I know Bangkok has a huge selection but won’t be stopping by there this time.
I’ll be staying in Patong.

But Patong is really shitty area, I prefer the southern part of Phuket, nice and quiet, empty beaches, no crowds.

The real beach experience is elsewhere. And likely nude, or at least thong-friendly. Bring your thong from home and save the time of a likely fruitless pursuit in traffic and car exhaust.

In Phuket at Patong beach and have been down the beach for the last few days wearing a small yellow G String, seen a few guys in some but the amount of females in G Strings and Thongs is eye candy to me. Every woman seems to like the back of their bikini pulled up and between their arse, I'm not complaining, even guys are doing it with their speedos. I've come out of the sea and my G String has been see through, unfortunately it has become loose due to the suntan oil I've used, never mind I Have more. Off to Koh Samui in 5 days time to lay on the beach and the pool for another week, hope to get a good G String tan line but got to be careful in the sun. |

Date Posted：06/17/2019 08:55:39Copy HTML Went to Koh Lanta again....in April and wore a g string along the beach and got a beach massage...the area was quite and looked like low season. water was azure blue and calm. the mango freeze was simply delicious and it was really relaxing. the place has changed since the last I went, more road works to widen the roads and with the new bridge there just seems to be more buzz.

That is like the gate way to thong transition in my opinion, the more speedos I see, the more comfortable I’m feeling wearing a thong. I think my next trip is possibly Niaharn Beach or close to that general area. |

Would I be better off staying in the more touristy areas like Phuket with Patong Beach, Karon, kata? Or should I look for more quieter small areas where the resorts have private beaches? Or a smaller island like Ko Samui? I’ll thong regardless but was wonder what people have found as being the best areas for a guy to thong with not getting too much attention or any care that I’m thonging. |

I have thonged in many places in Thailand, on islands and mainland, but I would ad that you should be sensitive if there are local families around, not to cause any offence. You can stay sitting or lying down in those situations.

The hotel doesn't have that many beach chairs. Every day my lady and I would turn left pass the resort about 20 yards and thong.This area was where the the women would be topless. Thonged here for 6 days straight not a problem. My cover up shorts where very short but no one said anything.
Side note the drinks food are good at this hotel.

More than likely I would have a speedo or bikini cover and only thong while at the beach or hopefully the pool. Most of the time I usually throw the bikini cover on when going to the water, bar or for walks. I’m just looking for a very laid back vibe where no one cares. From what I’ve read it seems like most of Thailand I can thong without much hassle. I definitely don’t want to offend the locals. |

I found Kamala Beach to be really nice looking and the Sunprime resort to have some nice pools. In the pictures I see lots of Europeans I believe with speedos. I think this could be a good spot for me. It’s an adult only resort which is perfect for us so I’m sure wearing a thong at the pool and beach shouldn’t be too much of an issue for me. While researching Thailand, I actually found a picture of a guy in a thong laying out on the beach with his wife while on the Google Maps street view or beach view. Hopefully that will be me soon! Ha |

Staying in a small resort in Kata Beach where children aren't allowed. Told the wife i'll pretty much be living in my thong so hopefully i won't encounter any negativity from other pool and beachgoers. |

As I commented above back in 2019, I was all booked in and literally a few days out from flying out until things got crazy real quick and hard travel restrictions were imposed here in Australia. Fingers crossed for March 2021 but we'll see how everything goes.
I was booked in to stay at a resort called the Chanalai Romantica (Kata Beach) in a room that opens up to their pool. Anyone stayed there before? Will most likely book there again but am open to suggestions. Just wish the wife wasn't the complete opposite of my exhibitionist nature, sigh, one can dream...

Date Posted：10/11/2022 08:51:14Copy HTML Just to share, spent a few days in Phuket with the wife and her friends(birthday trip for one of them) in a fairly upscale resort called The Slate. Was in various Skinzwear strings throughout the stay. The resort had rooms with private pools and sun deck chairs where you can basically "go all the way".
Generally saw more ladies in cheeky bikinis and not so much thongs or G-strings around the resort pools so that was good. Guys were generally in the usual surf shorts.
As was with the wife and her friends, the first couple of days was in somewhat conservative swim trunks from BuffedBod with a V back, half-inch sides and ultra slim fronts over my Skinzwear strings. The wife knows that I wear strings when we are on vacation but not her friends. On the 3rd day, upon reaching the pool earlier before the wife and her friends, as they headed back to the room after lunch to rest, I decided to strip off my BuffedBod trunks together with my shorts and lay out to tan in my Skinzwear M52 since there were only a few others at the pool.
Unbeknownst to me, one of my wife's friend turns up at the pool after 20/25 minutes and saw me laying out in my M52 and said Hi. I was surprised but nothing I could do but just act normally and she did take a few more looks and plop her things on the deck chair next to mine. She didn't say anything about the string either which I took as a good sign. I texted my wife telling her what had happened and she just LOL-ed and said will join us at the pool after a while with her other friend. After another 30 mins or so, my wife and her other friend came to the pool and we all just laid out there for the rest of the afternoon with me in my strings.
So I guess, there is no need to be shy or worried anymore about wearing my strings on holiday in the future with these friends in addition to my wife.
@chickenleg, I can understand where you are coming from. Have been trying to get my wife to try out thongs as well though not much success. LOL.

From what i read on Phuket groups on Facebook, it's mostly Russians there at the moment, so i don't know if that has anything to do with it (as in less liberal Europeans etc around).

If very few people are in thongs or topless try boldly setting an example. You will probably find others who want, or wish, to wear less will gravitate to you.
If you are consistent in your timing and location, by the third day they will start wearing less around you. First day checking to see if you are asked to cover up, second day you are establishing a pattern and they hope you are their again, third day they are ready to join. |

russians (female) were the biggest main thong wearers in the 2010s when i went often (and patong was the best beach to thong because of its sleazy nature/less family holiday makers/more adult crowd). the same for pattaya and islands near there. had some positive experiences there with approvals in short conversations (even with a girl from tunisia).
i would have thought with the sharp increase in thongs in recent years thailand would feature more thongs than ever, especially on younger ladies.
i hope those beach walks videos are wrong or just bad timing.
all said and done i think russians shouldn't be allowed to travel anywhere given current events and whilst i met some (very few) relatively friendly russians i met a lot of the types that are scum and quite frankly i hope they get bombed in due time. |

Date Posted：12/28/2022 09:34:20Copy HTML honestly just looking at the patong video it looks about right for as many thongs as it always was. it was never a large amount and exclusively to women and usually with boyfriends. yes russians will wear dorkshorts or speedos (older) and nothing more as the assumption one is gay and the homophobic sentiment tying thongs/g-strings on men to being gay is overwhelmingly the case amongst many russian men. only a few rare occasions i've had females be very positive to me and they are the rare exception.
any tourist destination frequented by russians with many russian restaurants serving russian food with menus in russia cyrillic will be inundated by what i refer to as white russian trash (nha trang especially and some countries in the EU that will give them a visa). the brits have their loudmouthed bellends (they go everywhere), americans have rednecks (don't really travel internationally though) travelling karen's are probably worse overseas. another equivalent is probably the cashed up australian bogan. fortunately they mostly visit bali and stick to Kuta (easy to avoid).
honestly patong is fine for a thong as no-one cares really because of its background as i mentioned. some of the smaller beaches around phuket are nicer but you might be the only one. |

I wear skimpy G-Strings all the time and have never had a problem on any beach or hotel pool.
Some of the beaches we have stayed at:-
Pattaya
Hau Hin
Patong
Karon
Chaweng.
Chaweng beach on Koh Samui is our favourite, the northern part is inside a lagoon so the water it is calm, shallow and warm.

Forget fireworks, lasers, Songkran is a huge water/fight festival that lasts, depending on where you are 1-3 days.
We were in Koh Samui for the 2018 Songkran and I have never seen anything like it.
Almost everyone will have a large water gun like a big AK47, but anything that will hold water.
Once you step out onto the street you are fair game to everyone.
I came out of my hotel and lined up a Thai girl and let her have a blast from my water gun, half a second later I had buckets of water over my head and it did not stop until we sought refuge in a bar. I thought I was safe sipping on a beer until a small girl maybe 4/5 years old blasted me through the open window. Along the streets there are drums/baths of water to fill up your gun/bucket or anything that can hold water, what an incredible day.

Mixed feelings. The main thing to note is that Phuket (especially Kata) is seriously 95% Russians at the moment - apparently to do with the war - and the males are very 'alpha' and macho so generally don't wear swimwear that's too skimpy - however they do also seem to mind their own business and not pay attention to anyone but themselves. Around the beaches and my hotel I had varied reactions to my assortment of thongs, and didn't see any other guys in thongs. Plenty of speedos on guys and women in thongs though.
The funniest part of my trip was one day when I walked back into the hotel and changed into a N2N thong to jump into the pool because it was so damn hot, when the room phone rang and hotel staff asked if i could open the door. Thinking it was just a housekeeping lady, i opened the door without covering myself to find the female hotel manager and two housekeeping staff there with a little birthday cake singing happy birthday to me! Said to the wife I wish I had taken a photo with them LOL.
Would I return though? Yes i most likely would as there's still a good amount of international tourists and the thonging scene is still 100x better than Australia where I am. I would personally like to see more of a mixture of nationalities though. Please note - this is all just my own opinion and others who have been recently may feel differently! |

All beaches had their good points - Karon seemed to have the nicer blue water and wasn't as crowded as Kata. Patong would perhaps be the better one for thonging as it's the one where all the hustle and bustle and craziness is and more of a mix of nationalities.
We're actually considering going again later in the year however this time bringing our young son, so hoping i'll still get to thong and will see if it seems any different next time. |

My wife doesn't like me wearing a thong because she says I'm the only guy who wears them - oddly enough there is 1 or 2 guy in a thong or rio back but always when she isn't with me. So for now I can get away with tanning but have to wear shorts overtop for beach walking |

Please cutback on starting new threads. Post replies to to existing threads on the subject.
If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly.
