orlando, and the lower half ain't no freeway.

It's headquartered this year at "miami beach resort and spa" 48th and Collins.  Their are thousands in the industry coming to town so the restaurants and beaches will be more crowded.  It's mostly Dance music so there are a lot of European and Latin American people from the industry.  From my experiences many wear thongs!  Some parties at some locales get pretty bare.

here's a link http://www.wmcon.com/  They often have a lot of parties at hotel pools up and down the beach afternoons and evenings. There are concerts in Bicentenial Park in downtown Miami on some nights and this weekend- the Ultra Music Festival. http://www.ultramusicfestival.com/

SOBE report for May 2-3, 2007

I spent late Tuesday afternoon on SOBE at the north end of Lummus Park. Weather was perfect and the beach was well populated for a week day. I eventually walked along the water's edge down to the south end of Lummus Park and back. I saw numerous girls in thongs or Gs and several topless as well. Curiously, I noticed that some of the finest chics seemed to lay out in the predominantly gay beach area. I guess they feel secure there and less prone to unwanted advances from the guys.

I spent much of Wednesday afternoon further north - parked at the Collins Park lot which is at 22nd St. There too I saw numerous ladies wearing thongs and also quite a few topless. I walked the beach along the water's edge south to the north end of Lummus Park (15th St.) and back. I encountered no hassles and saw numerous female thongers, but only one other male - an older guy.
Later, while laying out I received one comment from a juvenile african-american girl who was walking the beach with her brother. She said "Please close your legs." and then they both giggled as they continued walking. I found it rediculous as I did not have my legs spread wide. I didn't bother to dignify her comment with a response.

The word is out about South Beach. It is an adult beach. Anyone who goes there and is offended by exposed flesh of either gender has only themselves to blame.
I look forward to my next visit.

Sarasotajt, your observations regarding Haulover versus SOBE reinforce my thinking regarding nude beaches versus clothing optional beaches.  Though I haven't been to SOBE in over 35 years and long to get back, and have never been to Haulover, my limited experience at a nude beach was quite similar to yours with respect to the sex ratio.  It was nice to be able to get naked and not have to look over my shoulder for the authorities all the time, but a very limited social scene and felt unnatural.  By contrast, visiting several clothing optional beaches on St Martin last January was fantastic.  Although I got naked on numerous occasions, many around me did not, but everybody did their own thing and respected the choices everybody else was making.  Very pleasant environments, no gawking I was aware of, and very normal sex ratios.  My favorite was Happy Bay, which you had to hike to and was not crowded.  When I wandered into the Club Orient section of Orient Bay beach, I soon left -- too many naked people!  I guess I prefer a mix of textiles and nudes.  Though stolling down the main section of the beach midday with nothing on was a little too much in the opposite direction -- most of the thousands were clothed, though happily, some very briefly!  As I look back, I'm surprised at my daring.  But overall, the clothing optional venues were very pleasant indeed.

Just returned from two days in South Beach.
I spent both afternoons on the beach in front of Lummus Park wearing my white skinz thong.
I saw no other male thongers either day, but loads of ladies in thongs and/or topless.

One afternoon I even rode my bike down the length of the beach from South Point Park to about 22nd St. park - still wearing only my thong.

This is paradise.

I had the wonderful opportunity to hang out on South Beach on 1/24.  The weather and scenery were both good, but there weren't many people.  I saw probably two dozen women in thongs, one other guy, and a handful of topfree women. After I sunned for an hour or so in my new "Toto" thong that I had just bought, I went for a walk up to 22nd st and back down to 6th st and back up to 14th.  Very pleasant day.

Pagan-Egyptian,You hear correctly. You can wear most anything you want on South Beach. I have seen women in single string bottoms and almost transparent Wicked Weasel suits. I have worn very small swimsuits including very narrow g-strings, a Koala Testosterone (baggie), and a Shaved Fury. I have seen guys wearing fishnet thongs (probably the one thing that is beyond my range). No one really cares what other folks are wearing and the lifeguards will politely let you know in the rare case that someone complains too strongly. Have fun!

Re:South Beach, Beach Miami, Florida FL. ( SoBe )

My wife and I will be staying in Miami for a week during March 9-15.  We are having a hard time choosing between Hotel De Soleil and The Shore Club as we have reservations at both but will have to cancel one shortly.  I have read many of the posts regarding South Beach and locations where both men and women have been seen wearing thongs in addition to women going topless.  It seems that the number of thongs, regardless of them being worn by women or men, fluctuates throughout the year.  This is not a big deal but of course it would be nice to see a modest number of thong wearers while we are there. We live near Chicago and I sometimes visit Hollywood Beach on the north side during the summers sporting a thong.  The age range varies at Hollywood Beach so being surrounded primarily by college age sun seekers does not ocurr very much at all.  The time of year we will be in Miami is definitely Spring Break time.  The idea that my wife and I will be surrounded by college students is a bit bothersome.  My current age is not a big deal to me when it comes to wearing a thong.  I'm 31 and she is 27 so we both have not been out of college for very long.  Being 31 I sometimes wonder what others say when they see my thong and relate my apparent age back to the fact that I'm wearing a thong.  Can anyone give a little insight to what we may encounter (not necessarily the comments - those are pretty obvious if anyone makes negative ones), regarding being swarmed by college students, while sunning on the beach?  I feel pretty comfortable where ever I wear a thong and I am still going to wear my Skinz thongs while at the beach or hotel pool.Back in October we went to Tahiti (Moorea and Bora Bora) for our honeymoon.  I've been wanting to post my experience, in the appropriate topic, while staying there but haven't gotten around to doing it.  The only point I did want to mention when thinking of crowds is about what I felt comfortable wearing while at the different resorts.  On Moorea I did not wear a thong (should have) but rather a Skinz M29 (super low rio) because some of the bungalows were at the edge of the beach.  I felt bad/uncomfortable sunning in a thong while in front of some other couples bungalow, especially if they were on their honeymoon too and would rather not see me in a thong.  South Beach will be different since I don't care because the beach will be bigger, no bungalows right at the beach, and "It's South Beach!!"The resort in Bora Bora was a different story.  We stayed in an over the water bungalow the entire time and had our own sundeck and quick access to the lagoon water.  I wore Skinz M41 thongs (no tie sides) every day the entire time we were enjoying the sun and water.  I decided to wear one of the thongs to the resort pool the last day we were there though I barely got up to enjoy the pool (not a lot of time). The point I wanted to make is that I did wear thongs while at the one resort and hope that the crowds (compared to the small resort) won't be overwhelming at the hotel beaches because of Spring Break.  It looks like the hotel pools can sometimes be a bit crowded based on the pictures.  When looking at pictures on Flickr that show women wearing thongs on South Beach it seems that crowds could exist there too.  Again, can anyone comment on this issue and your experience while wearing a thong during this time of year. Thanks

msugrad,Welcome to South Beach. First, hotel choice. I live near the De Soleil (formerly Vincci, formerly Regent). It is a new condo hotel whose rooms face condominium buidings on both sides and sits on the other side of Ocean Drive from the beach. The pool is on the roof. It impresses me as a "wannabe" luxury hotel. The Shore Club, on the other hand is right on the beach in the same area as the Delano, National, Ritz Carlton, Sagamore, etc. You walk from the hotel, past the pool area (very active), and onto South Beach. You can walk from your room to the beach in just a thong or spend time at the pool. Neither you nor your wife should feel uncomfortable in nothing more than a g-string. At the De Soliel, you would be walking across a street and past a starbucks. There is no actual problem with this here, but it might be a bit uncomfortable from what you have said of your experinces. On the beach, there are always crowds (unless a hurricane is here). That said, I have never had any problem wearing a very skimpy g-string or a even suit like the Koala Shaved Fury. You may have seen my posts here and there. There is an increase in the number of college kids here during spring break period but they are all great kids and not obnoxious. This not at all what you think of as spring break wildness, like the panhandle, Texas, or Cancun. The college kids do not dominate the area. South Beach has been priced out of the range of most college kids. Come, have a good time and wear as little as you want. Like anywhere, thongs are in the minority, but are probably more prevalent here than most anywhere else.

We've visited recently during SB and the college students are everywhere.  I'll say that their behavior is better than at other places like Daytona (? the high cost brings more affluent kids)  In later March the Winter Music Conference people will invade- lots of young Europeans.Be prepared to, as a guy, be asked to have your picture taken- or get it taken on the beach.I'd say go for the beachfront hotel too.  If you get a balcony on the south side/or east side you can sun nude in the mornings.

bmicro and sailor250,Thanks for your comments.  Regarding the hotel choice...being able to walk from the room to the pool to the beach has been a bit of a hang up.  We like that the pool is between the hotel and beach, nice feature but that is about it.  It is also intriging to know that one could wear only a thong while walking from the room and etc.  I don't know if I would walk from the room to either the pool or beach (maybe pool to beach) only in a thong so this is not a big deal in what hotel we choose.  The location of the pool, like I said above, is causing the indecisiveness along with knowing that at The Shore Club lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided.  The tiki bar on beach is not a big deal for us!  Would I think of walking from the De Soleil to the beach in only a thong?  Maybe since I've heard of people walking across the streets in only thongs and just so I can say to myself that I did it in Miami. The other issue between the two hotels is the price of the rooms versus what the room is like that one pays for.  The standard rooms at The Shore Club look like and have been compared to dorm rooms or jail cells.  Very plain, low thrills, no frills, blah.  The rooms on the other hand at Hotel De Soleil are all suites or better and include a balcony.  I don't know how high of room class you have to go to get a balcony at The Shore Club but I'm pretty sure it is more than what we want to pay.  The pictures could be deceptive but at least the rooms at De Soleil seem a heck of alot better than The Shore Club.  Also, I got a good price on the room earlier this week for the De Soleil.  We will save $350 by staying there versus Shore Club and the savings take into account parking but exclude what we may pay for daily rental of lounge chairs and umbrellas from the vendors.Yeah, I know people say you will not be in the room very much but when we are it would be nice to enjoy it and have a few frills and thrills versus none.  Oh, and sailor250 mentioned something about getting picture taken.  Did you mean that people will ask to take a picture of me and/or take pictures without me knowing (no big deal) or for me to attempt to have pictures taken for my own collection?  It sounds like there will be more college kids but not crazy like other popular spring break destinations.  By the way, have either of you seen these college girls/guys wearing thongs at these places during their time on the beach or at the pools?  I hope to walk by the different hotel beaches and pools in the area where we'll be and see some nice thongs (guy or girl).

msugrad, I can see into a number of rooms at the Del Soleil from my condo and they do look nice. However, the fact that I, and my neighbors, can see into the rooms and observe the balconies and associated hot tubs might give you pause as to how useful they might be. The De Soleil is a condominuim hotel so you will be staying in someone's condo. I have observed and heard that their occupancy is way down, probably explaining the good deal you got. The rooftop pool is hardly ever used. The lobby, club, and pool areas at the Shore Club are beautiful but I have never been in one of the rooms. If you want to stay across the street from the beach, a better choice would be the Victor. The Sagamore, a block north of the Shore Club,  has been recently refurbished so you might try there. The others that I listed are very high class. If price is a concern, you are in the higher priced bracket with your two choices.Sailor is right, you will probably have your picture taken while at the beach in a thong or g-string and a few folks might have the courtesy to ask. I have had more than one set of women buy me a drink after posing with them. You will certainly find quite a few college age and not much older girls (like your wife) as well as more mature women in thongs. There are very few college age men wearing thongs. What thong wearing males there are tend to be your age and up. Expect a very wide variety of people on the beach. All of the hotel beaches run together and Lummus Park runs from 15th street to 5th. Many of the hotel pools (like, I think, the Shore Club) are restricted to the guests of that hotel.

msugrad, hope this helps some but I stayed at the Dezerland Resort and Spa last July which is on 87th St. This is at a pretty quiet end of Miami Beach, and despite the bad reviews on expedia.com, I didn't think it was all that bad.Great location IMO.  Needless to say, there were't any college kids. The entire week I was there I saw maybe (on average) 2 to 3 women per day wearing thongs, and I was the only guy.(in the area anyway), Well, even though I was the only guy, I still walked the beach at least 10 or so blocks each way in just a thong by myself, and back and forth to the little shack that the Hotel has set up on the beach where you buy your cold drinks,  w/ no comments, stares, giggles, nothing, and I'm 38. I will be going back again this year in July only I'll stay at a different Hotel, somewhere in that vicinity, maybe, I like to pick a different Hotel every year, we'll see. If I can pull it off, so can you and your wife, After all there's strenght in numbers. You can be each other's support system! Have fun.

The college kids are only there during Spring Break-during the summer theres never a crowd-off season.Yes you'll get your picture taken-could end up on the net- I have a few times. One day I had probably 15 groups ask to take my picture when I walked 2nd to 20th st. in a g string.  Some were just group pictures with them, some me alone.  More than once I found the girl taking the picture pretending to take a wide shot but zooming on my suit.  More than once a group of girls kneeled down beside me and had their pictures with suit at their eye level- often with goofy faces made!  More than once I was asked to turn around so the girls were facing the camera and I was between facing away- they liked the back!  Yes a few girls were wearing thongs - one group had a thong wearing topless girl in the group

Once on South Beach I was stopped by a group of girls and guys- college kids who wanted my picture- One of the girls started taking some interesting shots - had her girlfriend kneel beside me facing me and she kneeled down, took pictures across the front of my suit which was a  Dore VLT (so just 3 by 4 inches of cloth) with her friend smiling and laughing while looking- all in good fun .  The guys thought it was funny and we started talking.  The guys then offered me a beer from their cooler.  I started drinking it then looked around- because on that section alcohol isn't allowed.  I quicklly drank up- that's all I needed was to be busted by the cops who I'd seen ticketing some kids for beer earlier- So you can walk around nearly naked but do watch the beer!Be prepared because even today a lot of college girls say they haven't seen guys in thongs.  They say they see them on girls- not guys. Also alot of students from the midwest seem amazed at the topless women on the beach- but most of even the guys seem mature enough.

Sailor250,It seems that you are often stopped for pictures.  Does this ocurr more during this month of the year (March)?  Also, are there certain areas along South Beach, in front of specific hotels, that seem more prone to picture takers?  My wife and I did finally decide in time to cancel one of our hotel reservations.  Out of the two hotels, Hotel De Soleil or The Shore Club, which beach area do you see more people in thongs, girls or guys?  And does the number of people in thongs and/or topless girls increase near these hotels this time of year?  I know that at Hotel De Soleil the beach area across the street is at the end of Lummus Park.  What can you say about the guys in thongs and topless girls or in thongs at the Lummus Park area?  Do the beach goers seem to wear more conservative swimsuits or smaller bikinis and thongs at the park area beach? Thanks

The beach in front of the Shore Club tends to be more mature, european visitors to the high class hotels in the area north of fifteenth street. While historically this area tends to be more open in terms of swimwear - men in speedos and a few thongs and topless and thonged ladies, I have observed that, over the past month or so, there seems to be more topless girls around the north end of Lummus park (13th to 15th st). You should be aware that the area around 12th street tends to be mostly gay and the area around eighth street tends to be younger. That said, there is more variation than consistency. Except for the gay area, nothing is geographically constant. Walk around and enjoy the beach! I was out on Saturday and Monday jogging in a thong and then in a very brief g-string. While laying out around 14th street I noticed a group of six college age girls, all topless and two in thongs! Hope that this represents your week!  I would be curious to know of your experience at the hotel that you chose and how you enjoyed your week. Give us a report!

I'd say you see thongs all over- we stay at 18th and Collins usually and there are plenty there.  The kids were up past 5th st. mostly and highest concentration 15-22st.  Most photos were from 12th north.  I'd pick the Shore Club area- most thongs on the beach loungers?- hands down the Delano!

BTW the paparazzi documented Kate Hudson red thong wearing I've listed in the pictures section/celebrity thread took place at the Raleigh Hotel pool on SB last week.

If the acceptability of thong suits for women becomes widespread- remember it started on SouthBeach.

wow I haven't been in here in a while !
someone mentioned the Starbucks. I know it may be a little different for us girls, but I usually walk from the 16th street park to the beach in my thong, I rarely use a "cover up" sarong, only when I feel like someone is being "stupid" around me. I have been inside Starbucks to order a coffee or use their facilities wearing nothing else than my WW bikini.
I usually start from the beach right by Starbucks and walk down to 5th street, then back up to the best less crowded spot I can find. Which usually ends up being around 9th or 10th street
