Although not something seen on TV, this is just something that was said on TV that really bugged me.  So, I'm in the Midwest visiting my Mom.  She can't do much these days and spends the late evenings watching GSN (the Game Show Network).  While my brother condemns this waste of time, I sit through a couple of hours of some game shows, mostly just talking with Mom...   anyway, a question came on Family Feud with Steve Harvey that asked what article of women's clothing now has a men's version.   One guy said "panties" and the answer flipped over of "thong/g-string"...  

Steve Harvey was disgusted by this answer and made it clear...   he even held up the progress of the show a little to speak out about it...  looked like he was going to puke and shook his head, saying "What MAAAANNNNNN would wear a thong?"   Well, maybe he needs to get out of the TV Studios and the radio booth and visits some beaches, lakes, rivers, and swimming pools in the United States and all around the world.

Another thing, non-thong related, that he repeatedly bitches about is answers about fat asses...   He loves big, black, fat asses and he thinks any man or answer on his game show that contradicts that isn't a man or is stupid.    If someone likes big fat behinds, that's fine... but not everyone likes the same things in their women.   Ok, I'm done. :)

No, I'm not... I've been visiting my Mom for 2.5 weeks...  fixing things around her house and then sitting with her to watch TV in the late evenings each night...    I'm learning that the "great guy" Steve Harvey is very racist, ignorant, conceited, and is just an all around jerk.  Sorry, but it seems to be true.   Ok, Now I'm done. :)

 Thanks for reminding me!  GSN produced and ran the commercial linked below on an hourly basis last summer.  This is a good example of my favorite representation of thongs in the media: causal, not sexualized, just a natural swimwear option.  Not a direct shot, but still hard to miss.

That definitely reminds me of when my wife and two teenage kids went to Europe for a couple weeks 3 years ago. We spent a afternoon at a more local part of the main beach in Barcelona. It was a real eye opener for them, and all told, they didn’t feel comfortable there. They have never been to Europe before we open culture related to skin exposure. that is prevalent in many European countries. I had been around the region many times and loved this aspect. Many women were topless as well as wearing thongs. There were some guys in bikinis but not that many in thinking back about it. I think my bikini was the smallest for the men in the area. I didn’t wear a thong but definitely made it narrower in the back as I was walking to and from the nude part of the beach where I laid out for about an hour. I could not convince my family to join me but I always ask if they want to go. I would love to go back again but definitely not my kids.
