I'm curious to know what it was that led us to begin shaving/waxing. For me, it was about 15yrs ago. I had purchased some Fredericks of Hollywood G-strings for men, which had an adjustable slider pouch that you could cinch down for minimal coverage. While I was excited by the idea of being able to cinch down the pouch like that, it resulted in bush popping out each side, which looked horrid. So I jumped in the shower with Mach 3 in hand and shaved the balls and shaft, and left myself with just a landing strip. It looked remarkable, and as an added bonus I noticed that it also felt much cooler and I was no longer sweating down there! This also opened up a whole new realm of thong wear, as I could now wear more minimal styles without unsightly pubes showing. I've been shaving ever since. There were really no downsides other than the few minutes it takes to get the job done. I do get the occasional razor knick on the mons pubis or top of the shaft right at the base of the landing strip, but it doesn't hurt, just bleeds for a few minutes, not a big deal. Have never knicked the balls as long as I shave early in the morning when the scrotum skin is still tight. If I keep a newish Mach 3 cartridge loaded then I can shave every day without any irritation or knicks. This also led to me shaving my chest, which is not all that hairy to begin with so I only do that once, maybe twice a week. I trim the arm pits with electric clippers every so often to keep the hairs from getting too long. So for me, those Frederick's G-strings were the catalyst. I'd love to hear stories on how/why you started shaving/waxing from anybody that would like to share.

I've done it because of Mosquitos during summer months. Often I gotten bitten terribly thinking it's only my leg hairs itching, tickling me or beads of sweat. To find out later bugs were using my blood for their daily diet. So I thought no more shave those legs at least during summer months. Next thing I knew was without anymore bites. Then I wore smaller swimwear and had to groom my pubes at least to a runway strip. Gotten weird comments and undue attention for my pubes at the nude beach. So I decided to get rid of it all because they would mock me anyway nothing to lose. Plus no chance of any bug bites down their. Learned that shaving your armpits reduced skunk factor while working out, so off it all went. After awhile I didn't want the irritation from not shaving all winter then beginning in th spring. So I began shaving all year round. Using a pool in the winter months made me look the same all year round, except for a tan.
Now I keep everything off almost shaving 5-6 times a week. Smoother I look the better I feel, no itching just smooth and buff as can be. Using fusion blade lasts longer then any I tried. Also wearing crop leggings I need my legs looking silky smooth. Sometimes I notice some woman have more hair on their body then me. Not talking about what's on your head but forearms as well. Just shake my head seeing hot good looking woman with arm hair.
At one point did notice some woman hating that I shave my legs but I did it in the face of criticism and don't regret it. Now people just expect it as I do for myself. Well off to shave again today so I look smooth as silk in the pool for tomorrow's swim. Yet I believe I need to shave again just before I go in to touch up those fast growing hairs in certain places.

I used to compete in international athletics, specifically track and field. Around 1990 or so, I started to wear thongs as underwear. Therefore, I started manscaping. It seemed silly to me to have trimmed pubic hair and still have hair on my legs. So, smooth skin was the way to go. The best news was that it showed the muscles of the legs off better. It wasn't long before many guys I knew were following suit. I'm starting laser hair removal in the next couple of weeks. I just wish I could have done it in my late teens instead of my mid 40's. I would have saved me quite a few hours of my life.

For a long time, trimmed down there with a scissors, just making the hair shorter, for ventilation. I was intrigued by the hairless look I was seeing in magazines, but was reluctant to take a blade to it.

Then, I found myself in the hospital, and had an angiogram. Since the catheter goes in through your inner thigh, they shave you for this. When I got home, I contemplated my new landing strip, which I decided I didn't care for, so out came the razor, and off  came the landing strip. Been smooth ever since.

I'm an avid runner and work out to stay tone. I could say I've sun bathed for at least 30 years of life. I love staying brown. My legs were never really hairy and so I thought I'd shave them and see how they looked.   shaved and brown. They not only looked good but feel  great. Long story short.it's no hair and brown from the ears down. It's another reason I'm looking forward to taking my tanning experience to a whole new level.

Does anybody know if there is any private sundecks @ Myrtle Beach or any Nc beaches. Would be willing to rent one (if the price isn't to high)....I would like to tan only in a Banana Peelz (genital pouch) to get an all over tan. Ive heard that the pouches may not be legal on Bird Island.I still want to g-string Bird Island but I would sure like to get a dark pouch only tan with absolutely no tan lines.

I got started by trimming when I was going away on holiday in about 1987 or 8. I was already wearing skimpy bikini and tanga styled underwear, and bought some similar swimwear. I needed to trim my bikini line area and particularly my hairy lower back.
Inevitably I started to remove more and more hair, including shaving my chest when this became trendy in the 90's as well as underarms and legs, which I would tell my friends was for my cycling and running. By this time I had started to wear thongs, both as underwear and to the beach, and the intimate trimming became shaving (of the bits that weren't too sensitive). I was leaving just a triangle of hair on the pubic bone area.
I now get a full body wax including intimate, as well as getting my ear and nose hair removed and eyebrows shaped. I'm certain people notice, but don't really seem too bothered, or are perhaps a little too embarrassed to mention it; even when I'm naked in the changing rooms at the gym or pool. I find this a little disappointing as I used to love seeing peoples reactions to my thong or tanline or lack of body hair when it was less common. I remember showering after playing badminton with my boss and 2 other colleagues a few weeks after my honeymoon in 1995. I had a very conspicuous thong tan line and just a landing strip at the time. My colleagues had no idea of my underwear or swimwear choices until then. I had to shower as we were going back to work after a lunch time game, so there were some shocked faces then a pretence of not noticing as I pulled on my thong. I knew that the gossip would be round the whole office pretty quickly!

i started shaving, just the bush around my balls and shaft as something new to try with the wife. We bith ended up liking the look and feel. I then moved onto my legs and butt as something else to try. My wife was surprised, but didnt feel inw way or the other about it. I wound up liking thw feel of smooth legs and ass. My legs werent overly hairy, neither was my butt, bit i wound up taking to it. I now sha e every three or four days.  The only issue i have is the day or two after when its hot or warm out and i start to sweat. Razor burn starys to set in, but only my legs bother me. Ive tried numbing creams and gels like Bikini Zone, but those products get expensive and dont always help.   Anybody else have this problem? How do you deal with it?

I was in college and my roommate mentioned that he buzzed off all his pubic hair and that it made the sex feel so much better. So one night I was home alone and I buzzed it all off. I was amazed at first because I could SEE so much more. I took a razor and shaved it all off and tried it out and my roommate was right - it did feel SO MUCH better! I never went back after that. Though I let some hair grow back and kept it cropped short, soon I was finding out that more and more of my college friends - both guys and girls - were shaving and it kind of became a trend, going totally bare. This was the mid-90's when girls (at least in porn) were transitioning from a trimmed, full bush to smaller and smaller landing strips. Nowadays it seems that no one has public hair anymore - and I'm just fine with that!

I think as a whole we are collectively (men and women) moving towards eliminating unnecessary body hair. I saw another post in another thread on this forum that said something along the lines of "we don't live in caves anymore" and much of our body hair now is just unnecessary and serves no purpose whatsoever. It even makes me wonder, if we're still around for another thousand years or more and we're still living in insulated homes with central heating then, will humanity eventually evolve to the point where we just naturally grow less hair in the groin, under the armpits, on the legs and so on?

spot on SixDelta,  except for some people who stick to their religious or political believes (some ultra feminists women boast of how long their pubes and underarm hair can be) I think that hairless could gradually become mainstream.

I could say that more than 85% of people I saw at the nudist beach this year, were hairless or at least had their pubes trimmed.  More than previous years.

I have pretty much kept my pubes trimmed for as long as I can remember, back to when I was a teenager and started going commando most of the time. That stuck with me through my 20+ years of marriage. My wife has always kept her bits waxed bare, including around back. Since she's a big fan (thank god!) of oral attention on my back end, she suggested I start shaving it to make it more fun for her. I was happy to oblige. I had always wanted to try getting everything south of the belt waxed, but there were few places that did that sort of thing near me up until within the past three years. Finally one place started offering male Brazilians and I gave it a shot; I haven't gone back to shaving since. Like John Howard posted, once you've had it waxed, I just don't see how you can go back to shaving things.

I read about body shaving in a magazine years ago and got totally hooked on the idea. I was afraid to do it back then because of social pressures. I removed all of my body a few times, really enjoyed the process and then feared that someone would learn my secret. Years ago it was hard to be a guy with shaved legs. Almost ten years ago everything came together. I am a Koala guy, and my g-strings had gotten so small that I really had to have a "bikini wax." After that was done it looked silly to smooth "down below" and hairy everywhere else. So a took a deep breath and shaved it all. It looked so much better and after a couple of days at the beach I got used to the idea of people knowing that I am shaved completely.

Used to always shave the bikini line and then upper legs, chest and upper arms. It grew back so fast. I then saw the Koala swimwear site and the videos of guys being waxed and that was it. Never looked back. I like to wear minimalist swimwear whenever possible and the waxed look is best for me.

When I transitioned from racing bikinis (I was a swimmer in HS and college) to even smaller bikinis and then thongs and g-strings, shaving simply became a necessity. Of course, my then girlfriend's enthusiastic reaction was a real plus!I shave daily and have tried waxing. The problem for me is that, in order to be waxed, you need to allow the hair to grow out a bit. I hate that and have gone back to shaving every time.

To answer the original question  for this thread.....

A white sheer G-string got me shaving because I didn't like the hair showing thru the fabric, and coincidentally that was also my very first thong/G-string but back in the 80's most G-string were meant for novaliy wear because this one had a whistle attached to it that I cut off to wear on the beach

I started to wear very narrow front pouch suits and didn't want any pubic hair to protrude from the suit.  I didn't like the idea of shaving so I looked into waxing and chose that asa the best alternative for me.  This was five years ago and I go to my aesthetician every four to five weeks.  While the waxing is a little uncomfortable I look forward to the smooth skin that results from the procedure.  I don't think I will go back to my prior hairy state.

For me, it was frustration with my emerging sexuality during the early years of puberty. I did not want to mature and my pubic hair was a symbol of that maturity. But as time went by, I came to accept my body and sexuality and the look kind of grew on me. I sweat a lot down there especially in the summer so I shave my pubic hair for moisture wicking purposes. Since I started wearing thongs, I have an additional to be bare down there.

I have been a bodybuilding fan since teenage (now in my late 40s) and I've been reading fitness magazines and since the internet age seeing images of perfect hairless bodies online. I have dabbled in weight training myself and I have a decent body for my age but I can't really class myself as a bodybuilder. However, I decided that I wanted to get rid of my own body hair to better show the musculature I do have. About 10 years ago I started off by getting my back waxed and I gradually built up at each salon visit having more of my body waxed each time. Now I have my whole body waxed every time I go - about once every two months. As for the intimate area, I have that done less often due to the cost and the treatment not being available locally to where I live. I love being smooth down there but my budget and practical circumstances don't allow frequent treatments.

Like Brian9371 I am also in to fitness and weight training, started shaving my chest about 10 years ago and over time have ended up shaving everywhere....In my opinion i think it helps show definition and it just looks better particularly if your wearing thong swimwear, the only hair I have is on my head! The only place I can suffer with shaving rash is around the groin area and I have found if you use bepanthem (a nappy rash cream) just apply directly after shaving and then for a couple of days after it eliminates this problem.

I used to shave my whole body for years;  I'm also into bodybuilding and you are right, being hairless  definitely makes a difference in muscle definition.
I migrated to full body waxing 7 years ago;  I got tired of the time consuming shaving;  it used to take me well over 40 minutes, maybe 2 times a week.  That besides the pimples, bleeding, etc.     I still remember my first waxing,  I was quite scared of the pain.  Yes it was painful then, but the pain has almost gone away with time.
As a consequence of 7 years of full body waxing, my body hair has now very little growth.  And I mean, I used to be really really hairy,  my chest especially used to look so hairy, maybe a 7 or 8 in the scale from 0 to 10.  Now, apart from the groin area and a bit in the chest, all the rest of my body is almost hairless.  That doesn't mean I would stop waxing;   there are always thin and fluffy hair that unless gone, it affects the definition.
Full body waxing is one of the best decisions I've taken so far.  I couldn't put up again with that itchy feeling on my skin after 2 or 3 days after shaving;  when the hair starts to grow again and becomes itchy and feels a bit like sand paper.   The manzilian effect is also superb.   Sexual partners really appreciate it.  It feels clean and smooth down there, and all your assets look more 'defined'.

M_M yes it looks painful, I was scared as hell on my first session, but once its done you realise that it wasn't that bad.The pain takes less than a second.  It's more the anticipation to the pain what causes the anxiety.  The fact that the beautician is a lady made me unconsciously control my expressions of pain.I can't show to be a chicken in front of her.
The reality is that this lady is very professional and we chat non stop the whole 1.5 hour session.  She tells me stories of some young ladies who do the brazilian, and scream so loudly that it becomes ridiculous.  Some girls also prefer to be waxed there wearing paper g-strings, you kmow? for modesty reasons..   (what a load of crap).
Mate you can take the pain, is not that bad.   I see so much hype about the pain on guys being waxed, and it has become urban legend.
I had a funny experience with my first brazilians.   I was like you scared about the pain on that area, that I decided from my second session onwards to carry with me a bit of scotch in the car and drink it before jumping out of the car to see the beautician.   I believed it work the first time.
The second time I forgot the bloody scotch. I was already there and had to face the music.   She laughed so much when I told her what happened.  I started to sweat so profusely when I stripped naked and layed down on the table, that she had to put extra talcum powder on my body  to reduce the humidity.  But it wasn't that bad at all!!    I think that the anticipation and all the stories about the 'unbearable' pain were the trigger of the anxiety.
The best way to reduce and defeat the fear is to just do it.

It's different for everyone I guess but  for everyone, the pain lessens with each treatment. As I said above, I get waxed all over including intimate areas and the pain is pretty much zero now for most of my body and where it does hurt, it's very fleeting. I say go for it, the results are well worth it.

First of all, I always appreciated people with fit bodies that were unobscured; as I got older, I somewhat envied guys with naturally smooth chests. Besides grooming through trimming, I didn't really know what to do until I saw pictures of bodybuilders who had apparently been waxing and shaving since the 1930s. In fact, a few very fit movie stars in the '20s-'40s did just that to show off their physiques; I think I remember that the silent film star Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., did, as well as Johnny Weismuller (Olympic gold medal swimmer and the original big-screen Tarzan. By the time I learned about Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia competitors, I knew being completely shaved was what I needed. I kept it trimmed in my teens and shaved occasionally in my mid-teens. Then during Christmas break a couple months after turning 17, I decided that was the best time to start shaving regularly.  Finally able to feel comfortable in the men's bikini swimsuits that had become available, I have been shaving regularly ever since then with very few breaks.  I had a few college roommates who would sometimes stare but say nothing; the others either accepted or appreciated it--and I got a few others to shave as well.  When I learned that all competitive swimmers then not only wore minimal swimsuits but also shaved their bodies (to minimize resistance in water), I was already doing so! It not only always feels and looks better; but, what so many miss out on, is it uncovers the densest area of erogenous nerves not on the genitals; so, in several ways, sex is much better.  The only thing that would make me stop would be permanent hair removal between my neck and legs through electrolysis and/or laser treatments, both of which I can't afford. Laser treatments slow down hair growth to a minimum, but it's not really permanent; electrolysis destroys the hair follicles.

By the way, I used to use my Atra II razor--with steel handle that last long after most new ones had plastic handles--to shave my face and body. That worked quite well, but I knew something had to be better. A few years ago, though, I accidentally left my Atra razor at the gym when I went to work. It was never turned in; and, by the time I could get back, it was gone. I used an old, unused disposable razor; meanwhile, Kroger offered several e-coupons for the Gillette Body razor. I went to Gillette's Website and learned that a lot of research had gone into its design. So, I bought a disposable one (refillable ones weren't yet available in the store), tried it out, and immediately knew it was perfect! Every time Kroger offered an e-coupon for Body or any Gillette men's disposable razor, I got a pair and, when an e-coupon finally allowed, bought a refillable one. Everything about the design is perfect for body-shaving; they're not made for face-shaving, but I don't mind at all. The blades usually last a long time, which is good and makes the Gillette Body razor a good investment, especially since the refills are relatively expensive.  The slightly longer handle, ease in pivoting, rounded head shape, and everything else about it make it ideal for shaving anywhere and everywhere. The Kroger store I usually shop at could hardly keep them in stock for the first couple years. Kroger apparently considers them now to be a "slow-seller" because some stores no longer have them or the refills; but, that's because the blades usually last so long.  Gillette Body Shave Gel is probably best for using with the Body razor (especially for hairier-than-average men), but Edge shave gel works just fine, at least for me. Gillette's Body razor is designed for men's thicker, coarser, and much more prevalent hair; Gillette's equivalent razor for women is the Venus. If you've been reluctant to shave, then trim (with scissors and/or electric beard/sideburn trimmer), exfoliate, and use the Body or Venus razor--you'll be glad you did! Just be sure to apply an aloe vera gel to your moist skin afterward to reduce itching while your skin gets used to being shaved.

Not long after the wife said you may as shave everything so one day while she was at work I did. Let me say she enjoyed the reveal and soon we were matching smoothies!  For me, it was seeing men in adult movies and magazines who shaved. I was instantly intrigued, and once I gave it a try, I loved the fact that shaving made me feel cleaner and increased me sensitivity. My first trip to a nude beach showed me that I was not alone in my love of being smooth, and even though I live in a small, rural town, quite a few of the guys at my gym have begun to trim or shave entirely. I often just trim in the winter months, but I love being smooth in the summer.

I was always trimmed close , and found total shaving a bit tricky at first, but you soon get used to it. Its easier if you're at least semi hard whilst shaving. Pay-off is the smooth loook and increased sensitivity especially my balls..when having sex. Phew ! Love it ...could never go back to hairy now ugh ! Totally smooth from waist down these days and being a "smoothie" means thongs and g-strings can be as micro as you like.

Modeling for a professional photographer.  The application asked if I shaved my pu$$y completely.  (Only completely shaved models were accepted.)  Being a nudist, I had kept myself free of body hair from puberty on.  I've met only a few who didn't appreciate the smooth feel over the lips and pubic.  As has been pointed out by others here, the sensitivity while having sex is at a maximum.
When modeling, I see the males shave too.  Being without body hair, their genitals seem to get excited easily.  A slight breeze from a fan or even having a female hug during a pose and boing, they're rock hard.
A high percentage of the females at nudist beaches and resorts I've visited have been shaved or waxed.  A few have landing strips, but many are hair free.
I intend to stay this way.

I started shaving after some girl at the beach made a comment about how hairy my ass was.  She did not seem to care about my thong but about my hair.  This really stuck with me and from that day I started shaving.  I know it should not matter what others think but I do think I look better without a hairy butt and legs when thonging.

My initial reason for getting rid of body hair was directly related to oral sex.   My wife and I greatly enjoy it, but neither of us cared for hair in our mouths.  As a result, we both started trimming hair in our pubic and genital areas.  I'm not sure, but I believe my wife was the first to fully shave herself down there. Shortly after our first nude beach experiences, we both tended to keep ourselves fully hair free diwn there during the summer months and for vacations that could include nude beaches.   The rest if the year we at least kept it trim.  After a few years, I started shaving every where except the top of my head for beach visits.     I was in my 50s before I smartened up and got electrolysis performed on my genitals, my butt, and trimmed the pubic area to a narrower strip.  Completely hair free in those areas now.   I routinely trim the length of my body hair, my wife shaves my back, and and least annually usually shave everything around the start of beach season.  I find my whole body is a lot more sensitive without hair, whether it be for sexual adventures or simply the touch of clothing, bedding, the wind, etc.
