So Id like to say that I stayed in Dubai for a while in the Silicon Oasis area for a few months this year in 2021. It was a brilliant time because the flat I stayed in had many temporary residents staying for 1-3 months or so and the lifeguard was a Nigerian chap who told me that its totally ok for me (a guy in case thats not clear) to wear a thong. So I swam continuously for three months in my thong bikini bottoms and it was so freaking good. The pool was facing the desert area and not many apartments were overlooking it (and many of the ones that did were inhabited with women). I had plenty of conversations with him in my thong and he never batted an eye. Interestingly, one time there was a substitute lifeguard, a Nigerian women who wasnt that approving of it. But when I told her that the other guy allowed me, she said its ok. I absolutely loved strutting myself in that skimpy thong in front of her just out of annoyance for her trying to stop me. I swam around many people in a thong during that time and it was no problem. To avoid too many issues, I swam before 10:30 when most people went to work or between 4-5. Times in between this was largely difficult due to the sun and after 5, there were a few families so I tried to avoid it. Perhaps the best time I had was when one of my thongs along with another t shirt flew into my neigbours balcony (they were right next to each other) and she handed it to me at the pool when I came in at 6 pm (beyond my normal swimming time). She actually thought it was a kid's swimsuit till I told her it was mine . She then came to swim in the pool with me wearing my other desmiit blue thong. Since the pool was pretty shallow, she got full views of my bum in the thong and said it was quite daring and cool that I wore such skimpy swimwear. We got onto a proper conversation about how people will always forget the face so its not a big deal as long as the authorities never made a problem. A short bit later, two men and one lady (all Arabs) came in and I got a bit conscious since they were dressed quite conservatively (board shorts for the men and full covering swimsuits for the lady). I wondered about what to do but decided to continue swimming. They acknowledged me slightly at the beginning and then forgot about me till I stood up at the shallow end to answer a call and they got a look at my V cut front of the thong. I saw all three of them exchanging grins and smiling (Which means they werent offended) so I turned and showed them the back of my thong and saw them laughing through the mirrored windows of the changing room. After a while, my neighbour and these Arabs began a conversation and I joined in as well and they were super sweet to me. It was quite a rush speaking to the two men and women in my thong. Later while leaving, I made sure they could get a good look at my ass in the thong and said bye to them and left. I saw them a few days later again and struck a conversation in another thong (more smirks but still all ok). While leaving the Arab lady even told me goodbye and left. My learning has that been its a lot easier to wear a thong in dubai in areas where South Asians are lesser (I am a south asian so I am not being racist - speaking from personal experience) since they tend to judge more and also (in extreme situations) shout/criticize you for breaking traditional clothing norms. I remember even in a 4 star hotel pool in Bur Dubai, this South Asian lifeguard did not allow me to wear a speedo citing rules which is stupid since I know thats not the case. Similarly, thonging in front of a south asian family would probably elicit complaints so I was quite careful around them unless they were in the 20-30's and without kids. It s better and easier to do it in private pools such as that of apartments where there are non-south asian lifeguards. Africans and Filipinos, who commonly take up these posts are a lot easier to wear thongs around. Tips for future thongers.

MNluvthongs You forgot to say that those thong wearers were 100% female (as in every place or beach) That is NOT abundance !

Anyone here over 40? I've been wearing thongs, discreetly in pools and rivers since I was 16. Now that I'm older it really is true that you stop caring about being judged. Just do it. Now a days when I go to a hotel there could be a 250 pound lady in a tiny thong (normal for her culture) so why should I be so embarrassed to wear one when I'm skinnier and look half decent
