hello,

sorry but my English is not so good but I hope that you understand me.

I'm new on this site. I'm from Belgium.

Men of 34 years; 1,84m en 105 kg.

Can I wear a thong on the beach in Lanzarotte or Fuerteventura or Spain ? People with 105 kg are acceptable whitout  bad looks ?

Here in Belgium I have verry bad looks. A potbelly person in a thong It is a shame. I was sad and I have never wear a thong on the beach.

Can I have your opinion please what I can do.

If I speak over a thong it is a G-string I hope so.

Thank you.

Sorry about the late reply of this post but I think the following: -

Nudity in public on the continent is NOT illegal so you can strip off as much as you like when tanning, the fact that many people wear swimming costumes and cover up is purely because the trend of the british and american mentality that nudity is seen as something sexual (naughty) and they chose to cover up. Also I think that the british/american influence on the continet has affected the natives of each country by "forcing" them to abide with our "ettiquette". In my opinion I think if the tourist places in europe were not tourist places they would be much more relaxed about nudity and nakedness.

If you look at any non-tourist place on the continent (take Germany for example) the non-tourist places there are very open about their nudity and thus having communal naked swimming pools, saunas etc. (yes I have experienced these as I worked there for 6 months)

Coming back to the question in hand (unless the laws have changed due to higher tourism) you can wear a thong on the beach anywhere in europe if you chose.

Bigeasy, it wasn't the legal side of things i was asking about. I realise as long as your not exposing yourself, you are acceptable in the eyes of the law.

I was originally asking to find out if anyone had had any experiences thonging on a beach in southern Spain. Which beach , where, etc

As you know i wore a thong on the beach, i had to "play it by ear" as i didn't get a response quick enough on the thread.

If you've not read my thonging for the first time thread. This was made easier, as the swimming costume shop that was attached to the hotel were selling Male beach thongs for 8 Euros. In bright Yellow.

I do agree with you comments, it is only our paranoia which limits when and where we thong.

Talking about Spain, and Europe ingeneral, I'm totally agree with anhoter message board contributor when he says: "Nudity in public on the continent is NOT illegal so you can strip off as much as you like when tanning".

No problem with the LAWS about wearing thong or about nudity (except for specific and explicited restrictions or reglamentations in some places), but you have to use your common sense about the customs and maners of the people around, it's all --- and, why not?, be a little risky and innovative on your own behaviour, irrespective of wath people and groups are going to think about you--- that's my opinion as an spaniard man in his late fourties.

Staying seminaked or totally naked in an spanish beach,  pool or public park is NOT the same than be an exhibitionist, and people will be able of discriminate one thing and the other. The only important thing is your own open and sincere attitude.

In Spain, generally speaking, nowdays the most of the people is quiet liberal,  respectful and even indiferent about wath kind or size your swimwear  is.

Hi, I have been to Spain several times. Yes it is legal to wear a thong anywhere, but you are wondering about feeling comfortable. Men are permitted to wear thongs in big town beaches and the more upmarket resorts, girls and women are allowed to wear them just about on any beach. Just avoid the "lager lout" beaches. Good luck,   Andrea

Hi, I'm going to Torremolinos, Andalucia next august.
I 'd like not to be alone in thong on the beach!
Someone already wrote me that it's possible to find there some male thongers.
Now I'm asking for the best places to go thonged. Carihuela? Playa Bajondillo?

Thanks a lot

Hi,

I have been to Torremolinos two years ago. I have seen only one other male thong wearing guy. On the female side there are on every part of the beach at least one.

I wore a small thong and a g-string

I received nice comments and interesting looks.

Please put your thong on and be proud.

The first holiday when I went swimming in a thong was in Callella. I went to the beach everyday and even swom to the divingboard which was in the ocean. I didn't feel unconfortable in my HOM thong, and enjoyed the holiday.

The second day you could see 2 other men in thong swimming suits as well.

My wife and me use to wear thong for a long time on beaches here in Spain, and we've never had any problem at all... We live in Barcelona, and all the beaches in Catalunya are good to wear thongs.

I have been to the water park in Mallorca in 1998 or thereabouts. Great park, but didn't see any guys in thongs but there were a couple of girls wearing them: one (about 16) in a very skimpy string thong.
I don't see it being a problem for a female thonger, but for a guy it might take considerable courage!

At the begining of June,  I went to Mallorca with a group of guys on a bachelor / stag party and we dressed the stag up in a gstring for our visit to the Western Water Park.

The place was full of local kids as it was a Saturday so he got loads of mothers and kids looking. Nothing was said though.

I wore Skinzwear thong and gstring on Magalluf beach, Palma Nova beach and the two beaches next to it. Not with my friends, alone and I didn't have anything said to me. I was a little surprised that nothing was said on Magalluf beach.

I just got back from Spain and thonging (including my Wicked Weasel see-thru gstring) was no problem anywhere.  It was such a common site everywhere (Ibiza, Mallorca, Barcelona) that no one cared.  In fact, I was at the Gothic area (very busy)  having dinner out doors when a naked man walked by.  Everyone looked but did not mind.  Afterwards we approached a police officer to see if this was legal.  He stated that it was allowed and that you would occasionally find someone walking in the nude.

Hi,

I do have to agree with you. A friend of mine went several times to Spain (along the coast east side, Mediterenian) and did n't have any problems even in the nude! The people overthere seem to become much more tolerant as most of the people are overhere! Textile, thong, g-string, nudity...

Everything seems to be accepted, (even on the same beach) therefore, next year we go to Spain.

Beware : no offence to anyone is allowed! No sex on the beach and so on! That is indeed a must to keep us, thongers or naturist or nudist, be accepted!!!

For me no problem, but in Belgium, a city opened a nude beach (the only one on the Belgian Coast, and already there were gay's to take half off the beach! So, the only beach to be free is in danger because of how the gay's behave (sorry to say that but is the truth). I do not have any problem with gay men, let that be understood, but I have sadly to say what is happening on our one and soulely beach.! It could be closed down because of some freaky men. Would be to sad for all the family's with children who go there.

Greetz,

Chris

I was in Madrid recently and stayed at a hotel that had a spa that consisted of a bunch of different connected pools with jets and bubbles. There was also a sauna and a steam room. All of these were in a nice glass-enclosed space. I asked if swimsuits were required - yes, and then if a thong was okay - yes, so I wore my Speedo thong. It was in the middle of the day and there were only 2 or 3 50-60 yr old men and the same number of women. The men wore typical loose shorts and the women one-pieces. It was really peaceful, nothing was said about my bare ass, in fact I think it may have drawn one of the women to strike up a conversation with me, which was a bit difficult as my spanish is very poor and her english was worse.

Anyway, another example of - act normally and you will be treated normally.

Cheers

Hi - I have a holiday booked to La Cala - a small fishing village (apparently), near Fuengirola and within public transport distance of Marbella. Does anyone have thonging experience of the less developed areas and more rural beaches? Are the locals ok with tourists wearing thongs on their beach? I've also heard this might be more of a family resort although I'm going at the end of high season so I'm hoping there won't be so many families around. Any thoughts or advice? And does anyone know La Cala specifically?

Many thanks for any feedback you may be able to give! - nic

Hi guys,

Next week my b/f and I are heading to Catalunya to an area called Hospitalet de l'Infant in the Costa Daurada.

I know there is a naturist beach and campsite there, but wanted to know if anyone knew about the other campsite and beaches just north.

As these will not be naturist, but still 'I hope' we can thong in them.

I really love the idea of a more liberal style campsite where I can relax in my thong and preferably, walk to the beach without dressing up.

Costa del Sol report
I've just got back from a week on the Costa del Sol on the south coast of Spain. The local beach (not one of the main resorts) was fairly empty and I was the only thonger for most of the week. One afternoon a young couple set up maybe 100 yards away and she was wearing a thong but it was the only other thong I saw on that beach. The resort of Fuengirola had more thongs although the beach was vastly busier so, relatively speaking, there still weren't that many. That said, I had no problems wearing a thong amongst the crowds so I think it's safe to say that thongs are acceptable even if they're not overly common. I hope that helps any others considering a break there. - Nic

We went to Cadiz last year (in May). The beach stretches along the fornt of the new town and beyond and, although the beach was quite quiet it being the start of the season, I did see a few thong wearers - all girls. I wore a g-string when walking to the quieter end of the beach where I would sunbathe nude. A girl there with her family wore only a g-string. Some people walked the entire length of the beach, as I did on a few occasions (but naked). Some girls went topless but other than a few brief bikinis I saw no evidence of thongs. At the end of the beach there was a sprinkling of nudists. Not sure what the beach is like when busier - if it is like beaches I have been to in Menorca and Fuerteventura there should be more thongs visible although since public nudity is allowed in Spain (on and off the beach!) I will be nude other than when I visit beach bars etc.

We got back from Marbella, Spain and found that many of the people on the beaches were topless and in thongs.  It was a non-event for me in my g-string because it was just acceptable swimwear.

I've just come back from Spain and am very disappointed!

I searched the shops for thong underwear and could find none. As for swimwear, racks and racks of long board shorts and typically only one style of large speedo type briefs if at all in any shop.

I went to the beach just north of Benicarlo Marina (Costa de Azahar on the E coast of Spain), for two days and saw two woman wearing a thong over the two days and no men... they were nearly all wearing long shorts. I would describe this beach as off the main drag and not a typical family beach.

I went to Aquarama water park, Benicassim, (n the province of Castelló, on the Costa del Azahar) where I saw several women wearing thongs, but the majority of men wore board shorts, (75%) and Hip shorts (30%), the rest wore big speedos or two seen wearing boxer/brief underwear.

A very disappointing trend...

I visited two beaches in southern spain on March 20th and March 21st.  The beach in cadiz on the 21st was windy but quite a few people were out.  All the guys I saw on the Cadiz beach wore board shorts.  All the women I saw on the Cadiz beach wore bikinis but they were basically two piece modest suits.  The beach on the 20th was a warm beautiful day near fuengirola (west of malaga) on the costa del sol.  I visited the beach at capo pino and the beach at capo pino west of the natural monument.  I saw lots of topless women and some thonged topless women on both beaches.  As I went west towards the naturist beach I saw many naturists.  I also noted at least half of the men even on the non-naturist beach were in speedos or small trunks with very few board shorts.  I saw three men in thongs and more than 15 women in thongs.  Walking west toward the naturist beach showed the usual number of naturists although most of the nudists were in their 40s 50s and 60s.

Wore a thong ever day when stayed in Almeria (Spain), town of Requetes de Mar. Lovely long beach and pleanty of women walking along it topless and in thongs and the odd guy thonging like me. There was a nude area towards one end so certainly no trouble thonging in that area although better to remove the thong and just walk naked along like everyone else.

Got to love the beaches of spain.

On a nudist (or naturist) beach, it is indeed very strange to wear anything. It is like walking on a textile beach in the nude. I wouldn't recommend it, being a naturist myself ;-)

I have worn thongs and g-strings in Spain and never had any problems.
On my last holiday to Spain (Costa del Sol) I mainly wore my smallest g-strings. I wore my sheer white 457 WW and holy rainbow 453 WW by the pool at the apartment complex we stayed at. No one ever complained, people did look but then people often do if I walk round the pool in a g-string.
I have seen lots of women in Spain in thongs and g-strings, I have not seen as many men but you see more men in thongs than any other location I have been to.

Re:Thonging in Spain.

Date Posted:05/26/2010 09:41:43Copy HTML

I'm from Spain, and I can say you that on most beaches, you can use thongs, strings, or even be naked without any problem. It's only important to avoid wearing those garments at family beaches. Probably, even in those beaches, nobody will say you anytingh, but you can get some unpleasant looks if there are people with children around.

Other matter is what most people usually is wearing on spanish's beaches. There are many women doing topless, and wearing two pieces bikinis. A few women wearing thongs or g-strings. And hardly any men wearing thongs. Most men wear trunks, because for most people fashion is most important than tanning (and I think also because they are embarrassed when wearing little swimwears). People that's searching for a perfect tan usually go to naturist beaches (there is a lot in spain), or to non urban long beaches, where usually you can wear anything (or not a thing) without attracting attention if you walk a little and go deep in the beach (most families with children usually stays at the beginning of beaches).

Re:Thonging in Spain.

I'm not from Barcelona, and I live far away from this city. I don't know Barcelona's beaches, but I recommend you simply going to a beach outside the urban city. For example, I know Playa Mar Bella is a semi-naturist beach (there are people wearing swimwears, and other wearing nothing), so you can wear anything you want at this beach.

But at Spain you're not limited to naturist beaches, of course. Generally, you can wear minimal suits in any beach, it's legal, and nobody will say you anything. If you're a little more shy, you only have to take a look at the beach before take off your clothes. On most beaches you'll see women doing topless and/or thonging, and at those places you'll have any problem.

I hope you enjoy your holidays.

Hi Rigoberto33
Can you clarify something for me? I thought it was legal tobe nude anywhere in Spain as long as you did not conduct yourself in an offensive manner i.e. you can walk along the street nude in Barcelona or be nude on the beach.
Cheers.

Re:Thonging in Spain.

Date Posted:06/04/2010 01:51:20Copy HTML

Ok, nudeandhappy, I'm going to try to clarify this:

In Spain the law says it's not illegal to be nude on the street (neither on the beaches, naturally). But in most cities, there are some local regulations about this. So in fact, you can not stay nude on the street in Barcelona (recently I heard at the news of a new local regulation, thanks to you can be fined even if you are only trunk nude in this city).

But at beaches, usually there isn't any regulation about nudism, so you can be nude in almost any beach (I heard some time ago, there was some controversy about that on some beaches at Cadiz).

Anyway, you can find a lot of naturist beaches in Spain. As well, you will not have any problem to be naked if you want on most beaches. But it's better if you choose non-urban beaches, and even better if you do it in discrete spots (far away from the family areas). Most beaches in Spain are large enough to have space for textile and non-textile (naked) users.

A information: Some days ago, I saw on TV a piece of news about a poll that says: About 32% of people from Spain was planning to make nudism on beaches this summer. That's not bad, not? ;)

Re:Thonging in Spain.

Many thanks for the clarification although it is only of interest since I now live in Crete. There are no nudist beaches near me so I need to wear a g-string during summer months however when the tourist season has finished I am able to sunbathe nude and the weather is usually very nice until the end of December :-)

I have travelled to Spain every year since 2005 and found that thongs are not a problem on any beaches.  I have been nude (and thonged) on the main beach in Barcelona several times.  No one said anything.
It is important to know that naturism is accepted in Spain.  Don't take it any further.
