On Lake Washington, warm from about July 1 to September 15, go to littleDenny Blaine Park on the Seattle side between the I-90 bridge and the 520 bridge. Nice neighborhood and nice people. Few children. Quite a few lesbians. Everybody well-behaved and quiet. Parking usually adequate in the small lot or nearby on the street. Also try tiny Howell Beach about a furlong to the north. You can swim there from Denny Blaine too if you wish.Alki Beach in West Seattle is also thong friendly, but the water of Puget Sound is always cold. Parking, especially on weekends, is difficult.

I have lived in WA all my life (N Seattle), and started wearing a thong in the last few years...I get a lot of dirty looks if I try to get a tan.....on beaches, so I would like to know where I can go that would be Thong Friendly and also - in response to your previous question...it's 80 today, that's hot enough (in April) to get some sun!!!

Please post your Northern Washington beaches that are Thong friendly!

I have used Denny Blaine beach on Lake Washington for the past two years.  I have worn thongs there and have not encountered any problems.  It is usually quiet with few children.  I try to be discreet and not "parade" around.  This seems to work.

I also go to Madison Park but have not worn a tgong there.  Last year I wore a "Dore" bikini with a narrow front and 4" back.  I am smooth all over and it was quite obvious, but I didn't notice any problems.  However there tend to be a lot of children there so in deference to them I now have reverted to a Prevail string bikini.

On each occasion I have been the only thong or the one with the briefest costume.  Any tips on other beaches in Seattle where thongs or tiny bikinis are OK?

Try tiny Howell Beach just a furlong north of Denny Blaine.  Walk up the hill to the south.  Near the top is Howell.  Follow the street down to a path and the path to Lake Washington.  You are there.  Most people are nude, topless, or wearing thongs or g-strings.

Has anyone been to Howell or Denny Blaine this year? I want to know if its still thong/nude friendly. I'd prefer not to set up shop and have 10 families show up and things get uncomfortable...

Hi all.

Now that it's not winter in Seattle -- where to go? Anyone? Here are places I've heard would be thong-friendly -- hoping someone on this board has more experience than me...

--Madison Park (beach)
--Richmond Beach Park/Point Wells (north of the beach park -- have been to main beach park but not sure where to go from there)
--Volunteer Park
--Washington Park Arboretum
--Denny-Blaine/Howell Parks

Comments, reports anyone? Thanks in advance.

I went to Discovery Park today in the Magnolia area. The North Beach trail is steep enough that no little kids will go down there. At the end of the trail is a nice little beach that doesn't see a lot of traffic. So it was the perfect place to thong. If the weather holds, I'm going to hit that beach again tomorrow or Sunday. Maybe see you there.

Yesterday, I hit the north end of Shilshole Beach in my Skinz tie-side banded thong in blue lightning. That end of the beach is less crowded but not empty. I didn't hear any negative comments, only one positive one. A group in their late teens came walking past and one girl said to one of the  guys "Guys should wear g-strings too." To which he replied "Actually, I have one". Then their voices faded because of the distance. Later on a couple with a 2 year old came and set up next to me for about an hour. They just smiled said hello and went about their business. Not a single person really even gave me a double take not even the Police that came past. However, when I walked the beach as I left (in my walking shorts) I didn't see a single thong on a male or female. Still it was a great day at the beach with lots of fit young bodies (females for me) to look at. I'm a little burnt today so going to skip a day and head back out there Monday or Tuesday. I hope more folks are going to joing me.

Howell Park, which is just south of Denny Blaine Park (despite the original directions), seems to attract more nudists than thongs.  I think it is the park mentioned in the Seattle PI article, "Nudists share the naked truth"
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/276327_nude04.html

I haven't seen any thongs at Denny Blaine Park.  97F today ... hot!

Since I'm rather new to Seattle, I didn't realize that Shilshole is actually known as Golden Gardens. It was great day at the beach yesterday

Howell beach, which is a short walk south of Denny Blaine beach, and down a steep slope, is often nude, but there are some thongs too.  It is at Lake Washington Blvd and Howell Place.  It is the beach mentioned in the Seattle PI article, Nudists share the naked truth.  There is some parking on Lake Washington Blvd, some at Denny Blaine park, and more on the side streets north of Denny Blaine park.

See Seattle Beaches or Seattle Free Beaches for more info, or the previous messageboard thread on Seattle

I went to Denny Blaine Park today. There were a couple groups (5 or 6 each) of 20-something girls sitting around and a few single guys. I was going to thong it, but chickened out and came home and thonged on the deck at my house instead.

Has anyone ever tried Magnusen Park? Its where they hold the occasional nude swims. Is it thong-friendly or is it too family oriented?

The best places for thonging in Seattle are Howell Park, gay bay at the Arboretum and Volunteer Park. I have been thonging at these places for years. Lower Woodland Park is thong-friendly as well.

Looking at a satellite view of Volunteer Park, there are two large grassy areas Northwest of the Asian Art Museum. Are these where you can catch some rays?

I'm not sure where gay bay is. I'm not gay, so I don't want someone hitting on me thinking I am. I'd rather avoid that if possible.

I am from Vancouver, BC. Do any thongers know "Magnuson Park" or "Howell Park" which one is more crowded and thong-friendly. Also would you guys mind showing how to go Volunteer Park, please?

I went to Howell Park today and had no hassle thonging. I sunbathed for about half an hour. About half the people were nude or topless so no one batted an eyelash at a man in a thong.
Now if I can just get an honest-to-goodness thong bathing suit, we'll be in business.

Is anyone aware of any beaches or forests in the area encompassed  by Tacoma, Mount Rainier and Seattle where thongs are permitted?  Preferably forests or beaches with lots of shade along the beach.  I can't tolerate too much sun for health reasons.

Has anyone been to Howell park this year? I ask because last year they cleared a lot of the trees around the park and were doing some construction next door and I wondered if its still going to be a good spot for thonging/nude. I was hoping to go Saturday as its supposed to be very nice out.

There is a park at the far North end of the Arboretum, where Lk. Washingon Blvd forks and you can either go right and get on to the 520 or head left where the road takes you towards UW. There is a parking lot on your right there and you'll see the older infrastructure of an old on ramp to the 520. There are usually college kids jumping off this into the lake. You can park in that parking lot or if its full find parking in the surrounding neighborhood. You take the main path that winds under the old on ramp and heads right. Follow that path through the open field to the end of the park. On a sunny day you'll see lots of people [99% guys] laying out. It's unofficially clothing optional, but I've never seen patrols busting people for being nude. The only drawback to the park I find is that it is very cruisey, and there are some gawkers. I think it goes with the territory. If you're going to wear minimal swimwear people are going to gawk - I've grown to simply ignore it - unless the dude is hot and wearing a thong or skimpy bikini too! :-)  I alwasy wear thongs there and usually there are one or 2 other guys in thongs and lots of speedo and bikini type suits. Hope this helps.

Ok, I know exactly the parking lot. Thanks. I may see you there, but honestly I am not a big fan of that kind of scene. I am not phobic or anything but prefer not to be cruised. Ill stick with Howell.

Have fun though!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the heads up on the Arboritum. I went there yesterday (Wednesday) and laid out for a couple hours. Very gay, very cruisey, but if you get past that it's all good. Started laying out about 2:30, some cloud cover and a couple guys in bikinis. About 3:30 clouds broke and about 4:30 other guys started showing up. I was probably the most risque with a thong, but later in the afternoon several guys came out and were naked.

As for the "scene", yes it's there. I don't care about gawkers, let them look and none of them said or did anything lewd towards me. Everyone pretty much left me alone. I felt sorry for one guy, he kept "flirting" with me, but I didn't want anything to do with it.

All in all, if you're OK with the scene, it's not a bad place and they are very tollerable to thongs and nudity.

Good luck!

I go there usually a couple afternoons a week and always wear my Muscleskins thongs. Was joined by a fellow thong buddy last week and we laid out in out skimpy thongs, then were joined by some other speedo buddies.  Best place in Seattle area I know of to thong - if anyone knows somewhere better, let me know!

Denny-Blaine Beach/Park was a great place for wearing thongs back in the 1980's and 1990's.  Frequented by lesbian groups that were not concerned about what anyone wore.  Topless sunbathing was not uncommon.  A few years ago the Parks Dept. modified the beach area in in order to make it easier to go into and out of the water (Lake Washington).   Now there are often families with young children as well as Univ. of Wash. students.  The lesbians have disappeared.  The people now dress more conservatively and it has been several years since I last saw a guy or gal wearing a thong.  Things have changed.  It used to be a great beach for thongs.

I went thonging at the Arboretum yesterday. First day of sun here in Seattle. There were 3 other guys in thongs, so 4 of us altogether. Felt great to be out in my tiny black Muscleskins thong. An older guy set up right next to me in a white thong and looked awesome.

Weather is finally warming up. I was thinking it would be cool for Seattle area thongers to designate a certain ares either on the lake or on the sound as an official thonging beach this season? I usually go to the Arboretum to wear my Muscleskins thongs but that park is pretty gay/cruisy and I know my straight thong brothers and thonging females might find that uncomfortable. Anyone have any ideas? Also if anyone is interested in meeting up for thonging I might be up for it. Hit me up. Been working out hard all winter and I'm ready to strip down to a tiny strap!

Re:Where to wear a thong in the Seattle area WA

Hey thong_jock, good to have winter behind us and the weather warming up in Seattle.  Parks and areas around the Seattle area are indeed not very thong-friendly.  I have tried to find locations other than the Arboretum (too much cruising).  Last Fall I did thong at Sandpoint, but it was a slow Fall week day with no families around.  Quite a few people, no one cared.  I am always comfortable (have been for years) wearing "speedos" at Magnuson Park/Sand Point so thongs should be a natural transition.  Just need to get skimpy suit wearers, combination of males and females, to go there.

There are parts of Carkeek Park that would seem OK and out of the way, both on Beach and in the park itself.

Seattleites simply need to have a Thong-In and get a number  of us together at a certain place and time and just wear them.  The force of having several thongers in one place is enough to warrant approval and allow us a common place to hang out.

Re:Where to wear a thong in the Seattle area WA

I would be up for taking part and would frequent a beach where I knew I'd be in the company of other guys in thongs. The Arboretum is a great spot and I've seen many other guys in thongs there but I'm kind of tired of the fully clothed dudes rubbing their bulges looking at me. If some of them wore thongs, they would get my attention for sure! :-)

There was a guy at Madison park in a super skimpy magenta thong yesterday. I was in a speedo solar.

Just getting back on the forum as I recently moved out here the the PNW. Saw this post and though I see if anyone was still following it that could update as to which if any of the places listed are still Speedo/thong friendly. The idea of wearing even less sounds good too, would love to have no concerns about Thong tan lines in my speedo or vice versa.

Thanks for the update Thong_jock, I appreciate it.

I’ve heard for DB a HP, and found them on the map. Now just need to figure out where to park.  I will have to look up Poit Wells too. Will for sure go for the thong, and if the cigs are good will for the birthday suit...

That was ruff trying to get that post up. If I’m seeing things correctly Howell is a little ways south of DB. It wouldn’t let me post a photo larg enough to show both spots. But DB is easy to make out for the descriptions others have given. Howell is a little trickier... All I know is it appears there are several thong friendly places here in the PNW, I’m looking forward to my first time thonging in public. And as previously stated, if the vibe is good. I’ll have to go for the full Monty 😁 May have to get me a suit nicer than my Speedo Solar. For when I keep it on ;-)
