I'm very new to this board, so maybe there are things I have not yet figured out. On the other hand, this could be a good time to draw attention to things that seem to be wrong or missing, before I get time to get used to them and just shrug them off.

One thing that I immediately noticed when filling out my profile and adjusting the privacy settings is that when I preview it, I see lots of stuff that I had intended to be private - date of birth, email, location to the nearest hundredth of a degree. Further investigation reveals that this is how the site works; I see everything in my own profile whether it's private or not. I'd like there to be a button "View your profile as others see it", just to enable quick checking of the settings. the only way I was able to view my own profile as others see it was to copy the URL, then sign out and paste the URL, so that I was seeing what someone would see if they were not a registered member.
