Date Posted:10/22/2019 11:21:19Copy HTML Articles and stories about thonging seem to becoming more and more popular in today's media. So far most of these articles promote thong wearing for women as being normal and no longer an oddity. Often these articles, including this one recall the thonging trend of the 1980's. Usually no discussion are made about why the 80's trend did not continue. Often these articles imply that there is something different or more socially acceptable with today's thongs, but again, there is no real explanation of why this is. No matter what these articles say, they mostly promote the wearing of thong swimwear and imply that thong swimwear and the women who wear thongs are perfectly normal. Let me state that another way. These articles usually don't say that thong swimwear should be normal, but instead that they ARE normal. All this of course is promoting wider acceptance for thong swimwear on women. Now we need more written about why men who wear thongs should be just as widely accepted. Below are links to just two of the many articles about the resurgence of thongs. These reports reinforce the fact that that thong swimwear is here again, at least on the women.

Re:The press and online media continue to discuss thong swimwear Date Posted:10/22/2019 04:16:48Copy HTML I don't know whether to cheer or groan with exasperation. As you stated, the articles talk about the acceptance of thong swimwear on women. However, it seems that society, with every amount of acceptance of women dressing sexy--from thong swimwear to tights/leggings--it regiments dressing sexy or revealing to a "woman thing" and outside the realm of men's wear. Indeed, it seems to send a subliminal message that, if you're a man, you *don't* dress like this.
I used to think that a man that wears a bikini swimsuit--not even a thong--was swimming against the tide. More often in the past few years it seems like a man wearing a bikini (let alone a thong) is swimming against the storm surge. It's all very discouraging. :-( Sorry for the "downer", but that's just what I see going on.

Re:The press and online media continue to discuss thong swimwear Date Posted:10/23/2019 03:19:53Copy HTML I think your groan is perhaps projected. I've been more and more adventurous in my swimsuit choices over the past 15 years (since I was 20) and as of recently, I notice people don't really pay much attention to me being different in a crowd like they use to. The younger generation couldn't care less who is gay or not, and I know that isn't related to swimsuit choices, but my point is when people stop caring about sexual orientation norms, they also stop caring a lot about gender norms.
Of course, most men will still shop in stores and wear what is easy to get, and big manufacturers will make typical shit like they always have. But it is easier than ever to put your own style together from specialty online shops and people are more accepting than ever of those that choose to go against the norm.

Re:The press and online media continue to discuss thong swimwear Date Posted:11/05/2025 04:02:29Copy HTML Here is -obviously- an "artificial" intelligence piece lifted somewhere from the Menusas website! Sort of sounds like something lifted from a certain board member's (cough- borat bot) post!!! Yet look for what it's trying to say- and it's all true!
"Discussing the male thong, it's been viewed as an important variation after being considered as an object of derision in the public arena. It's nowadays that mens thongs are acknowledged with great affection by the male populace anyway behind it, lays a decent battle for the mens underwear business to frame changes in its structure that it has now .." |
