In the Bizarro cartoon today there is a swimsuit shop clerk holding a tiny men's bikini on a hanger and a very large rotund guy dressed like a tropical tourist with a camera around his neck who's reaching for the suit.  The clerk says "I'm sorry sir but I have a responsibility to other people on the beach"

Here's a direct link to the comic in question:

Quick Google search for "Bizarro archive" produces gold in the first result:

This Sunday in the "Opus" cartoon the bird Opus was at "The Thong Shack" apparently a swim suit store and was in the dressing room having trouble trying on the thong, and getting it on sideways then running into an acquaintance while all tangled up.

Opus has been in thongs several times throughout the years. I think a number of Bloom County characters have worn thongs, actually -- at least Bill The Cat and maybe Steve Dallas at some point.

Berkley Breathed drew thongs for comedic effect, nothing more. Still funny, though.

Unfortunately you are probably right, JM.  My first wife certainly felt that way.  Most middle-aged women look much better than they give themselves credit for.

The bizarro cartoon is interesting; I like the wife's expression - can't tell if she is also amused like the clerk, or quite pleased in anticipation of him wearing the thong!

Sometimes, I think women are their own worst enemy.     My wife has told me many times that I could care less what others think.    To a certain extent, that's true ...  but I'd prefer looks of appreciation not disgust from others.
