Maybe it´s a bizzare question, but I#d like to know your opinion. In 3 weeks, we´re flying away (Tunis or Egypt), and as ussual, I promise myself, to work on my thong tanline, but I also want to do something, what I used to do in my garden, and that is - instead of sunblockers, to use babyoil, plus, wax my body (except chest, where I don´t have much hair) and wear thongs. Maybe there´s something wrong with me, but somehow, I like to feel it that way: shiny and slippery, and almost fully tanned. How would you react on a guy looking like that?BTW - I would only lie down by the pool, not walking around;)

Sunson,
First off, is there any other way to be??? Waxed, Oiled and Thonged!!! Sounds perfect to me!!

I was in Egypt 4 years ago and yes I did wear thongs, I was completely shaved and did tan in oil a few times, BUT only on a private balcony!

You have to respect the countries religious ways, Egypt is no place for a man in a thong by the pool or on the beach for that matter.  You will get more than a few funny looks if you try it!!! I did!!!! I can't speak for every hotel or beach but the ones I tried weren't to accepting!!!

Also, be VERY carefull with the baby oil!!! You WILL burn!!! The sun is strong out there. Use an oil with a high factor, at least SPF30, it will give the same effect as baby oil, but with protection!!
Good luck finding a nice quiet spot and enjoy, you'll get some wicked tan lines!

If you go suntanning in Tunis or Egypt on July oiled with baby oil you'll burn the first day on just few hours!!You can get a nice tanlines using a good SPF 30 or more lotion. Using a good sunscreen lotion your skin becames bronze, using baby oil your skin burns, became red and then you can pull off. Also if you want to wax your body, do it a few days before suntanning. No the day before.

No oil, too much sun.  Wear sunscreen or you will spend the rest of your stay in the shade of the hotel room, or in hospital with burns.

I agree with the previous posters about being careful about getting burned.  While I've not been to Egypt, I have been to a couple other locations near the equator and the sun is indeed intense. As to the cultural acceptability of wearing thongs, I will defer to their experience.

Regarding your original question, no, there is nothing "wrong" with you. For me, sunbathing is a very sensual experience. I've also always thought tanned skin glistening in the sun with oil looks very sexy, whether it be on me, a guy, or a gal. Well, more especially on a gal, but that's just because I like looking at gals. :-) But I do have a appreciation for a fit, minimally covered body, be it man or woman, shiny with oil.

In my teens when I started seriously sunbathing I found that I liked the feeling of applying suntan lotion. However, it would get absorbed into the skin in short order. Then they started coming out with sunscreen lotion that contained oil and eventually all oil. (I can remember a commercial on TV showing a young woman in a bikini and the announcer saying "all buttered up" and went on to further script. It was one of my first introductions of marketing bias toward women and subsequently the culture finding it "permissible" for women to do certain things.) Anyway, when sunbathing in my parents yard I found that I really like the slippery feel of sunscreen oil, but was careful not to "overdo" it. When I got out on my own and along the way kept going to smaller and smaller swimsuits, and became more comfortable with my sensuality/sexuality, I started applying liberal amounts of sunscreen oil, slapped on rather quickly because I was still somewhat self-conscious about using oil (because I generally saw only women using it) and my shrinking suits. I eventually made the acquaintance of a (platonic) female friend who like to sunbathe and said she wouldn't be embarrassed by my suits, so we sunbathed at her apartment complex pool and my apartment complex pool several times one long, hot summer. She noticed that I seemed to like applying the sunscreen oil, so she told me that I should just take my time and enjoy it. Oh my, she was right. I eventually worked in to a routine that I would spread on some oil, wait about 15 minutes for it to be absorbed, spread on another layer, wait about 15-30 minutes and spread on another layer. By that time my skin was saturated and was practically dripping with oil and felt wonderfully slippery all over. She also suggested that I occasionally "check to make sure the oil was evenly spread and not being sweated off" (which it never was) by running my hands all over my body from neck to toes. Actually, in retrospect, I think she probably liked watching me do this. Whatever the reason, I didn't mind her (or any other woman) watching and really enjoyed exploring this part of my sunbathing sensuality. When I can I sunbathe like this whenever I can.

With regard to removing body hair, that only makes the feeling of the oil and sun more sensual. I've permanently removed all the hair around my bikini area by electrolysis so I can wear as small a suit as possible and it also contributes to the smoooth look. I've got very thin leg hair, so I don't worry about that area, but have removed practically all of my underarm hair except a few wispy hairs. As I've gotten older my chest hair had gotten thicker and more wiry, so I'm slowly and permanently removing that also.

I went from using baby oil to olive oil when I found that baby oil is a petroleum distillate and tends to drive moisture out of the skin but olive oil is organic and is much better and natural for the skin. It's thicker, but once I got used to it I found that I prefer it's slippery feel. Just make sure you have a good base tan before you use only oil.

Thanks for the advices. Ive been to Egypt twice (now its 3rd time in a row) so I know how intense sun there is. Of course I am prepearing my skin for over a month and go every week to tanning saloon (for 20 minutes). And yes, UV Blocker is a must-have, but I wanted to put some oil on it.
@hotbunz1969 - I can´t agree with you - Muslim countries are of course much different than US and Europe, but I think, on the private beach or by the pool, there is no dress code. 3 years ago I was sunbathing with my wife, on the balcony (in thongs of course) but it isn´t so much fun, if you paid to lay by the pool or on the beach, therefore, for the last 2 days we moved on the pool, at the side, where were not so many people. I only tanned my front, cause I wasnt brave enough, to lay on my belly. And in the exact same pool, there was a women, tanning in thongs - I guess, she had the same feeling as I had.
@maxexposure - I didnt understand the part with oil - if babyoil isn´t quite good for such a strong sun, what oil did you mean? Some special tan oil?
I was about to find a website of my hotel and ask, if thongs are aloud to wear, but I can´t find the site.3 years ago, the Hotels name was "Kiroseiz Three Corners" - but now, it´s called "Xperience Kiroseiz Parkland" - I would have had Infos from the first hand.

Thonged, shaved, and oiled...the best look for guys and gals too.

My skin is very fair naturally (though I keep up an airbrush tan with a thong tanline) so when I go out in the sun I literally slather on Banana Boat SPF 50.  Otherwise I would burn to a crisp.

Then when there's no sun, there's posing oil...Anyone have a good brand of posing oil, or does olive oil by itself work for anyone?

The ultimate thong feel good sensation for me is to be hair free, in one of my favorite thongs, and all glossy with an even application of body oil from neck to toes [see my profile photo].  The appearance of a sculpted body and smooth skin is beautifully hightened and amplified by the shine of the oil--all framed by the sensuality of the thong.  It all naturally comes together in my opinion, just perfect!  Go for the gusto and enjoy :)

I have not used olive oil before....but what a great suggestion, I will give it a try for sure.   One tip for safe sunning:  As many suntan lotions do not mix well with oil, resulting in a messy residue-----I apply a high SPF on your body well in advance of going into the sun.   The two benefits are that the sunscreen will be able to penetrate and assimilate into the skin, and excess surface product is minimized.   Then by the time you hit the sun...you can apply the oil without it breaking down from the suntan lotion.  I am very tan in the summer, and find my tan only becomes darker with suntan lotion as the SPF factor enables less intense rays which result in more tan, and prevents the harsh rays which lead to burn.

A word of warning on the Olive Oil !
Yes it will give you a lovely deep dark tan, since reading this thread, I tried it last summer, my lines have lasted until recently, you will however, burn VERY quickly, make sure up put on at least a SPF 30 underneath it. I speak from experience!!! What I do now is put on a high SPF cream about an hour before hitting the sun, then again about 15 minuets before, that way the cream has time to be absorbed and does not "curdle" with the oil you use later, this gives you a protective base so to speak, I them use Olive Oil for about  an  hour on both sides before reapplying a tanning oil, (I just love to glisten in the sun) I've found this way I don't burn. I have a moderate tolerance to the sun, in not fair skinned but then again I'm not olive skinned either,  the above way got me a nice deep tan this past summer without any discomfort of burning (except the day I went straight to Olive Oil !!!!)
Cheers Paul

There is just no other way as far as I see it when tanning in a thong. I prefer to be completely waxed and shaved. Haven't tried oiling myself in for tanning yet because my skin is rather fair so I have to take it slow and easy when laying out in the sun.

Steve9, hotbunz1969 and Hermes... I use olive oil too BUT I have a An SPF 30 under it... And I'm Black. Albeit a light skinned Black guy, I do burn.

So my routine is shower before the beach, use a loofah or skin scrubber to exfoliate; clean skin best for sunscreen to adhere.  After showering, exfoliating, towel dry. Skin has to be completely dry.  Then I apply a cream 30 sunscreen. The FDA has proven the sprays don't give you good coverage and contain cancer causing chemicals. So I've switched even though I loved the sprays, their convenience and ease of application.

Continuing, after liberally applying the sunscreen I let it dry/become transparent for 10-15 mins and I'm off to the beach. At the beach, late in the afternoon after the hardest of the suns rays are done... 3pm maybe I start using olive oil.

SixFive........ Great advice, like your preparation for the day, exfoliating before a tanning session sounds like a good idea, I'm going to add that to my prep.

You give sound advice on a high SPF first, not only do you protect yourself better, it's the best way to get a lasting tan.   I like you shower then apply a SPF30, I use this like a body cream putting an ample amount on and letting it soak in totally, this is  before even going out in the sun, then as soon as I set up I re-apply a high factor, depending on how strong the sun is this could be anything up to SPF50, it not until the heat and strength of the sun in lower later in the day that I apply the oil. I do tend to use a 50/50  olive/ baby oil mix..... It just smells a bit better!!

Quick trim with scissors improves the fit of my g-string - takes about one minute once a week. I'm in the sun most days, so suncream is a necessity. Shaved and oil? Wouldn't say it was weird, but does sound a bit narcissistic. Each to their own. I'd rather spend my time at the pool or beach than at home preparing for it.

I think we're all too sane to try this in the middle east given the recent developments there. However at home, thonged/shaved/oiled is the best way to be unless you can be nude/shaved/oiled! :)I'm always careful though, and my oil has an SPF of 15. Pete

Shavedandsmooth
You are SOOOOOO right, NOTHING beats that experience.
Last summer my GF expressed a wish for me to get waxed like her. She insisted  weekly trimming and every other day shaving was a pain in the a** and I had to agree! Less prickles for both of us was going to be a bonus as well.

In looking around for places and prices I found there wasn't a great deal of difference between a BSC and a full body wax so  I surprised her (and myself) and went for the full body wax. (I did leave a very small landing strip at her request!) even had my underarms done, now that was painful!
It's been a few years since I've been totally smooth and I'd forgotten how good it feels. She was away on business when I got waxed and I'd not told her about it, to say she was surprised that weekend when we hit the park to tan was an understatement, she loved me in a thong and especially  tanning in one but she absolutely  adored my totally smooth thonged body,  she couldn't keep her hands off me that afternoon, :-)  to say lots of oil got rubbed in was an understatement, I was positively glistening!!!!

Some girls like there guys hairy, and I dare say if I was dating a lass like that I wouldn't be smooth,  I was lucky enough to have found one, that like me, likes me smooth.........
Smooth and oiled.........THE only way to tan!!!!

It sounds good but it also sounds like a heckuva lot of maintenance to me.  Even with the waxing, that stuff is going to grow back pretty fast -- I use an epilator and the results are wonderful -- but really only smooth for a couple of days.  I can't imagine how much time it would take to do the whole body all the time like that.

Coconut oil is what I use. It has a natural SPF (not much, apparently about 10) and it's great for your skin. I have been out in the Florida sun for hours with nothing but that (exception being normal sunblock on shoulders and face since those areas burn very fast for me).

Coconut oil also makes great lube so if you're doing some kind of oil rubdown with your partner, it won't irritate your female partner once it's inserted.
Sometimes I'll do a salt olive oil rubdown in the shower. Mix a couple tablespoons with sea salt and stir it into a paste, rub it all over your body, let it sit for a minute, then hit the shower and rinse it all off. Does wonders for your skin, especially in dry, winter climates like we have here in MN!

Often after a day on the beach using various homemade oils sesame, coconut, walnut, johoba, olive, and ettential oils like peppermint absorbed nicely into my skin. Later in the evening showering find shaving my entire body with a fusion razor as smooth like butter. Only problem clogs up the blade difficult to clean, shortens life of the cartridge. Yet the shave is close and delightfully smooth. Later use coconut paste to mousturize my entire body. Walking around with shorts while the coconut oil absorbs slowly into my skin. The shine of my toned tanned smooth legs look unbelievable who needs to wax when I see the results.
If you try this at home word of warning. Coconut oil can destroy nylon thong swimwear/ underwear. So I caution to not wear a thong but shorts a otherwise you will destroy some undies from the oils rubbing off. Yes I shave my entire body and oil does soften the pubic region and anatomy very well silky smooth. You don't want to ruin your thong while wearing it and the oil is trying to absorb into your skin, which takes a long time versus other oils.

Weird? Not at all. I had shave once my g-string got to be too small. Since I'm pretty hairy, I had to shave my entire body to make it look good. I was embarrassed and intimidated at first, especially because of my smooth legs. One guy at the beach even told me that I "had gone too far." But when I felt the pleasures of suntan oil on my smooth skin with no hair in the way to dull the sensations, there was no going back. The sun, totally smooth skin, a liberal application of oil and a thong make for a very erotic experience that I have enjoyed again and again.

If I'm outside tanning in a thong I am most certainly oiled. And I get grow some hair but I shave on a regular basis so my chest, shoulders, back, butt are always smooth. I buzz down my legs and arms so they look manscaped and leave a little patch of hair at the base of my wiener. And after a shower I usually rub coconut oil all over my body to keep my skin fresh and soft. So yes, you could say I'm pretty much always thonged, shaved and oiled!

To me this is a most natural way to present myself.  I do maintain an even tan all over as a nudist, and proudly display all of my body.  Being a model, I am not shy about exhibitionism.  I keep in shape with daily workouts and am not afraid to show any part of my body.  Why should I be?  When at a beach that requires a thong or more, I usually test the rules by wearing an extreme thong.  tee hee.
