In my view age doesn't come into it. That's what I wear on the beach to sun & swim - period.

It is a piece of clothing. Nothing more. If you like to wear it, go for it. Don't let the fashion-gestapo or the prudes rule your life. I just turned 74 and I still wear thongs and g-strings. And I don't have the body that I had with 20.

Reasonable video, although nothing we don't know already. Two things I particularly noted. One was the almost obligatory Borat mention. IMO Borat was the worst thing that ever happened for male thongs. The other was the admission from the anti-thong woman that children don't care what people wear.

Personally, if it is at lifeguarded pools, it will likely be when, based on the number of complaints they have received, the authority at each of the dozen or so pools I regularly visit tells me I can't sun in my g-string. In a perfect world it will never happen, but one has to be realistic about such things. So far so good at 62.

At the beach it will simply be whatever age I am when I decide I no longer wish to. There are a number of things that could affect this. Possibly it will be when I no longer wish to go to the beach at all. Don't hold you breath on this one.

Yes, I thought it was a fairly reasonable discussion too. The presenters didn't try to inflict their views too much or indulge in "pearl clutching." The advocate was very sensible and I liked that she went straight in to mention the comfort of a good thong, which is where some people stumble initially. The journalist critic had absolutely nothing reasonable to offer and her dislike was just that; a personal opinion that she just doesn't think they look nice. She is entitled to voice that opinion, but I do wish people wouldn't say "most people don't want to see....(fill in with whatever thing they are uncomfortable seeing)." How do they know? Does it matter? I and many others do like to see bottoms rather than a load of fabric making bottoms look weird. I do think that the presenter did raise an issue we probably all have to juggle and that is why not go naked if you are avoiding tan lines? We've discussed this forever on this forum and it is a fair point. I also agree with @Grabeach that it was nice that the effect on children was discussed sensibly. Lizzie looked fantastic in her thong too. So glad they picked someone very articulate and sensible to stand up for thong wearing. I still think the best answer to why you wear a thong is: "Why not? We all have a bottom and I'd like mine to be the same colour as the rest of me."

Best comment - 'it's the thin end of the wedge' - exactly! Overall, a good interview.

Unfortunately, they only showed video of women wearing thongs. So, by video inference, the discussion was about women wearing thongs, especially with yet another comment about the Borat "mankini".

Sadly all the time there are journalists with views on thongs like Sally Jones writing and contributing to the media, thongs and thong wearers are going to get a hard time. With a hatred as strong as hers it was no surprise she threw in the ‘Horrid Green Borat Mankini’ comment..... just went to show how little she knew on the subject in my mind, she clearly doesn’t know the difference between a slingshot and a thong!!!!! No question of a doubt she has a very strong personal dislike of thongs, and/or anyone that dares to wear one. Any good journalist worth their salt, would have given a balanced, un-biased point of view......pointing out their pros and cons, very unprofessionally Sally did not, allowing her own negative views on the matter to no doubt influence many watching. On the other hand....... What a breath of fresh air Lizzy Cunndy was. How good did she look? I loved the way she was wearing that thong high on her hips, Very sexy! Liked how she didn’t push her views onto others, just wanting to point out the styles comfort and practicality, while defended her right to wear what she wanted at any age and rightly expected not to be judged for doing so...... Unfortunately Lizzy I have news for you....... All the time there’s the likes of Sally Jones around....... That ain’t never going to happen..... OH, and if you think she makes it hard for you girls......just think what she writes about us boys!!!!!...... Thankfully I have a thick skin and don’t pay any attention to what the likes of Sally Jones have to say. I’m 50 next year and have ABSOLUTELY no plans to stop thonging any time soon...... YOUR NEVER TO OLD TO WEAR A THONG!

As others have implied, being too old is a state of mind. I'm 75 and still wear my thongs to the beach. My preference is for a slightly wider waistband... keeps the 'look' somewhat more balanced for a man who caries a few extra pounds. Correct sizing avoids that muffin top look and minimizes people saying " There is  a man too old to wear one! " ~ ~ ~  A big smile and a positive acknowledgement of others goes a long way to minimizing potential negative reactions. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  My current faves are from JM Skinz in Montreal Canada. I was able to get a range of colours from Bright to Subtle during a sale they had two years ago. I sometimes need to alter the position of the pouch to butt strap to keep the abdominal line a little below my natural belly crease ~ That's my concession to the effects of gravity and  aging ~ ~ ~ All the best to everyone on this new version of the ThongBoard ~ ~ ~ MicroRon on Vancouver Island ~ ~ ~ The Big Island in Beautiful British Columbia ~ ~ ~
