Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:03/15/2004 03:20:50Copy HTML I've never been to Redand Island, but I have been to Langkawi. It is of concern that Malaysia is an islamic country and their concept of decent swimwear is quite different than in Europe or the U.S. That said, they do invite tourists to their country and the majority are from Europe. They obviously do tend to go skimpier. If I were you I would do a Google search on topless beaches in Malaysia to see if there is any anecdotal experiences out there that people have written about. If you find there are, then I would say you might be safe. You might email your hotel there to find out if there is topless sunbathing. That would give you an idea to how open they are to the thong concept. But I would tread carefully no matter. In southeast Asia I would say that Thailand and Bali are both somewhat more accepting of thongs/topless. I've seen men in thongs on Kuta Beach in Bali. And in both places scores of european/australian men in speedos. |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:03/24/2004 06:38:37Copy HTML Thonging in Malaysia can be tricky. Don't go to the public beaches where local Malays hang out with their families and such. The local or rural Malays are a conservative bunch. You can see women wearing full body track suit with a head scarf swimming. (quite a turn off). You can see many of these sights on the mainland beaches, even in some resorts which are more family orientated. However, when you are off the mainland in many of the islands, toplessness and thongs can be found. It is not very rampant though. I have been to Langkawi island and saw some caucasion women in thongs in a 3 star resort. My wife, who is a local Chinese girl wore a thong also. (Fairly rare also) When we move to a 5 star resort, the atmosphere changes quite a bit. Saw a few more women in thongs and a French man in thongs also. I think the logic should be the more you pay, the lesser people will bother you. (You're paying for more privacy also) A friend of mine saw a local Chinese girl in a g-string in Pulau Redang. She must be pretty daring. The last I have heard is that pulau redang has become a mass tourist destination, mainly local tourists. Thongs and toplessness should definitely raise an eyebrow. I imagine people would be pointing fingers just short of confronting you. Pulau Perhentian in contrast is an unofficial topless island. (Next to Redang) You get mainly European back packers and basic accomodation. Toplessness and thongs are more common. My wife also went topless there. I was tempted to wear a pair of thongs there but my bulging beer gut stopped me. Don't wanna spoil the view of others. Environment there is very relaxed there and nobody would bother you anyway except for maybe nudity. If you want total peace of mind, justgo north into thailand and you can enjoy thonging with total abandonment! |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:04/26/2004 04:57:49Copy HTML Reply to : krazyhippo Should be ok at the top few resorts in langkawi. Tanjung rhu, datai and such. Tioman should be quite crowded. Been there last year and atmosphere not very condusive. Lots of kids and such. Go to perhentian island, and lang tengah. More foreigners go there and less family orientated. One girlfriend of mine actually tried it in one of the port dickson resorts when the kids are not around. Obviously, she got loads of men staring. Can be a bit uncomfortable to me. If it does not affect you, you virtually can do it everywhere with a bit of consideration for families. |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:12/07/2006 11:14:26Copy HTML So far, for Malaysia, only one ang-moh man. In P.Rawa (that expensive private island), saw two ang-moh ladies. Anyway, I doubt these ang-moh are Malaysians lah. There one time, saw a Chinese in tiny loose 3/4 cut bikini bottom. From far, her look okay, walk nearer, then noticed her face cannot make it but her figure is very perfect and nice. After coming out of the water, she never bothered to pull/adjust her bikini bottom. Wah....I can tell you, the whole 3/4 cut bikini bottom slide almost into her arse. (it became a thong instantly! LOL) By the time I asked my girlfriend to see, the Chinese lady and her male accompany walked far away liao. Anyway, in Malaysia, most oftenly seen is girls in bikini and that's common. In Singapore, seen thrice (woman in thong) at Sentosa beach. In Hong Kong beaches spotted but not confirm. In Thailand, not difficult. Ang moh ladies going topless far more than those wearing thong. |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:06/30/2009 06:53:04Copy HTML Hello Podgy,
I have never been to Pulau Redang, but, what a friend told me about that place who visited there 8 years ago. The place was untouched. Well preserved and everything is cheap. Now, it is over popular, price go up! 1.5L cost RM9! That is freaking expensive. Just like Pulau Tioman, long long ago, everything cheap. Apart of this, the marine park was clear, can see fishes swimming, don't have to wear snorkeling mask. Now, water chalky like shit. My gf have two pair of "fake" Wicked-Weasel thong bikini. They are fake ones, completely the same as WW, with micro front cutting. She have kept them for a very very very long time! No chance to wear. I suppsoe my gf will be willing to put on hers if she has a female accompany. For normal bikini, that's pretty fine for her. |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:12/12/2010 11:44:04Copy HTML Hi Jojoma
Sadly thong in Malaysia is a issue but they do have many isolate beaches, you just need to drive. But never go alone. Think thonging in Hotel pools should not be a problem, just try to stay out of sight or cover up while moving around. Singapore is not that open too, just that if there's no complaints does not mean we can. As you read this forum, you don't read people saying thong is approval. Public pool or Sentosa......is the same. Was a hot day today, anyone get any good tan? |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:12/12/2010 04:38:20Copy HTML As mentioned, I do it out of sight. I did swimming in broad daylight in my thong / g-string but not too long, shy of even hotel occupants viewing from the top. hehe. In the pool, we'll just need to know where to face our bum. :P
I have a sun-up/sun-down adjustable back, from the front the strings look really feminine and even though it's not thong back, it actually feels more embarassing than wearing my thong undies (that look like a higher cut swimming trunk from front) for swimming. front view that is. |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:02/18/2011 01:00:34Copy HTML Went to Ipoh, Perak the other day. Stayed at Ritz Garden hotel. :) The pool was small and covered.
I was there at night, only a few attendants at the gym around. I changed into my g-string and went to a nice corner and entered the pool. There was a security camera but I tried my best to be careful. Swim around nicely in my g. :D There was no one there and all alone, I even got adventurous and took everything off! Most part of the pool was covered by a room on top, the open areas are only visible to a few rooms. I wanted to wear my thong during the day too but change in plans and I had to go off. Shouldn't be a problem to wear a thong, walk to the shower place and get into the pool. Side view isn't that obvious. was wearing this one cos I don't have swimming g-string http://www.n2nbodywear.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=N2N&Product_Code=BT1&Category_Code=GStringUnder Thin side strings are fine at night but day time I think people may think I'm naked so if it's for day, I'd say my SU/SD stuff or my thong undies. :P |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:03/18/2011 06:00:09Copy HTML gnoht,
Well yes and no :) It was the beach at the hotel and since they also offered beds (not on the beach but only on the top where they had grass) you could say it was private. But it was not secluded you could walk from this one over to another expensive hotels beach and also to a public beach on the side.. So yeah in words it was the private beach strip owned by the hotel but we where in public there where also people from other hotels and possible people that walked from the public beach. |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:04/03/2011 09:57:26Copy HTML I only wore it thong in penang one, that also in Gurney Hotel's pool. It was actually my 1st time trying thong in a pool. That also I removed my trunk when I was in the pool.
anyway i think this hotel http://www.millenniumhotels.com/my/copthornepenang/index.html can be used for thonging. Not so much on the pool side but you can walk down to the beach, it's quite private as it's not linked directly to any other stretch since it's blocked by rocks. You could get occasional stares as people may come down (usually hotel guests) to stroll at the beach (maybe a walk after breakfast or lunch) so I'm sure there will be time where crowd is minimal. I didn't thong at the pool nor at the beach though, the water doesn't look nice. It's just a good stretch for thonging privacy. |

Re:Thonging in Malaysia? Date Posted:04/21/2011 03:44:04Copy HTML Was staying in Cititel Mid Valley at Kuala Lumpur the past few days. Went swimming and tanning at the hotel pool in my JS Black Thong. Asked front office if it was ok to swim in a thong and was told "they were ok and up to individuals". So off i went. The pool was pretty quiet in the afternoon except for a few hotel guests. Occasional stares but overall ok. I was at the pool everyday after breakfast from 12pm thru till 3pm...tanning mostly and swimming.
My girlfriend joined me on one of the days (she preferred to shop instead!) in her WW 489 bottom and 312 top, wet look red. We tanned in a quiet corner and I must say the guests (mixed of asians and caucasians) we met at the pool were pretty cool about it. Also, at the health club on L3 at Cititel Mid Valley hotel, they have got jazcuzzi, sauna, steam bath and massage. Its open to hotel guests and to the general public, you got to pay a fee though (RM30). In there you can walk around in your thongs or g-strings. Doesn't bother them. I only went to the health spa once, too expensive to do it everyday. I was in my JS G-string throughout when i was there. They do have separate section for men and ladies but at the common corridors and resting areas...you can bump into some chicks. One commented i looked cute in my white JS G-string, a little see-thru after coming out from the jazcuzzi! That's my report...cheers to all |
