My wife and I were at the main beach in the National Park on Saturday (May 23), with the wind blowing off the cold ocean it wasn't exactly the ideal conditions for laying out, we ended up just walking a few miles on the beach in our shirts/shorts instead. It will probably be a couple more weeks before we venture out. |

Most of the people far north were nude all day--never really saw any thongs nor any rangers and I was there most of the day...or at least until I couldn't take the cold wind.
It seems from this thread that the overzealous park ranger(s) have disappeared and thonging is now once again acceptable. I've not seen any patrols while wearing a thong, but should that happen, I 'll update the board. |

I saw no other thongers, only nudists. The nudists were in high awareness mode, quickly covering up when park vehicles drove by a few times, but I had absolutely no problem in my thong. So go for it.

When I asked about thongs on the beach the person I talked to said she had never had that question before. She said she would ask someone about it. When she came back she said thongs were OK. Then I asked if thongs were allowed around the campsites. She said it was checkin time and she would have to get back to me. Well I posted the Good news.
She called back and quoted from some source that said exposed genitals and buttockts were not allowed. Sorry I asked. I not done yet. I will be in Rehoboth next week and plan on driving down to Assategue and checking in person. Also, there was an article in one of Rehoboth's papers about skimpy swin wear (someone posted it under Rehoboth thread) that I am going to check out. I was told by the Rehoboth beach patrol (2008) thongs were OK on Rehoboth Beach beach but not the state park. The article says not. I will post an update. |

There was a perfect sea breeze, no flies and the perfect temperature. My wife wore her Wicked Weasel black satin sheer bikini and looked wonderful....which you can judge for yourself. I had such a nice time doing an end of the day photo shoot with her! All in all....a very relaxing time.

The sun felt nice and the water was perfect. The flies were biting, but it was worth the trip. Don't get there enough. There were about 5 or so other thongers or nudes. I did, however, notice the different signs this year. "nudity prohibited", they used read, "you may encounter nude sunbathers....". Of course, I took a nude picture in front of it! Didn't see one ranger all day. That will probably do it for me this year. I'll have to stay on this side of the bay to save money and about five hours of driving. Take care all

My wife wore her brand new bright red Wicked Weasel and she looked fantastic!...But most important....was how wonderful she felt she looked wearing it! With so little people on the beach, my wife felt comfortable hamming it up for a nice photo shoot....I will try to post something she finds suitable in my profile. A very very nice day at the beach!

Date Posted：06/09/2010 05:26:36Copy HTML Made it out to the island beach on Tuesday, Set up near the first Nudity Prohibited sign. Didn't take long for several people to set up far away from me. It was nice but, lots of seaweed in the surf...Saw quite a few people, most walked on further south to "nude" end. Wore a very skimpy g-string most of the day. When I finally took it off to take care of the tan lines, the bird people came driving by. Quickly put something on! No big deal they spent a long time at the north end. Most of the folks near me (couples and single men),were nude until someone approached. Met Chuck, the self titled, abominable sandman. He and I chatted for about 30mins. and he went on south for the showers. Except for the burn on my back (where I couldn't reach), It was a great experience. Love to meet people, I was hoping for a more friendly environment. But, I guess when folks are nude they don't want to bothered. It's too bad people don't hang in groups or bunch up. I mean, I know there is alot of beach out there, but it would be cool if there were certain section for other like minded people, to talk to. I like to people watch, I know, not the best place to do that. But everyone speads out so much you need binoculars. For all the nudists, You should take some anyway to keep an eye on the rangers. . I wish I could get my wife to join me........Not going to happen!

Review Natonal and State indecent exp laws. I was under the impression that anything goes except display of genetals. I could be wrong.....was also there 2 weeks ago and saw many G-strings, thongs and nudes. You do have to walk a bit north for that environment. But well worth it. I myself was nude for most of the day. You have keep a sharp eye for the pesky rangers. I would suggest a pair of binoculars and bug repellant....Have fun

I usaully go to the 4x4 section in the national park. I wanted to let people know they open the beach on the 4x4 section after km marker 23.
I had been closed for the last couple of weeks due to bird nesting. Now there is miles of open beach again. Was there today. I was great to have that open again. Have fun!!! |

Date Posted：08/08/2010 05:30:13Copy HTML I can confirm that the north end is totally re-opened....Had a wonderful time on Sat the 7th.....huge crowd....or so you might believe....the State day parking lot was totally fun...(wife and I were the last ones allowed in until others left)....but the north end had plenty of open space. Many nudist couples discreetly enjoying the day. My wife wore her red Wicked Weasel and once again looked stunning. Nice sea breeze all day that kicked up a pounding surf that made any kind of swimming very adventurous but otherwise totally refreshing....and no black biting flies....yes! Enjoyed the company of a very polite and interesting nudist couple as well.....A perfect day.

It rained on Thursday and we were leaving on Friday so we had to pack up. We set up about a mile up the beach north from the guarded beach. Both days we were surrounded by a YMCA camp group that was camping out there. We did have one of my oldest daughter's friends there one day so laying out with out thongs probably won't have been a good idea. The plan was to try it out on Thursday, but the weather screwed us up.
Didn't see any thongs on either day but did see a man walking from back from the nude beach in a skimpy bikini and one laying out at the guarded beach in a boxcut suit. My daughters either didn't see them or didn't really care. I guess we'll have to see how next year goes. We probably won't get out there again this year. |

No one every bothered us, Rangers were very friendly and always had programs for the kids.

I was out there on Tuesday and recieved 2 conflicting answers from locals. The perv in a full cut speedo told me as long as I was covered on the front I was fine. And then the guy who was laying naked behind a windscreen, and covering up anytime someone approached and alerting me that the Patrol was coming, said that thongs weren't ok. I'm more inclined to believe the discreet naked guy then the perv, and would like to see somewhere where it actually says thongs are ok, before recieving a ticket...

I will say that as I was walking around in a thong on the beach, what looked to be a couple ranger trucks drove by and didn't stop, or they might have been wildlife trucks... It was also the Tuesday after Memorial day on the far end of the beach and no one was really out there, so they may have just let it be since it didn't appear that I was engaging in any lewd activities... I'll also say the more "credible" information came from the nudist guy who's information, although said thongs were not ok, was probably more geared towards nudists. He did say they had undercover people on the beach, and had ticketed people and made arrests, although I think the arrests were more for people engaging in "lewd" behavior...
I couldn't find any information about thongs on Assateague online, I did find information on Sandy Point. And while it didn't say thongs were illegal or legal on Sandy Point, it did say you might be asked to cover up. So IMHO I'd go for it, and if a Ranger comes up to you, just reference that you thought they were OK based on the information about Sandy Point and just offer to cover up. |

I was passed by rangers twice but they did nothing, so I really don't think thongs are a problem. On the other hand, the beach thongers usually go to (about a mile north of the state park bathhouse) was almost empty of people -- but full of new signs advertising that nudity was illegal. This was on a weekday. Can anyone tell me how much the signs have deterred attendance? Nude, thong, or otherwise? If the signs have pretty much driven off the nudists, then I'm thinking I could just do my thing with a much shorter northward walk -- say, a few hundred yards beyond the state park boundary. (I am not interested in going nude.) If things are different on weekends, I'd like to know. Opinions, anyone?

Please cutback on starting new threads. Post replies to to existing threads on the subject.
If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly.
First paste it into notepad or other basic ascii editor so that the formatting codes are removed, then cut again. This will give you clean posts.
