I feeli like I see more and more thong swimsuits on women in general. Went to a waterpark almost every woman I saw had a kini or less. Hopefully this helps break down the stigma of thongs in general with men and women.

@UpstateThonger it looks like thongs are becoming more acceptable by the society nowadays than years ago. I know water parks usually have dress code saying no to thong bikinis just to keep it family-friendly because of the kids around.

@BeachGirl I agree even if its slower than I would like! Whenever I'm in Europe, I'll wear a bikini as my default, but I've seen more and more men wearing a smaller kini style bottom. At the clothing optional beaches I always strip down in a thong and enjoy the sun. But I've actually seen more thongs as a default at water parks lately. Not sure if its indicative of the area I live in, but I've definitely noticed it too.

@UpstateThonger Are thongs legal in NY State Parks? I ask because I live in north central Pennsylvania with no access to beaches. Unfortunately, thongs are not permitted in PA state parks and I know they are legal in OH state parks. I have not been able to find any information about NY state parks. It would be wonderful if I could travel a couple hours to go to a state park or lake in NY and wear a thong in public. I do live near a couple PA state parks with swimming facilities, and I have worn smaller but swim full coverage swim briefs in the past. However, even with these, I have been asked to change. I have had success wearing thongs and micro g-strings at the wave pools in Allegheny County in Pittsburgh with no issues. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to any of the wave pools this year. The only time I was able to wear a thong in public this year was when I went to Florida in March. That trip was a bust because the temperatures were in the low to mid 60s. Even though it was cold, I managed to get in a few days walking all of the beaches in Volusia County in a tiny g-string. I am debating about going somewhere later this fall to get some much needed sun. Per this topic, I would never dare to wear a thong in any water park in Pennsylvania. I have not been to Sandcastle in Pittsburgh in a while, and I’m sure there are women who wear cheeky bikinis and possibly thongs, but I would think no men have been able to get away with wearing a thong at this waterpark and go on any slides or do the lazy river. I always wondered if I could wear a small swim brief underneath shorts when leaving the change room and go to the wave pool and take off the shorts to get some sun. I think they always have employees stand outside the restroom/change rooms to make sure no one is wearing inappropriate swimwear per their policy. I am just looking for the closest place to where I live to where I can travel and just lay out and get some sun wearing just a thong or g-string. I cannot afford to travel to Florida every other weekend nor do I have the time to travel to the beaches in Chicago, NJ, MD, the state parts in OH, etc. I do not mind wearing them in public or on a crowded beach, I just want to know where they are legal so I do not get harassed, asked to change, or asked to leave. I don’t even have a private backyard to where I can lay out in privacy.

If yes, the double-standard is alive and well! We men need to start pushing back. It's been a few years, but I've went an email to park or municipal pool managers. It's usually not too difficult to find the appropriate manager. I make it brief, but respectful, and point out the double-standard whether it be a bikini or thong. I don't hassle the lifeguards because, typically, they're only doing what they're told to do.

There were no women wearing any bikinis on the days I visited. It was mostly older women in one piece suits with grandchildren. Good, bad, or indifferent, it was probably the minimalistic Cocksox swim briefs I was wearing. These suits allow the package to be front and center, even though everything is covered. I was lying on my stomach most of the day, so it seemed only to be an issue after I turned onto my back. This area is very conservative. Comments have also been made in the past when I was wearing the more conservative Cocksox swim trunks. Even though they cover more and hold the package closer to the body, some people still think they are too “revealing”. I guess I just need to schedule more vacation time to places where the culture allows for more minimalistic suits.

@bonzo68 I do believe they are legal. I did a double check online and it seems it’s okay as long as you’re not flashing people. But they do add that local ordinances might interpret thongs as a gray area. As long as it’s opaque and no see-thru. Of course if you’re in private property then they might say no, but I’ve seen plenty of people at local state parks/lakes wearing thongs. Do you come up often to be outdoors in a thong?

From what I have read thongs are legal in NY in any public place where swimwear is allowed at all. I wear them often in the backcountry in the Adirondacks where I live now, and used to wear them on the beaches of Lake Ontario when I lived over there, but I didn't go to state park beaches. I went to wildlife management areas instead because they have no admission charge and are less crowded. My favorite was the Lakeview WMA, and Deer Creek WMA was nice too. In both cases I brought a canoe, though some areas are accessible on foot. In my experience if you are on state lan and behave reasonably you will have no problems, though remarks may be made occasionally.

I grew up on the shores of Lake Ontario, not Lake America.
