mack_back: that video really just shows how much people's idea of what's acceptable or not is determined by conditioning. To normalize something in their mind, they need to see it regularly by a significant portion of the population, even if a minority. In this case (Australia in the 1970's), this idea of a men's string bikini appears to have been just slightly outside the norm, so it was acceptable to about 1/2 of the people they interviewed. If that same experiment were conducted, say, tomorrow in Daytona Beach, the outcome would not be as good.

interesting video mack, that's Elwood beach!! here in Melbourne. 1977!! I can't believe this fashion started so early; I didn't live in Australia at that time, and the very first time I saw a guy wearing a 'tanga' was in 1981. At that time I wore 5 cm conventional speedos, which were quite bold for that time. The first time I saw a guy wearing a tanga like the guy on this video, I was shocked. I thought, you have to have balls to wear something like that, and a trim body to pull it off. It intrigued me so much that I didnt stop until I bought my own, 2 years later in 1983. Mine were "Hom" and "Rodeo", made in UK, Holland and Italy. I was the sensation on the beach wearing these bathers, the women loved me, and their boyfriends and husbands hated me.. I picked up more than a few girls thanks to my tangas. Love the 80s.

JH great to here you gotten great reactions wearing your skimpy suit. Do know when I first bought my skins skinny side rio. Wore it at the textile beach had couple tossing fresbie nearby. The female kept looking upon me as I was belly down having big smile on her face. Few days later as I was on a street light walking through the intersection seen the same woman on the beach. She recognized me passing by again having a bigger grin on her face, I suppose my swimwear made impression that she never forgot. Noticing the reaction I gotten wearing my skinny side rio on textile beach I decided to exclusively visit c/o beach. After few visits found wearing a suit that small was pointless and decided to go nude from then on. Only afterwards I had a vacation in Clearwater beach. Wanted to wear a thong but knew the rules so I decided for my trusted skinz skinny side rio as beach wear. Immediately had one adult mid 50’s woman point me out to her friend about my disgusting choice of swimwear them moving further away from me. Later on in the water waves running high to my chest while holding on my iPod. Heard many groups of couples talking about betting on when my swimsuit will fall off from the waves splashing on top of me. Little did they know my suit stayed in place fitted very well. Yet felt annoyed with younger people judging me discussing my swimwear in a negative light. Felt very unwelcome wearing my tiny suit on the beach by many comments I overheard.

The boxes behind the guy shows Hom bikinis.   I got my first when Club Med had them in their shop in the early 70's.  My late wife loved the way the guys who worked there wore them with their tufts of pubic hair sticking out over the top.  She convinced me to get one and that's what started me wearing smaller suits and eventually g-strings to the beach.

Good spotting on the HOM boxes. Back then, late 70's or very early 80's I had some HOM and YSL bikinis. They were very low cut and skimpy. I had two HOM, one in red and the other light blue, that had true string sides. I may have them somewhere, but elastic is now mostly shot.
