Just stumbled across this video from a year ago.  It is titled "Men's swimwear you would refrain from wearing in the USA" and covers most of the "forbidden" styles such as Speedos, Tangas, Square Cuts, Posing Suits, etc.  What is interesting is that every style is called "brief" or "trunks".  So a Posing suit is called "Posing trunks" and Tangas are called "Tanga Briefs".  Some of the Briefs cover more than some of the trunks!

But we already know what many think are acceptable and unacceptable swimwear styles.

Should have been labeled "the suit everyone should be wearing"

Those are the types of suits I regularly wear. I also like to wear g-strings which were not part of the group.

I always found it interesting that swimwear fashions are so restrictive for men in the good old USA. In other parts of the world, the swimwear shown would often be totally acceptable in public (except maybe for the wet-underwear or other underwear based swimwear). The fact that in places, like France, the various laws and rules dictate swimwear more like this than board short -- the US standard for beach wear should wake up some people that smaller swimwear is generally acceptable elsewhere and should be here too.
