Pity I did not connect with you before I have 2 never worn AussieBun suits that I got as a gift but in size 2X and I am  a Medium Mens. I might want to trade these two new never used navy blue, and purple Rower's trunks (100% Nylon ) in exchange for you ordering a new Dore push up bikini .  Like ot hear back from you.

Sorry, I'm an XL, and that could be a little bit big. Thanks for the offer though. How is the construction/quality of the4se suits? They seem to look pretty good, but htat's on the website. Are they lined or not?The site seemed to be unclear about if they were or were not. Thanks!!!

The suits are generally double lined in rear.  The classics have the option of single lining or double lining.  All of the suits are double lined in front.  If there's any doubt, just email the site and they'll answer.

I think the quality and durability is excellent.  I wore my single lined Ice Blue AussieBum to a Six Flags waterpark about a month ago.  Wearing a nylon bikini, I went down those slides MUCH faster than the guys wearing pants.  My buns had bruising like I've never seen before, but not a single tear or snag on my AussieBum.  It's a great value.  And with the unlined rear on the suit, I may as well have been wearing a thong with the exposure factor when wet.

With a 32 inch waist, I wear a sz 14. I also have a size 16. I'm sort of right there on the border of the size chart.  The material does not strech, so you hav eto get it right.  The people are very nice about exchanges.  Even though they come from Australia, you can count on about 3-4 business days for normal delivery (I'm on the west coast of US)

Correction, I think! As far as I've seen on their website, and others who retail the Aussiebum suits, the logo is optional on the back, and so is the front lining on some of the suits. Some have only a thin material at the rear, so it will be intentionally partially see-through in the lighter colours. Thery warn about this - the choice is yours. There seem to be plenty of options, except on price!

I just bought the Aussie Bum XS "Illusion" at a local shop. Great price for retail - about US$25.

Check out the picture here.

The white section is supposedly see-through when wet. I haven't tried it yet, because I don't want my girlfriend to know I bought it yet. I wish it had a little less coverage, but I'm excited about the prospect of showing a little more cleavage at the public swimming pool. I'm hoping my thong tan line will be visible through the white fabric.

Still wish I could get one of those ultra-low Japanese suits.

The suit does not have a logo except a red side tag, and it is not lined in the back, and the front is lined under the black section.

Hah. Found a very small picture of the effect using Google. I'm nowhere near that tan, nor am I that muscular, but I still don't think it looks bad on me.

If you want a low fitting swim brief, rather like the Japanese designs, try the Rodas design at Intersparta (www.swimstrings.com) - these have about one inch sides, and particualrly if you buy them on the small side, they can only been worn very low on the hips, and may show a bit of 'bum cleavage' at the back. They are fairly briefly cut at the back, even though they are described as having a 'full seat'. They are pretty low at the front too - you might need to trim a little .

You will have to order by fax or mail from Intersparta - they do not have a web shop, but they usually ship items fairly quickly.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't seen that site before and I might just give them a try. Looks like it's not so convenient to order online (fill out a PDF order form?), but at least I can do it, not like the Japanese sites that don't ship internationally.

I don't know that I agree that these swimsuits run small.  I have a 33 inch waist and can easily wear a medium and sometimes large of other suits.  However, I ordered a size 16 suit of the 1.5 inch in ice blue which is not of the "loose" variety and a size 16 Aztec, which is "loose".  The australian size 16 is supposed to equate to a 32 inch waist.  The regular ice blue one is probably right at 32 inches.  A tad snug, but just right.  However, the size 16 Aztec loose is just that, loose.   There is absolutely no elastic in the waist (as advertised), however the weird thing is that the draw string only goes to the sides of the suit (or at least mine seems sewn in there).  This creates a somewhat "loose" environment overall.  If you're well endowed at all the thing will barely contain you as it doesn't me.

All I know is that I an a 32" waist and I wear a Hom Medium, which fits nice and snug, but not too tight. The Aussiebum suit was too tight at medium and just right at large, but the front was still not loose at all like it is in the pictures.

Has anyone bought any of their "low rider" suits?  All their suits seem to be cut somewhat low, and from the pictures it is hard to tell if these are in fact any lower.

ausseibim are great , they do run a size small, but when you realise that its cool. I Bought a loose 1.5 Titanium and an origin in black... even they are a bit minimal for the avg public, but for this crowd then can feel a bit big... but the back is low and low front.... ehh you look better if you Shave.
They do an underwear thong, so i'm not sure why thy dont do a swim thong.. nice suit and feel good

I've got 12 of them.  My favorite is the "Loose" variety.  There is no elastic in the waist band.  There is only a front tie.  They are very comfortable and durable.

Growing up in a conservative family, I have always worn big shorts.  I have tried Tyr and Speedo, but was never really satisfied with the feel of the fabric.  The Aussie's use a no stretch nylon that is perfect.

Highly recommend these for non-thong friendly environments.

Bought my first Aussie Bum thong this week. It will not be my last. The waist band is very comfortable, if rather wide for some people. I also liked the simplicity of the black with red. I bought a pair of their new wonderjock underwear and I hope they combine the two as the briefs were great. (it's been described as a push-up bra for men's packages) Unfortunately, it does not yet come in a thong. Anyone know if they will have a thong like this in the near future?

I've been thinking of getting the 1.5" loose Aussiebum bikini in ice blue. Their website says, "be warned, ICE becomes sheer in the rear when wet. It is a true jaw dropper when exiting the water." For confidant guys only!

I have a few of the "loose" aussiebum bikinis, and even the darker colors don't leave a lot to the imagination.  The single-lined rears show a little bun crack detail in back and the front is lined but the loose fit and non-stretchy material requires you to dispense with any shyness about your body.  I haven't worn one at the beach yet, but I've been working out a lot more than last year so I probably will soon.    Too bad they don't make thongs!

Flnkdguy, thanks for the input on Aussiebum.  Do their sizes run true?  My waist is 34".  Which do you think is best, medium (32-33) or large (34-35)?  Yes, I was looking to see what they offered in thongs, too.  Probably figure guys will pull them up to expose their butts, in the best Aussie lifeguard tradition.  Rather cheeky lads, I've always thought!  And they seem to like the loose drape effect, too, ought to be fun to try.

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

Date Posted:04/23/2008 10:49:42Copy HTML

I would say they run a bit small, partly because the fabric has no stretch.  I'm usually good with 34 waist size and size 18 in the non-strech suits is just about perfect.  The Storm suits which have some lycra are a good fit for me in size 16.

I have a 1.5" Classic in the chocolate color that I wore in the pool yesterday and getting out of the water was like wearing wet tissue paper.  It's very clingy...anyone in view would immediately know what you were born with, in detail.  It dries very fast though.

Thanks, Flnkdguy, just what I needed to know.  The 18 should be perfect, look forward to trying it at the beach or pool.  Will also get size 18 in their tri-athlete running shorts.  They're short and look really sharp, ought to be able to wear them anywhere, especially races, as intended.  I dislike any fabric sticking to the fronts of my legs, but opt for speedos or bikinis only in triathlons, too extreme in most roadraces I do.  'Most' because I've got some special races in mind where anything, or nothing, is perfectly fine, but that's the exception.  Again, thanks for your advice.

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

Date Posted:06/25/2008 03:52:43Copy HTML

Finally made my Aussiebum order, and it arrived today.  The red tri-athlete running shorts are awesome.  Very short, yet because they ride low on my hips, the way I like, they provide pretty decent coverage.  Should be really sharp when I run bare-breasted, as is my wont in the warm weather.  I usually cut the liner out and wear a thong instead, but for once, I'm going to go with the liner for a while and see how it works out.

I also got a couple of 1 1/2" racers, the first a Loose 'Demons', which is white with red and blue side panels and a red '06' logo on the back, the other a Classic Wonderjock in ice blue.  Both have an Extreme 9/10 sheer rating, for confident guys only.  We'll see.  (We're talking about the backs, not the fronts -- I have my limits.)  One problem I have is just how this Wonderjock pouch technology works.  It's designed to "Enhance your natural assets, flaunt your stuff, feel proud and have fun on the beach this summer."  Okay, but what's that little envelope down there in front all about, how is it supposted to be used?  Stuff the balls or stuff the shaft in?  It's not obvious, at least not to me.  Does anyone here on the board have one of these suits and know how you're supposed to arrange your stuff in there?  If I can't figure it out, I guess I'll just wear it as a regular speedo-type suit and let things move around as they may.  That's one thing, it doesn't hold you gently in place in a smooth, rounded bulge, but rather casually drapes over things however they've moved.  Quite different from the standard lycra/spandex suits.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

I have a few pairs of those shorts with the liner out, but they work better liner-in for me.  The fabric does not sit right in front and gets really clingy in back with it out.  Works ok as a skimpy swimsuit cover-up that way though.

The wonderjock: everything (c+b) sits on top of / in that pouch/shelf thing at 6 o'clock.  For the nylon suits I need to go up a size for it to fit properly.  For the lycra suits my regular size is ok.  I've worn those at a few waterparks and such where wearing a regular speedo would mean constantly grabbing and re-adjusting my man-bits.  The WJ holds everything in place nicely.

Thanks, Flnkdguy, I'll try it the way you state.  I'm looking forward to wearing these at the beach.  I'm usually in just a string or a thong set up among the regular folks, where a bare butt is part of the deal.  With these suits, I'll appear pretty normal until I exit the water.  I'm not into 'shock and offend', but it should be fun to surprise people with an "ohmigod, did you know your suit becomes see thru when it gets wet?", playing along with a "my goodness, you're right, I might as well be wearing a thong!" kind of response.  Just a little good, clean fun.

i just received a couple new suits from aussiebum with the wonder jock style.  you can easily put your equipment below and infront of the pouch thats supposed to hold your stuff.  this makes it single lined in front where everything shows but still gives the image that the suit is doubled in front.  if you want then, you can rearrange the equipment to fit into the pouch for a more modest look.  this actually gives you two suits in one, one for everywhere use and with a little adjustment and quite seethru suit.

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

"you can easily put your equipment below and infront of the pouch thats supposed to hold your stuff"

Interesting idea.  I tried that and it wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be, but the resulting no-lining, 12-o'clock (maybe more like 10:00, not enough room at 12:00), pumped-up view is not something I'd wear at the beach, I don't think.   That's one of the things I like about their suits, even the wonder/booster ones are decent enough to wear at any beach, if are willing to have an air of "plausible deniability" about you.   Even the opaque colors show a lot more when wet so you need to seem confident/oblivious when getting out of the water!

I see they've added a lot of new suits on the web site.  Too bad there's no thongs.  We all need to write to them and ask that this injustice be corrected!

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

Flnkdguy, I love your game tactics, that "plausible deniability" and "seem confident/oblivious when getting out of the water".  Don't we all pull those stunts!  It's all part of the fun, which remains, basically, good, clean fun, and brightens up our days at the beach.  And gives the ladies something to oogle at!  You state it so well.
JM_Runs #31

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

Date Posted:06/26/2008 11:03:51Copy HTML

I dunno if I'd call it a game, but I understand what you mean.   Being somewhat "blessed" as they say, from my teen years forward I had to get used to people looking and being kind of shy/embarrassed about it.    Over time, you cultivate an ability to seem oblivious to the obvious.  Getting out of the water of course the first reaction is to tug at the wet swim shorts to pull them away from the body a bit, but of course that draws more attention to the problem, and so on.   So I learned to let it be and focus on other things, something of interest off in the distance, a shell on the beach, whatever.   It comes in handy when wearing a thong or a speedo, too.

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

Date Posted:06/27/2008 03:18:49Copy HTML

Flnkdguy, I see what you mean, it's just a situation you have to deal with, not a game for its own sake.  But following my tack about games, I recalled this morning another little trick I've been having fun with lately.  Just for a change, I've recently switched from my 1" Arena and Waveline bikinis for laps at my health club pool to a black Skinz square cut.  It's unlined and a little showoff, shapewise -- that's where the "ability to seem oblivious to the obvious" comes in.  Makes me feel like a stud without having to pose.  Then, with the suit having no drawstring, getting out of the pool with a hearty heave-ho leaves a little more of my backside exposed than usual, like cleavage.  Swimmers have what seems an unconscious habit of tugging their suits up after exiting the water, so when I do the same with "plausible deniability", there's really some skin that gets covered.  Who, me?

Flnkdguy, I just sent Aussiebum a response to their questionaire, asking for a thong much like their 1 1/2" Classic swimsuit with WonderJock, and a somewhat narrower pouch.  Hope they act on it.

I wore my new Classics at the beach yesterday for the first time.  That white one sure goes transparent in the rear, even somewhat in front.  After taking a dip, I had to return to the car for something.  A cop was sitting in his pickup in the parking lot, and when I turned to return to the beach, he sure got an eyeful!  He did nothing, but then, it was still very early in the day, few folks around, and thongs/g-strings are common at this beach, even if not in the parking lot.

The Ice Blue one with WonderJock was my coverup returning to the car at the end of the day.  After 10+ hours in a Koala Testosterone Pouch, I really felt fully dressed, chatting with folks along the way. A final dip back where the trail leads to the parking lot, and where most people congregate, showed this suit is pretty transparent in the rear, too, but then, Aussiebum's writeup said, "for confident guys only".  Very true.

I'd size up on Aussiebum if you get a nylon suit.  And I'd size up on Gigo as well.  I have both and usually wear a small or med or 32w and with both I will probably go up to a larger size next time I order either brands.

I would like to hear if you've bought the WonderJock Classic 1.5 in either Navy or Ice. How revealing is Navy? I am thinking of getting it. It is not lined at the back right? Will Ice reveal everything when swimming? Thanks

The Navy color won't be that revealing in front, but is single-layer in back and in the right light your crack will show through a little, I think.   Ice is more or less transparent when wet as near as I can tell (don't have one).

I have several Aussiebum speedo style swim suits and really like them.  I was wondering if anyone cuts the front second layer out on the darker colored suits.  I was thinking that on the red, orange, pink and green suits you might get away with removing the second layer would allow some see thru effect but not as bad as it would be in ice blue or white.  That would give some serious definition in the front and as long as your very closely shaved I think it would look great.  Any one with experience on this.  thanks

Clever marketing. Surf lifesaving carnivals provides a ready supply of good looking guys who are comfortable with briefs. The promotion probably wouldn't work on your average non-carnival beach day. Also interesting that the 'cossies up your bum' for surfboat crew is fine, as it is on TV coverage of these events, but they had to give a practical reason for guys to show that amont of skin.

Not thongs, but I recently bought two Aussiebum 1.5 nylon briefs on sale, one in black and the other in brown (not really my favorite color) with light blue and white front panels.  I love the slightly loose fit and can wear them low on my hips like I like to.  100% nylon so not good for pools or hot tubs, but I can't wait to wear them to the beach in 2015.  Ordered in early December and received in less than two weeks!

I also just bought a 1.5 brief. Needed something quickly (arrived in two days) with a drawstring for bodysurfing. The fit and construction seem fine and I'm sure it will do the job.

Although AussueBum advertising suggests their product is a bit daring ("If you doubt yourself, wear something else"), it's really just your standard full bottom Speedo that's a bit narrower at the side.

Grabeach and Ironiconpa, do you have any photos of you in the them? I'm thinking of getting one or two Aussiebums, but I hate how their website pictures usually only show the front, and I hate the disembodied cartoon pictures of the different designs. The videos they have seem to show a variety of styles all at once, so it's difficult to tell what a particular style looks like on an actual human.

I'm thinking of getting the WJ Precision, Swish, WJ Storm, Truth, or Classic. I'm not sure if I'll like the baginess of the 100% nylon, though. I"m leaning to the Swish because I want something relatively boring looking. I think I'll prefer something with Lycra Spandex, so it will be more form fitting. I plan to wear it over a thong when I can't (or don't feel comfortable) wearing just the thong. I'd like something that is pretty small, but still covers my butt cheeks all the way - since I don't like designs that cut halfway as I feel like I'm always adjusting them.

Can any of you comment on how the WJ feature works and if you like/dislike it?

Re:Aussie bum -- Aussiebum

Date Posted:01/12/2015 11:23:09Copy HTML

Sorry Icp84047, no photos. Never felt the need to take photos of myself!

For many years I have only worn Alphamoda products for pool swimming and sunning and general beach use, so tend to compare anything new with them. Serious bodysurfing up until now was done on winter, so I wore a wet suit.

In the ‘new’ condition the Classic is certainly form fitting. There doesn’t appear to be much difference between the 100% nylon AussieBum (AB) Classic and the 80% nylon 20% lycra Alphamoda material. Unable to comment on the ‘used’ condition. With regard to patterns, I’ve always preferred single colour designs and don’t think they’re boring at all.

Having for many years swum laps (as well as washed the car, rode a push bike, swum with wife’s relatives etc) in an unlined less than 1” side Brazil / Rio cut Alphamoda Skyros, the lined ‘full’ bottom Classic 1.5, despite being the briefest in the AB range, feels really conservative. Don’t get me wrong, the fit is excellent and it’s still probably as brief or briefer than what 99% of guys wear on the beach, I’m just used to “designs that cut halfway” for lap swimming. For the same reason, sunning in anything more than an Andros g-string feels weird. Hence I’d find the other AB designs you mention, which appear to have at least 3” sides, unwearable.

Haven’t gone into it, but I would assume the WJ technology would involve thicker or stiffer material in that area. I prefer unlined, so wouldn’t even consider it. I also tend to think any ‘enhancing’ design to be a bit ridiculous, though obviously that is a purely personal opinion.

Totally agree with Grabeach, I have several 1.5" Aussiebums, the cut is quite conservative to me. I use this only when I am with family friends who are quite conservative. The WJ technology includes some sort of a pouch inside that pushes your thing outwards creating a bigger look.

Aussiebums  are great, but the back coverage is full as others have commented.  It's not as full as your typically lap swim brief (speedo/nike/arena/etc.) though, if you get a slightly larger size and move around a bit you could show a tiny bit of cheek.  They have very granular sizing, like speedos, so you should be able to find the fit you want.  I'm 175, around 10%bf  with a 31" waist and I usually wear a medium, but can also pull off a small in the "loose" varietys.   I really love their nylon suits for watersports, they dry really fast and the material doesn't loose it's shape after getting wet.
I think the WJ styles are dumb, like I think any "enhancer" technologies are for any brand.

A bit more on sizing. I've just finished the Xmas ham and pudding etc, so I'm out to a 86cm waist. Because this is temporary, I went for a Medium (80-85) rather than a Large (85-90). This is maybe just a fraction too tight, so I reckon the AB sizing is spot on. For the 11 months of the year I'm around 83 cm the fit should be perfect.

The Precision is on the top of the list after consulting my wife. But in all the pictures, it looks like the rise is really low and they are one step away from a plumber's crack showing - not the look Im going for. Any comments about this? I'm leaning towards ordering a Muscleskins. If you're interested in my thoughts about that, see my post on that thread.
